#laïcité is um. brainwashing#we have posters of it everywhere in school#it’s the principle which makes hijabis take off their headscarves when they enter school buildings#it’s the principle which means the government cannot ask questions abt race on the census#it’s the reasoning behind a lot of very fucked up things#it worked in the 18th/19th centuries when the question. was are you Protestant Catholic or atheist#but in a multicultural world it is a SICK principle which justifies horrific treatment#and forced invisibility of ethnic minorities in France :)#and most people I know there agree with it at least partially#including like all my family :/#anyway if Pierre wants to be blatantly religious 24/7 you’d think he’d respect [redacted for purposes of my sanity]#yeah we’re not going there
