Anchored

What does it mean for a Christian to be anchored? The ability to be safe and secure.

In September 2020 we were fishing and God put an old song on my mind, The Anchor Holds. I looked it up on YouTube and listened to it, this song became a nightly habit. I knew God was speaking, I didn't know what it was about yet. Still I listened, I knew he was calling me deeper because you don't need an anchor in the shallows. While we were fishing I learned a few things about anchors. We learned that if you have the wrong type of anchor even 2 anchors won't hold the boat. We headed for the rocks every time! Believe me shipwrecked isn't something I ever want to experience. I'm not a swimmer, I don't want to be in the lake and if I have to, I want to be able to touch the bottom....and God is telling me go deep, trust me, faith over fear...honestly I didn't want to go deeper, fear held me back but God was calling and I had to answer. I hesitated. With my fear of deep water you might expect me to wear my lifejacket but truth be known most of the time my lifejacket is hung on my fishing chair. You see it didn't bother me to be in th boat in deep water. I was secure, Dan is careful, the boat is new so the odds are favorable. But at night I searched spiritually for what God was saying through this song. I longed to hear this song every night, I kept thinking "God is speaking Terri, so listen up!" I listened to this song during days of great struggle, I listened when days were good and all the while God is calling me to go deeper. Somewhere between fear and faith I let go of control of everything. I know its funny to think I believed I could control any part of my life. I finally gave in and took the leap of faith out into the deep still waters, I didn't sink or drown. It set me FREE! Freedom to do exactly what God has called me to do. Walk in places I haven't yet walked but I'm called to go, to do, to be everything God Almight intended for me to be. I AM anchored but not weighted down.

Regular Posting

I used to peg posting anything on needing people to see it. Now? I Will post things for my own benefit. I need to vent.... Often. I will use all manner of social networks to get that accomplished. I'm not an attention whore, I never was. I genuinely needed help. Now? I'm helping others out of depression. I spent 8 years trying to kill myself and 8 years in self loathing. So I know all there is to know about being at rock bottom. I quit depression because I was sick of it always being about me. I quit depression because there was no other option. Depression, suicide, and cutting are selfish, cowardly, and pointless. Take life a day at a time until you pick yourself up. Jesus found me when I had given up on life. I was raised in a Christian home. Didn't matter... I still sinned like Satan until one day I truly came to know him on my own. There is no excuse to stay depressed no matter how bad it is, there is a choice to ignore the hate and fight for your life because you are worth it.
