Here you go man. I’m quite a fan of these two so this was fun to write! Hope you like this!

Pairing: Yoneya & Izumi

Despite being a Border agent, and having a responsibility to portray the agency in a positive light, Yoneya was prone to getting into fights with other students at school. While most of his scuffles were comprised of a few fake throws at each other, often Yoneya would find himself on the infirmary bed, cuts and bruises along his body.

Izumi always gave him shit for it; he should be trying to clean his act up, but he always likes the rush of adrenaline that hit his body during fights. The nurse aid throws a few bandages in his lap, not happy about seeing him for the third time this week. She stands over him, her arms crossed, watching his pathetic attempt at putting the bandages on his own face.

“You’re in here so often you must know how to put these on by yourself.” She quips, slipping a jacket over her uniform.

“I need to run an errand, stay here until I get back.” She slams the door behind her, and a few minutes later Izumi cautiously walks through, making sure no one else was inside. He plants himself next to Yoneya in his bed, his face crinkled together.

“You really need to stop picking fights.” Yoneya just smiles, his shifting skin peeling the bandage off of his face. He tries to place it back, but it just flops over again. Izumi sighs.

“Give me that,” he peels the bandage off Yoneya’s skin and applies a new one against his cheek. Yoneya keeps a steady smile through it, Izumi giving him a questioning look.

“What are you smiling about?” He shrugs, bracing against another band aid Izumi slaps to his nose.

“I don’t know what I would do without you.” Izumi sighs and throws away the used bandages. He walks over to the drawers to rummage through the supplies.

“Do you have any other cuts anywhere?” Yoneya shakes his head and sits up in the bed.

“Look, Izumi. You really need to quit it with the fighting. You’re going to end up pissing off someone who can do some serious damage, do you.” Yosuke once again shrugs and braces his heads against the back of his head.

“I’ll deal with that when the time comes. Right now I’m having too much fun fighting these other kids.” Izumi sighs and sits next to Yoneya, both of them now staring out the window, towards the Border Headquarters that towers over their school.

“You get end up getting kicked out of Border.”

“No, I wouldn’t.”

“You could end up getting kicked out of school.” Yoneya gives Izumi a smirk.

“Doesn’t sound like that big of a punishment.” Izumi dramatically puffs air out his nose.

“Fine, but I wouldn’t be your friend if you threw away school like that.” Yoneya lowers his eyes and turns towards Izumi.

“Oh, c’mon. I need you, man. Who’s going to patch me up when I’m down on my luck?” He gives Izumi a wink, who slaps him across the face with a pillow. His face grows bright red, and he moves towards the door.

“That’s the sappiest line you’ve ever said!” Yoneya throws the pillow back towards Izumi, missing him and narrowly avoiding the stack of papers next to him. Izumi laughs and flings himself outside the door, the nurse aid fuming as she enters the room.

“I told Izumi to stay away when you were in here. I don’t need two idiots in here.” Yoneya chuckles and leans back into the bed again.

“Yeah, he’s an idiot. But he’s my idiot.”

21. “Who hurt you ?” Kei Tachikawa and Kouhei Izumi

(this is purely platonic)

Izumi winced. This hurt way more than he expected… While he had the possibility to choose whether to feel pain or not in his trion body, right now his real body was sending him equally real signals of pain. He took a quick breather, stopping in his tracks for a while to check if they were still after him. A few seconds later, he deduced he had lost them : he probably knew Mikado way better than these thugs.

- Ah… Shoot…

He was bleeding. If he had used his Trigger… But he couldn’t. The use of a Trigger for personal issues was banned and the last thing he wanted was to get in trouble with the higher-ups. He leaned forward and took his phone out. Thank god it wasn’t broken, that would have been the cherry on the top. The first contact he had saved there was Kei, his captain and one of his best friends, so he didn’t think twice before calling him. It only took Tachikawa two rings before he picked up.

- Hey, what’s up ? - I may or may not gotten beaten up…

Silence.

- You’ve been WHAT ? - Well, it seems like I’m bleeding. I’m no doctor but I don’t think I’m in top shape right now… - Damnit… Where are you ?

Trying to suppress a cry of pain, he gave him his localization. About five minutes later, he saw Shinoda’s car approaching and let out a sigh of relief, quickly replaced by a feeling of shame. Great, the chief of HQ was going to see him in this state… Well, you can’t have everything in life, could you ? Kei was the first to get out of the car, worry painted all over his face, and rushed to Izumi’s side.

- Hey, don’t look at me like I’m dying ! he joked. I could run a marathon. - Very funny, but that’s not what you said over the phone. Come on.

He accepted the support his friend was offering and leaned on him to get to the car. He was starting to feel a little dizzy… Hadn’t Tachikawa been there, he probably would have gone belly up on the ground.

- What the hell happened ? asked Kei. Do you need to go to the hospital ?

Shinoda didn’t even let him answer.

- That’s where we are headed.

Feeling too weak to protest, Izumi simply closed his eyes. His study session with Kunichika seemed compromised… Well, he was going to bomb this math test anyway, so why bother...?

 The first sight he witnessed when he woke up in this very uncomfortable hospital bed were Tachikawa and Kunichika watching over him. The relief on their faces was even pretty funny to see, but he held back his laughter.

- Sorry for worrying you, guys. - Who hurt you ?

Izumi had never seen his teammate like this before : this overly serious expression wasn’t a familiar one. Even during the Aftokrator invasion, when the stakes were higher, he didn’t seem as concerned. A bit embarrassed, he scratched his head.

- Well… These students were making fun of Border, so I went there to explain how the city wouldn’t be safe without us, you know, the usual… They should recruit me in the Arashiyama unit ! I would make a great PR agent. - And ? - One of them kicked me in the stomach and the others followed him. They said that if I wasn’t able to face them, how could I face aliens ?

He let out a small laugh.

- These dumbasses don’t know about trion, obviously. Else, I would have kicked their asses. - Do you remember their faces ? - I think I took a picture of them before talking to them… In my phone. - Hmm. I know these guys.

Without saying a word, he got up and left the room. Tachikawa might seem calm in the outside, but in the inside he was boiling with rage. How could they dare to assault a member of his team ? If he couldn’t stand up in Izumi’s behalf, he wasn’t worthy of being a captain. All these times when Shinoda lectured about a captain’s duty… The main point that stuck in his mind was definitely the “protect your teammates” part.

Needless to say, the thugs never tried to pull a stunt like this again.
