Buildtober Day #15 Reading Nooks 📚

‘I believe I will play some minecraft today’, was an idle thought I had a few days ago as I came across an Avomance video for ”Absolutely amazing Minecraft Seeds!” One of the seeds caught my attentions so I went through the hassle of updating minecraft and optifine. I flirted with the idea of looking for another skin for my character only to decide against it with the absolute timesinks those are. I did end up installing the Jicklus texture pack because Ive used it forEVER and a day, and Stoneborn, because I am a dwarf in minecraft. may as well. So I l oad in the “Mesa Lake” seed and off I go. Damn, that is a nice Mesa., mm hmm. But first thing I want to do is the same thing I always want to do, build an unnecessarily large manual labor farm! and I must find a nearby suitable bit of land to terraform and begin building one of my haphazard bases. Realize this will take too long. turn on peaceful mode because I just. do not want to deal with  mobs today, and the sun is setting. Find a good bit of land and begin my process. Realize I need shears. mm ok. need iron for that. there happens to be a nearby ravine I can dig my way into, so I do just that. Before too long I’ve found some iron and make my shears, and wonder if that was the best choice since I cant even make a bucket, but oh well. Have a absolute ham of a time finding and shearing sheep to make a bed before I decide I need more iron, so it looks like Im going back into the ravine. Begin strip mining a small area while working my way down. Before too long I find an open area and my curiosity gets the better of me. its like a naturally occurring slide, thats 3 blocks high. I can’t stop myself from descending further and furthar. Never falling more than 2 or 3 blocks at a time. I want to be safe and not die after all! I HAVE found some iron that I need to take back with me. But what IS this natural cave generation? Ive never seen anything like it! I know they updated minecraft with new biomes, but I wasn’t ready for this. While I thank my lucky stars that I have peaceful mode on I come across what appears to be a few large bodies of water underground. Not entirely unusual, sometimes that happens, but Im surprised it wasnt a lake of lava, I notice some gold and iron deposits in the water and while I’m debating on whether or not its going to be worth it to try and dig them up I run into my very first glow squids. My friends What on earth? What are these things? they’re SPARKLY? Thats cool as hell! Im now wandering the rim of this pool to get a look at them and notice that the pool is nestled onto a precipece of a cliff and has a waterfall ccoming off the side. thats PERFECT! I can ride the waterfall down this massive chasm safely to the bottom! So I do just that, since nature just gave me the best elevator around and while Im on my way down I see my first big pool of lava, with, several lava falls, and... other assorted waterfalls. huh. Now I have found myself inside a massive cathedral cavern, spotted with glowing mushrooms, something purple off in the distance, glow squids occassionally falling out of their overhead pools to suffocate. Minerals GALORE down here! lapis! gold! diamond! so much iron! It’s only when I start to run out of inventory that the thought crosses my mind that I have absolutely NO recollection of the path I took to get here. I am lost. My only companions are the bats. I have scant few torches left. for a moment I am in a mild panic. Im lost down here, and Im out of resources. I mean, at least I wont starve, seems I dont get hungry on peaceful mode. so thats a blessing.But what now? I remember then, looking through my inventory that I have dirt, and saplings. and enough assorted torches on the ground to provide light for these trees to grow. Hopefully. So After a bit of baited breath waiting, it turns out that torches do indeed provide enough light for saplings to grow. So now I have wood, for charcoal and sticks. and lumber. good good.Friends, I have no idea how or if I am going to leave this place at this time.

My Survival Base! ヘ(￣ω￣ヘ)

This one is located just accross the water from my little swamp home, featuring a wool farm, chicken coop and an Xp Bank!

Originally built as an xp bank/farm tower, i expanded it to give it a more cozy wibe and eventually it turned into my base of operations.

I got a kind of Dark Souls’y vibe from it when i built it, thought of the Guardian Dragon’s Cage from the second game alot. However, mostly inspired by circular hillforts and such!  ヽ(〃･ω･)ﾉ
