Seventeen's reaction when reader stops breathing during orgasm
Seungcheol feels you go completely still beneath him, he’d stop everything he’s doing, his eyes wide with panic. "hey, are you okay?" he’d ask urgently, shaking you gently until you start breathing again.
he slowed his movements just enough to give you a moment to catch your breath, his eyes never leaving your face. his hand comes up to gently stroke your cheek.
as your face contorts in pleasure and you tighten around him, he realizes what's happening. he was worried but also intensely turned on by the raw, uncontrolled reaction you were having.
a grin spreads across his face as he watches your blissed-out expression, the realization dawning on him that he's fucking you too good. "mhmm look at you," he chuckles, his tone teasing but relieved. "couldn't handle all of this, huh?" he continues to thrust into you, enjoying the way your body responds to him.
Jeonghan would be startled, his playful demeanor instantly replaced with concern as he feels you stop breathing. he’d pause immediately, his eyes searching your face for any signs of distress. "baby, breathe for me," he’d urge softly, his fingers brushing your hair back from your forehead.
the moment you start breathing again, he’d let out a relieved sigh. he slows down just enough to prolong your pleasure, whispering dirty praises in your ear about how beautifully you cum for him.
Joshua would be immediately alarmed, panicking as he realizes you’re not breathing. "oh my god, are you okay?" he’d ask frantically, shaking you gently until you start breathing again.
when you reach your climax and exhale deeply, he smiles softly. "that's it, beautiful," he murmurs, his hands soothingly rubbing your sides. "you did so well, just keep breathing."
''please don’t do that again."
Jun's brow furrows in concern when he notices you tensing and not breathing. "are you okay? don't forget to breathe," he says softly, his hands caressing your sides. "I'm here, just relax and let it go."
when you cum and release your breath, he lets out a relieved laugh. "there you are," he whispers, pressing kisses along your neck. "you did amazing, baby. just relax now."
Hoshi "hey, love, are you okay? please breathe," he’d say frantically. Hoshi’s heart skipped a beat when he saw you stop breathing momentarily during your orgasm. his movements became more controlled, and he leaned down to press a kiss to your forehead.
as you finally came, your body trembling in response, Hoshi let out a soft, encouraging moan. “fuck, you’re amazing,” he kept his movements gentle but firm, prolonging your pleasure and ensuring you felt every wave of your orgasm. “that’s it, mhmm” he encouraged, his voice soothing and filled with admiration.
Wonwoo notices your body’s reactions with a keen eye, fascinated by the way you stop breathing and tense up as you get closer to orgasm. he slows his pace just enough to tease you, "just relax, I'm here with you." "gonna' cum for me just like the good girl your are? hm"
he smiles in relief, when you cum around his cock "there you go, love..." he whispers, his hands gently rubbing your back.
Woozi ''hey, don't hold your breath like that," he almost scolds, voice laced with concern. he cups your face, making sure you focus on him. "It's okay, just breathe with me."
As you cum, he breathes a sigh of relief along with you. "that's it, you're okay," he whispers, pressing a kiss to your temple.
Minghao, from the moment you start to fuck, Minghao is attuned to every detail of your reactions. his gentle but firm touch is designed to keep you grounded. as you get closer to your climax, you forget his earlier instructions and starts tensing up. your breath catches, and you can feel your body tightening.
"breathe," he commands, his voice dominating. when you cry out, overwhelmed by the intensity, he leans in closer, his lips brushing against your ear. "shh, shh, breathe," he repeats, his tone brooking no argument. "you did so well."
Mingyu's eyes widened when he realized you had stopped breathing in the throes of your orgasm. his large hands stroking your sides soothingly. “hey, hey, breathe for me,” he coaxed, his voice gentle yet firm.
when you finally reached your climax, and he felt the gush of liquid from your squirting, Mingyu couldn’t contain his excitement. “holy shit,” he muttered, a wide grin spreading across his face. he watched in awe as you rode out your orgasm, his hands steadying you.
Seokmin’s eyes widen with concern as he notices you slipping into a trance-like state, your breath catching and body tensing up. "Y/N-nie?" he slows his pace momentarily, trying to gauge your reaction. ''breathe, baby, come on,"
realizing you need a sharp jolt to snap out of it, Seokmin thrusts sharply into you, forcing your body to react. the sudden movement makes you gasp, drawing in a much-needed breath. as you exhale, the tension in your body releases, and you cream around his cock, the orgasm hitting you. "good girl..." he continues to move, more gently now. "I’ve got you."
Seungkwan "baby, you gotta breathe for me," he decides to stimulate you more, hoping to get a reaction. one hand moves to your clit, rubbing it in tight circles while his mouth latches onto your nipple, sucking and licking it. "come on, beautiful, I need to hear you," he murmurs against your skin.
feeling your body react to the extra stimulation, Seungkwan continues, his touch becoming more insistent. "breathe, baby, breathe" he repeats, his fingers working your clit faster. your body jerks, a gasp escaping your lips as you finally take in a breath. he grins, knowing he's got you back.
Vernon immediately senses something is wrong so he stops thrusting into you, "are you okay?"
you whine, frustrated by the sudden pause, and manage to gasp "keep going." you start to breathe again, your chest rising and falling more steadily. Vernon grins, relieved but still cautious. "alright, but you gotta keep breathing, okay?"
he moves slowly at first, making sure you’re breathing steadily. once he's satisfied you're alright, he picks up the pace. "you gonna cum for me, baby? just like that, keep breathing,"
the pleasure builds quickly, and with Vernon’s attentive eyes on you, you feel safe to let go. your body tenses again, but this time, you remember to breathe. "fuck, that's it, baby." Vernon groans, feeling you clench around him.
Dino sharp instincts kick in, and he knows he needs to keep you breathing. without slowing his thrusts, he bites down gently on your neck and tugs at your hair, the sudden sensations pulling you back from the edge just enough. "breathe, baby, yes, breathe" he growls into your ear, his voice low and commanding.
the mix of pain and pleasure forces a gasp out of you, and you start to breathe again, albeit shakily. Chan doesn't let up, his thrusts relentless as he works to bring you to your peak. "that's it, keep breathing," he encourages, his tone firm. "I want you to scream my name when you cum." he pulls his face away from your neck, his eyes locking onto yours.
as you come down from your high, Chan slows his movements, his hands still holding you close. he scolds you gently, "you need to remember to breathe, okay? I want to feel you cum properly without scaring me like that."

not sure if you’ve done this before, i’m sorry if you have but svt and their s/o fighting bc of a misunderstanding?
fighting because of a misunderstanding
content: established relationship, mentions of arguments, pettiness, angst but nothing too serious, etc.
wc: 790
a/n: since this was such a general idea i went in a different direction with all of them and how they'd react if you or he had a misunderstanding and then it led to a fight. hope u enjoy <3
masterlist
seungcheol -
he seems super stubborn so i think that if he misunderstanding was on his side, he'd try to brush it off and pretend he didn't realize what the issue was. would try and drag it as long as possible due to embarrassment at his mistake, but it'd just create a bigger fight. eventually, though, he'd swallow his pride and admit fault.
jeonghan -
he'd gaslight you the entire argument and end up winning ... just kidding he'd actually be really open to admitting his faults and excusing you in your own T-T even if it had all been caused bc of a misunderstanding he'd still be willing to talk it through and resolve it. would NEVER go to bed if u guys hadnt resolved things.
joshua -
he's so annoyinjwhdjsks i think he'd be super annoying in fights so he'd take any bit of ammunition he could get. whether the misunderstanding was on his part or not, he'd still somehow argue it to his advantage. if things got out of hand, he'd wave the white flag and call a truce.
jun -
just confused the whole time. had he missed something or done something without realizing? his first instinct would be to be apologetic (even if he didnt fully understand how this argument had come to be). if he at some point realized either you or him had simply misunderstood the other, he'd just let it go, being content that you had already resolved it.
soonyoung -
lol i think he'd immediately act like wounded puppy the moment he realized that a fight had formed between the two of you. would do gymnastics in his head trying to figure out how you got here, only to realize that it had all been due to some misunderstanding between the two of you. he wouldnt care who was to blame, he'd just take responsibility if it meant the two of you could cuddle again.
wonwoo -
he's so in touch with his emotions and such an empathetic soul that i cant even imagine a fight breaking out with him, even if it was caused by a misunderstanding. like jeonghan, he'd be super open to talking it out and would never try to antagonize you during fights. had it all been caused by a misunderstanding, he'd still be very calm and understanding about it all, even taking blame if necessary.
jihoon -
gives me the vibe that he'd rather ice you out than actually get into a fight. this would, of course, only make things worse. he'd stand his ground, though, convincing himself that it'd be better to wait for you to go to him. after a few days of silence for both sides, he'd realize his mistake and have to crawl back to you with an apology.
seokmin -
would be so disheartened at the concept of fighting in the first place lol. he'd be willing to get on his knees to stop whatever argument was going on. he'd take on the blame of any misunderstanding if it made you happy.
mingyu -
another wounded puppy. would pout and whine and not really take the fight seriously, just wanting things to go back to normal so that he could hold you. would apologize for any fault of his and entice you into forgetting about whatever misunderstanding had come up.
minghao -
not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but i feel like he might be a lil bit stubborn when it comes to arguments. he might let his emotions get the best of him (he's a scorpio ..) and need some time to cool off before having a productive conversation. he'd have to hold himself back a bit in the case of a misunderstanding but would still never be mean nor disrespectful during fights.
seungkwan -
if for some reason you had picked a fight with him due to a misunderstanding on your part, he'd never let you live it down. would bring this up in future arguments (lightheartedly obviously!!) to give himself an advantage in any fight. would claim you had a previous record of being wrong.
vernon -
he's too chill to ever get into a serious fight. he'd be willing to admit fault pretty easily, but he'd also stand his ground when necessary. whenever a misunderstanding came up, he'd try to be the voice of reason and be open to criticism.
chan -
lol have you seen him when he banters with his members? he never backs down and he'd give you the same treatment. would argue til the end, even if things ended up getting a bit heated. in the end, though, he would calm down and understand that misunderstandings such as these needed to be taken care of with more tact and would apologize if he got too intense.

idea: collegeboy!jeonghan type but it's minghao hoshi or shua instead
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’ve been thinking about this prompt and i can’t stop thinking about a collegeboy!minghao…
collegeboy!minghao who is very very quiet. he sits next to you in your biology class, but has never spoken a word to you. you can’t help but notice how pretty he is, glancing over every once in a while to admire his plump lips and pretty painted nails. every time you peek at him he’s always hyper focused on his work, his dark hair hanging like a curtain over his eyes. you’d do your best to distract yourself, ripping your longing gaze away from him to focus on your work. even though you’re trying your best to not think about the gorgeous boy next to you, you continue to wonder what it would be like to know everything about him.
meanwhile minghao wonders the same things about you. sitting next to you every day was the most heavenly torture he’d ever experienced. he gets to sneak glances at the pretty girl sitting next to him, studying every detail of your face and features. but he also has to deal with the jittery feelings he gets just by being in close proximity to you, trying his best to ignore the nervous sensations in the pits of his stomach. he also has to attempt to ignore the faint smell of your perfume, the sweetness only making his weak stomach twist more with anxiety, with nerves. he’s never even spoken to you, but he swears he’s memorized the shape of your lips, and he’s certain that he’s embedded the exact color of your irises into his brain. he almost feels your eyes on him every time you glance in his direction, and he tries to pretend it doesn’t get to him. he tries to act nonchalant, but his heart hammers in his chest and a wave of heat courses through his body solely from the thought of you. the urge to talk to you eats away at him with each passing day, but he’s not sure if he’ll be able to overcome his hesitance. until then, he’ll just keep thinking about you.
·𖥸·
you were stumped. you’d stare at your work with your eyebrows furrowed, slightly nibbling on the end of your pen as you try to understand the mass of information in front of you. biology was never your strongest subject, but you had always figured out the bare minimum of the lessons on your own. unfortunately, your luck had run out up to this point. you had no idea what was going on. you’d absentmindedly peek at minghao, studying his features for the millionth time already, and then trailing your gaze down to his hand. your eyes would widen at the sight of his practically finished work, and you were surprised to see how quickly he was writing down his answers. how does he understand this? you had decided to never again ask your professor for help, because the answers they provided only confused you more. now, you have another option. “i’m sorry,” you’d start quietly, watching minghao slightly turn his head towards you. “but do you think you could help me, please? i don’t understand this.” after a beat of silence, he’d give you the smallest nod and begin explaining his work to you. you can barely pay attention to his explanations, allured by his quiet voice and his gentle expression. you’d do your best to listen though, finding that his explanations make way more sense than your professor’s. minghao seemed so certain and sure of himself, and you were astonished with the ease he grasped the concepts.
but of course, poor minghao is not certain or sure of himself. he’s overthinking every sentence, over analyzing every expression you make. he’d wonder if you understood his explanations, almost positive you thought he was stupid from the little stutters escaping him occasionally. you just make him so nervous, and his well-developed composure evaporates from his body every time he even looks at you. his heart is hammering in his chest once again, so harshly that it feels as if it might break through his ribcage. “ahhh,” you’d observe, finally understanding the lesson now after minghao’s thought out explanations. “i totally get it now.” you’d gaze back up at the pretty boy, shooting him your brightest smile. you were beyond grateful for his help. “thank you so much, minghao.” you’d grin, receiving a shy “you’re welcome” from him in return. as you both refocus on your work, minghao would be reeling. the way you said his name sent a whole new swarm of butterflies to the pit of his stomach. he couldn’t help but blush when his name left your lips in such a captivating way. and oh, the way you smiled at him? he felt like he was going insane. time had seemed to pass quicker than usual due to his stray thoughts, and just as he’s grabbing his things he hears your voice calling his name again. “hey, minghao?” you’d utter gently, watching him whip around towards you. you couldn’t help but think the dark blur of his form whirling around was cute in a way. “yes?” he’d answer timidly, hoping his voice didn’t sound too small and pathetic. he can’t control it when you say his name like that. “do you…think you can help me more with biology sometime? i’ll pay you, of course,” you’d propose, feeling a bit embarrassed to have to ask someone for extra help. you knew it was either that or risk failing, and you would much rather pass. “you just make it easy to understand. but if you don’t feel like it, it’s really no pressure. i totally understand.” of course your question would send minghao’s nerves through the roof. helping you with biology? alone? with you? he’s positive his heart would explode. he’d swallow anxiously, his adam’s apple bobbing slightly from the movement. “you don’t have to pay me,” he’d hesitate, opting to shove down his anxiousness and take a risk. he wouldn’t let himself pass up an opportunity to spend time with his biology crush. you were too pretty to turn down. “when do you want to meet again?” your eyes would widen a bit in surprise. you didn’t expect him to even consider it, let alone actually agree. “whenever you’re free. i’ll go by your schedule since you’re the one helping me,” you’d decide. “my dorm or yours?”
“y-yours,” minghao would falter. he wasn’t mentally prepared to be flung into your dorm, where you live and sleep every day, but seeing you in his dorm would be worse. imagining you seated prettily on his couch or sprawled out on his bed would just make his brain develop more detailed daydreams of you. he doesn’t need to make things harder for himself. you’d open your phone, giving it to minghao so he could put his number in. “let me know when you want to come over, okay? i’ll text you in a bit,” you’d smile at him as he responds with a tiny “okay.” poor minghao would be so distracted in his other classes, thinking of you and wondering when you’d text him. he can’t help but be eager when he knows that his number is nestled in your phone and that you could text him at any minute. hearing the ding from his phone while he’s in his dorm would make his heart stop. you had texted him.
unknown: hi! it’s (y/n)
unknown: when’s a good time for you to come over?
the thought of him coming over to your dorm made his stomach twist again. he couldn’t help but be excited, even if he was just coming over to help you with biology.
minghao: hi 👋 i’m free right now if you’re not busy.
you: sounds great! come over whenever you’re ready :)
after sending him directions to your dorm, minghao would waste no time making his way there. he’d be at your door in less than 10 minutes, knocking softly at the wood and waiting eagerly patiently for you to answer. you’d open the door for him, flashing him a pretty smile and moving aside to let him in. minghao could feel his face heating up already. he truly felt like he couldn’t breathe around you at times. you were dressed so comfortably, changing your clothes from earlier and throwing on a large hoodie. your shorts were proving to be trouble for him, slightly riding up your thighs when you moved and leaving little to his imagination. “wanna come to my room?” you’d ask sweetly, missing the way minghao gulped nervously at your wording. he’d respond with a slight nod, following you to your room and trying not to admire your exposed thighs.
you’d plop down on the edge of your bed, crossing your legs and patting the spot next to you. minghao would sit down cautiously next to you, clutching his biology notes in an attempt to ground himself. he had no idea why sitting on his crush’s bed felt so intimate to him, and he couldn’t help but blush a bit at the thought. “okay,” you’d begin, peeking at minghao’s notes. “where do you think we should start?”
you’d spend the next few hours with minghao going through all of his detailed biology notes. he’d help catch you up on the lessons you didn’t understand, explaining them in depth and answering all of your questions. no disrespect to your professor, but minghao explained all of the concepts way better than they ever could. you were thankful that you sat next to a pretty boy with such a strong understanding of biology. and minghao was thankful too! without biology being his strongest subject, he wouldn’t have an opportunity to get so close to his biology crush. (of course, he was only so good at the subject because he needed a distraction from his pretty seatmate. each class session he was invested in the lecture, solely because he needed a way to divert his attention away from you. you’d still find ways to sneak into his thoughts though, albeit without your knowledge <3) he was glad all of his hard work paid off, because now he has an excuse to meet with his biology crush :) he continued to hope that you would use only him for help, secretly wanting to get closer to you. now he finally had a chance!
writing a smutty continuation later of course, just want to start it off with a lil sweetness like i did with jeonghan’s <3

Drabbles: Brooklyn Baby (with Mingyu)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bar was packed with people rubbing shoulders and sipping overpriced beer.
Waving to the bartender, you settled into your seat by the counter. Minghao sent you a smile and started filling a pint with your favourite beer.
You scanned the crowd, spotting a few familiar faces. Jeonghan and Joshua chatting happily in a booth. Jun was by the pool table with a few of his friends. You even spotted Jihoon sitting on his own in a little corner. On any other day, you’d probably join one of your friends, today, however, you were late after coming from a previous appointment.
Loud feedback from the microphone put all the buzzing conversation to rest, the attention now on the stage.
Your boyfriend stood next to his bandmates, looking ever so gorgeous with a bass guitar hanging off his shoulder.
Tonight Mingyu was in a black top that showed off his arms nicely. You could see the way his muscles contracted as he played the guitar. Ever the heart throb, Mingyu would send a few winks to some girls when he noticed them staring.
You sipped your drink as you enjoyed the familiar music.
When the band finished their set, people stood up to cheer, some screaming for an encore. The boys set down their instruments and came down from the stage. Girls immediately surrounded Seokmin, his face turning red from all the attention. Seungcheol joined Jeonghan and Joshua at their table, a pint of beer magically appearing in his hand. Wonwoo joined Jihoon after sending Jun a greeting.
Mingyu made his way towards you. He had to cross the entire bar to reach you. It was comical how many girls had hopeful looks on their faces as he moved in your direction, their faces turned sour as soon as they realised he was just passing through.
You hopped off the bar stool as Mingyu approached. He wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you towards him.
“Hey baby,” He breathed.
His other hand guiding your chin, bringing you to meet his eyes.
“Hey, handsome.” A lazy smile on your face as you gripped his arms.
He smirked before leaning down to give you a kiss.
Your lips melded with his as he tightened his grip around you. You moaned in content, satisfied after a long day of work.
You pulled away and giggled at the way your boyfriend chased your lips.
Sighing, you circled your arm around Mingyu’s neck. Your faces still close enough so your lips were touching.
“My boyfriend’s pretty cool.” You murmured.
“Yeah?” He whispered, giving you small kiss as you spoke.
“He’s in a band.”
Mingyu hummed, enjoying the way your lips moved against his.
“He plays guitar.”
“He can do more than play guitar.” He whispered.
“But he’s not as cool as me.”
“Mmm, I agree.” Mingyu muttered, his half lidded eyes filled with love.
a/n: i woke up this morning singing brooklyn baby (literally never heard it before) and thought that Mingyu would be a good centre for this song :D

seventeen as their songs' choreographies
pls i binged their dance practices and then suddenly i was like "hey this wld make a good hc!!!!" so here we are. here's which svt song choreo (specifically just the dance movements) i think each member would be
masterlist
Tumblr media
seungcheol
super. no, it's not just bc of the fits and stylings that he had during the comeback stages that he absolutely slayed, but the choreography itself feels weirdly like scoups: the power, the confidence and the martial arts-esque moves feel like him
jeonghan
fear. maybe a bit unexpected, but the choreo is almost dangerously beautiful and very jeonghan. it's the kind of beauty that's like watching someone's destructive downfall and being unable to look away
joshua
dream. he's just having so!!!! much!!!! fun!!!! during the choreography video but also. it's so fucking CUTE and makes me think of him like?? the swaying arms and the little bobbing up and down is adorable and He's adorable and oh lord i need to have a lie down bc it's just too cute
junhui
aju nice. the chaoticism of the choreo which looks all whirlwind-crazy before you realise that their cohesiveness is actually incredible is such a junhui thing actually. it's such a bright and messy and energetic choreo in the most polished way
hoshi
crush. the choreo has kinda gay, kinda sexy vibes and they make use of really clever positioning in triangles/ parallel lines to give it a really sleek, powerful feel. honestly it just feels like it has hoshi written all over it
wonwoo
thanks. so much of the choreo makes me think of waves crashing and falling—the canon movements, the arms, the rising and falling actions—and there's something so heart-wrenching and powerful about it.
woozi
hitorijanai. the slow gentleness, the delicacy, the arm movements that seem to connote something gentle and opening up to the world all make me think of him. woozi has always been like a fairy in my eyes, and this choreo embodies exactly that
minghao
don't wanna cry. the synchronisation and canon moves are off-the-charts levels of gorgeous. also the way they tell the story with mostly only their arm movements is mesmerising and beautiful and so elegant and yearning that it reminds me of minghao
mingyu
left & right. the choreography is just so fun to look at. like, you watch them dancing and you genuinely get an exhilarated feeling of utter joy bc the choreo is so fresh and fun and idk it just feels like a mingyu-esque dance to me
dokyeom
anyone. genuinely could Not take my eyes off this guy in particular whilst watching the choreo vid n it's bc he makes the moves look so clean, esp that part where they move the movement from the arms into the legs??? literally gorgeous.
seungkwan
mansae. the choreography is sharp and fresh and clean and sooo bright. you can positively feel the groove in the movements alone, and the way they change formation so seamlessly with such sharpness is such seungkwan vibes
vernon
clap. iconic dance practice moment aside, this rlly is unironically vernon cuz it's just such a funny and fun choreo. that part where they almost crawl across the floor has me giggling every time and the amount of body shaking is so funny to me
chan
_world. it's just- it's just a cute song with the cutest choreo ever. i don't know why it makes me think of chan oh lord but the little skippy steps that they do and the adorable hip popping is just soooo so dino coded to me

SEVENTEEN MEMBERS AND HOW I WOULD KISS THEM [WITH REASONS]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
note: i would say sorry for this but i really am not. it's old news that i'm far from normal about seventeen so here's a post really proving it :) still, it's crazy that i've only known them from a year (lol this post from a year ago is so silly) so i'm feeling all kinds of sentimental lately. i love seventeen and i think i always will, in one way or another. enjoy this absolutely self-indulgent brainrot of a post!
SEUNGCHEOL - with tongue. immediately
i take this man very seriously so i’m gonna have to kiss him like i mean it. i’d be crazy to do anything but kiss this guy on the mouth because let’s be honest i will be thinking about it for the rest of my life
JEONGHAN - everywhere and all over
you’re gonna have to pull me off him because once i have access i will be peppering his face left and right with kisses sorry i’m just that batshit crazy
JOSHUA - cheek kiss
i’ve said before that i see joshua as a brother (the parasocial relationships are getting out of hand i hope that helps) so even a cheek kiss is a bit much but i wanna show him affection one way or another
JUN - a peck on his nose
the only appropriate way to kiss a cat… also he’s the most adorable little guy to me so this just feels right
SOONYOUNG - i’d take a bite out of him
i’m serious. look at the guy!!! i’ll actually die if i don’t bite him like he’s just so bite-sized and also isn't that how tigers mate or something (i’m the biggest horangdan alive next question please)
WONWOO - both of his cheeks
have you seen his smile??? he's the sweetest and i can't think of a better way to appreciate than to kiss his cheeks. i hope he smiles for a long long time
JIHOON - pat on the head
i’m not messing with him yo... we can just talk it out by which i mean i ugly cry to him about how much i love him but i'm doing anything else
SEOKMIN - hug and a kiss
best case scenario i stop at a hug! i need to express how precious he is and can't think of a better way. he's just everything to me and he needs to know that. kissing him gently because he's just the best
MINGYU - i'm proposing
good luck separating me from him! with any luck i’ll have made out with him and proposed to him because kim mingyu is the greeenest flag on god's green earth and the only man you could convince me to marry
MINGHAO - blowing kiss
i'm scared of him too so bluetooth will have to convey my love for him. minghao please don't perceive me as a weirdo i'm just a huge fan haha love u...
SEUNGKWAN - forehead kiss
kwan is my baby so i will baby him to death... but seriously, i can't put into words how i feel about him yet but he's a rare species so a rare type of kiss to express that
HANSOL - a wave will do
LMAO i'm just kidding (no i'm not) i have the biggest friend crush on vernon if you know what i mean... like i just wanna hang with him and hear what he has to say so bad... so i'm waving at him from a distance to save my chances at befriending him
CHAN - kiss on the hand
this boy oh god he's also soooo precious so i have to treat him right. he's so talented and idk i feel like kissing his hand would just be so classy and elegant like haha i'm so cool about you lee chan please don't run away from me

the members were scattered around the dance studio, lounging on the sofas, warming up with relaxed steps, or exchanging jokes. the rehearsal for lollapalooza berlin was about to begin, but the atmosphere was light, filled with the low sound of music playing in the background and the laughter that echoed as mingyu teased seungkwan about a move he kept messing up.
suddenly, the door burst open, and seokmin entered the studio with an explosive energy that made everyone look up at once. he had his phone in one hand, his breath quickened, and his eyes shining like never before. a huge smile dominated his face, and he could barely contain his excitement, practically bouncing with joy.
seungcheol furrowed his brow, both concerned and curious. "what's going on? did you win the lottery, seokmin?"
seokmin shook his head frantically, his breath still heavy, and clutched the phone to his chest as if it were the greatest treasure in the world. "you won't believe it... you... you know who just sent me a message?"
the other members exchanged confused looks, but curiosity was growing. "who, man?" vernon asked, watching closely as minghao approached, intrigued.
seokmin dropped to his knees on the floor, the sparkle in his eyes almost radiating. "y/n! y/n herself!" he repeated your name with a mix of disbelief and pure joy, as if he needed to confirm that it was really happening.
the members' eyes widened in visible surprise. jeonghan, who was closest, widened his eyes and let out a low whistle. "are you serious? y/n, the singer you talk about all day long? her?"
"yes!" seokmin nearly shouted, laughing in shock as he struggled to contain his excitement. "she reached out because she wants me to perform with her! at lollapalooza! she wants me to sing with her!" he threw himself back on the floor dramatically.
"this is amazing, seokmin!" wonwoo shouted, smiling genuinely. "man, you're going to sing with y/n! this is huge!"
seokmin nodded, still in disbelief, and sat down on the floor. "i can't believe she knows who i am! that she wants me to be there with her! she even mentioned she likes our songs!" he waved his phone as proof, and the smile on his face was the widest anyone had ever seen. "you have no idea how much this means to me... it's y/n, guys!"
the excitement was palpable, and the members didn't miss the chance to tease their friend. "i told you all that fanboying was going to pay off," seungkwan teased, pushing seokmin's shoulder with a broad grin. "it's going to be incredible, hyung! you're going to kill it, and she's going to love singing with you!"
seokmin laughed, his heart still racing, and took a deep breath, trying to process the surreal moment. "i still can't believe it..."
"and if you get nervous up there, just remember that you're dk, seventeen's vocalist, and now also y/n's partner," jeonghan said with an encouraging smile, patting his back. "she couldn't have picked a better person."
seungcheol, with a big smile on his face, asked, "so, what did you say to her? you accepted, right?"
seokmin hesitated, biting his lower lip. he looked around, taking in the friends who had always been with him during the most important moments of his career. "actually... i haven't replied yet." the studio fell momentarily silent, and seokmin laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "i wanted to check with you guys first. like... i don't know, if you think it's okay for me to accept, if it won't mess anything up. you guys always help me with the big decisions, so i didn't want to do this without hearing what you think."
the other members looked at him for a second, and then seungkwan shook his head with an amused smile. "are you serious, seokmin? we're talking about y/n asking you to perform at lollapalooza! of course, it's okay! go and show her why you're the best vocalist around."
minghao patted seokmin's back. "this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. we'll be here supporting you all the way, so don't even think twice. just say yes!"
jeonghan nodded with a gentle smile. "this is going to be amazing for you and for us too, seeing you accomplish something so big. don't worry, we're all proud of you."
seokmin's eyes filled with emotion, and he nodded, deeply grateful. "you guys are the best. really, thanks for this." with an excited sigh and his heart pounding, he unlocked his phone, opening y/n's message. he typed with slightly trembling fingers, trying to contain his excitement as each word was carefully chosen.
seokmin: hi, y/n! this is dokyeom. seokmin: i’m so happy about your invitation! seokmin: first, i need to say that i’m a huge fan of your work, and getting this message from you is surreal for me. seokmin: i’d love to be part of your performance at lollapalooza and share this special moment with you. count on me to make something amazing on stage!
he took a deep breath before hitting the send button, and the members gathered around, curious and excited. when he finally hit send, everyone jumped on him in celebration. laughter and cheers filled the room, everyone thrilled that seokmin was fulfilling a fan’s dream. it didn’t take long for the phone to vibrate, and seokmin’s eyes widened as he started shouting, "she replied, she replied!"
you: hi, seokmin! i’m so glad you agreed! you: i love your talent, and i’m sure that together we’ll create an unforgettable performance! you: let’s schedule our first rehearsal tomorrow afternoon at the studio, at 3 pm, if that works for you. you: i can’t wait to get started! see you then! 😊
seokmin read the message with a smile that seemed to light up the studio. "she scheduled the first rehearsal for tomorrow! at 3 pm! she said it’s going to be unforgettable!"
the members burst into more celebrations, showering seokmin with hugs and words of encouragement. the group’s rehearsal was important, but at that moment, everyone knew that seokmin’s next step would be something extraordinary. he was about to live one of the biggest dreams of his career, and the thought of sharing the stage with you made his heart race like never before.
the day of the first rehearsal arrived faster than seokmin had imagined. anxious and determined to make a good impression, he arrived at the studio early, well before the scheduled time. his hands were slightly sweaty, and his heart was racing, but he felt ready to face that surreal moment. he sat on one of the benches in the hallway outside the recording studio, trying to calm his nerves while repeatedly checking the clock.
the anticipation grew with each passing minute, and he could hardly believe he was there, about to rehearse with you, the artist he admired so much. he took a deep breath, listening to calm music through his headphones, trying to relax, but his thoughts were running wild, imagining how your first interaction would be. so he rehearsed mentally what to say and how to act.
a few minutes later, you appeared in the hallway, carrying two takeaway coffee cups and a warm smile that lit up the space. seokmin quickly stood up, almost tripping over his own feet but managing to compose himself just in time.
“hi, dokyeom!” you greeted him with a friendly smile, extending one of the cups toward him. “i hope you like coffee. i brought one for you.”
he blinked, surprised and touched by the simple but thoughtful gesture. “oh, yes, i love it! thank you!” he carefully took the cup as if it were a precious gift. he was truly moved that you had thought of him on your way. his heart raced even faster, but he managed to maintain his composure, internally grateful that he hadn’t let his emotions show too much.
as you walked together down the hallway toward the studio, you started chatting casually, lightening the mood. “you know, i love seventeen. the energy you all bring to the stage is incredible, and your voice always impresses me. it’s powerful and full of emotion at the same time.”
seokmin felt his face heat up, trying to hide the blush that was surely appearing. “really? thank you! that means a lot, coming from you. i... i’ve always admired your work. your songs have a unique sensitivity, and being able to sing with you is just amazing.”
you smiled, appreciating the sincere compliment. when you reached the studio door, you paused before opening it, turning to him with a gentle look. “this studio is one of my favorite places to rehearse. i like to keep it quiet; i know you’re used to having a lot of people at rehearsals, but i hope you don’t mind it being just the two of us today.”
seokmin almost laughed in relief and surprise. “mind? not at all! actually, this is perfect. i was a bit nervous, but now... it feels like i’m exactly where i’m supposed to be.”
you opened the studio door, revealing a cozy space with soft lighting and a decor that exuded creativity and comfort. the environment was comforting, with instruments neatly arranged and some personal touches that showed how much that place meant to you. and he walked in, observing everything with great care.
“i’m glad you feel that way,” you said as you both entered the studio. “i’m really excited to create something with you."
seokmin smiled, finally allowing himself to relax. the warm atmosphere and your calm presence made him feel that he was about to experience something truly special. and he was ready to give his best, for you, for himself, and for the fans who were about to witness something unforgettable.
after you entered the studio, the first thing you did was take off your jacket, revealing a comfortable t-shirt that perfectly matched the relaxed vibe of the studio. you casually hung it on the chair next to you, showing a familiarity and ease that left seokmin impressed. there was something about the way you moved, confident and natural, that made him feel more at ease too.
you turned to him with a warm smile, crossing your arms in a relaxed manner. "there’s a specific song i’d really love to sing with you at the festival," you began, and seokmin felt his heart leap. "ever since i first heard it, i’ve been completely hooked on it. it’s from the soundtrack of twenty-five, twenty-one..." you laughed shyly as you revealed your current favorite song.
seokmin stood still for a moment, his eyes wide with surprise. he couldn’t believe what he had just heard. "you... you know i’m the one who sings 'go!'?" he asked, still a bit stunned.
you giggled, nodding affirmatively. "of course i know! your voice is unmistakable. from the first time i heard it, i couldn’t stop listening. the energy, the emotion... it’s incredible. and i think it would be perfect for us to sing together."
seokmin felt a wave of pride and happiness wash over him. not only did you, the artist he admired so much, know the song, but you wanted to sing it with him. he could barely contain the smile spreading across his face. "i... of course, i’m in! it would be an honor to sing 'go!' with you. actually, it’s one of my favorite songs to sing."
your eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "great! it’s going to be amazing. i was hoping you’d say that." you approached the soundboard and began preparing the space for rehearsal. "shall we start then? i want to see how our voices blend in this song."
seokmin felt his heart race even faster with your excitement. he had been nervous before, but now it was a different kind of nervousness—one that came from anticipation and the joy of being about to create something really special. he knew this rehearsal would be unforgettable, not just for what it meant to him, but for the connection he already felt beginning to form between you through the music.
as you prepared everything, seokmin approached the microphone, adjusting it to his height. he still couldn’t believe his luck at being there, sharing the studio with you. when you finally positioned yourself next to him, ready to start, he took a deep breath, feeling the energy in the air. he took a deep breath. "let’s do this," he said, with a smile that mixed emotion and determination.
and when the first notes of 'go!' began to play, seokmin knew that this would be one of the most memorable moments of his career.
during the rehearsal, without realizing it, seokmin had a natural talent for making you laugh. every time he spoke, he made you smile in a genuine and carefree way. whether it was a spontaneous joke or a funny gesture, he was always creating a light and fun atmosphere, unaware of the impact he had.
you were enchanted. the connection you felt with seokmin during the rehearsal was something that transcended the music. you were so involved that laughter came easily, and the small interactions between you were creating a natural harmony. seokmin, in turn, was amazed that he was actually making someone as talented and admired as you laugh that way.
when the rehearsal finally ended, you looked at seokmin with a sincere smile, satisfaction written all over your face. “i want you to know that it was a huge pleasure meeting you in person. you have such a light and happy energy; it’s contagious. i really hope our contact doesn’t end after the festival performance. i’d love to build a friendship with you.”
seokmin was visibly moved, his eyes shining with gratitude. “i also really enjoyed meeting you, y/n. it was an amazing experience, and i really hope we can keep in touch. this rehearsal was one of the best experiences of my career.”
you said goodbye with a shy hug, laughing just as shyly, and seokmin left the studio with a sense of fulfillment and joy. the way home felt lighter and brighter, and he couldn’t wait to share what happened with the members.
when he got home, seokmin immediately grabbed his phone and sent a message to the members.
with a smile on his face and his heart still racing from the wonderful day, he typed:
seokmin: guys, you won’t believe how amazing today’s rehearsal was! seokmin: i met y/n, and she’s even more wonderful than i imagined. and even more beautiful!!!! seokmin: we rehearsed "go!" together, and it was an experience i’ll never forget. CAN YOU BELIEVE SHE LOVES THIS SONG? seokmin: she’s super fun, and her energy is simply contagious. we got along so well, and she even said she hopes we keep in touch after the festival. seokmin: i don’t think i’ll be able to sleep tonight.

You tapped the bartop impatiently as you waited for your blind date to show up. You couldn’t believe that Danbi had roped you into this, but you had lost the game of darts fair and square. As a result, you were here waiting for a man named Minghao to show up. Part of you really wanted to skip out on this, because you just did not trust Danbi’s romantic sensibilities. She had dated a string of truly boring and strange people for months before you had finally set her up with Seungcheol. There was no way this Minghao was going to be anywhere near suited for you, but you were a person of your word, so you would do the date and be done with it.
“Hey, are you YN?” a voice called from above your left shoulder. You turned your head to see a tall, lanky individual with dark hair looking curiously at you.
“Yes, are you Minghao?” you sat up straight, fixing him with a smile. He wasn’t your usual type, physically, but you couldn’t deny he was handsome.
“Yes, nice to meet you,” he smiled, taking the barstool next to you.
“So how do you know Danbi?” you asked after he had ordered with the bartender.
“Ah, so,” Minghao looked almost sheepish, “I helped Jeonghan get together with the person he’s dating now. One of my close friends! And so I met Seungcheol and Danbi through Jeonghan.”
“Oh?” you calculated the degrees of separation quickly in your mind. “So you don’t really know Danbi at all, then!”
“Not well,” Minghao shook his head. “I was kind of surprised when Jeonghan told me that she wanted to set me up on a date.”
“I-,” you laughed, somehow relieved to find out that this hadn’t been any serious effort on your friend’s part. “Honestly, thank god! No offense to you, I obviously don’t know you, but Danbi historically has not impressed me with her taste in men.”
“No offense taken,” Minghao chuckled, bringing his cocktail to his lips for a quick sip. “So does that mean you’re the resident matchmaker in your friend group as well?”
“Very much so,” you nodded, “So I’m not sure exactly what Danbi thinks she’s up to, trying to take my title. In fact, I bet even I could set you up with someone better! And I don’t even know you at all!” you blustered.
“Oh really?” Minghao’s eyebrow raised. You were funny.
“What, you don’t believe me?” you furrowed your brows at him.
“I mean, no one is a better matchmaker than me, so my bar is pretty high,” he replied smugly. “I’ve only ever had one couple break up, and it was due to one of their jobs making them move away.”
“Out of how many?” you found yourself curious.
“...Eight?” Minghao had to tally in his mind quickly.
“Hah! That’s nothing!” you waved him off easily, “I’ve successfully set up eleven couples and none of them have broken up yet!”
Minghao smiled, amused by your bright and confident energy. While you clearly weren’t suited for him, he found himself wanting to beat you at your own game.
“Set me up then,” he invited confidently. “But I bet I can find you a match sooner than you can find one for me.”
“Oh?” you grinned at his gamelike proposal. Before you even knew it, the words came out of your mouth, “You’re on!”
Minghao laughed, shaking your hand enthusiastically. You spent the rest of your “date” exchanging phone numbers and excitedly reviewing each other’s basic likes and dislikes. Minghao wasn’t your type, but he certainly was interesting! He worked in HR for a tech company, had interests in art and fashion, and also had trained in mixed martial arts as a child? Quite a strange array of hobbies, but you were so going to win this thing!
“So, how did it go?” Minghao’s voice sounded slightly tinny through your headphones.
“Not good,” you were almost excited to report on how badly the date had gone. “I would rate your matchmaking skills like a 4 out of 10 right now!”
“Excuse me?” Minghao stopped in his tracks. Surely he had misheard you.
“Four. Out of ten.” you repeated yourself, grinning at the way you could tell he was surprised by your feedback.
“No, that can’t be right.”
“Allow me to elaborate,” you pressed on as you decided to take the long way home so you could regale Minghao with every last detail of why your date with Wonwoo had not been stellar. “First…could you have found someone more quiet or disinterested to have set me up with? You’d think I was trying to pull his teeth out!”
Minghao squeezed his eyes together. He and Wonwoo had built up their rapport over many years and hed somehow forgotten just how tight-lipped his friend could be when meeting someone new.
“Also his only hobby seems to be gaming? I don’t know anything about that nor do I have an interest,” you continued. “Ah, it’s so nice out!” you commented as an aside while you pulled a pink bloom to your nose to inhale.
“Oh are you outside?” Minghao couldn’t help but ask.
“Yep, I’m walking home!” you nodded, “Oh I’m glad I took the long way! I forgot how much I like this park.”
“It is a nice day out,” Minghao looked out the glass panes of his office. He was painfully close to the end of his day and truth be told, he was excited to run out the clock with you on the phone. “So anyways, where are my four points coming from, because I haven’t heard anything positive yet.”
“Oh, well, I mean. I’m going to chalk that up to Wonwoo’s looks, really. He’s unbelievably handsome. Almost too handsome!” you threw your hands up in the air, drawing a few odd looks from other pedestrians.
Minghao laughed. It was true, Wonwoo was probably his most conventionally attractive friend, so it wasn’t a surprise to hear you say it too.
“Okay, so then…very cold on the personality traits, but very hot on the physical features. I can work off of that,” Minghao nodded, scanning through his mental roster of friends. Luckily, Wonwoo was probably the most introverted of them all, so it could only go upwards from here.
“Yep. Oh which! I have a candidate for you,” you clapped excitedly as you waited for the crosswalk to turn green. “My friend Yena!”
Minghao nodded contemplatively as you rattled off the list of compatible points that you saw for him and this Yena. He had his doubts, but he put your proposed date and time in his calendar. A deal was a deal.
“Okay, I’m almost home, so I’m going to hang up now! I’ll text Yena to confirm! Eee, I’m excited to hear what you think!”
“Okay, bye,” Minghao laughed, glancing at the clock again. It was officially quitting time, so he packed up his bag and headed out of the office. You’d been right, it was a beautiful day out, so he decided to switch up his commute as well. As he walked, he found himself wondering which park you had passed through on your way home.
[yn]: ‘sooooooo…………yena?!?!???!’
[minghao]: ‘6/10’
You narrowed your eyes in disbelief. Six out of ten?!
[yn]: ‘BE SO FUCKIN FR RIGHT NOW’
[minghao]: ‘no, I actually really liked her, but she said she doesn’t eat chinese food?! i can’t live like that’
What? Surely you had eaten Chinese food with Yena before, right? You racked your brain, but unfortunately came up empty handed. You had to admit, that was a big blind spot on your part.
[yn]: ‘.........i guess that has never come up before. my bad! i know that’s important to you’
[yn]: ‘i’m still up 2 tho! 6 against your 4.’
Minghao threw his head back to laugh. You were so competitive.
[yn]: ‘ok feedback on other qualities tho! plz & thank u’
Minghao waited, an amused smile on his lips, for your three dots to vanish before providing your requested feedback. As he had said, overall he had quite enjoyed meeting Yena. She had been a little quiet and shy at first, but had opened up quite a bit as the date went on. They shared an interest in art and had had quite a nice discussion before she revealed that she did not like Chinese food. Normally an aversion to specific food wouldn’t bother Minghao so much, but after moving, it was important for him to continue to engage with his culture and food was a major way in which he did that.
[yn]: ‘ok, got it, got it. that makes perfect sense’
A soft smile settled on his lips. Minghao was glad that you weren’t taking too much offense to his negative feedback. Part of him was glad that the date hadn’t gone that well and he was sure that it was just his competitive nature. It would have been humiliating for him if you had actually found him someone perfect on the first try.
[minghao]: ‘what are your plans for the weekend?’
[yn]: ‘theres a textile and apparel exhibit opening at the folk art museum that i wanted to check out’
[minghao]: ‘oh?? i was planning to go too! when are you going?’
You cocked your head curiously at your phone. That was weird. But you realized it would be very helpful to observe Minghao in the wild so as to do a better job choosing prospective dates for him. Then you could review your roster of candidates for him after the museum, so it could be a productive time! With a fluttery feeling in your chest, for whatever reason, you chose a meeting time to visit the museum with Minghao. Together.
You tapped your fisted hands against your hips as you scanned the crowds for Minghao. It had been a few weeks since you had first met him in person and you had an unreasonable worry that you’d forgotten what his face looked like. Glancing at your watch, you wondered if you had gotten the time wrong.
“YN!” a clear voice caught your attention.
“Ah, there you are!” your face cracked into a smile up at Minghao. “Ok, I’m glad I decided to dress up!” you exhaled with relief after taking in his outfit. He hadn’t been kidding when he’d said he was interested in fashion.
“This outfit is very cool,” he nodded approvingly, eyes raking over you. An unreasonable warmth spread across you at his assessment. You had spent longer than usual picking and re-picking necklaces to match the hardware on your boots. It was nice to see that it was appreciated.
“Thank you!” you beamed up at him, eyes creasing into semi-circles. “Now let’s go!” you gestured forcefully at the museum entrance.
“Okay, okay,” Minghao chuckled goodnaturedly, allowing you to lead the way.
“Holy fuck,” you breathed, hands fisted in excitement as you peered closely at the thread and beadwork on a contemporary bobbin lace exhibit. “Unreal.”
Minghao had to do a double take. Your mouth had fallen slightly open, enthralled, as you took in the detail and your eyes were as wide as saucers. You looked like a cartoon frog.
“You’ll catch a fly like that,” he teased, slipping two fingertips under your chin to snap your mouth shut.
You narrowed your eyes at him. If you’d learned one thing today, it was that Minghao was quite prone to teasing. It was a good thing that you had agreed to this museum trip after all, because otherwise your list of next candidates would’ve been wildly out of order.
“Do you want to see the other exhibits too? Or are you only interested in fiber arts?” Minghao asked, looking up from the museum layout map.
“No, I’m interested in all mediums!” you nodded at him. “I just think textile arts have been woefully excluded from the mainstream art world because, you know, misogyny,” you rolled your eyes theatrically at him as you followed his lead. “So I am particularly interested when museums put together exhibits like that!”
Minghao’s lips pinched slightly in amusement. He agreed with you, of course, but he found your animated enthusiasm in high contrast to the serious backdrop of the museum hall. He led the way to one of his favorite areas and you two passed the rest of the afternoon walking through the displays in contemplative quiet.
“I’m hungry,” you frowned as you left the museum.
“Me too,” Minghao grabbed at his midsection. “Let’s go find something to eat!”
“There’s a Chinese restaurant around here that I like! Let’s go there!” you suggested. Minghao nodded furiously, stomach grumbling insistently at him.
You glanced at your date out of the side of your eye as you wondered how rude it might be to just leave. While Joshua was certainly your physical type, all arms and chest, you quickly found out that the contents of his brain were just not for you. You weren’t religious at all and if he broke out into song, singing ‘Sunday Morning’ at or near you one more time, you might actually run away.
After going through the motions of saying goodbye, you pulled your phone out to dial Minghao as soon as you started walking home.
“Hello?” he answered, sounding slightly groggy.
“I need to understand your thought process with this one,” you shook your head in disbelief.
“Huh?” Minghao rubbed his eyes, pulling his phone away to check who had called. “Oh, hey! Sorry I just woke up.”
“Oh, did I wake you up?” you paused, “Shit, sorry! You didn’t have to answer me!”
“I didn’t know it was you! I also hadn’t meant to fall asleep,” Minghao chuckled and you heard some rustling of sheets in the background. “Sorry, what did you ask me again?”
“I need to know why you set me up with Joshua,” you frowned. “Do I give off a vibe that he’s my type?”
“Is he not?” Minghao wondered, “He’s more outgoing than Wonwoo, still handsome, and family oriented.”
“Okay, those things are true, but he’s also super religious, which I’m not. And I do not like to be sung at in public…or at all, I don’t think.”
“No, please,” Minghao started laughing, “Did he? I didn’t think he’d bring that out on a first date!” Minghao couldn’t stop laughing, practically kicking his feet in delight at the absurdity of it.
“Yeah, several times, in fact,” you rolled your eyes.
“Why are you so difficult to match for?” Minghao found himself asking. He was partially teasing, but also somewhat serious. People generally threw themselves at both Wonwoo and Joshua, so to hear you be so turned off by them was surprising and confusing.
“I’m not difficult! I think my expectations are more than reasonable,” you nodded firmly to yourself.
“Okay, elaborate on these expectations, please, because I’m clearly missing the mark.”
“Hm, well, okay. Someone funny and intelligent with a wide variety of interests or knowledge. Someone who would challenge me in ways that make me grow. Someone who also can understand that I should have my own endeavors and activities without feeling insecure. I dunno, someone who just gets me!”
“Very reasonable,” Minghao’s flat voice came back across the phone.
“It is reasonable!” you stamped your foot. You felt like he was teasing you again, but it was hard to tell over the phone.
“No, that’s helpful!” he clarified.
“Why are you asleep at 8pm anyways, you old man?” you suddenly remembered.
“Ugh, it was a long day,” he groaned into your ear, “I had to get to work early to prepare onboarding materials for new hires and then when I got home, I just passed out I guess.”
“Ah, well, do you want me to let you go? You should go back to sleep and catch up on yesterday.”
“No, I’m up now,” Minghao shook his head, reluctant to end the phone call. “Tell me about the restaurant, was the food at least good?”
You smiled, happy to stay on the line with him. The food had indeed been good and you described your meal and cocktails to him in vivid detail. You were now in your second month of knowing Minghao and your relationship had evolved into a tentatively comfortable friendship. Between all of the set up activities, you’d actually gotten to know him a bit and grown used to discussing and sharing other aspects of your lives. Minghao was definitely an introvert, but he was well balanced with an energy and enthusiasm that ensured you were never bored.
“Wait, I’m confused. You told me that the date with Minghao didn’t go well, but you’ve stayed in touch with him?” Danbi’s forehead wrinkled in confusion.
“What are you confused about? That’s exactly right,” you returned her confused look.
“Why would you stay in touch with someone you don’t like?”
“I never said I didn’t like him!” you shook your head, confused at her statement.
“You liked him, but the date didn’t go well? Why wouldn’t the date go well if you like him?”
“I can like him as a friend and not want to date him!”
Danbi narrowed her eyes at you. She didn’t think you were that petty, but it was almost as if you were purposefully maintaining a distance between yourself and Minghao just to spite her.
“So what do you two talk about?” she was curious.
“We’ve been setting each other up on dates! Supposedly he’s the friend group matchmaker, like me, but he’s pretty bad at it,” you chuckled, rolling your eyes. “But we talk about other things too! He likes art and fashion. We went to the textile exhibit opening a few weeks ago.”
Danbi shook her head; she was lost. Wasn’t that just a date? Luckily she knew you better than to prod too much further.
“Well that’s good! It’s always nice to make a new friend,” she smiled at you, “He should come to Soonyoung’s housewarming party next week!”
“Should he?”
“Yeah, of course! Jeonghan will be there and I think he invited a few of his coworkers too so see if Minghao wants to come!”
“Ah, I guess so,” you nodded, somehow nervous, “I’ll ask, but no promises.”
“Sure!” Danbi laughed, “Now let me show you some pictures of Doyun with Jeonghan and his new partner! Who you also have to meet!”
You giggled happily as Danbi flipped through her photos. Doyun had always looked more like Seungcheol as a baby, but now that he was getting older, he was taking on more and more of your friend’s features.
“Ah, he looks so much like you there! Ahhhh!” you shook your fists excitedly.
“He does look more like me recently, doesn’t he?” she beamed proudly at you.
For all the headache you had posed to her with this Minghao situation, she did love you and was grateful towards you for gently nudging her towards Seungcheol many years ago. You were very astute at reading others and as a result, she now had a wonderful husband and son. It had always interested and amused her that your insightfulness didn’t quite extend to yourself.
“Eeeee!” you and Soonyoung clapped your hands together excitedly after you’d sunk another ping pong ball into a plastic cup.
“Just perfect! Look at that technique! You duds don’t stand a chance!” he crowed, jeering at Seungcheol and Seokmin excitedly.
Danbi giggled excitedly at her husband’s rotten luck, to which Seungcheol pouted.
“Ya! Who are you even cheering for?!” he shouted playfully, leveling an accusing finger at his wife, inspiring another round of giggles.
“Me, of course! I can find her another husband, she can’t find another me!” you laughed, jumping up and down in delight at the way that Seungcheol fumed.
“You’re dead!” he furrowed his brows at you, “You’re so dead!” He made a show of stretching his neck and shoulders before taking his next shot at beer pong.
“Hah!” you shouted and shook Hoshi excitedly, collapsing into a puddle of laughter as Seungcheol’s ball ricocheted dramatically off of the rim and bounced anticlimactically across the ground. “Oh no, oh Cheol please I’m crying!” you hiccuped, wiping your eyes.
Minghao had slipped in quietly while you were taunting Seungcheol and he was shocked at the way you did it so loudly and unapologetically. He didn’t know Seungcheol quite that well yet, but he had been under the impression that he probably shouldn’t be messed with too much. A smile toyed at the corners of his mouth before he moved away to grab a beverage.
“You made it!” Danbi appeared at his side while he popped the cap off of a beer.
“Hi Danbi,” Hao smiled kindly at her. He had met Danbi through Jeonghan a while ago and for whatever reason, she had really taken a shine to him.
“Did you find the place alright?”
“Yes, YN’s instructions were very easy to follow.”
“Great! Let me know if there’s anyone here that you haven’t met yet, but I think you may know them all!”
Minghao nodded. Looking around the room, it did seem like he knew most of the attendees. Jeonghan and his girlfriend were flanked by a few of their other coworkers. By some miracle Seokmin and Seungcheol had both managed to find babysitters tonight, and so were able to attend with their wives, Hana and Danbi. Joshua was on another date, after he and YN had not managed to hit things off, so Jeonghan’s friend group was short just one of the usual count.
“Ha! Ha! Ha!” you laughed with Hoshi after winning yet another game of beer pong. You and he had been nearly undefeatable since college and it was nice to see that this hadn’t changed, even after he had moved away for a few years. “Oh pink?” you wondered aloud when you spotted Minghao chatting with Jeonghan over a beer.
“You’re here!” you interrupted their conversation easily, fingers itching to touch his pink hair. “Is this a fade out color?”
“Yes,” he laughed, “The murder scene every time I showered was starting to get old.”
“I can’t believe your hair hasn’t just fallen straight out of your head,” Jeonghan’s girlfriend shook her head with a laugh.
“Hah!” you laughed heartily, struggling to imagine Minghao bald.
“I’d love it if you didn’t curse me with this foul energy,” he rolled his eyes at all of you.
“Did you all see how I swept the floor with Seungcheol? Again?” you crowed excitedly to Jeonghan.
“Yes, yes, very good,” Jeonghan rolled his eyes at you. You were always such a braggart about pong.
“I can’t believe he lets you tease him like that,” Minghao gestured to Seungcheol incredulously.
“Ah, I’m a lovable scamp!” you shrugged, sticking your tongue out at your newest friend.
“That’s true,” Hao laughed, a soft smile crossing his face.
Jeonghan and his girlfriend both looked at Minghao with interest while your attention was pulled elsewhere. Danbi and Hana summoned you from across the room so you gave everyone a small wave before you left.
“So-,” Jeonghan opened his mouth to dig, but his girlfriend stopped him with a quick shake of her head. She knew Minghao would not respond to anything that direct, so it was best to meddle gently.
“What is it?” you asked once you were close enough to Danbi and Hana for them to hear you.
“We were wondering if Minghao had set you up on a successful date yet?” Hana asked, “If not, I actually met this kind of cool guy at the school yesterday.”
“Oh, no, not yet. I actually need to follow up with him on that,” you shook your head.
“Follow up? You’re being so project manager-y about this,” Hana laughed.
“I mean…it is a project that I’m managing,” you flushed, already knowing that you would say no to Hana’s proposed guy.
“Well, what do you think? He came to service the computers, so he works in IT. He’s tall, pretty broad, and has a very nice smile.”
“What’s his personality like?” you queried. It didn’t make any sense at all, but for whatever reason you felt guilty of the idea of being set by someone other than Minghao.
“I didn’t get to talk to him too much, but he seemed nice! He volunteers at an animal shelter.”
“Aww,” Danbi cooed excitedly.
“You’re going to make fun of me for saying this, but I don’t think I care,” you inhaled deeply before rejecting Danbi’s proposal. “It feels weird to think about going on a date with someone that Minghao doesn’t pick for me. So I kind of want to see how things play out with that?”
“I’m not going to make fun of you!” Danbi looked at you indignantly.
“I am!” Hana made a face at you, “You are so attached to him, like come on YN!” she gestured forcefully at you.
“Of course I’m attached to him, we’re friends!” you shrugged. “I’m attached to you doofuses too,” you gestured back with your palms up. Hana and Danbi laughed. Your love language was, indeed, teasing and they’d grown used to it long ago. You were watching them whisper to each other suspiciously before Danbi jutted her chin out, pointing at something behind you.
“Oh, JESUS!” you jumped after realizing Minghao was standing behind you. “Snuck up on me, fuckin’ hell,” you mumbled curses as you put a few paces between him and yourself.
“Let’s go play beer pong. Apparently you’re unstoppable and I need to witness this for myself,” he smirked, giving you a disbelieving once over.
“Don’t…,” you found yourself shivering under his gaze, “Look at me like that! I will win,” you let yourself think that you had recovered smoothly.
With each ball that Minghao sank into your cups, you stood up just a little straighter and your expression grew just a little more baffled. You’d never been in such a closely matched game of pong before and, honestly, you didn’t care for it.
“Hey, let’s make this more interesting,” Minghao spoke up when you were each down to one cup. You raised an eyebrow at him, gesturing for him to proceed with his idea. “If I win, I take you out on a date.”
“I-,” you choked, heart clogging your throat momentarily. “What?”
“For research purposes,” he clarified, triple checking his foot placement as he squared up his aim. “You can give me feedback and that’ll help me better tailor my matches for you in the future.” He launched the ball into the air and it sailed into your final cup easily.
“I-, wait,” you stuttered, partially in disbelief over your loss and partially for a reason that you weren’t able to identify yet. Your mouth opened and closed a few times before you could accept it.
“What, are you scared?” Minghao stepped towards you. He felt a perverse joy in the way you were reacting to his win. Something about seeing you flounder tickled his brain very specifically.
“You lost fair and square!” Soonyoung waved you off to make room for the next players.
“What exactly would I be scared of?” you blustered as Minghao herded you away from the table. “A date with you?”
“Scared you’ll like it,” he laughed, peering down at you, stepping into your personal space just slightly.
“Hah!” you let out a honking laugh. That was absurd, right? “Fine, take me out on our little date. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of feedback.”
“Great,” he grinned at you, patting you on the head condescendingly.
You were baffled. You could tell you were blushing and you weren’t really sure if you could just blame it on the beer pong loss. You snuck a glance at Minghao, whose attention was back on the party, watching Soonyoung trounce Seokmin quite soundly. He was right, you were terrified for this date.
“Ugh you look so cute!” Hana squealed excitedly, “It’s such a shame it’s just for a practice run!”
You chuckled. Sure, it was true that this date with Minghao was just for research purposes, but it hadn’t stopped you from thinking of it as if it were real.
‘wear a dress or skirt. something short or unrestricted at the bottom and shoes you can move in’ was all of the instruction that Minghao had given you.
“Maybe he’s taking you dancing?” Hana wondered aloud. “It’s kinda romantic that he’s keeping everything a surprise!”
“So romantic,” you parroted at her sarcastically.
You didn’t know why, but you felt quite nervous about this one. You had been on more than your fair share of first dates recently, so it really didn’t make sense to feel this way about the fake one. Probably just because everything was a surprise.
“Ya! Why am I nervous!?” you jumped up and down aggressively, shouting at yourself.
Hana shrugged, even though she knew the answer. Best to let you come to your own epiphany. She fretted and cooed the appropriate amount as she helped you finish your makeup and hair. You were satisfied when you looked in the mirror, but that didn’t make your armpits any less sweaty. Thank god for prescription grade antiperspirant.
“Ready?” Minghao greeted you at your door with a bouquet of flowers around half an hour later.
“I think,” you eyed him suspiciously, still irked that he hadn’t spilled a single clue about your activities.
“Put these in water so we can go!” he thrust the bouquet at you impatiently.
“Okay, okay,” you muttered. You scanned the blooms quickly and were pleased and surprised that all of them were cat safe. He’d remembered. You grabbed an empty jar and plunked the stems into it before returning to Minghao. “Is this outfit acceptable?” you paused to check, turning in a full circle so he could inspect.
“Yes,” he nodded, eyes full of something you couldn’t quite place, but it vanished just as quickly. “Now let’s go! We need to be on time.”
Minghao shepherded you into the car and drove towards your destination. You were, strangely, at a loss for words and so spent the time inspecting his car and marveled at how clean it was. Usually you couldn’t stop yourself from babbling about nonsense at him, but this simulated date seemed to have rendered you speechless. As he pulled into the parking lot, your eyes lit up reading the sign.
“Hana was right!” you grinned at him triumphantly. “It is dancing!”
“Yes,” he chuckled at your expression. It wasn’t like you were the one who had guessed right, but he’d never know that with the way you beamed at him. “Intro to Rumba! I thought it’d be fun to try something new together.”
“Rumba?” you thought hard. You weren’t well versed in ballroom dance styles, but the name rang a bell. You had definitely seen it on a ‘Something-est Things To Do With Your Partner’ kind of list. “I don’t know how to dance,” you whispered to Minghao as the other students filtered into the class.
“That’s why it’s fun,” he grinned down at you.
After beating you at beer pong last week, Minghao had been itching to get the upper hand on you again. While he wasn’t very skilled at ballroom, he did have some dance experience from his past. Rumba was also fairly sensual in nature and he would be lying if he said he wasn’t looking forward to watching you squirm and be flustered over it.
With your hands tucked behind your back, you watched intently as the instructors demonstrated the short routine that you would work on during class. You did your best to keep your cool, but you felt like everyone probably heard the sound of your loud gulp as you registered just how close together you would be with Minghao. There was probably technically some distance between the instructors, but not that you could see with the naked eye.
Minghao blinked a few times as he watched the demo with you. This was closer quarters than any other style of dance he had ever tried before and he wondered if he had made a mistake.
“Okay, right hand to left hand. Leading partner’s right hand on the following partner’s waist. Following partner’s left hand resting gently at the back of the leading partner’s neck,” the instructions came.
“Okay, right hand here, left hand here,” you muttered to yourself as Minghao clasped his left hand into your right and you hooked your left hand around the back of his neck. You managed to follow the first set of steps without tripping over yourself too spectacularly, but the next combination threw you for quite the loop.
“So now comes a sexy part,” the instructors grinned mischievously, “Leading is going to spin the following out and then pull them back in to face them. And then following partner is going to drop in a slow and sexy wiggle, their hand trailing down the leading partner’s chest.
Oh. Your lips pursed as your mind painted the mental picture of what that would look like. You resisted the urge to glance furtively at Minghao, pink rising in your cheeks.
Next to you, Minghao blinked. Once, twice, and then one more time for good measure. He had been so busy considering how this class might affect you that he hadn’t even thought of himself. The idea of you trailing your fingertips down the centerline of his chest made him want to shake his head furiously.
“Five, six, seven, eight!” The rapid counts snapped both of you out of your thoughts. “Spin out!”
You held onto Minghao’s fingers tightly as you spun away from him.
“Fancy arm!”
You flung your arm out theatrically and were inordinately pleased to make Minghao laugh.
“Now tuck your arm as you spin back in!” the instructions continued.
You bit your lip to keep from laughing before you brought your arm back to your center and spun into Minghao’s chest. Slowly, your hips drew figure eights as you worked your way down into a squat and your eyes followed your hand’s slow trail down his chest. Like watching a train wreck.
Minghao looked to the instructors for the next directions, desperate to be not looking at you. He wanted to groan. Even in this wordless touch, you were mischievous, not drawing straight down, but rather trailing a wavy line, timed with the movement of your hips on the way down.
“Now leading partner, you are going to pull them back up! Forceful! Dramatic! What are they doing down there? They’re up to no good!”
You had wanted to laugh, but when Minghao dragged you back up to your feet and looked deeply into your eyes…all of that went out the window. For a moment, the directions barked by the instructors faded into the background and all you could hear was a soft buzzing in your ears as you held his gaze.
“Very good, very good you two!” the instructors clapped excitedly as they walked towards you. “Tension! Eye contact! That’s what the rumba is all about, excellent!”
“Thank you!” You almost shouted. You were so excited to be able to rip your eyes away from Minghao that you plastered a wide grin across your face and gave an awkward thumbs up to the whole class.
“How do you do this dance without falling in love with each other?” another student wondered aloud.
“You don’t!” the instructor replied with a laugh. “Every so often you get a pair that falls in love and gets married, but in general you break up but you keep dancing together because you have good physical chemistry.”
“Yikes.” you turned to Minghao with a bemused look on your face. You were relieved to see that the tension seemed to have dissipated and he found your instructor’s comments as strange as you did. The rest of the class passed with relative ease, but the feel of his fingers resting at your waist and nipping into your hips certainly lingered longer than was ideal.
“What’d you think?” Minghao asked as he started driving to the next destination.
“That was fun,” you nodded after some consideration. “Definitely out of the box and a new experience for me. Also a very good way to gauge physical chemistry. Honestly a very good early date activity. Ten out of ten.”
He preened under your compliment. You wondered what your next activity would be, but knew that asking would get you nowhere, so you tried to fill your brain with other thoughts. After a while, you ran out of things to think about and your eyes decided to regard Minghao as he drove. His right hand lingered at the gearshift, fingers tapping every so often as his eyes stayed glued to the road. You shifted in your seat as you watched the tendons of his forearms flex in a very distracting way. The way he looked when he was focused was…unfortunately attractive.
Minghao could feel your eyes on him as he drove. He struggled to keep his attention on the road as his mind played back snippets from class. Namely, the moment when he had pulled you back up to your feet and locked eyes with you for just a little too long. Your eyes had widened and your lips had parted just slightly as you gazed back up at him and rational thought had almost left him completely.
“No, Minghao! Really?!” you squealed excitedly as he pulled into the parking lot of the botanical garden. “You remembered!”
“Of course,” he nodded, parking the car. You had mentioned the Poisonous Plants special exhibit off-handedly a few weeks ago and he had filed it away in his brain. He liked the botanical garden too.
“Look how beautiful!” you gasped as you looked at the Atropa belladonna, or Deadly Nightshade. “I can’t believe a flower this beautiful is also poison! Isn’t that cool? Such a good name too.”
Minghao chuckled. You were making your little frog face again. He didn’t know if he thought of poison as cool, but he enjoyed seeing your excitement over such a morbid topic. The expression you made when you were enthralled by something was painfully endearing to him.
“Thank you for bringing me here,” you wrapped your arms around him excitedly as you headed towards the exit archway of the garden.
“You’re welcome,” Minghao was surprised by your sudden physical affection. “You’re such a nerd, I’m glad you had a good time,” he teased as his arms folded around your waist naturally.
You wrinkled your nose at him playfully. You couldn’t help the slight hitch in your breath before you pulled away, looping your arm in his happily as you walked through the other areas of the garden. This closeness grew less and less foreign as the day went on and was directly correlated to your concern for your own sanity.
“So…what do you think?” Minghao inquired after you had settled in at your table at a rooftop restaurant and bar. He really enjoyed the ambiance here and thought you’d enjoy the food as well.
“Of?” you replied blankly, having been busy reading over the menu.
“Our date?” his brows creased together, he had not been expecting that response.
“Oh! Good! Really good, actually,” you nodded, trying to speak of it in a detached way. “You did a really good job picking activities and this restaurant. This menu is so interesting! But at the same time, I feel like you are at an unfair advantage because you know me pretty well by now. I don’t think this is a reasonable expectation to have for a first blind date. I also probably wouldn’t agree to so many things in one day with them, because what if we didn’t hit it off? Also wouldn’t let them drive me because what if they’re a murderer?”
“You think I’d set you up with a murderer?”
“You never know,” you shook your finger at him playfully, “People are full of surprises, unfortunately.”
Minghao watched you as you watched the sunset. He agreed with you, this had been a really good date. For whatever reason, you had leaned into the physical affection at the botanical garden and it had made his brain go haywire. He found that he not only didn’t want this date to end, but he wanted a second and a third (maybe to infinity) with you. He wanted to watch you try really hard at things that you had never done before and wanted to watch you make your little cartoon frog face when you were delighted by something.
“What?” you asked, turning back to meet Minghao’s lingering gaze.
“Nothing. I’m just having a really great time with you today,” he smiled back.
Your smile faltered as your heart pounded. You searched his face for some hint that he was teasing you, like usual, but it wasn’t there.
“Minghao!” an excited voice pulled your attention away suddenly. You turned to see two men, one tall and muscular and the other slighter and shorter.
“Mingyu, Jae,” Minghao waved at them easily, “Coworkers,” he explained to you as they approached. “This is YN.”
“Oh, are you on a date?” the taller man’s eyes flitted between you and Minghao, slowly coming to a realization.
“Wait no. YN. No, they’re not dating!” the other man interjected as he connected his brain cells, “Jeonghan told me about this! You two have been setting each other up on dates, right? Or something like that?”
“That’s right,” you laughed, “So sorry, who’s Mingyu and who’s Jae?”
“Ah, sorry, yes,” Minghao chuckled, “Mingyu and Jae,” he gestured towards them respectively.
“Nice to meet you,” you smiled, unable to help the way your eyes raked over Mingyu. He was your exact physical type and his eyes sparkled obviously at you when he talked.
“Well, we’ll get out of your hair! We were on our way out,” Jae nodded at you after not too long.
“I hope to see you again sometime,” Mingyu smiled at you, leaning down for another handshake before they left. Minghao bristled.
“Him,” you turned to Minghao, oblivious to his irritation. “Set me up with him, he’s my exact type!”
“Mingyu?” Minghao’s nose wrinkled slightly. “You don’t even know him.”
“He’s so hot though,” you exhaled theatrically, not really caring what his personality was like when he had a body like that. “That’s what a blind date is for, right? Blind to the red flags that I don’t want to see.”
Minghao scoffed at your absurdity. On the one hand, Mingyu was a perfectly nice guy. Maybe too eager and bubbly for you, but he trusted that he could treat you well. On the other hand, he had just been grappling with the idea of wanting you for himself, so the two sides of his brains clashed violently and he really had no explanation for the next word that left his mouth.
“Beg.”
“Excuse me?” you must have misheard him.
“Beg me. And I’ll set you up with him,” he leaned back, smirk playing across his lips as he teased you mercilessly.
“P-please?” you stuttered, thighs pressing together inexplicably at the look on his face.
“Cuter,” he goaded you, tongue tracing across his lips as the flush rose in your cheeks. Your heart threatened to stop.
“Hao, please?” your eyes became doe-like and your lower lip pouted out just slightly. You didn’t even know why you were humoring him, you’d never let a man make you beg for anything before.
“There, see? That wasn’t so hard,” he sat back up, clearing his throat slightly as he glanced away. “I’ll set it up,” he nodded, heart sinking in his chest.
“Great,” you smiled, chest feeling tight. Your heart was racing.
You found yourself perplexed and kicking a small pebble down the sidewalk after your date with Mingyu. It wasn’t that it had gone poorly, no in fact just the opposite. You were surprised that he had even been available to be set up because he was, on paper, perfect. He was funny, sweet, eager and all in that body? It was simply unfair.
No, the thing that you were confused and frustrated about was that you didn’t really want to go on another date with him. For whatever reason, the only feeling you could muster for him was a lukewarm fondness and it really made you mad. Typically, you would call Minghao to debrief, but you were mad at him too! Your date with him last week was the reason the bar was so unreasonably high now, after all.
“Damn,” you sighed to yourself as you gave the poor pebble another swift kick.
Minghao glanced at his phone, irritated to see that you still hadn’t messaged him with any updates. Dinner had to be over by now, right? Normally you at least snuck away to text him from the bathroom, so for his phone to be this dry could only be a sign that the date had gone well. Probably too well.
[mingyu]: ‘dude! YN is wonderful! thank you for setting this up!’
[hao]: ‘ah, so it went well?’
[mingyu]: ‘i think so! she’s cool as hell man’
[mingyu]: ‘she makes such a cute face when she gets excited’
Minghao saw red for a moment. The intensity of his jealousy caught him by surprise and he had to reign himself in before he replied to Mingyu’s text.
[hao]: ‘yeah, i like her too, lol’
Minghao threw his phone onto the sofa. Stupid idiot.
[hao]: ‘are you ever going to admit defeat or are you going to just ignore me forever?’
You had been doom scrolling in bed when his text appeared and before you knew it, you were calling him.
“Hey,” his voice was soft when he picked up. The way his heart had jumped when he’d seen your incoming call was unreasonable.
“Hi,” you greeted him, your voice sounded small.
“So…,” Minghao waffled. He didn’t really want to talk about Mingyu, but he wasn’t really sure what else to talk to you about. “Mingyu said he liked you.”
“Oh, did he?” you chuckled, “He seems like the type of person that likes everyone.”
Hao laughed because you weren’t wrong.
“It went well, though, right?” He wished that, like all the other dates, this one had been a dud too.
“It was okay,” you shrugged, “I don’t see myself going on another date with him though, to be honest. He’s a little too…I don’t know?” you trailed off trying to explain.
“Oh?” Minghao’s voice piqued with interest, “Well I’m starting to run out of friends,” he joked.
“I don’t think I want you to set me up with any more of your friends,” you sighed. “No more first dates for a while, I think.”
Minghao froze as he saw his opening. He knew he would forever be kicking himself if he didn’t take the shot now.
“Are you home?”
“Yes?”
“Okay, I’m in the middle of errands, but I’ll be there in ten. I have to ask you something in person.”
“Oh okay.”
Minghao didn’t leave much more room for discussion as he hung up and turned the car around, driving towards your place. You checked your appearance nervously as you waited.
[hao]: ‘here’
Your pulse pounded in your ears as you opened the door for him, more nervous now than you had been for your date.
“Hi,” he greeted you from under a black baseball cap. It was annoying how he looked so good in it. “Can I come in?”
“No,” you joked as you opened the door for him.
“So no more first dates, does that mean you’re officially tapping out of our game?” he asked, looking down at you.
“N-,” your instinct was to push back, but he was right this time. “I mean, yes, I guess so. I’m tired of this meeting people business, I just want to spend time with people that I already like.”
“Would that include me?” he grinned, stepping towards you and until you backed into the kitchen counter.
“I-, I have mixed feelings about you,” you answered honestly, unable to meet his gaze.
“Can I take you out on a second date?” he ducked his head towards yours, hands coming to rest at your hips.
“I-,” you squeezed your eyelids together. In the past you would’ve panicked, but this closeness was now familiar to you and you only wanted to sink into it further. “Maybe you should beg this ti-,” you raised your brows, flicking your eyes mischievously to his.
“Ah!” Minghao cut you off sternly. “I’d think twice about that.”
“But-,” you couldn’t help yourself.
He cut you off with a firm grip at the base of your throat. His longer fingers tapped against the side of your neck as he regarded you sternly. “Will you behave?”
You knew you should say yes. Part of you might have even wanted to say yes, but you were you to your core. “Maybe.”
“We’ll just have to see, won’t we?” he teased you in a sing-songy voice. “Where’s your bedroom?”
“There,” you pointed to a door towards your right. Without so much as a warning, you found yourself being hauled and plunked onto the edge of your bed.
“You have been driving me crazy for months, so let’s see if I can return the favor,” he looked down at you, tongue poking in his cheek.
“Months?” you wondered, thighs squeezing together nervously.
“Yes, months,” Minghao reached out and patted you on the cheek condescendingly. “So picky and difficult about every single person that I set you up with. Were you doing it on purpose or did you really not notice?”
“Not on purpose! They just…,” you trailed off sheepishly.
“What’s that? Speak up.”
“They sucked cause you’re bad at picking,” you squinted at him defiantly. You hated that you loved the way he was treating you.
“Try again?” he grabbed you around the jaw, his fingertips pressing your lips into an unflattering fish face. You could see in his eyes that he wouldn’t humor you for much longer.
“They weren’t you,” came your muffled reply, your lips moving in an exaggerated manner between his long fingers.
“One more time?” Minghao’s eyes danced at you, fingers relinquishing their grip. He wanted to hear it again, clearly.
“They weren’t you!” you replied, sickeningly sweetly eyes creasing into sarcastic half moons as you smiled at him.
“Tch,” he scoffed, pushing you back onto the bed and climbing over you. “You are so difficult,” he shook his head as his eyes raked across you, admiring your shape. “You’re lucky I like you.”
You let out a simpering sigh as his lips nibbled from just behind your earlobe down to your collarbone. His teeth nipped roughly as his fingertips trailed from your knee to your hip and gripped tightly.
“Hao,” you sighed, “Kiss me?”
“Hmm, do you deserve that?” he rebutted, pulling back to look in your eyes.
“Please?” you pouted, tugging at the front of his shirt. “I’ll be good.”
“Somehow I don’t believe you,” he laughed, his lips grazing yours.
“Minghao, please,” you insisted and he indulged you.
Minghao brought his lips to yours, kissing you thoroughly. His hands kneaded possessively at your hip as you nipped at his lips. Your kisses were peppered with soft moans and exaltations.
“You make such desperate sounds,” he teased appreciatively. You flushed at his description, but he wasn’t wrong. “Lay back and let me appreciate you,” he pressed a kiss to your temple before helping you undress completely.
Starting at the bottom of the bed, he trailed soft, plush kisses from your ankles to your knees and then from your knees to your hips. He nipped, bit, and sucked his way up your inner thighs until you were glistening and slick for him. His fingers pried your legs apart, allowing him to taste you for the first time.
“Hao!” your thighs closed instinctively around his ears as he lapped long, leisurely strokes with his tongue. You heard him chuckle as he gripped above your knees, holding you open for him. He teased you with his hot breath, enjoying watching you shift and writhe, just for him.
“So gorgeous,” he rested his cheek against your thigh for a moment, enjoying the way your chest heaved with shallow breaths as you came down from the edge for the second time.
“Ming-hao!” you squealed as he brought his lips back around your clit, sucking with a torturous pressure. “I-, I-, I,” you malfunctioned, hand gripping his hair tightly as you came hard against his lips.
“Very good,” he grinned up at you, his lips and chin glossy with your slick. “Can I finger you now?”
“I mean, yes?” you laughed nervously, a little concerned at what his hands would be able to achieve after experiencing his mouth alone.
“Don’t cum until I say so,” he directed as his fingertips slid through your wet folds. “You are so wet,” he commented offhandedly as he pressed two fingers in a v-shape against you, squeezing around your swollen clit. Your mouth formed a silent ‘o’ shape as he ground his fingers against you, avoiding direct contact where you wanted it most.
“Hao,” you cried, hand resting around his wrist as you squirmed helplessly under him. “Why are you torturing me?!”
Minghao paused for a moment. He supposed he was going a bit more out of his way to undo you than was typical for him. It wasn’t fair, but his pent up jealousy was manifesting and you were there to pay the price.
“Are you telling me you don’t like it?” he asked, cocking his head at you.
“Well, no,” you blushed, sinking into the pillow shyly.
“Then let me torture you a bit, sweetheart,” he grinned sweetly at you, fingers pinching together firmly around your clit again. “You’re so incredibly wet, just for me?” he marveled rhetorically as he slid two fingers into you, parting your wet, warm walls.
“Yes,” you nodded, pressing your hips up to meet him. You rolled your hips, desperate for as much as he would give. “More,” you begged until he added a third finger, stretching you slightly.
“Look at you,” Hao cooed appreciatively, nipping at your upper thigh as he stroked his fingers in and out of your deeply. The scrape of his teeth oversensitized you suddenly and you became a whimpering, desperate mess quickly.
“Hao, please, darling,” you clutched at him urgently, “I need, please let me cum!”
“Cum for me, darling,” he cooed the pet name back at you as he kept up the pace until you had collapsed into a pile of mush for him. “So good,” he praised you, pressing soft kisses along your jaw as you recomposed yourself.
“Blurple?” you asked, now that you had the presence of mind to register his hair color. “This is pretty,” you grinned, running your fingers through the colorful strands.
“You’re pretty,” he nuzzled you gently, fingertips trailing across the underside of your breasts.
“Oh,” you flushed.
“You are.”
“You are…wearing too many clothes,” you observed impishly, fingers tugging at his waistband. He laughed as he helped you shrug off his layers.
“How would you like me?”
Minghao visibly thought as he slipped on a condom. “You would look absolutely gorgeous on top of me, riding me,” he smiled.
You flushed, grinning at his flowery praise as you straddled his hips, grinding yourself along his length. Your hands splayed across his chest and you took a moment to admire his lithe physique. “So handsome,” you whispered before lowering yourself onto him slowly.
“Fuck,” he hissed as you took him in completely. The tendons in his neck were taut as you drew back up and back down.
“You feel good, Hao,” you breathed, holding onto him for support as your hips found a comfortable rhythm. Each stroke, each intrusion made you shudder with pleasure and the wet sounds were joined by your soft moans and Minghao’s tense hisses.
“You feel incredible, petal,” he grabbed you tightly around the ribcage, bringing you down on him with slightly more force. You faltered at the additional impact.
“I’m so close,” you leaned forward, looking directly into Minghao’s eyes. Nodding, he gripped your hips, grinding your clit against his pubic crest as he bucked up, deeply, into you.
“Come with me, YN,” he coaxed breathlessly. The way he purred your name undid you. An anguished wail left your lips as you clenched around him, triggering his release as well.
“So did I earn a second date?” Minghao teased as he folded you into his chest, cuddling you closely.
“I think you might have,” you grinned up at him, pressing a soft kiss to his nose.
“Danbi is going to be happy when she finds out about this,” Minghao chuckled into your hair.
“Oh we’re never going to hear the end of it,” you moaned. “Maybe let’s no-”
“Ah,” he reached to press your jaw shut and you stilled. You delighted at this subtle, domineering action. Quite a match indeed.

hot chocolate kisses
in which wonwoo is your “boyfriend” for all your coworkers at the holiday party
warnings: kissing, pining, it’s a little cheesy oops
fluff, 1085 words, wonwoo x reader
a/n: surprise hi @bfwonu i’m your secret santa! it’s been super nice getting to know you these few weeks and i hope you’ve had/are wrapping up a wonderful holiday season ❤️
Tumblr media
“So, you’re dating Wonwoo?” Seungkwan asks.
You nod, recollecting the story Wonwoo had rehearsed with you last week. “For a few months. He asked me out one night while we were closing up.”
Your friend hums in thought, taking a sip of his gingerbread latte. “About time! I’m telling you, we were about to start placing bets on when you’d start going out!”
“Huh!?” you exclaim, warmth suddenly flooding your face and definitely not from the hot chocolate you’ve been nursing. “You were gonna what!?”
“Yeah, we were getting real sick and tired of the lovey-dovey looks you’d give each other when you weren’t looking and all the moping! If you’d heard his sighs and seen him when Seokmin came in…” Seungkwan shakes his head.
“Whaddya mean?” you ask, but you don’t think you can meet his gaze. The foam heart Wonwoo made on the top of your drink is suddenly the most interesting thing in this party.
“Oh, all he could do was sigh about how you’d be better together. He was convinced Seokmin was gonna ask you out! And then he’d stare longingly at you at the counter like a sad lead in a movie!”
Biting your lip, you dare to lift your eyes from the cup in your hands to your “boyfriend.” He chats animatedly with your coworker Minghao, a small smile lingering on his face. You can imagine their conversation, maybe something about philosophy, given their similar majors, yet it’s hard to believe that this same man, the shy, sweet, blushy coworker would have the same feelings for you that you have for him.
You’d murmured under your breath, asking him if he’d pretend to be your boyfriend for the annual holiday party, where you’d all feast on the extra seasonal desserts that were leftover from the day now that the month was coming to a close. And you definitely didn’t want to hear about your lack of a partner from all your other coworkers. Soonyoung would always say he never understood, that you were such a catch and someone would love to date you if you would just accept. But you can’t bear to lead someone on when you know well that your heart is Wonwoo’s.
“He…he did?” you manage to squeak out, immediately drowning your throat in chocolate after.
“Yeah, Soonyoung was gonna start intervening or something.” Seungkwan rolls his eyes playfully, shaking his head. “Good timing. We do not need more chaos. I think Jeonghan would lose his mind if he made some kinda commotion in front of the customers.”
“He was…he was seriously jealous of Seokmin?” you ask. “I thought everyone knew I was just tutoring him!”
Seungkwan sighs, rubbing the crease between his brows. You guys are dating, right? How can you two be this oblivious? Doing his best to hold in a wince, he straightens up and takes another sip of coffee.
“No, but thank god he came in. We couldn’t stand any more pining! We honestly thought you guys were gonna start dating a lot sooner.”
Yet, despite all of Seungkwan’s reassurances that your “boyfriend” loves you, is so head over heels for you, your heart sinks, the hot chocolate in your stomach swirling into a dark storm. This, all of this, isn’t real. Glancing at Wonwoo once more, you bite your lip.
Part of you wonders if Seungkwan is just saying things, telling you how much Wonwoo has pined after you to pretend it’s always been this way, to make sense of how nonsensical it would be for you to date him. But, as if he can sense your gaze, Wonwoo turns his head, his warm smile and wave in your direction causing a lump in your throat to form.
He makes his way over in slow motion, and you can do nothing as he casually slips an arm behind your back and murmurs an apology to Seungkwan for taking you as he ushers you to a quiet corner. “Everything okay?” he asks.
“Y-yeah,” you exhale, a shaky breath meeting his skin. “Just nervous. What if they know?”
He chuckles, eyes darting around to find not a soul watching the two of you before he takes your hand and brings your knuckles to meet his lips. “They won’t. Trust me.”
“I do, but—”
He raises his brows. “I didn’t get an A in Shakespearean Plays for nothing,” he quips.
With a heavy breath, you lift your gaze from the floor to his face. “Then…c-can I ask you something?”
You swear you see the faintest dusting of pink rising to his cheeks as he nods. “Okay…”
“You…you like me…” The words fall more as a statement than you intended, and you instantly step back. “I-I mean—”
“I do,” he murmurs, barely above a whisper that you wouldn’t have heard over the chatter if not for the fact that you’re just always so aware of him, his presence, his actions. His hands ghost over your arms, unsure of where you’re going with this, but his heart just pangs. You’re so close, right in front of him as he acts as your “boyfriend” in front of all your friends and coworkers. Can’t he just hold you and pretend a little more?
“How long?”
He sighs, his heart falling into the pit in his stomach. “A while…maybe since last summer.” He steps back. “I’m sorry if this all made you uncomfortable. I shouldn’t have agreed to—”
“Wonwoo?”
Your voice draws his attention back to your face.
“Did you know we’ve been under the mistletoe this whole time?”
He follows your gaze up to the top of the doorframe, the little green twig sitting innocently above you and causing a festive red to color his cheeks. “I’m so—”
But before he can finish his thoughts, you lean forward, pressing a quick peck to his lips. “Could you give me one more present this year?” you whisper, your breath floating easily towards him.
“Okay…”
“Would you go out with me? Go out on a real date with me?”
This time, he smiles, meeting you with a warm kiss, one way less fleeting than yours. It’s something he’d like to remember, to savor.
As you reach a hand up to cup his cheek, your fingers almost recoil at the touch of his skin, something toastier than even a winter fireplace. With a small grin, you pull away, Wonwoo’s lips trailing after you for just a moment before he settles for wrapping you in a hug.
Well, the answer is simple.

Could we get a reaction where the members make the reader cry?
seungcheol would freeze the moment he sees the tears in your eyes. he’s not used to seeing you like this, and it hits him harder than any argument ever could. “fuck, i’m sorry, i didn’t mean—” he’d start, reaching out but stopping himself, his voice would drop, softer, “please, just... i’m an idiot, okay? i’ll fix it, i swear.” unsure if he should touch you yet. “hey, i’m sorry… i didn’t mean to… please, don’t cry.” he’s not good with his words when he’s panicking, but he’ll do anything to fix this, to make you smile again.
jeonghan prides himself on being the calm in the storm but when you start to cry... “are you seriously crying right now?” he’d say, but his voice would crack just a bit, backstabbing his own emotions. when he realizes that he’s the reason for your tears, the smirk would drop from his face, and he’d feel a pang of guilt deep in his chest. “shit, i didn’t want to make you cry,” he’d mutter, suddenly feeling helpless.
joshua’s heart would break at the sight of your tears. he’s always been the one to comfort you, not the one to cause your pain. “hey, hey, don’t cry,” he’d say softly, his hand reaching out to gently wipe your tears away. the guilt would eat at him as he realizes just how much he’s hurt you.
junhui would panic a little when he sees you crying. seeing you like this would make him feel lost. “wait, don’t cry, please,” he’d say, his voice almost pleading. he’d step closer, unsure of how to comfort you but desperate to try.
soonyoung would be devastated, immediately regretting whatever he said or did to make you cry. “shit, no, don’t cry,” he’d blurt out, his own eyes starting to water just at the sight of you. he’d pull you into his arms without a second thought, holding you close. “no, no, no… please don’t cry, i’m so sorry.” he’ the type of dude who doesn’t knows how to react when people are crying. especially if he’s the cause.
wonwoo would be stunned, when he sees your tears. he’s not good with words, but he’d try his best. “i’m so sorry… i didn’t mean to hurt you, you know that...” he’d say quietly. he’d reach out, hesitating for a moment before gently touching your shoulder. “i’m sorry. let’s talk, okay? i want to make this right.” he’ll do his best to express how much he cares, how much he didn’t want this to happen. he’ll sit with you, offering his hand, hoping you’ll take it. if you do, he’ll hold on tight, silently vowing to never let this happen again.
woozi would be hit with a wave of guilt that he couldn’t quite hide, even with his regular stoic expression. “you’re crying? jagi please let me—” “you’re so mean jihoon!” he’d feel a tightness in his chest, hating himself for being the cause of your pain. “i’m sorry… i shouldn’t have said that. i don’t want to see you like this.” he might not know what to say at first, standing there, feeling like the worst person in the world. he’ll gently take your hand, rubbing small circles on the back of it, his way of comforting you. he’ll sit with you in silence if that’s what you need.
minghao hates the idea of making you cry. he really likes balance and harmony, so seeing your tears feels like a personal failure. minghao will gently guide you to sit down, offering you a tissue and giving you the space to express how you’re feeling. he’s good at listening, at understanding what’s beneath the surface, and he’ll do everything he can to reassure you, to make sure you know that he cares deeply. his touch is gentle, comforting, as he promises to do better.
mingyu + seeing you cry because of him would completely wreck him. he’d instantly feel like the worst boyfriend in the world, his heart breaking at the sight of your tears. “oh no… don’t cry because of me, I don’t deserve it...” mingyu would pull you into a tight hug, burying his face in your shoulder, whispering apologies and trying to comfort you as best as he can. he’d probably end up crying a little himself, unable to stand the thought of hurting you. he’ll do anything to make things right, to bring back your smile.
seokmin is always careful with his words, so when he sees you crying because of something he said, it feels like a knife to the chest, hands reaching out to cup your face, gently wiping away the tears. he’s the type to immediately feel guilty, replaying every word he said in his head, wondering where he went wrong. he’s desperate to make it right, holding you close and whispering apologies until you both calm down.
seungkwan will do anything—make silly faces, tell stupid jokes, even sing your favorite song—just to see you smile again, when that doesn’t work, he’ll just sit beside you, his heart breaking a little more every time he hears you sniffle. deep down, he’s scared, scared that he’s hurt you too much this time.
vernon feels like the ground’s been pulled out from under him. “shit, i—i’m sorry.” he’ll try his best, awkwardly pulling you into a hug, he’ll stay quiet, holding you until your breathing evens out.
chan seeing you cry because of him would completely break his heart. “shit, babe, i didn’t mean it like that.” his eyes loaded with worry as he reaches out to you. chan would pull you into a tight hug, holding you close as if he could shield you from any more pain, his heart breaking a little more every time he sees another tear fall.

SVT mtl : able to undo your bra with one hand.
Tumblr media
content; boobs. smut/smut adjacent. MINORS DNI. crack. wc; 1.2k (apparently i have a lot to say on this topic lmao) warnings; boobs, i swore a few times, a funky mix of dom + sub members. let me know if there's anything you actually want me to tag this as though because i quite clearly don't know what i'm doing. /gen note; don't actually take this seriously, i just think i'm a Little Bit funny.
ALWAYS ——
seungcheol — sometimes you don’t even realise he’s doing it until you feel your bra go slack. manages first time, every time, without fail. walks past you at home and pings your bra open without warning just because he thinks it’s funny (and because you usually chase after him and pin him to the nearest soft furnishing, which always goes exactly the way he wants it to go).
jihoon — has literally magic fingers — and not just on a keyboard. smirks against your collarbone as he snaps them against the clasp and feels your tits soften against his chest. sometimes doesn’t even do it in a sexy way. it’s a love language, to him: if you’ve had a shitty day at work, it’s the first thing he’ll do for you. he hugs you tight and tells you how well you did, how proud he is of you as he masterfully flicks your bra undone, encouraging you to go run a hot bath. he’ll come join you once he’s finished folding the laundry.
jun — confidence is the key to anything in the bedroom and jun has it coming off him in waves. is it always on purpose? no it’s not. but for some reason, this guy has never had a problem with bras. then again, he could charm the birds out of the trees, so it’s kinda fitting that he can do this without struggle. it’s all in the thumb, he insists as he strips you out of the lingerie you picked out special for him. it’s not that he doesn’t appreciate how you dress yourself up for his eyes only, it’s just… boobs, you know?
minghao — a patient king. is never in a rush to get you naked and prefers to take his time undressing you, admiring you. he is always very slow, almost romantic with how he feels out your clasp beneath your tshirt and moves the two pieces apart. it’s absolutely still a one handed job, it just takes him a tiny bit longer, but those long, elegant fingers are precise and accurate 95% of the time.
jeonghan — a solid 80% success rate but is occasionally caught out by particularly stiff or bikini style clasps. never needs more than three tries though, and is frankly too stubborn to use a second hand. look, if it takes him a couple moments of struggling before it eventually snaps open? he still did it, and he’s not taking questions. it counts. stop giggling — it fucking COUNTS.
joshua — can, and does, but not always. if he’s in one of his moods, he’ll ask you to take it off yourself as he kneels between your thighs and rubs himself hard. if he’s feeling sweet, he takes his time to slide the straps down your arms and kiss over your shoulders before he even thinks about unfastening it. whichever way it goes, these moments with joshua are incredibly sensual, but there’s something about the loving way the way he hugs you close as he works it open with both hands that never has you wishing he’d get it done faster.
seungkwan — surprised both himself and you the first time the pair of you got steamy by pinging it open like a professional. you’re pretty sure it was an accident (& he knows it was one). you then walked in on him a few weeks later practicing with one of your bras on a giant teddy bear he won you on your first date to the fair. he argues that if the idea is stupid but it works… is it really that stupid in the first place? 65% of the time, he manages with one hand and never, ever fails with two. he also lavishes your tits with kisses the second he manages to work it off. a real sweetheart.
wonwoo — depends on the season, the day, the weather, and the alignment of the stars at the time of trying. somehow always manages to whip this skill out on special occasions but your average tuesday night screw either has your bra off before you can blink, or has you reaching behind to do it yourself as he murmurs all the filthy things he’s going to do to you against your ear. if you’re taking charge of him, though? sitting on top of his thighs, tickling your fingers over those washboard abs? he dissolves. can’t do that shit for love nor money. there’s something so deeply endearing about a man so broad just fumbling behind your back that you don’t even offer to help, either: you let him struggle, and struggle, he does.
soonyoung — too excitable to manage it with one hand but he loves to try anyway. the first time he managed it, he jumped up on the bed yelling about his success and it completely choked the mood. the thing with hoshi is that his arousal seems to strike at the most inopportune moments (on your way out the door for dinner, just before you have people coming over, right as you’re about to leave for work): at least half the time, you’re both undressing yourselves the minute the idea strikes and by default, he doesn’t have to worry about this too much.
chan — has managed this on a couple of occasions but he’s usually in such a hurry to strip you naked that he goes in with both hands from the start. likes to work you up from behind anyway, which helps him avoid trying to do it blindly. it’s kind of easy to undo a bra when he has you bent over the the kitchen counter. or the dresser, or a cabinet, or when he’s just pressing you against a wall with all his weight. hey, work smarter, not harder. (he’s already hard enough.)
mingyu — buys you so much lingerie and frankly, loves to fuck you while you’re still wearing it. sometimes pulls your tits out to suck on them but will usually leave your bra fastened, especially if it’s just going to be a quickie. if he does take it off, it’s a two hand job and sometimes still a struggle because his clumsy fingers can’t always coordinate the push-release thing. the more huffy he gets, the worse he struggles and the louder he whines. it’s cute, though.
seokmin — he’s just. too. needy. the second he sees a pair of tits, his brain runs a CTRL, ALT + DELETE, force shutdown. starts drooling at the way your bra hugs them, running his fingers over the lace, sometimes even forgets that taking it off is an option because it looks so fucking good on. by the time he wants to remove it, he’s so in his own head about getting them in his mouth that his hands are no longer working. has asked you to turn around no fewer than five times just so he can get the damn thing OFF and get down to business.
hansol — thought he was supposed to pull it over your head like a t-shirt the first time he tried. has been betrayed by front clasps and sports bras more times than he can count. it’s not a case of nerves, it’s a case of desperate frustration and impatient mutters of “man, fuck this” as he looks at you with eyes that say ‘please help’. don't get it twisted, hansol loves looking at pretty ones on you, for sure. he just adores you without one, too. maybe more. if bras have a hundred haters, he is one of them. ten? still him. zero? he is no longer with us. free the nipple is his motto and it’s only like, 40% for selfish reasons.
ALMOST NEVER ——

You are late. Again. What really strikes you the most, when you run down the usual busy streets to get to university, is how much life can change in so many ways with only one encounter. A rushed morning routine, sleepless nights, a constant smile, and a heart full of love. This all happened because of one person, Lee Seokmin. Your own special love story.
As you walk on the 13th street during a chilly Wednesday afternoon, you find yourself in front of Heaven’s Cloud café once again. I guess I really am obsessed with their strawberry filled cupcakes, you mumble to yourself as you push the door open. This comes to no surprise to you as Wednesday afternoon comes with your weekly stops at this café.
When you enter you are immediately hit with the different scents of all the pastries. This is such a nice place with its mint and pink aesthetic, the couches all around the place and their bookshelves filled to the brim. You walk over to the counter where Jeonghan, one of the workers, and a recent friend of yours, is greeting you with his usual angelic smile.
“Hey you! How are you doing today, y/n?” he says while arranging some pastries behind the counter, “I’ll be there in a sec.”
“Yeah, sure! Take your time. I’m fine, what about you? Was today busy?” you ask him as you wave over at Joshua who just came in for his shift.
“Are you worried for my business? You are starting to sound more like my business partner than Seungcheol or even Joshua.” he jokes around as he walks behind the cashier, “What will you have today, my dear y/n?”
“I told you to stop calling me sweet names! I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea.” you say as you reach over the counter to lightly hit him on the arm. Unfortunately, you miss him. One day, you will get him, you think to yourself. It’s what he deserves for putting you through so much misery.
“Don’t worry, y/n.” answers Joshua as he ties his apron around his waist, “It’s not like there is anyone who wants to keep you to themselves, is there?” Jeonghan laughs out loud as Joshua finishes his sentence. You will get them both, one day. These evil twins deserve it. Sometimes you wonder why you are even friends with them. They’re lucky they fuel your body with their delicious pastries and their sweet drinks.
“I was here to get my precious pastry, not get attacked, Hong Joshua.” you snicker around.
“And I am here, waiting for your order. Even though I probably know it by now.” Jeonghan throws back at you.
You continue joking around with Jeonghan as you hear the door’s jingle behind you and Joshua says their usual “Welcome to Heaven’s Cloud!”. He stands behind the second cashier and start taking the order of a brown-haired – and cute – boy who is probably around your age. You don’t notice him that much as you start telling your order to Jeonghan, “I’ll take a latte and one of those strawberry filled cupcakes, to go please.”
“-and one of those strawberry filled cupcakes.” You hear the brown-haired – and very cute – boy. You don’t pay him much attention as Jeonghan lets you know that your order will be out soon.
You wait for your order for a few minutes while looking at some new books that Wonwoo brought over at the café. You know he brings over even more books ever since you two have been friends. You’re lucky to have him too. You will have to thank him properly one day. You hear your name being called and go back to the counter, exactly at the same time as a certain Seokmin gets called out – probably the cute boy as he is the only other customer in the café.
“Here’s your latte.” Jeonghan says as he hands you your drink, “Unfortunately, Seokmin, ordered the last strawberry cupcake,” he says as he glances at the cute boy whose name is now confirmed, “do you want anything else?”
“That’s not very nice, Seokmin! You deprived y/n of their pastry!” teases Joshua as Seokmin looks at you with an apologetic look on his face.
“It’s okay, don’t listen to him!” you reassure him, “Do you have any cookies? I would like-” you start to ask Jeonghan.
“Do you want to share the cupcake with me?” you hear Seokmin suggests.
“Me?” you ask as you turn to him, pointing to yourself.
“I don’t think there is anyone else he could ask that to, y/n.” Jeonghan whispers, loud enough for everyone to hear.
“Oh, shut up Yoon Jeonghan!” you voice out as you give him a look and he holds his hands up in sign of retreat, “Are you okay with that?” you turn back your attention on Seokmin, “Because that would be greatly appreciated. Today was a long day and I really like those cupcakes.”
“Yes, It’s okay! It’s on me, don’t worry.” he answers as Jeonghan already hands you your change back, “Let’s go, let’s seat down.” he says as he starts going over to the couch.
“Thanks!” you say cheerly to Jeonghan as you head towards the seat Seokmin picked.
After a few minutes of observing you, Jeonghan and Joshua exchange a knowing look before Jeonghan whispers a “maybe there is someone who wants them to themselves now.” Which goes unnoticed by you or Seokmin, too engrossed in getting to know one another.
You wake up, the next morning, with a smile on your face. How could you not after meeting such a sweet soul as Seokmin? He was nice, funny, a gentleman. He reassured you countless time about you not being a bother. He handed you napkins when you spilled a little of your latte on the table and let you rant about the books you recently read. You had such a nice time with him that you didn’t even realize you were late for your weekly Wednesday’s movie night with your roommates. When you checked the time, you were already late, and you knew you were stuck with a week of doing dishes as a penalty. You quickly said your goodbye to Seokmin as you grabbed your stuffs hurriedly while he looked at you with a fond expression – unseen by either of you but noticeable to anyone else.
What you two only realized too late is that you did not exchanged numbers. All you could do was to believe your paths will come to meet again.
As you lay around in your bed, daydreaming about his sweet smile and everything you two talked about, you don’t realize how fast time passes by. It’s when you roll over on your stomach, a natural smile on your lips, and grab your phone that you realize that 30 minutes have already passed, and your smile immediately drops.
“Shit, I’m late!” you say out loud to yourself as you jump out of bed. You grab clothes in haste, rush into the bathroom and twenty minutes later you are outside, running in hopes to get to class in time. Lee Seokmin, this is all your fault, you think to yourself. Day one into my life and you already make a mess of it.
A few days later, you stride along the street to get to Heaven’s Cloud café. You convinced yourself to come get a cupcake since you had busy days but deep down you know it’s not your only reason. You just hope the real reason will be here.
You also hope that Jeonghan is not, despite all the love you have for him, because you know for a fact he’ll understand why you’re coming. You don’t want him to meddle into this. Even though this is nothing. Absolutely nothing.
The usual jingle of the door welcomes you as you walk into the very familiar place. Seungcheol, who’s behind the counter, greets you and waves at you. You like Seungcheol. He runs the place along with Jeonghan and Joshua, but he deals much more with everything that needs to be dealt with for the place to run smoothly; from scheduling all the way to accounting. Which is why you are surprised – but not disappointed – to see him working behind the counter today. You quickly scan the place and realize that he is not here. You walk over to the counter and greet Seungcheol.
“Why are you behind the counter? Did the evil twins let you down?” you ask jokingly.
“No,” he says with a smile, “they have the day off. Went out of town to see family. Today’s a calm day so it’s only me!”
“Well, at least when they’re not here we don’t have to be scared about being attacked by their antics.” You two joke about.
You really like Seungcheol. He’s much more composed and calmer than his same-age friends. He tends to give you more advices about anything while Jeonghan and Joshua are the ones who will make you laugh.
“Yeah, you’re right,” he laughs softly, “so what brings you here?”
“Your strawberry filled cupcakes brings me here! I will have one, for here, please, with a cinnamon latte.” you say as you start looking for your wallet.
“Thanks,” Seungcheol tells you as you hand him the money, “go sit down, I’ll bring it to you.”
You make your way to your favorite spot after thanking him and you look at the shelf where Wonwoo puts the books he brings over. Just as you were about to pick your new read, the door jingles and you see him. The reason. His eyes immediately lock with yours and he smiles brightly.
“Y/n!” he says loudly as he walks over to you, “How are you?”
“I’m good! What about you?” you beam at him.
“I’m very good actually.” he starts, “I’ve been searching for you.”
He what? “You were searching for me?” you ask, surprised.
“Yeah, I came here yesterday to see you some more but Jeonghan told me you only really come on Wednesdays.”
“Oh, yeah,” you start, a blush creeping on your face, “I was busy yesterday but I wanted to stop by once more this week. So here I am now.”
“Well, I’m glad we stopped at the same time,” he says, a soft smile making its way on his face, “Is it okay if I join you?”
I have been waiting for that, you almost say. “Yeah, sure! Go order and come hang out with me.”
He comes back with both orders – his and yours – “I told Seungcheol I could bring over your order.” he says as he puts the tray in front of you.
“Thank you, that’s sweet. So, how was your week?”
“Oh, it was fine. Just went to study for a test with a friend on Thursday and I absolutely killed that test! So, I’m here to treat myself for a good job.” he says with a laugh, “What about yours? Were your roommates mad you missed movie night on Wednesday?”
“You definitely deserve that treat right now.” you tell him with a smile, “They were not that mad, really. I mean I do have a penalty but that’s the rules! I wouldn’t have changed anything else though.” As soon as you say it, you regret it. You don’t want to sound like you are flirting because you are not.
“Me neither, don’t worry.” He tells you, his smile hidden behind his cup of coffee.
“By the way, do you know it’s bad to drink so much coffee at almost, what, 6pm?” you snicker as he puts his cup down.
“Well actually I have a study session planned at 6pm until-” he says as he looks at his watch, “Oh fuck, I’m late!”
He jumps out of his seat and grabs his things; “I’m so sorry, y/n, I have to go!” he says hurriedly, “God, why do we keep making each other late?” he mumbles under his breath, “Bye! I will see you around!”
You watch him run out by the door and down the street, smiling sweetly as you follow him with your eyes until he disappears at the corner of a street. It’s only 5 minutes later that you realize you once again forgot to give him your number. But weirdly enough, you have the feeling you’ll see him again soon enough.
1 hour passes by as you work on one of your assignments until you decide to go back to your apartment. You grab your bag, sling it on your shoulder and bring back the trays of dirty – but empty – dishes to Seungcheol.
“Oh, thank you.” he tells you with a bright smile when he notices the trays.
“Yeah, Seokmin forgot to bring his tray too so there you go.” you tell him.
“I didn’t know you knew Seokmin.” he says you as a way to start conversation as he organizes some utensils. Since the café is empty you two can talk freely.
“You know him? Like is he a friend?” you start interrogating him. Maybe you are a tiny bit curious.
“Well, I mean, he is a good friend of Jeonghan so yeah. Jeonghan likes him a lot. He says he’s kind, and he can easily play pranks on him and well, you know how Jeonghan can get.” he explains while he wipes his hands clean.
“Oh yeah, I know how he can get sometimes.” you chuckle, “But he’s right. Seokmin is a very kind person.” you tell him without realizing the smile making its way on your face.
“He really is,” he says as he walks up to you, “he has a really good heart.” he adds on, looking at you a certain way. Oh no.
“Oh god, no, it’s not like that.” you immediately warn him.
“Never said it was.” he says with a slight smile, “But if it was, it wouldn’t be such a bad thing, y/n. He’s a really good person. I know we aren’t that close, or you aren’t the kind to confide, even to Jeonghan or Joshua, but what I know is that you deserve someone good. Someone like Seokmin.”
“I don’t know, Seungcheol…” you tell him, surprised by his words. You didn’t know Seungcheol thought so high of you.
“All I’m saying is that if it was, if it ends up becoming something like that, it wouldn’t be so terrible.” he reassures you, “And don’t worry, I’m not Yoon Jeonghan. I will act as if this conversation never happened.” he says as he mimics locking his mouth with a key and throwing it over his shoulder.
On your way back home, you think that Seungcheol forgetting about the conversation doesn’t help the fact that, try as you might, you can’t seem to be able to get over what he told you. Despite being tired, you can’t seem to find sleep and you turn in your bed trying to make your mind forget about the conversation. It’s only at dawn that your body finally finds sleep. It may have to do with your realization that maybe Seokmin could be a good person for you. The good person.
It’s only a few days later when you find yourself striding along the familiar street where Heaven’s Cloud stands. You come into the café before your class, in hopes to see the boy who searched for you once – now is your time to search for him. You walk to the counter as Jeonghan greets you.
“What are you doing here, again? Are you in love with someone here or what?” Jeonghan sneers.
“I’m just here to see my favorite café employee! Did you miss me?” you tell him teasingly as you look at the new pastries.
“Yeah, I guess… But it’s unusual for you to come around so much…” he says with a pensive look, “I will figure out what makes you come back because we both know it isn’t me.”
“There’s nothing to figure out–” you start bickering back just as the door opens and you hear someone talk. Oh. You know this voice. Without even realizing, a smile and a slight blush make its way on your face. You turn around just for your eyes to lock with Seokmin’s who’s currently talking to a tall, very well-dressed boy. He gives you a little sign as to say that he’ll come talk later.
You don’t notice Jeonghan looking back and forth between you two but he catches your attention; “Oh, I figured it out.” he says with a slight laugh.
“No, you didn’t.” you say way too quickly for it to be casual.
“I definitely did! Oh my, y/n likes someone!” he starts to tease.
“Stop it! You didn’t figure out anything!”
‘What didn’t he figure out?” Seokmin interrupts, “Because, not to take side, but I feel like when Jeonghan figures something out he’s kinda always right.”
“It’s nothing, Seokmin really,” you say trying to act composed while you give a look to Jeonghan. “How are you today? I haven’t seen you in a few days!”
“I’m good, what about you? I’m glad to run into you, I’ve started missing you.” He says with a big smile.
“I’m glad too!” you tell him as you feel your cheeks burn.
After ordering and getting your orders – and some more looks from Jeonghan – you two are sitting down at your usual spot. “So, did you make it in time last time?” you ask Seokmin after setting down your cupcake.
“Absolutely not! I was lucky Minghao – my friend – waited for me. And I told him you were the one keeping me hostage so he forgave me.” he adds with a smile on his face.
“I did not keep you hostage!” you laugh around with him.
“That’s true, I was with you willingly.” he tells you with a slight blush on his face, “You’re like my favorite café partner now.” he says as he brings the cup to his lips.
“I like the sound of that.” you tell him softly, “Do you have classes today?”
He blushes profoundly, “In the afternoon. What about you?”
“Yeah, I do, I have a class in- shit, in 15 minutes.” you say with a laugh, not even surprised anymore that you are late after meeting up with Seokmin “Well, I will be late.” you say before finishing your latte.
“Well go!” Seokmin says hurriedly while watching you gather your things with not the pressure that late people feel.
“Wait,” you say as your grab his hand in one hand and a pen, you just pulled out of your bag, in the other. “I’ve been meaning to do that.” you say as you start scribbling something on his hand, “There you go! I’m going now. Bye Seokmin!” you tell him before turning around and heading towards the door. Before going out, you turn around one more time towards him; “Oh, and Seokmin? Please use that.” you say nodding towards his scribbled hand before finally going out the door and running down the street to get to your class.
For a few minutes Seokmin is stunned because you, the girl of his dream, just gave him your number. The scribbling your favorite café partner followed by a series of numbers on his hand is the proof of his surprise. And at that precise moment, Seokmin feels his heart burst with love.
It’s been a week since you gave your number to Seokmin and today is the only day you two don’t have something planned together. He told you he was busy with studying for the upcoming finals – which you should be too. As you walk the street to get to university, you think about how you two talked and saw each other so much you didn’t have time to miss one another. All your conversations start in the morning and ends late at night, sometimes face to face, other times over phone or text. You don’t think you ever felt as safe and happy with anyone else. He’s the only one who can bring out certain sides of yourself and the only person in the world who will ever make you forget time. It’s like any time you get with him, your world stops and it’s only you two, talking and getting to know each other in a way no one ever got to know you. You’ve opened more to him than to anyone else. And you think this must mean something.
As you get closer to university, you notice, just down the street, that you once again found yourself going to Heaven’s Cloud café. As you check the time on your watch, you decide to make a quick stop to take your latte and your favorite cupcake in this world.
The jingle of the door welcomes you as you step into what could be called your second home. Just as you start walking towards the counter where Jeonghan stands, greeting you with his usual smile, you hear the door chime behind you again and out of curiosity you turn around and your eyes meets two brown eyes you know very well by now. “Seokmin!” you yell out as you realize who is standing before you, “What are you doing here?” you ask him.
“Oh, uhm my study session got cancelled? Last minute emergency from Minghao.” he tells you, “I kind of wanted to ask you to hang out since I was free but I didn’t want to assume you were free for well, me.”
“I’ll always be free for you, Seokmin.” you tell him with a smile, “So do you want to hang out here?” you say as you start walking with him towards Jeonghan.
You don’t even see how Seokmin blushes greatly at your words or how he stutters when he lets you know he would really like to hang out with you right now.
“Hi you two!” says Jeonghan cheerly from behind the counter, “Did you two came in together?”
“We just ran into each other when getting in the café.” Seokmin explains him, “What do you want? It’s on me!” Seokmin tells you.
“You sure?” you ask as he nods to give you confirmation, “Okay Jeonghan, I’ll get a latte, per usual, and a cupcake filled strawberry.”
“Per usual,” Jeonghan answers sassily, “What about you, Seokmin?”
“I’ll just get an americano and a strawberry filled cupcake too.”
“Do you want to share one again?” Jeonghan teases as you and Seokmin glare at him, “I’m kidding! I’ll bring your order, just go seat down.”
You and Seokmin make your way towards your usual spot by the window as your arm brush against his. Oh, how much you want to hold his hand right now. You seat down first as Seokmin takes the seat in front of you and you two starts catching up. As you hear him talk about anything, you realize how much you missed him. But more than anything, you realize how much you like him. Not the same way you like your classes, or your friends and not even that strawberry filled cupcake comes close. You don’t like him. You love him. You’re in love with him. You’re in love with him and you’d give him all the strawberry filled cupcakes and some more if it’s what he wanted.
Your realization is cut short as Jeonghan settles the tray with two drinks and only one cupcake. “Okay so, I guess we’re short on cupcakes again…” Jeonghan explains with a chuckle, “Do you want anything else?”
“I think we’re good with only one?” Seokmin asks you as you nod to agree, “Yeah, it’s okay Jeonghan, don’t worry about it.” He says with a smile before Jeonghan makes his way back to the counter.
“Go ahead, y/n!” he encourages you, “It won’t be the first time we share something. We literally did it the first time we met.”
As you reach for the cupcake, you think to yourself how you would never have thought you’d meet the one you like by sharing a cupcake.
“What did you just say?” Seokmin asks you with a look you never saw on his face.
Oh. Shoot. “Nothing, absolutely nothing.” You tell him, trying to keep your calm. Did you really just say that out loud?
“Me too, y/n.”
“Me too what?” you tell him, hoping he is saying what you think he is.
“I also never thought I’d meet the one I like by sharing a cupcake.” Seokmin tells you, expediently waiting for your answer.
“I like you, y/n.” he says with the most serious expression you ever saw on him, “No, scratch that. I love you. I love how you scrunch up your nose when you laugh. I love how you look at the world. I love how you get obsessed with so many stories that never really exist outside of their pages or your heart. I love how you show so much empathy to others. I love how you pull down on your sleeves when you’re a little cold. I love how you can get riled up quickly but still love your people more than you’ll ever love yourself. I love you. All of the parts that makes you, you. I love it all.”
“Oh, Seokmin…” you tell him softly, with tears in your eyes, “What did I do to deserve all this?” you take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down, “I love you so much. I think if I told people how I fell so fast for you, they’d never understand. They’d never understand us. What we are, what we feel for each other. In the span of a few weeks, you showed me what love really look like. Ever since reading all of these stories, I have hoped to find my own person and all the waiting time was worth it because now I have you.” you tell him, “Or well, I hope I can have you.”
“You have me, my dear y/n. Ever since I walked into that café, you had me.” he tells you as he holds your hand, “I guess we have to thank Jeonghan for all of this.” he chuckles.
“Jeonghan?” you ask, confused, “Why Jeonghan?”
“He’s the one who told me to come check out the strawberry filled cupcake on that particular day.” he explains, “Which is weird since he knew you’d come here that day and you’d take the only cupcake.”
“Oh my god,” you mumble under your breath, “he didn’t.”
You hear Seokmin asks you what you are talking about while you make your way through the empty café towards the counter. You’re surprised to find Seungcheol standing there, talking with both Jeonghan and Joshua.
Jeonghan notices you first; “What’s up, y/n? Need anything else?”
“You three. Come to the table please. I need to talk to you.”
The three of them look at each other, confused and not used to you being so upfront. Still, they follow you and bring chairs to sit with you and Seokmin.
“So,” Seungcheol starts, “what is it?”
You look between the four-man sitting with you before starting, “Me and Seokmin like each other.” You hear Seokmin gasps next to you, not expecting you to say that.
“That’s great!” Joshua almost screams, “is it not?” he says as he looks at Seokmin which answers him with a I’m-as-confused-as-you expression.
“No, it is.” you say calmly, “You see, I never really thought too much about all of the “there’s only one strawberry filled cupcake” ordeal. I mean, things like that could happen.” You say as you look at Jeonghan. He might be a good pranker but you’re good at reading people. You got him, you think to yourself. “But when I think about it, it seems a little weird to me. You tell me you’re out of your best-seller pastry in the middle of the week? As if you wouldn’t anticipate by having enough stock?”
“Things like that could happen…” Seungcheol cuts you off.
“It could. It could also be all a coincidence and if so, I’m really sorry.” you say, believing in your words, “But, honestly, I don’t believe in those coincidences when Yoon Jeonghan is involved.” you say before adding a not to be mean when looking at Jeonghan.
“Jeonghan,” you start, “did you, perhaps, set me and Seokmin up?”
Seokmin starts hissing “He did what?” as Jeonghan starts denying when Joshua almost screams; “Okay he did it! He set you up!”
Jeonghan looks at him with rounded, surprised eyes; “Joshua!” while his friend looks at him with a sorry look. “Best friend card is revoked!” Jeonghan adds.
“Can someone explain me what’s going on?” Seokmin blurbs out.
“Let me do the honor,” Jeonghan starts, everyone listening intently, “I knew our dear y/n came into the café every Wednesday afternoon after her classes and I knew Seokmin badly wanted to come to the café so I told him to come-”
“At the same time as me.” you cut him off.
“At the same time as you…” he says, “And I knew you would take a cupcake, because when do you not-”
“I don’t think you’re in a position to tease her.” Seungcheol adds in the conversation.
“Okay, first of all,” Jeonghan says with a finger pointed at his oldest friend, “don’t cut me off, that’s rude. And secondly,” he says, lowering his finger and looking at you, “I’m sorry, I will not make fun of you for liking this cupcake anymore.”
“Anyway,” he starts again, “I knew you would take this cupcake and I told Seokmin to specifically take the same one as yours and I only put one in the display.” he confesses.
“And how did you know I’d ask to share?” Seokmin starts asking, “And how did you make it so we would literally come into the café at the very same time? Did you hire someone to spy on me so you could plan it all to the second?” he starts panicking while you chuckle at his reaction. He’s so cute, you think to yourself.
“No, I didn’t do that, I was not that eager for you two to get together, come on now.” Jeonghan says with a laugh. “Everything that happened between you two was natural. I just forced you two to meet earlier than what would have, eventually, happened.” he says, looking between you two. “And as for the first question, Seokmin,” he says, fixing his eyes on him, “you’re literally an angel. I was almost afraid you’d cry when you realized you took away their favorite pastry.” Jeonghan says with another chuckle, “I always call myself an angel but we all know I’m a demon in disguise. You’re the angel. I knew you’d do it.” Jeonghan adds as Seokmin blushes looking at you.
You really love him. You take his hand in yours as you turn to look at Jeonghan. “Why did you do it?” you question your demon-like friend, “I’m not mad, I just want to understand.”
“Oh god, you’re not mad?” Jeonghan answers excitedly, “Oh thanks god, I thought I lost my strawberry-filled-cupcake lover.” he jokes around.
“Jeonghan, you’re on thin ice here.” you try to say seriously despite the smile on your face.
“Okay, okay, sorry.” he says as he gets suddenly way more serious, “It’s just… I always see you hanging out here alone, reading your books or studying. And I know you never talk about it but you yearn for something bigger, preferably in the form of love. Any love.” he explains, “I also know you feel alone. Your family and friends are far away, you left them to come to this city and I know you miss being well surrounded.” he says with a sympathetic smile, “Of course, you have people here, but you don’t let yourself have your people because you’re scared you’d have to leave them one day or another.” he continues, “And I know you needed someone that would make all your walls come down and that person is Seokmin.” he admits, looking at your lover, “He’s love in the form of a person. I knew he’d be good to you. I knew he was who you needed.” he adds on, “And I think I did it for myself too. I like talking to you, hanging out with you but I always knew you were keeping up your barriers around me, around us. And, you can ask Joshua or Seungcheol, I always talked about us becoming best friends in the future. And I just did what I needed to do so I could become your person too. Your person in a different way.” He clarifies when he hears Seokmin snicker at his words.
Well, I guess he is better at reading people than I thought.
“Jeonghan…” you say softly, teary eyed, “Where did that come from? I was supposed to be mad at you, not grateful!” you say with a laugh.
“Hey, no! You said you weren’t mad at me!” he says, smiling big, “You’re not a liar now, are you? Or did Seokmin corrupted you already?” he teases, again. There is the Jeonghan I’m used to, you think.
“I think you are the one who corrupted me.” you throw back at him, watching him laugh. “Thank you, Jeonghan. I hate saying it but you were right. All along.” you start, “I wish things were done differently but I also know I’m grateful for how things are now.”
“So, are we good here?” Seungcheol asks.
You look between the four friends and when you see Seokmin smiling at you reassuringly, you decide everything is very good; “Yeah, we are.” you speak.
“Okay, we’re going to go back then.” adds Joshua as they organize the chairs.
“But, hey, Jeonghan,” you say, getting his attention, “wait for my revenge. Because it will come.” You let him know with a smile on your face.
“But you said we were good!” Jeonghan says loudly, as you shrug, “And what about them?” he says, pointing at his two best friends, “They knew and they didn’t say anything!”
“They’re my favorite now so they get a pass.” you throw back at him, an angelic smile on your face while Joshua and Seungcheol snicker next to him, “Now you all can go back to work. I want to enjoy alone time with my boyfriend.” you say looking sweetly at Seokmin.
The 3 same-age friends walks away as you hear Jeonghan mumble “I think I made a mistake by setting them up together… I’m not ready for them to be disgustingly in love.”
“I have never seen someone stand up to Jeonghan like that.” says your now boyfriend while looking at you with heart eyes. You can see it now. How his eyes lit up when he’s next to you and how his smile doesn’t fade away.
“He’s nothing, I swear. He likes annoying people but he gives up easily once you tell him off.” you let him know while looking at him with the same fond look.
“That’s good to know,” he tells you, “When’s your next class?”
You look at your watch, noticing how your class starts in 5 minutes; “I’m late,” you tell him softly.
“What? Well go! I’ll text you later.” He says hurriedly, waving his hands at you as to make you leave.
“It’s fine. I’ll be late.” you say as you hold his hand over the table and look in his eyes, “There’s other classes but there’s no other you.” you tell him as you lean over the table.

"Five, four, three…"
The yoga instructor's voice was the only thing filling Minah and Mingyu's living room. Minah held her breath as the woman counted, trying to recreate the exact position she was teaching.
After the accident, Minah found the wonderful world of online workouts, and she never had to bother about going to the gym again. Not when she could do all that in her living room, not having to interact with other humans but her boyfriend, peacefully sleeping upstairs.
"Okay, now take a deep breath. And now, let it go." Minah did as the instructor said. "That's it for today, everyone. Our next class…"
Minah didn't wait for the video to end to turn off the TV, sitting on her couch and closing her eyes, feeling her muscles and her body racing post-workout. Oh, how she loved being alive.
She took her time there, just enjoying the silence, before deciding it was time for her to wake Mingyu up and get something to eat.
She was in the middle of the hallway when her intercom started ringing. Minah frowned. She didn't invite anyone, and Mingyu would probably warn her if he had. She turned around and headed to the kitchen.
Before even looking closely, Minah recognised who it was.
"Gosh…" she mumbled. Taking the intercom off the hook, Minah answered before anything. "Come in."
It didn't take two minutes before the door slammed open, and twelve men entered the apartment.
"Jesus, I'm so hungry." Dokyeom said, heading straight to the kitchen. He stopped before Minah and gave her a quick kiss on her cheek. "Hi, mom."
Minah lightly slapped his shoulder, making the boys laugh.
In less than a minute, her apartment was looking like a playground.
Seungcheol, Dokyeom and Jeonghan were in the kitchen, looking for something to eat. Joshua, Wonwoo, Jihoon and Minghao turned the TV on again and searched for a game to play, already deciding the pairs. Chan and Seungkwan waved at her and just laid on the couch. Minah made a mental note to brag with Mingyu about her perfect couch choice.
"Okay," she said. "who's gonna tell me what happened?"
"We were bored." Hansol showed up on her side, devouring one of her chocolate sundaes.
"And we missed you." Sooyoung said, trying to add a reason.
"Actually, our AC system broke." Jun whispered at her, heading to one of the guests' bedrooms.
"Hyung!" the men groaned together.
Minah laughed at their reaction.
Somehow, Minah can't even keep a straight face next to them. It always felt like she was in high school again, especially with the younger ones. She noticed Hayun wasn't there.
"Where's Hayun, by the way?"
"No comments on that." Seungcheol said without looking away from the oven, and she understood Hayun was probably sleeping in someone else's house.
"I'm gonna wake Mingyu." she announced, leaving the living room.
"No!" twelve voices echoed together, making her laugh.
"Why waking him up? He's so peaceful while he's asleep." Chan said with a forced smile on his face.
"The house is so quiet. Listen. " Jihoo said, making a signal for them to be quiet. "You can even listen to the birds."
Minah scoffed and shook her head, heading to the hallway leading to her bedroom. Mingyu had already talked to them about showing up without warning.
When she opened the door and got into the bedroom, she wished they were alone. Mingyu was in the same position she left him earlier, and she just wanted to take a quick shower and cuddle him again.
But a loud noise from the kitchen followed by a 'Dokyeom!' made Mingyu sit on the bed.
"What's happening?" he said, before even opening his eyes.
Minah chuckled and sat close to him, pulling him closer in a quick kiss.
"Hi, baby. We have guests." she said, watching Mingyu's sleeping face turning into a confused one, pulling Minah into a hug.
It took Mingyu a few seconds to fully understand what she meant, now rolling his eyes and making Minah laugh.
"I can't believe they did it again." he mumbled against her hair.
"Yes, honey. They did." Minah told him, letting go of his arms. "I'll be waiting for you so we can decide what to eat. We didn't go to the market yesterday, and we don't have enough food for all of us."
"I'll be out in a minute." Mingyu said, getting up and heading to their shared bathroom.
A loud noise from the kitchen made Minah leave the room and go back to the living room to check what happened.
"Oh, they have some good beers here…" Chan said.
Minah was about to tell him to drink some when she felt Mingyu's hand on her shoulder.
"Good morning, guys." he said, making the boys turn their attention to him.
"Oh, look at our Sleeping Beauty!" Soonyoung said, kidding and hugging Mingyu.
"Morning?" Wonwoo said, checking his watch. "It's almost noon, Mingyu-ah."
"Oh, that explains why Seungkwan and Chan are already on their third bottle of soju." Mingyu answered, watching his members toasting one more shot of soju. "Whatever," he shook his head. "we're ordering some pizzas, if you want to stay for dinner."
The boys tsked together and started mumbling.
"I'd love to stay, but I forgot my wallet." Seungcheol said, palming his pockets, trying to sound convincing.
"Me too." Dokyeom said, doing the same thing.
"Me t-"
Before Jihoo could say the same thing, Mingyu interrupted him.
"I'll pay." he told them.
Minah had never seen 12 grown men as happy as the 12 men inside her apartment at that moment. They started to cheer and mock Mingyu, thanking him, and that made her give an honest laugh.
"I'm going to call the girls and invite them over." she told Mingyu, who nodded and gave her a quick kiss on her cheek before she left to get her phone.
"Finally Mingyu hyung is going to open his wallet!" Hansol joked.
"Should we order some more beers, then? And then we can stop at some ice cream shop, and then we can buy some chocolate-" Chan asked.
Before Chan could finish his sentence, Mingyu threw a pillow at him, making the boys burst out.

seungcheol
sunburn. the prominent drum beats and guitars make the song feel darker than some of their others. more grounded, more determined, more assured. nothing whimsical, but still fiercely and unconditionally loving all the same. there's also protection there- the idea of intentionally burning in the sun for people you love to live.
jeonghan
evening glow. it's a song about how one is perceived and receiving love unconditionally anyway, and it's something that, oddly, fits jeonghan. it's also a song that gives off vibes of tired love: not a love that feels exhausting, but of loving someone deeply even when you're at your most exhausted. being by their side no matter what.
joshua
peach eyes. gentlest gentleman song for the gentlest gentleman person in the entire world. it reminds me of cliche romantic moments: picnics by the river, serenading someone on the balcony, kissing under fireworks. the colour imagery of pastels and gentleness fits him so well, too. there's devotion, fondness, looking over at someone and realising you want to spend the rest of your life with them.
junhui
daisy. it's whimsical. it's romantic. it's almost painfully fluffily cheesy and hopelessly infatuated and adorable, just like junhui. it's eyes lighting up almost embarrassingly bright when you see your favourite person. it's giggling internally when you finally hold hands with them. it's junhui in a nutshell.
hoshi
pueblo. it's chill. it's a chill song, don't-carish but also just at peace. it feels like the soundtrack to a vlog that he'd make, playing in the background as he walks down a bridge, hoodie hanging off one shoulder while the sun beats down on him, but he feels calm. honestly the song just makes me think of 231005 hoshi tbh.
wonwoo
love. the opening notes of this song are so, so lavender purple, and the lyrics are very silver. those of you who have read my wonwoo synaesthesia post know how important that is to me. but it's also so gentle, almost relaxed, in its message of love, like faces melting into smiles that lift up the lips almost of their own accord.
woozi
gold. the drums at the beginning with their syncopated beats is so delicious and basically sold this song as woozi-coded to me. but also the conviction and the determination and self-confidence is so present in this song. it makes me think of bronze coloured pedestals and nameless faces in a crowd but also immense sense of self-assuredness.
minghao
light. it reminds me of some watercolour-style animated movie with no dialogue, only music, and changing sceneries of watercolor people living in a watercolor world. it's whimsical, but not quite. it's dreamy, but only almost. nevertheless, it's romantic, devastatingly so, and promises care and affection like no other.
mingyu
so real. can't explain this one tbh. it starts off so chill and minghao-esque, but it makes me think of mingyu too bc this man is so perceptive and very feeling and very very empathetic. and then the crescendo into a jazzy instrumental outro? it's so so mingyu in the busy-ness of it and the swirling colours and brightness and desire to be perceived but also to be perceived well.
dokyeom
calla. the elegance and the beauty and the hope and the natural imagery that this entire song and it's title evokes is so dk it actually hurts. the blues melodies with the accidentals add a yearning note to the song and it's all so complex and beautiful and reminds me of him. also the message of protection? of nurture? of growth? does that not make you think of him too?
seungkwan
wave. this feels like roadtrips, but peaceful roadtrips. like snapshots of someone rolling down the car window, trailing their hand through the air as they drive down a road by the sea. it's like a daisy petal love, soft and numerous and almost child-like, full of a love that's been long established and carries the promise of many, many more years of comfort together.
vernon
bad. the idea of gentle devotion in the lyrics. the idea that seeing one particular person instantly makes your entire day better. the idea of utter adoration and unconditional love. that's so so vernon actually, and the gentleness and unquestioning, inexplicable, "of course my day was good. i saw you" is so devastatingly him in ways i just cannot explain
chan
surf. the chill, the groove, the lightness? it's jazzy, light like sunlight peeking through thin white curtains. it's a song that immediately makes you smile and feel almost coyly warm, almost like the comfort and security that comes with taking someone's hand and running away from other people's control: it's a giddy security, perhaps a bit tenuous, but makes you feel alive.

💎🍒🦖Day 8: "I’m not okay." - Alternate
Drowning/Chair/Prison Trade
@juneofdoom
Day 7: “What happened?"
Summary: Chan falls off the boat - Seungcheol tries to save him.
CW: mentions of drowing, mentions of emeto
Whumpee: Chan + Seungcheol Caretaker: Seungcheol + Joshua (briefly)
It was so unexpected. One minute they were having fun, the next a scream pierced through the air.
They were on a sailing boat. After they had been given instructions on how to sail, they were left on their own. Well, except for the cameramen and the two managers who were to accompany them. It was supposed to be a relaxing episode of Going Seventeen, just watching the members adjust to being on the water. It was fun - had been fun.
“Chan-ah”, Seungkwan yelled from the other side of the deck, “Chan-ah. Hyung!”
Seungcheol sprung to his feet, nearly stumbling on the uneven deck. He needed to be there - five minutes ago. He had never heard Seungkwan this terrified.
The leader had sat with a green Jihoon, the color of his face only topped by an even greener and greyer Jeonghan. But all notions of seasickness seemed to have vanished and been replaced by fear for what awaited them as they too jumped up.
Nearly slipping again, Seungcheol sprinted around the corner to finally see what had gotten their dongsaeng so upset. Well, the problem, as they soon found out, was that they didn’t see anything.
“Kwan-ah?”, Seungcheol asked only to have his arms full of sobbing dongsaeng within seconds. He held the younger tightly and then his heart froze when he saw Wonwoo attempt to climb over the barrier that kept them from plunging five meters into the cold sea. Wonwoo, who couldn’t swim.
“Wonwoo-yah, stop”, he yelled, “what do you think you are doing?”
“Chan”, the rapper replied breathlessly, “he … Chan fell in.”
Now it felt like Seungcheol’s whole body was drenched by a bucket of ice water. They had just been filming, playing around and … he pushed Seungkwan away and ran to the railing, grabbing onto the back of Wonwoo’s shirt.
At first he couldn’t see anything in the gray waves. Then, further away than expected, there was Chan’s orange shirt.
“Hyung, let me get to him”, Wonwoo yelled and tried to push Seungcheol away. The leader held on as tightly as earlier, looking around at the group. Seungkwan was now clinging to DK and Hoshi who was also holding Jihoon’s hand in his. Jeonghan was in Joshua’s arms, looking very very ill. Jun, Minghao and Vernon were nowhere to be seen. Mingyu was crying on his own.
“Stop this madness, Wonwoo. You can’t swim”, Seungcheol called and pushed him in Mingyu’s direction. The tallest member caught the stumbling rapper, holding him tight no matter how much Wonwoo struggled. “You’ll drown.”
Then while everybody was distracted watching Wonwoo fight against Mingyu’s grip, Seungcheol leaped over the railing. Before his body hit the water he heard somebody yell his name, then everything froze.
The water was even colder than Seungcheol had imagined. His muscles locked up at first and his breath was taken from him. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t let any of his dongsaeng’s drown. Not their maknae. He just hoped the other members were able to hold each other back.
He pushed his body up to the surface, his lungs screaming for air. Maybe he had been underwater for longer than he had thought.
As his head broke the surface, he couldn’t hear anything but the crashing waves. Nothing but endless water was in front of him. He gasped for air, turning around and trying to spot the maknae. Chan could swim, he was good. Seungcheol just hoped he managed to hold out until he found him.
Movement attracted his eyes and then he saw the ship. Hoshi was waving at him, shouting something that was lost in the wind. But he kept pointing at something that was at Seungcheol’s left. As he turned his head, he caught a glimpse of orange.
Suddenly not feeling the icy coldness anymore, neither wind or water, Seungcheol swam into the direction he was pointed. He wasn’t a bad swimmer by any means but the waves and especially the heavy clothing was making his endeavor harder than he had imagined. Every wave seemed to push him further back instead of to the front. He didn’t want to think about what was below him, what horrors awaited in the deep.
Still, he pushed on. He had a maknae to save.
The waves forced him under and more than once he swallowed disgusting sea water. His throat and nose felt awful, his eyes were burning and Chan wasn’t any closer.
Exhaustion was quickly overtaking his body. His muscles ached, his teeth were chattering and he was so tired. What if he gave up? Just let the water consume him?
But no. Chan needed him. Eleven other people on the boat alone trusted him to get their baby back safe. There was no time for selfishness.
Yet. Seungcheol’s will was slowly dwindling. He was so tired. He gave up on doing the next stroke. Immediately a wave crashed into his face pulling him under. His breath was taken from him and everything was dark.
Was this what drowning felt like?
It was awful and so, so painful. His chest hurt so badly. Seungcheol couldn’t subject Chan to this. He pushed on, despite having no idea where he was. Where he himself was. He had lost his orientation a long time ago, couldn’t tell if the ship was directly behind him or just out of eyesight on his left or right.
He didn’t know if he was swimming into the right direction.
Until…
Until suddenly only a few meters in front of him, there was movement. With renewed strength, Seungcheol swam on, his own tiredness forgotten.
“Chan-ah”, he called, ignoring the water that ran into his mouth. “Chan-ah.”
“Hyung? Cheollie-hyung?”, a frightened voice called to him. Another stroke and Seungcheol was able to grab onto something solid for the first time he was in the water.
“Chan-ah”, he whispered, holding the maknae close and struggling to keep them afloat with just his legs. At least Chan was wearing a life-vest, not his shirt orange but the life-saving measure. Seungcheol had taken his own life vest off - fifteen minutes into the sailing after Jeonghan had thrown up on it a bit.
The terrified maknae clung to him, nearly pushing Seungcheol down. “I got you, Chan-ah, I got you.”
As Seungcheol looked around, trying to spot the boat, he realized how far away they were. If Seungcheol didn't know they were totally surrounded by water, he would have thought that the whole sea was between them and safety.
Chan seemed to have the same thought.
"Hyung, we'll never make it", he whimpered, "I am so scared."
"Don't be scared, maknae-yah. Hyung has got you. You'll be safe soon", Seungcheol promised what he couldn't.
So he just swam, one frightened dongsaeng clinging to his back. Despite the fact that it was even harder now to move forwards and that Seungcheol could feel neither his legs nor arms, they made a quicker process than he had on the way to Chan.
It was like new power helped him since he had reached the maknae.
Faint calls soon were heard and then somebody was tearing Chan away from him. He blindly clutched the maknae to him, not understanding what was happening. He needed to protect Chan.
“Hyung, let go”, a familiar voice called, “I got Chan-ah.”
Blinking water from his eyes Seungcheol saw the greatest view he had ever seen. Jun, holding onto a lifebelt, and reaching for Chan. Seungcheol shoved the maknae into Jun’s direction.
Then he didn’t feel anything for some time.
The next thing he was aware of was sitting on the deck of the ship, Joshua having wrapped a blanket around his shoulders. His teeth were chattering and Seungcheol was still so cold.
“Chan-ah?”, Seungcheol gasped out, staring up at his friend.
Joshua’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. “He’s with a manager, Jun, Seungkwan and Hoshi. The question is …”
Relief at the thought of knowing that Chan was safe turned Seungcheol’s stomach and he fell into his knees, hands impacting with the hardwood, trying to find purchase.
“Shua? I don’t think I’m okay. I’m … definitely … I’m not okay.”
