I do not think it’s a good idea to keep Nia’s situation from the rest of the group. But the bitchy side of me is glad she doesn’t wanna tell anyone because I know the moment we do, it’ll become all about her again and MC’s issues will get pushed even further into the background 😑🤷🏽‍♀️
#choices bolas#choices blades#blades of light and shadow#choices stories you play#playchoices#‘she’s the baby of the group’ ‘you’re our heart’ ‘poor innocent Nia needs to be protected and saved again’#and the thing is that I do like Nia as a character#but 1) I hate when MCs aren’t treated like MCs#and their only purpose is to observe and facilitate the other characters’ stories and growth#and I feel like that’s ultimately what ended up happening in book 1 of this series and will most likely happen in this one as well#like yes obviously MC experienced growth as well but it’s always in the ‘going from a newbie to a competent individual’ sense#and that’s beyond old#plus it doesn’t work when they pick and choose when they want to acknowledge our competence in book 2#and 2) I also can’t stand this flawless/perfect character archetype they do#or rather the ‘only flawed in ways that make them look even more perfect’ characters#it’s so overdone and unrealistic imo#like Nia is so selfless she doesn’t consider her own needs?#she’s generally timid and lacks confidence?#she can be naive and a bit too trusting?#please those aren’t even really flaws#they just serve to make the character even more the paragon of virtue which again is just unrealistic#especially because the last two often end up being flipped and portrayed as the person always seeing the good in others#but idk maybe I’m missing the point or something#I know this is a common character archetype but it’s one of my least favorites#which sucks because as I said I do actually like Nia even though I might be coming across as a hater#i like some of the writing for how she fits into the group and I also like how her faith is unwavering#plus she is competent and has skills in her own right#but for whatever reason the writers thought giving her real flaws or at least acknowledging the shallow ones they did give her#beyond face value wasn’t a good idea?#idk maybe I’m wrong though and things will play out different than I expect

They decide to save the world because NOT saving it because a bunch of jerks were cruel to them is REALLY fucked up. Imagine being a random citizen in that scenario. The world is being destroyed and the chosen hero who is supposed to protect you willingly lets you die because a bunch of other people who you might not even know hurt them. It's about being the bigger man! You don't have to forgive those who hurt you, but you shouldn't just let others suffer because of the actions of someone else.
i think it may be quite a normal reaction. some people dont becoming more understanding or gentler because of what happened to them, but rather bitter and wanting revenge. “if i suffered, why dont they have to suffer too?” it comes with a lot of complicated feelings, especially if the ones that hurt you are now the ones that are begging for your help.
eh i mean? i guess?? but i dont think realistically a lot of people would suck it up and be the bigger man. people are often childish and egoistic and they usually think only about themselves quite a lot,, which is why i think this trope is just unrealistic skdhjss im not saying its bad im just saying its?? overdone?? i like the trope where the supposedly proclaimed “hero” slowly spirals and realizes “oh shit this does not make any fucking sense why am i doing this” and slowly transforms into a “villain”. its just more interesting. and also i feel that “being the bigger man” is used in so many,, books and films and its usually bc “oh no the humanity needs you! its for the greater good! suffer for us! suffer for the greater good!” which i think in general is a very conflicting thing?
and the “you shouldnt let others suffer because of what someone did to you”.... yes, ideally thats what someones morals should be. but if the world hurt you beyond the limits and kicked you when you were already laying, would you rather suck it all up or watch it all burn down? it takes a lot of self reflection and truly a lot of.... compassion and empathy and sacrificing yourself. and i simply dont think a lot of people would do that. “sacrifice yourself for us! for the greater good!” no, i dont think i will.
but yeah, most of the time, the main characters are “ideal” and so because of that of course they will sacrifice themselves. of course they will do it for the greater good. of course they will become the saints and gods and they will be the face of the new beginning. of course they will be the savior. im simply saying, the trope is overdone and unrealistic imo. but its all abt what u like tbh

how did heterosexuality ruin to the bone? my personal experience in treatment, people get together all the time, gay and straight. so it’s not unexpected for her to get with him.
imo the romance was underdeveloped and didn’t fit with the flow of the movie. i thought the dude was annoying and cringe and the whole narrative of ‘boy meets girl and cures her ed’ is overdone unrealistic shite

Why was Rhonda mean to Antoine at the end of that story with them?
Oh! Hi Anon!
Sorry I didn’t see this earlier.
Anyhoo... I assume you’re talking about
“Conclusions to Entropy.” If I am wrong, please correct me.
So, the reason (no spoilers!) that Rhonda and Antoine didn’t wind up becoming BFFs is that, in the real world, just because you go through the proverbial trenches with someone doesn’t automatically make you BFFs.
I’m going to assume you’ve heard of trauma bonding. Bad stuff happens, and people who would’ve been enemies are now best friends, or potentially even lovers.
I see that trope all the time in fiction media. It’s overdone, imo. I also find it unrealistic, and quite potentially unhealthy. In some fiction it can have it’s place, but this piece wasn’t one of them.
Rhonda comes out of everything with the weight of her actions on her shoulders. She has to say goodbye to her old life.
Antoine isn’t affected like that. He was more of a spectator.
So, Rhonda’s in her headspace, but she’s not weak. She’s not going to latch onto Antoine... nor he to her. Neither their character, nor their long term future would lend itself to that.
Antoine would like everyone to be his friend.
He’s a rather eager, if not desperate, for attention and approval.
But some people will never be for each other; and that’s okay. One may want a friendship or a relationship with someone they have a fondness for: but that means nothing in the grand scheme.
No one is -owed!- a relationship with another.
It doesn’t matter what two people went through together. If the idea of a friendship isn’t espoused by -both- parties, it’s okay for it not to happen. Yep, it’s a form of rejection... but that’s okay!
My stories tend to have “coming together” elements. I thought it would be good to show a perfectly natural and organic rejection between two characters that (honestly!) have little to nothing in common.
It felt true to the characters, and realistic to life.
... *thinks a moment* I don’t think Rhonda was mean, exactly. I think she was just being direct. That’s my thoughts on the matter.

issues with blood & wine
cdpr litcherally took away all the development that vampires got in the book series, despite blood & wine adding more vampire lore, and ill explain how
retcons & just weird differences from canon
blood & wine paints vampires as this big evil secret society and civilization whereas in the books they literally do not have more society than “a bunch of frat guys and sorority girls getting wasted every full moon”
the vampire lore they added with mentions and/or demonstrations of human cattle, bloodthirst as a form of torture, the hierarchy with unseen elders, drinking blood being seen as something much darker and sinister all together instead of a vice of vampires like alcoholism is a vice to humanity, and the whole dumbass retcon about the conjunction of the spheres.
the views on blooddrinking introduced in blood & wine lead to annoyingly misplaced dialogue with geralt and regis like geralt mentioning vampires “treating humans like cattle to slaughter” which, they dont, and which geralt learned in baptism of fire, then remarking disapprovingly that humans are more like an open bar then. this dialogue makes no sense even because that’s NOT how vampires in the witcher function
regis’s torture in la cage au fou is just basically torture porn and is pretty unnecessary. but it’s also overdone because it’s not like regis has been sober for centuries, he broke his sobriety at stygga and therefore has only been sober for 8 years, which... he spent dead. so the temptation of relapse would already be an issue for him, which should have provided enough tension and angst for all of us. the scene in la cage au fou also depicts such a visceral pain of bloodlust and doesn’t show WHY it’s such a widespread temptation and vice for vampires... which imo would be more powerful as both a plot point and statement
side note: not vampire related but geralt and regis literally dont talk about the hansa at all and it annoys me because regis seems depressed for No Specific Reason besides dettlaff’s situation when we know that he and geralt experienced great loss at stygga and are struggling to cope with that
side side note: considering regis broke his sobriety at stygga and could be struggling with thoughts of relapse already, knowing that he’s depressed about the loss of milva angouleme and cahir could provide for some more angst and tension :/
the vampire claws are ugly and not lore-friendly. why not just give them short claws on their hands. when regis and other vampires fight in the books, they barely use their claws anyways. they turn invisible, turn into bats, scream, etc.
the smoke/fog effect annoys me because there’s no mention of that in the books, only of them turning invisible. and you can SEE smoke/fog so tell me what is the point
the op-ness of vampires bothers me because vampires were already op in the books and making them moreso just is annoying because it’s unbalanced. i guess this is partially due to an issue in the books where sapkowski never explained how a vampire could truly be killed, but my interpretation is that sapkowski intended to portray regis as “truly killed” at the end of the series, just obliterated beyond his regenerative ability within the near centuries... i mean it took him half a century to grow back a head, how long would it take him to regenerate his entire body? forever, which is pretty akin to ‘death.’ there wasn’t a need to add social rules about vampires killing vampires because... vampires could ‘die’. but cdpr introduced dettlaff regrowing his hand within like, 3 days, and that was that. i don’t disagree with some of the regenerative things depicted, like regis regenerating after dettlaff spears him lol, that was pretty cool and reminiscent of the battle of the bridge where he regenerated from an arrow piercing in about 2 minutes. but for things more severe than flesh wounds........ i can’t support that because it’s too unrealistic given the canon from the books
i like dettlaff’s monster form, i really do, but seeing as how the books say that vampires turn into BATS............................. i guess it is said that all vampires are unique and have different powers, but come on, what is that, that is not even bat-like, or MAYBE do something with the MOTH aesthetic he was given?? he should have had like, locust powers or something cool, come on....
speaking of animal affinities, this is really nitpicky at this point lol, but regis’s corvids not being shown as birds of omen or some dark motif and instead as just General Helpers......... when they attack stygga in lady of the lake, the birds crowd the fort and circle around it, causing the guards outside to all stir and worry about what ill fate is to befall them. it’s intended to be super creepy and worrying. iirc when regis was around corvids also tended to perch in the trees, sort of ominously signaling that he was around... in blood & wine they’re good boys and i love them, but they’re not entirely creepy enough. think of how regis’s gwent card depicts the corvids as an example of a step in the right direction. what im saying basically is less doctor doolittle and more the birds, please.
honorable mention is regis’s hairline and facial hair. baptism of fire described him as looking middle-aged, so he should look around 45. that is all
the conjunction retcons introduced are just confusing and annoying. regis remarks about the vampires’ “home” wistfully multiple times throughout blood & wine, AS IF he actually saw it at one point. our boy’s like, 400 something years old (436, but who’s counting), so he was born in the 800s (bc the witcher saga and games take place in 1260 something). he’s fucking young compared to someone like the unseen elder, or even for example, AVALLAC’H, who’s older than him by like 2 centuries. the conjunction of the spheres occurred 1500 YEARS BEFORE THE SAGA & GAMES TAKE PLACE, in 200s BCE which is MORE THAN 3 TIMES REGIS’S AGE. so it makes no sense for regis to be talking about the vampires’ homeland before the conjunction because (if regis is considered middle aged by vampire standards) he’s like, 3rd or 4th-generation vampire.
depiction of vampires
i will say that orianna and blood simple was a good move because it shows how vampires’ addictions can manifest in ways other than raiding villages as youth... though i would have liked to see orianna shown as middle aged looking like regis is i’ll let that slide because i know cdpr can’t show a woman who is supposed to come off as attractive looking more than 30 years old
but the strictness of vampire society imposed in blood & wine, through the no killing vampires laws, tesham mutna’s whole hierarchy and structure, is inaccurate in my opinion because in the books the whole THING about the vampires is that while they’re highly intelligent and emotional, they don’t really form social structure beyond drinking parties, which i think was both a nice step away from classic “stuffy manor vampire” types and something unique for the witcher universe...
my biggest issue, though, is with dettlaff and his characterization throughout blood & wine, or should i say, lack of consistent characterization. half of the “good things” dettlaff does isn’t even shown (i.e., resurrecting regis) and is rather explained through word, so the effect on the player isn’t as big. his actual caring and protectiveness of rhenawedd/syanna is overshadowed by syanna’s huge arc about her own backstory so there’s like, NO empathy built up for dettlaff. you actually get to talk to syanna about her opinions and takes, but as for dettlaff you’re relying on regis’s secondhand guessing about his brother’s emotions. regis is also somewhat of an unreliable narrator because it’s not like he can predict everything that will happen... as much as it seems it, sometimes
but the whole point of the books dealing with vampires (and more specifically, regis) was to show that sometimes monsters are more reliable and morally upright than humans. im not saying every vampire in the witcher series should be shown as a paragon of morality, because that’s definitely not the case. but i think for a player who has just met regis, just learned about the vampires in the witcher universe, they need more context and more depictions of Good Vampires, or at least, Vampires That Employ Logic, in order to accept that vampires are NOT some savage beasts like anna and damien argue.
it also doesn’t help with... how regis is depicted. regis is always shown in his humanoid form when he’s proper and kind and geralt is friendly with him, and when he’s in a more bestial form during la cage au fou and tesham mutna, he’s shown as like, a danger [[to geralt]], which is such a slap in the face when you consider how regis and geralt fought side by side at stygga. to even think that regis is somehow untrustworthy tbh literally goes against everything in the books -- in the saga, regis is depicted as yes, a very powerful being, but one that has deep intelligence, emotions, and alliances to geralt and the hansa... when he uses his powers and fights in the saga, it was not only rare, but only ever for Good, to save ciri and yennefer. and he was completely in control of himself and his powers... even when drunk at stygga. not to mention regis was even a self-described ‘coward’ and felt it necessary to avoid battle and conflict because he disliked it so. so when in blood & wine, regis fights during capture the castle like it’s nothing, that’s so alien to his character, idk how to even describe it. he just brushes it off like “looked like you needed a hand, we thought we’d stop by” instead of like, whoa. this is a big sacrifice he’s making by putting himself into this conflict, because he loathes violence. of course there’s also the issue with la cage au fou where regis is shown as Bestially Untrustworthy because he Can’t Control His Powers but those issues have already been discussed.........
also it’s tiring how it’s lazily attempted to explain that vampires aren’t just horrific thirsty beasts of the night and then toussaint is sacked by vampires like a week later. the showing was more impactful than the telling here
back to dettlaff’s inconsistent characterization, it’s annoying how he doesn’t get a chance to explain his thoughts and worries and grievances like syanna does, but also it’s annoying how he’s shown as such a caring person for those he loves (asking syanna if shes okay, feeling guilty that he couldnt rescue her sooner, regretting not being there for her...) but then when he’s betrayed he immediately goes to “sack the city until i can murder this bitch” which is like...... okay, i get it, scorpio vibes, but it doesn’t really make sense without some kind of dialogue between dettlaff and geralt. the player would have to stop and really mull this logic over (it does make sense, but you have to think about it... dettlaff would want to murder syanna because she had him murder those close to him anyways, and dettlaff didn’t know (and never finds out, actually) that the knights were bad people deserving of death anyways). i feel like if dettlaff knew the reality about the knights, then he wouldn’t want to murder syanna....... he would be mad that she didnt communicate with him in the first place, but at least he wouldnt be assuming that he murdered innocents. from dettlaff’s perspective, syanna is a killer who killed some of his best friends, but as the player, we never get to even interact with him or his feelings about the subject. instead we’re faced with an unnecessary dichotomy between the two of them which ends in tears and bloodshed either way, and it’s unsatisfying.

I need to rant before I start my day. I started to watch Chihayafuru
Tumblr media
And I love it; I think it funny and adorable, and I have always been a sucker for friendship-based stories. But can we talk about how utterly annoying the main characters love triangle is, please? Like seriously I hate this unhealthy portraying of being obsessed with one another. And the fans of either couple are toxic.
As for now, neither Taichi, nor Chihaya, nor Arata are ready for a Relationship or should be portrayed romantically. Hence them constantly saying each others name at random times and working “for” each other “to meet again”, becomes so utterly annoying. Yes, I understand the motivation behind it, but it's just freaking frustrating but let me get in depts: Chihaya obsession with Arata is just freaking the worst. Like the amount she randomly says “Arata, Arata, ARATA!” at times that have absolutly no conection to him, is so utterly annoying that I cringe so hard and ugh just urgh! It ruins her character to me because let's keep in mind that dude has not stayed in contact nor cared about her for YEARS! Yes, I have a childhood friends, I daydream about and would love to meet again too, but I'm not obsessed with them, even if they would share the same game obsession it wouldn’t be my number one thought all day long, at every little step I make in my life. GET A LIVE CHIHAYA, START TO LIVE FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR DREAMS!
As for now, EVERYONE that has ever played with Arata has the same “connection” as she does, they have nothing more in common than their love for Karuta. Nothing! They simply motivated each other to play once! WOW, HOw couldn’t I see this"SOULMATE MATERIAL” BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD SOMEONE THEY COULD BE GOOD AT SOMETHING! Keep in mind that therefore Taichi, Retro, Nishida, or Shinobu, heck everyone else that played against him and was in awe, has a connection with him as well. They probably also had more dialogue exchange then Chihaya and Arata ever had and ever will have. If anyone I would probably rout for Shinobu at this point they at least have some chemistry and share some similarities, other then starring at each other blankly saying each others name. They also actually had and I’m serious a deeper conversation then the “main couple”.
Arata seems to be more interested in Tachi then he is in Chihaya, so can we make him gay now? Because seriously that how he acts imo. He prefers to write Taichi rather then Chihaya, so clearly he is not interested. UNTIL, Of course, he sees her and of course she FAINTS, because that's the ultimate sign that they are meant to be, even though it Taichi that actually catches her, but he is friend zoned so that doesn't count. Even then all he thinks is her name. Now he needs to say and think her name as often as she does and BOOM COUPLE GOALS! Loving each other's Names! Wow, that’s so deep from a natural talent winning everything, and being so deeply in love with his cards. Like all, we learn from all the other character that seems to be important in Karuta is not portrayed in him, but yeah, but I guess plot armor.
And can we talk how freaking rude she is, I get the I need to sleep because I’m so exhausted at random moment comedic relief moments, but bitch please, you can’t even announce your win? Can’t you even hold it together for your teammates? At the time she acts so freakingly egoistic, that I have to give credits to everyone putting up with her.
Taichi, dude, I get Arata is your Rival, but you share and do so much more with Chihaya that this obsession is really stupid, and either you move the fuck on or tell her because this is stupid.
And I know, I KNOW, Arata will end up with Chihayam the “random” moments, when they “romantically” exchange saying their names and nothing more is foreshadowing to that. And yet they didn’t have a single conversation. NONE! While Taichi *sigh*, pretty much is her best friend, pillow, the one supporting her dreams, and pushing her on. Let’s be honest WITHOUT TAICHI; she would not have made it to where she is now. He is a great friend and cares for everyone beyond a point where she can’t because she lacks empathy or is too self-centered.
So think about you want about Taichi, from annoying brat to be deserving of her love. Their relationship as for now is definitively the better one, but let’s also be straightforward, the amount o time he is self-conscious because of Arata would’ make him a pretty shitty overly jealous boyfriend.  Taichi too is unhealthily attached and obsessed with Arata.
In short, all three of them are utterly stupid characters when it comes to their relationship with each other. I can’t ship or root for them. The one with the most personality is Taichi, and because the writer chose not to make him perfect, most people don’t like him, when he is the only one who shows great character growth and empathy for everyone even Arata, but then again, she ruins it with his “ARATA!!!!”-jealousy-obsession!!!, and I swear I get so annoyed whenever I hear his name.
Also, can we fucking speak of how much of a freaking overpowered character Arata is, he does nothing and automatically is better than anyone else. Sorry, that’s quite boring, and I’m so glad the story didn’t involve him too much as for now. I know this changes, and yeah … see my exciting face. I might have to drop this series because the main characters cannot keep up with the strength and the wit of the support characters.
And that frustrates me because the idea of the story is beautiful and great, and the side characters are beautiful and have so much depth to them, even the main characters are loveable. But their “faithful-bond” is so utterly overdone, and thrown in your face, that the story becomes almost secondary to the frustration of this poor excuse of  “relationship” they are supposed to share.
It almost 2019, and this is still the main romance top young girls are feed to read. CAN WE FINALLY GET FOR ONCE RELATIONSHIPS THAT ARE BASED ON ACTUAL CHARACTER GROWTH DEVELOPMENT AND GROWING OF FEELINGS BASED ON WORKING ONTO IT- make me care for their relationship because “destiny” doesn’t do it for me. It’s an unrealistic unhealthy portraying of relationship; I wished we could finally move on from.
Also, the best character is Akito Sudo, fight me!

Okay I (finally) finished Lucifer season 3 so here are a few of my thoughts *below the cut ‘cause spoilers*
The bad:
-The buildup between Chloe & Cain/Pierce was just poorly done. They had no chemistry & the audience had to rely on being told repeatedly by other characters - read Ella - that they did. Once they were involved the drama was okay but love triangles are just so overdone. There were more interesting ways to progress the tension between Chloe & Lucifer IMO
-Why create a frienemy-ship between Lucifer & Cain/Pierce only to not let that dynamic play into their rivalry at all & instead have them act like they'd always just been rivals? Boring flex but ok
-This is an issue every season & in many other shows too but it must be said - stop writing bi characters to make jokes & throwaway lines about same-gender attraction but only ever allowing them to actually show interest in the opposite gender. It is better than nothing IMO but like, it's still not great. Why are immortal beings so hetero and gender normative anyway? Unrealistic. Abel's weirdly old fashioned take on cishet fuckboy-ness was only tolerable because he was stuck in a chick's body
The good:
-Give me all the Deckerstar angst. Yes to him making wonderful romantic gestures but then royally fucking up the next second. I love crying at 1 am
-Every scene & episode focused on the girls made me sob tears of joy. Let them get drunk & wild more often
-Maze's arc!!! Yes to the drama. Yes to the line "none of you deserve me," after calling Lucifer tf out for never making her a priority
-The entire Amenadiel/Linda/Maze drama made me actually enjoy a love triangle. Probably because the narrative was focused on the friendship between Maze & Linda & the drama was everything
-The OG team coming together despite all odds, in the end, to solve crime & kick evil ass!!!
-Lucifer protecting Chloe with his wings!! Chloe seeing Lucifer's devil face!!! AHH!!!
Overall:
-Best season so far IMO! I haven't seen the bonus episodes yet but basically, I can't wait for season 4 & to see what changes now that Chloe knows the truth

For the meta stuff, how about what happened with the girls between the Chris and Sana phone call and driving up in the los losers van? And why didn’t they let her know, it was so painful to watch her on that bench.
Oh, man.  This is such a difficult one for me, because that phone call traumatized me so much that I stopped watching immediately after it and only know the rest of this stuff through gifs.  But I did just sit down and watch the episode now and I have a few thoughts (however, do bear in mind that this is literally the first time I’ve watched a lot of this and so I will inevitably have missed some things).  Thank you for asking!  This is definitely one of those ‘take me out of my comfort zone’ questions, and I had fun doing this one.
So, first, the background.  The girls have been openly discussing how dreadful they think it is when someone makes hate accounts against someone else.  They’re turning their backs firmly on Pepsi Max because of it, and they are denouncing Isak too because he has taken responsibility for the hate account Sana made.  Noora can’t understand why he would do something like that, but Eva is steadfast in her disgust and feeling that he ‘hasn’t changed’ - presumably since he ruined her relationship in first year.  Vilde, Noora and Eva leave and Sana tells Chris she’s the one that made the account, not Isak.  (as an aside, I love that she chooses Chris here for this because that was always her friendship of choice in s1 and I missed it dearly this season).  Chris advises that she shouldn’t confess, and should just let the hate against Isak subside, and Sana should carry on the way she is.  It seems like Sana agrees reluctantly because she only lets it out later because she texts Eva instead of Chris accidentally with that information.  Nothing is ever definitively said after this, but there’s a heavy implication that Eva (and by extension the other girls) all turn on Sana because of it.  Sana spends a few days trying to reach out and make things as right as she can and is left in despair as the girls refuse to engage with her, except Chris.
That brings us to the phone call.  This is all obviously designed to make us feel real worry for Sana and the future of this friendship.  Chris tells Sana that the other girls ‘don’t like you so much anymore’ because ‘they think you’ve changed.’  Of course, this devastates Sana as we’ve watched her struggles over the season and see why she’s acted the way she has.  There have been some inconsistencies in some bits, but overall, a feeling of alienation and distance has been the big driver of a lot of her actions.  That she is being alienated by this group is the worst thing that could happen to her (as shown in this very episode when she says she doesn’t feel a need to fit in anywhere, not Muslim, not Norwegian etc etc, but only with that band of ‘losers’).  So, this is the out-of-text reason why Sana needs to be alone and the girls need to not tell her they’re coming: the impact of their arrival is lessened if she (and we) knows about it in advance.  But, if we look at what was going on under the surface, there are reasons why they wouldn’t tell her in-text as well.  Those reasons may be flimsy in places, but they still make some logical sense.
First, Eva.  This is, I think, the biggest driver here in how long it took to get past the hurt and betrayal.  She’s the most adamant, the most angry over the whole hate account thing.  To get the girls to go to the bus meeting, Chris had to convince her, and it’s only been a day or so.  That’s not a lot of time to turn around someone who feels so angry and betrayed.  Not only did Sana make this hate account, but she also allowed Isak to be implicated in the fallout.  She sat at the table and let Eva shit all over him, and didn’t step forward when she had the chance.  Instead only ‘confessing’ when she sent a text to the wrong number.  Eva’s had enough betrayal and secrecy disrupting her life.  She’s not going to take this easily.
Noora and Vilde, I think, would probably take less convincing.  But they’re still not going to be happy.  Noora hated the idea of hate accounts almost as much as Eva, and Vilde of course was directly hurt by the fallout.  That Sana let that all happen, watched Vilde get so badly hurt and isak take the fall, and didn’t say anything?  That’s shitty.  And they all have justifiable reasons to be pissed at her right now.  So with all three, Chris has a hard job to do.  She promises to get them to the meeting, but that’s easier said than done just based on what went before and what they’re all feeling.
So, why do I keep saying this is Chris’s job?  That she has to convince them?  Well, that’s because I expect she’s taken this on herself from some feelings of guilt.  She’s the one who told Sana to keep it to herself.  She’s the one who implied Isak could just deal with the hate until it disappeared, and she’s the one who made Sana cry by telling her that her friends don’t really like her much anymore.  So, my best guess is that she promises to get the other girls to the meeting because she feels guilty about her part in this and also is the only one to really have heard and understood how upset Sana is about it.  At this point, she’s the one with the most invested in Sana and her happiness, so she tries to talk them around.  In amongst that, Sana has sent a message telling the girls she’s sorry, that she desperately wants their forgiveness and explains a little about why she had been the way she was.  It probably had an impact as well.  Chris can point to it and go ‘see!!  She’s sorry, she’s trying, she wants us!!’ etc etc.
So, my best guess is that in the time between that phone call and the van appearing, first Chris had to convince the others that Sana deserved a second chance and to be allowed to apologize and move on.  And second, she has to get them agree that they should go to the meeting because Sana is already there and probably very much alone.  They already know that Sana has told Sara and apologized, and that she will probably go to that meeting because she feels a responsibility.  They also know Pepsi Max is not likely to be really sweet and lovely with her, and so she is likely to be having a terrible time with them.  I’m fairly sure that it took a lot of that time between the call and the bench to get them to the point where they were willing and able to accept Sana back into the fold, just because of how upsetting a lot of what she did was for them.
The actual reunion is a little ‘big’ imo, overdone and unrealistic maybe, and would have made better sense if they had been ‘Sana you’re a goddam idiot, but we like you anyway, welcome back.’ But again, for the sake of the text, the big, emotional payoff was required and so we have this over the top moment.  But it is sweet and it does probably sum up the relief Sana would have felt.  So, even if it wasn’t really realistic in the way Skam usually is, it’s emotionally resonant and has the impact we, as the audience, need in order for us to feel the way Sana did when she saw them.
(please send me more asks about meta topics.  I have a few already and I’m working on them, but I’m always up for more.  Also, I was going to try to do these in order, but in honor of the script snippet from today, for the next one I’ll probably skip to the ask about the Eskild/Isak dynamic/meeting, but I promise I’m getting to them all!)

after what I’ve read earlier I’m not feeling Kiwami anymore :(
Like Kiryu said those 2 were like his siblings and I was so pumped about it because, YES, a game about bonds of found families, that’s so cool.
But apparently they went the cheap triangular way and that’s...boring. it was boring and overdone even back in 2005 imo.
ALSO if they wanted to give Kiryu a romantic interest make it someone he didn’t go out of his way to call “sister” :^\
ALSO ALSO! No matter what I can’t just buy into the fact that there’s resentment for THIS when Kiryu went into prison for him for who knows how long (parole wasn’t assured, he could have stayed there his entire life) and also who knew he would had the entire yakuza after him because of this it’s just
unrealistic

imma talk abt megan is missing under the cut heavy tw for discussion of fictional csa and fictional kidnapping/rape. also spoilers obviously lmao.
i think megan is missing kinda sucks for a variety of reasons so im gonna preface with that and then talk abt parts that i liked/would like to comment on. i honestly didnt notice this scene in the movie, thats how glossed over it is, but i read in some commentary that there is a black child who is missing mentioned in one of the news broadcasts and then they are never mentioned again. this is apparently supposed to be a nod or some shit to how real life media treats black children compared to white girls who are missing but honestly its just... silly of them because this movie isn’t SUPPOSED to be about the media, it is heavily about the interpersonal life of megan and her kidnapping in a very personal way. it would have been EASY to make megan a woc. (and if you want to argue that a good portion of the movie is newscasts and, to some point those DO contribute to the points made in the movie- make amy a woc. she is barely mentioned when it comes to newscasts anyways, and honestly if you want to be 'realistic’ (as this movie obviously is trying to be), the movie woud be IMPROVED by amy being a woc. also honestly. this movie was made in 2011 and by that point in time the entire ‘internet predator thing’ was OVERDONE. so i dont really understand the whole ‘spreading awareness’ thing. like who are we spreading awareness too? because according to the movie the people who need to be aware are young teenage girls but... clearly this movie is not marketed towards that demographic, considering its rated r. the movie can basically be split into the first hour of the movie and then the last 25 minutes. the first 10 of the last 25 minutes are... very unneceessary imo and seem straight out of a dark fetish website LMAO. like not needed whatsoever.  the last part of it (which admitabbly i watched in 2x speed because who has time for that) is very heart wrenching and sad but ultimately... what point did it make? idk.
i did like megans charecterization, and honestly i did enjoy her actress a lot. however that is DEFINETELY not how teenagers interact lol. maybe i just wasnt a teen in the 2000s but it seemed very unrealistic just the way they spoke to eachother, but also that might have just been dramatized. however as someone who has been in mental hospitals and MET girls like megan, girls who have been abused from a young age who are willing to talk about it so blatantly, i thought this was a well done character in that sense. i thought the scene where megan talks about being sexually assaulted at camp to amy was SUPER well done, and ive honestly been in very similar situations myself. the way megan talks about it casually, as if shes talking about a normal consensual sexual encounter, the way she grins during it (which grinning when recounting trauma is a very common thing) and glosses over everything. amy kind of .... matching her energy but in sort of a shocked way? because amy obviously doesn’t know what to say, and the way megan poises herself she’s not asking for help or comfort (although, in some ways, she is) so amy just treats it like her friend is telling a story (and amy is ONLY friends with megan and megans friends who are... not normal teens, but to amy it seems like megan and her friends are the norm. so when mega tells this story, amy might just assume that the majority of other teen girls have had encounters like megan, which isn’t true but amy doesnt have a huge frame of reference) amy occasionally will ask ‘did you scream?’ and megans face will flicker, because she is being forced to encounter the fact that this was a traumatic situation, and then she’ll brush it off and continue the story. i really liked that scene and the silent hug scene after megan talked abt being sexually assaulted by her stepfather. (and in this scene megan is willing to view it as traumatic, and she talks about it very sadly, and even to someone like amy it would be clear that this is Not Normal, so thats why the hug happens here, whilst in the chat about the camp counselor amy doesn’t offer comfort)
idk i could talk more abt it but overall it was pretty good, if a bit problematic. to my knowledge it didnt have that big of a budget so. idk . just word vomit here.

I agree with what you think about 13rw. I mean Im a lover of the book it was completly OUTSTANDING but, Okay, 13 reasons why was wayyy over done, like they changed quite a bit from the book just from being on Episode 2. Im not as happy with it as I should be. The book was far more better. People have different options and people don't undrstand that some see it in ways that others dont. #ImSorryYoureSeeingMeSoMuchInYourAsksIJustReallyWannaTalkToYouBecauseILoveYouInANoneWeirdoWay
yah people have been giving me some shit for calling it unrealistic or romanticized lmao but it’s whatever tbh we’re all entitled to an opinion i guess. imo i agree, it was so overdone and some of it was cringey and just agh, i hate that people are going on about it so much, especially people on my fb who i know irl that are literally bullies themselves akdfjghfjdkslfkgj. i might read the book after i’ve finished reading my current one, maybe i’ll enjoy it more!! and hey don’t worry about it omg i love talking to u, you seem so cute cool oh my god.
