On Veil and the Widow...
With all of the EXTREMELY overt slavery and plantation imagery in Into the Badlands, I’mma need everyone to remember that the Widow is a white woman and Veil is a Black woman. Right now!
People are reacting negatively to her betrayal of Veil for a reason. This is not an extension of Whore/Madonna or Madame/Madonna, which needs to be interrogated before it’s applied here because Veil is not another white woman opposite the Widow but, in fact, a Black woman. That is a trope that doesn’t quite work as a criticism because of the nature of Black women’s portrayals in media and their receptions in fandom.
Even more, it totally invalidates Black fans who are upset that this epitome of a White Feminist and White Savior literally just sold a Black woman into sexual slavery to further her own cause, all the while professing to be a “savior” come to liberate the downtrodden.
Veil gave Tilda the poison as an option last season because the Widow literally kidnapped her and forced her to use her doctoring skills on her, instead of just asking. Furthermore, Veil felt hypocritical vibes coming off of the Widow’s “save every woman in a way that still leaves me in power or a Baron” crusade, which turned out to be absolutely valid.
The idea that somehow there aren’t serious and honest reasons for fans, especially Black fans, to be done with the Widow is so obtuse and ridiculous.
Stan her all you want but we don’t have to cuz the Widow literally is garbage. An interesting character, perhaps, but complete garbage for what she did to Veil. Trying to argue that she’s just like any other “anti-hero” is so tone deaf and gross. Miss me with that, man.

it needed to be done. THE HAND TOUCHING. THE EYE CONTACT. I CANNOT. and then there’s that tiny moment of hesitance before she’s like “fuck it”. and like man...this gives me feelings. ‘cause y’all know she has been through some shit. so the whole idea of starting a relationship has gotta be kinda scary. but she’s like “you know what this is a good dude i think i can trust this dude”. BECAUSE LET’S BE HONEST HE IS A GOOD DUDE. the best dude. this is a dude to be trusted. okay i’mma stop ranting now. but yes i have some emotions about this.

When The Widow fans speak on a Veil "murder attempt" on Widow but "forget" that The Widow had Veil kidnapped, held her captive and the three bottle choices was Veils insurance to gain freedom.

Into the badlands 2x10 thoughts now that the anger has gone away... a little.
Starting off with Odessa. I hope she doesn't backstab Mk again. If her and Tilda get together I'm fine with that but she should try to understand Tilda and Mk's friendship. Tilda has forgiven Mk because she understands he couldn't control it. More than fear I think Odessa is blinded by jealousy. Probably thinking Tilda will be snatched away by MK but he already let her go when she stated she found a new "Friend".
The widow. You did not want a world of barons so why are you offering waldo the position of one. How would he teach someone to be free? It comes off as if you are just controlling them. And also she should at least hear Bajie out. I figure he would tell her the truth about what happened when he couldn't find her. If he didn't care about her he would still have his gift.
That Quinn and Lydia moment. That made me love Lydia because she's over him now. She was ready to tell his men the truth. Even though it was a failed attempt she had guts. She looked the man she once loved in the eye and literally told him she cant wait to see him die by Sunny's sword.
Declan was the closest to Quinn so why were they showing some other guy at some point and made Declan return the last episode to be killed?
The first bomb scene was okay but why didn't they pull out Sunny's body right away? That part I don't understand.
I loved how Waldo helped Tilda. He's just unconsciously becoming a father figure to these regents.
I loved the fight scenes with Sunny and Bajie. It was hard core and interesting. Too bad Bajie got injured.
Now....This part. The ending.
After all those stabs Quinn didn't die how? Im not leaving Sunny out he got hurt too. His clothes are leather right so I guess the arrows wouldn't go in so deep but he did get cut by Quinns sword. Quinn got these deep stabs about twice I think and then thrown off from somewhere. He should be dead. And for them to not hear him wasn't he groaning?
With Quinn I think the writers underestimated how fans would like his character and at some point gave up on the tumor plot. He had until winter to live. Im quite sure that's why the theme is snow all over the place. Those two things not being connected in season two show they wanted to give up on the tumor plot. Probably figured they just needed to mention the tumor a little and people wont worry about it. That's crap.
Also with this ending after Lydia told Quinn she would be there when he dies in an earlier episode I was expecting for her to show up at the last moment. Her dying with Quinn made more sense because she was saying all along she'd be there. Then when its over she can be with her son because she has nowhere else to go.
This Veil destiny thing the writer stated I don't acknowledge. If Veil had died in some other situation I would accept it but she just died after all that torture? From one stab? While others walking around like they from hancock. We saw her being ordered, crying. forced into bed, taken away from her son, be threatened and her killing Quinn to only die after all that is her destiny. She deserved a better death. Not saying they had to make her live to season 4 or 7 but after all that crap really? You made her a damsel. Her character did not grow. And you killed the best doctor in the badlands.
Bajie needs to be more honest with everyone. He's probably a good guy but he has too many secrets.
The writers better come out and say "Ha we trolled you. That's an alternate ending."
The guys came for martial arts. Girls came for the ship, martial arts and everything else. To kill off what we loved. If views drop seriously I am not defending this show.
I will watch this show for Henry, Sunny and their crew but not as excited as I was before this. It will take time. If they bring in another love interest, looking at Daniel Wu wouldn't make me watch this show. Not worth it.
I'll watch season 3 but not with the same excitement I had in season 1 and 2.

To be honest...
I never really liked the Widow. I mean, yeah, she is a BAMF but I was not interested in her character. She came off to me as a flat affective, false messiah (which was pretty much proven last episode) but I never thought she was dumb. Giving Veil and Henry back to Quinn was dumb. And pretty sloppy. She now has no leverage over Quinn. Quinn has what he wants (a new faux family), Lydia, and he can take his barony from Jade pretty much when he wants. Jade may be smart but she's not a baron in thought and strategy (at least from what I've seen). I know no one knows exactly what has happened to Sunny yet, but I would much rather put my stock in that he's alive until they can find a body or something to identify him as died. And what is the best position to have one of the best clippers in the Badlands, indebted to you! You keep the man'd family safe, feed, and happy and you can probably convince him that staying and protecting your lands would be the best thing for everyone. But, no! The Widow just hands Sunny's family back to apparent danger because you were pissy about Veil giving Tilda the first real choice of her life. That she hasn't translated a language she's never seen before in a day? Get real, lady!! And think about Henry's potential. Arguably the smartest woman in the Badlands and the best clipper as parents!! Veil is making functioning prosthetics with the most basic tech and while Sunny only has 400+tattoos I'm pretty sure he's killed more than that . If Henry gets even a fraction of either or both of his parents abilities, he's gonna be a #1, 5 star BAMF!!
