🪡 BONE WEAVER 🪡 Well, I'm a week late in posting this, but I wanted to be sure and say a hearty "Happy Release! 🎉" to @adenpolydoros and BONE WEAVER! I have been a huge fan of Aden's from the moment I read his debut book five years ago (if you haven't read his Project Pandora series, do yourself a favor and pick it up!). I haven't had a chance to read BONE WEAVER yet, but it's definitely on my Fall TBR. (You can swipe to see a pic of THE CITY BEAUTIFUL I took last year but apparently never posted 🤦🏻‍♀️) I adore Aden and his books, and if you've not read anything of his yet, consider this your sign to go forth and do so! 🤩 Q: Are there any less-well-known authors that you love, and want to hype? Leave names below! I'm always looking for new great writers to follow! 🪡🪡🪡 #boneweaver #thecitybeautiful #adenpolydoros #adenpolydorosauthor #jewishliterature #jewishfiction #jewishfictionbooks #jewishauthors #yalit #yaliterature #yaliteraturejunkie #yaliteratureisthebest #youngadultbooks #youngadult #youngadultfiction #lgbtqbooks #lgbtqbookstagram #lgbtqauthors #lgbtqauthor #yabooks #yabookstagram #yabookstagrammer #yabook #ncbookstagrammer #ncbooklovers #bookkeepingblog #favoriteauthor #favoriteauthors #newrelease #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CjBE8Z8rtUM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Survivors of the Holocaust: True Stories of Six Extraordinary Children, edited by Kath Shackleton, art by Zane Whittingham, is a collection of six true stories from survivors of the Holocaust who were children when it happened. Each of them was Jewish and ended up in England, but the similarities in their stories end there. There's a variety of perspectives included, such as a child who was removed via Kindertransport, a child hidden in rural France, a child who left before the war started and had to be interned as an enemy alien for being German despite also being Jewish, and a survivor of Auschwitz. The stories are great ways for kids and adults alike to be introduced to the horrors of the Holocaust. I was lukewarm on the illustrations as they portrayed Nazis as being sort of monstrous, and I think that's detrimental to the idea of never allowing this to happen again as if people expect Nazis to be monstrous then they won't be wary of how mundane evil can be. Otherwise, it's a solid book for readers to start learning about the Holocaust from. #holocaust #holocaustremembranceday #bookrecommendations #bookreview #books #reading #booksofinstagram #booksofinsta #bookstagram #jewishliterature #graphicnonfiction #comics #comicbooks #graphicmemoir #graphicnovel #graphicnovels https://www.instagram.com/p/CZQO9pirZRR/?utm_medium=tumblr

this was incredible. spiegalman’s artistic use of mice instead of humans within his holocaust story is simultaneously unnerving and disarming, without detracting from the story at all. the first half is primarily focused on art’s life, learning about his parent’s relationship prior to auschwitz. the latter focuses on vladek, his brilliant yet insane father and the various trials he faced in outliving auschwitz. since reading fun house by bechdel and persepolis by satrapi i’ve come to love the use of graphic novels to reveal harrowing or emotional tales. spiegalman’s maus is just as good, if not better. don’t let the adorable mice fool you, this is packed with graphic details of the holocaust. 4.5/5 ⭐️ #bookstagram #book #books #maus #mausbyartspiegelman #artspiegelman #jewish #jewishliterature #holocaust #holocaustliterature #graphicnovel #auschwitz https://www.instagram.com/p/CKRemsLFvZT/?igshid=tixm036uxk1p

“Lise Referred the newspaper on the train sit next to her. All week there has been bad news of the war and nothing to do but wait for more.” These words apply today because the bad news of COVID-19 and the misinformation continues to pour in. However, I continue to travel within the pages of a book; this book takes me to France, just after or close to its liberation and chronicles the stories of escape, survival, and human resilience. #currentlyreading This book was a “happy accident. “ I was contemplating what to read next, fiction wise, and this one poked out, and I picked it up and started traveling away. Why did I wait so long to read it? I’ve had for awhile. Book 9 of 25 books to read and I am still reading poems from the “Jane and Bertha in Me.” #rachelhall #jewishstudies #jewishliterature #family #shortstories @bkmk press (at Manatee Bend Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCWfnYkhRMU/?igshid=16hw1sgs3zz87

Book of the Day November 21st -- Historical Fiction, Rated 4/4 Temporarily Discounted: https://forums.onlinebookclub.org/shelves/book.php?id=485472 Acts of Hope by Martin Elsant This book has received a PERFECT 4/4 rating by the Onlinebookclub.org Review Team! A New Christian woman embarks on a journey to reclaim her Jewish heritage. She meets several others on their own unique quests: an English doctor trying to reestablish a Jewish homeland, a pirate and an innkeeper seeking revenge for the Inquisition’s crimes, a Muslim honor victim fighting for justice, and a Catholic seminary student risking his life to end all Inquisitions, everywhere. " ... the book is exceptionally well executed and includes characters that I love and can relate to. The book is also well researched and offers the names of additional reading material on that period in history." 4/4 Onlinebookclub review This is the second book in a series, but functions as a standalone novel. This book is so easy to fall into, yet really deep. I always start the best books just before their due dates and then end up having to try and read them super fast. ••••• #bookstagram #books #instabook #bookporn #currentlyreading #librarybooks #historicalfiction #thebeautyqueenofjerusalem #sarityishailevi #israeliliterature #jewishliterature
