Dear Weirdnessproductions,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: All of us answer letters of our choosing, though I do write many of Widget's dialogues, so thank you.
Co-Mod: Widget's a treat on his own, I'd say. All we're doing is trying to keep him that way. š Thanks, though!
(The links will be with the answered letter)
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Thank you.

Dear Dawsongfg,

Hey Co-Mod, it looks like you got an imposter hahahahahahahahahahaha!
Co-Mod: ...I'm not sure whether to be more disturbed at being impersonated or the thought of putting a bacon mask on my face. 𫤠(And for the record, I hate root beer. š)

Dear jnv11,
Chief Mod Edgeworth:
That letter about him being an actor wasn't answered by me but aside from that, I'd like to believe he went for both Shakespearean and physical art. I mean... why not?
Dear Charicla,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: I think I did have a letter originally meant for Beanix, only for it to be answered by Trilogy Phoenix. It was fun.

Dear Dawsongfg,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: I know Co-Mod is supposed to answer this one, but I thought I'd mention that this is a reference to a show or movie I can't remember. Co-Mod often writes letters that make show, movie or game references.
Co-Mod: It was a reference to the game Class of '09, actually.
I have a bad habit of referencing things I largely dislike but find inspiring, apparently. š
(These Four Referenced Letters)
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: I have watched Turnabout Spotlight and Turnabout Teleportation. I've been meaning to watch Farewell, My Turnabout.
To answer your question, no we do not accept them as canon. However, I have made references to them and the mangas in previous letters.
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Thank you. Also, The Mod and Co-Mod should be given credit too, since they've been running this blog far longer than I have.

Dear Dawsongfg,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: It's good. Though, I won't be officially celebrating it where I'm at until Saturday due to... erm... scheduling with my family and shit.
Co-Mod: It went okay for me, I'd say. My church set up a big fireworks show in the parking lot, and I probably threw enough poppers on the ground to make Datz Are'bal jump out of his skin, so that was pretty cool.
And if you're talking about sending American Revolutionary War stuff to the TGAAC characters, that's fine, even if you're trolling. Well...fine for anyone but you, anyway. š
Kidding, of course.

Dear Jnv11,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: I think this is more like an error from the wiki itself, which does happen from time to time.
Simon Keyes did keep track of Dogen and Knightly by translating their letters and correspondence chess from Knightlyās writing to brail and vice versa. So no, he was not playing correspondence chess with either one of them. He was translating the letters and delivering it to them. They mightāve made the mistake of believing they were playing with Simon Keyes, but I donāt remember if theyāve ever mentioned it. As far as I know, the game never states that Simon Keyes had ever played correspondence chess.Ā
Itās also different from playing physical chess and Simon Keyes is in his sweet facade mode, so take that how you will.Ā
(Referenced Letter)
Dear Tropetaker,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Yeah, it is a shame. Though, I am glad Ginaās mentor ended up being Gregson. We get so many terrible mentors and not enough good ones like Mia Fey.Ā
Dear Miraz van Nohrr,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Until recently, we couldnāt see any email addresses. If they send ten letters in the span of three minutes, itās a clear sign itās from them. Thereās also their unique way of writing letters. Not a foolproof way of knowing itās the same person, but those are just some of the ways we know.Ā
Now, that we can see email addresses again, it should be easier. Though, it is possible to change the email to make it look like itās from someone else. It all comes down to the times and minutes each letter is sent.
Ā Mod Franziska: I can kind of tell from their typing style but also when Iām checking letters. If I just see āanonymousā like 10 times then yeah I can tell clearly.
(Referenced Letter)
Dear Inferno,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Itās okay. Just remember to specify the date the letter takes place in. I sometimes make this mistake when I write letters too.Ā
Dear Dawsongfg,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Well, thereās one out of a few things we agree on. Not that it earns a gold star or anything. It just goes without saying.Ā
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Itās mostly our interpretation of the characters. We go based on whatās told to us by the other characters and so on. It also helps I have a fan fiction where Cindy Stone is an important character.
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: One word: NO. Not my thing.

(Referenced Letter)
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Alright, so if I was babysitting my neighborās daughter from age 10 to age 12 at age 21, then separated seven years later to meet her again at age 18 and decided to date her, thatās completely fine? That, in no way shape or form, would make anyone question if I was a MAP or pedophile?Ā
Let me repeat, a girl I knew from age 10 to age 12, whom I would ONLY know her from that small age, I can fall in love with and date seven years later without anyone batting an eye? This girl, age 18, would still see me as the same person that babysat her at a young age, still looks to me like the babysitter, and dating her would not in any way seem disturbing? Do you have any idea what you are saying?
Maybe Iām thinking too much, but when my dad met the girl he babysat as a small child decades later, he was freaking out because of how much she grew. The same happens to me. Someone Iāve known as a small child grows up to an adult and it surprises me of how much theyāve grown. Even with the years that have passed, you still see that person as a small child. Itās almost impossible to peer with them at that point. Even Blackquill said so himself that Athena was his mentorās treasure and Athena constantly tells him not to treat her as a child. What does that tell you? I know it tells me that Blackquill still sees Athena as the small child he looked after for his mentor.
But hey, if you wish to ship them, then do so to your heartās content. Personally, Iād like to not touch any ships that have any hint of shipping a child with an adult. Using theĀ āoh theyāve been separated for X amount of yearsā argument feels no different from theĀ ātheyāre not related, so itās not incest to ship step-siblingsā argument, which is still incest. Please tell me with a straight face that you would totally date the kid you babysat for two years seven years ago, who is now 18.Ā
Again, Kazuma and Barok were ADULTS when they first met. Barokās brain isnāt going to see Kazuma as a child because Barok didnāt know him as a child. It works in reverse where half the time you forget that this person was a minor ten years ago because you only know them as an adult.
Ā Mod Franziska: Hereās my take on this: lets not ship stuff that is clearly considered pedophilia or incest.
Dear Dawsongfg,
Chief Mod Edgeworth:Ā
Hm? Sorry, I was mostly skimming through this letter. What were we talking about again?Ā
Ā Mod Franziska: What should I even say to this?
Dear dawsongfg,
Mod Justice:
What in the world are th-
OH,Ā āLEGO City Undercoverā! Okay. Alright.
Sorry about brain-farting there...
(You really gotta do better than that, Mod Justice...)
Anyway, yeah. I remember that scene. Although, my favorite isnāt that one or its remake; rather, itās the one from the 3DS prequel that came out a little later.
Hereās a playthrough, if anyoneās interested!
(Referenced Letter)
Chief Mod Edgeworth: No, itās not. We are remembering those that have given their lives to defend America or loved ones that have passed away. Why shouldnāt we be happy to remember those that have passed away? Are you implying that because theyāre dead, we shouldnāt be happy at all? To that, I give you this.
(Warning: Language and vulgar gesture)
(Previous Letter)
Dear Anonymous,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Erm... about that. That was Mod Justice that photoshopped the letter to make it look like that. All I did was answer it. Itās much easier to read on the app so Iād try going on your phone to read it. Apologies.Ā
Ā Mod Franziska: We cant really do anything about the quality of the letters we get sent bro.
Mod Justice:
Yeeeeaaaahhhhh... Sorry about that, guys.
Dear Blueballoontaco,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Of course. Thank you for your compliment.
Mod Justice: And an additional thanks for your support!
Dear Dawsongfg,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: No. Not my thing.
Mod Justice: Aw... I feel you would enjoy it. I mean, it had franchises likeĀ Doctor WhoĀ and The GooniesĀ while it lasted!
Chief Mod Edgeworth: Iāve already played LEGO Batman and LEGO Star Wars with my younger siblings and... not my thing. Iāve only watched The LEGO Movie and LEGO Batman Movie.
(Referenced Letter)
Dear Sinyove,
Chief Mod Edgeworth: From what I understand from what limited video clips of the characters saying the name of Khuraāin and Kurain, it does seem as if both are pronounced differently. Take it as you will.

Dear jnv11,
Thatās just my username.
Has a nice ring to it, donāt you think?Ā I donāt speak any Japanese, but my mom was into Japanese culture for as long as I knew her, so I decided to use a Japanese name as a way of honoring her.Ā Widget even has a partly-developed Japanese mode!
Sore wa subarashī kotode wa arimasen ka?
Iāve thought about learning it, but all those characters look like graffiti to me, and the only person I know who can teach me carries authentic Japanese weaponry.
And uses it.

Dear jnv11,
Co-Mod: Huh...Ā How about that?Ā Sorry for missing that detail.Ā I blame it on the depth of Ace Attorneyās characters (and the fact that it was Grossberg I was researching).Ā Thanks for that added detail, too...I guess.
Dear Anonymous,
Co-Mod: I didnāt see your letter, unfortunately (unless itās already been answered).Ā Your actual email address isnāt required, by the way -- you can just use a made-up one if you want.Ā Donāt ask me to try to explain the ways of Tumblr, ācause I canāt.
Dear Anonymous,
Mod Vera: Hey, Iām still getting used to the specifics of running this blog as a Moderator, and Iāve been a fan for years! No worries, friend.
Co-Mod: Yeah, thatās not an official rule or anything.Ā Even if it was, itād be pointless to try to enforce it, so no problem.
Dear Kyruki,
Co-Mod:
Do I dare ask what the context for this is?
Mod Vera: Oh, geez! And I thought PokĆ©mon stopped incorporating over-the-top religious symbolism with graveyards shaped like crosses and whatnot. I almost donāt want to ask what the context for this is; itās sort of amazing on its own as a mystery.
Dear bluedragoncody,
Thereās no real criteria; itās just whatever gives us those moments of inspiration. If the opportunity presents itself, or if the regular sprites just donāt give us quite the right reaction weāre going for...āEureka!ā
Dear sinyove,
Heās a little too unpredictable to say for certain, but itād probably involve a lot of maniacal laughter, then a bitter reflection of how the law was never a sunny, safe place for people like him.
Followed by more maniacal laughter.
Dear Gumshoe Fan,
Unfortunately, said Magical Mod has moved on to greener screens, but Iām sure theyād appreciate the love! Iām pretty sure all of us here owe our dedication to the blog to their hard work.
The AAA team is filled for now, but as the newest addition, Iāll say my favorite song from the games isĀ āHotline of Fateā from JFA. It was so good at getting my heart racing in that last case!
Dear Anonymous,
We did, and the answerer did apologize and explain the confusion. Even the most experienced Mod makes mistakes when theyāre not learning all the ins and outs of a new gig.
We also got the replies on all subsequent Edgeworth posts. In the future, if thereās a mistake, just one private message to the Mods and a little patience is all thatās required. Weāre only human, after all.
Dear Anonymous,
Iām a fan of both Simons - Blackquill and Keyes - as well as Lang, Kay, Godot, Athena, Apollo and Edgeworth.
As for ships, Iām going to have to be basic and say Mia/Diego. It was my first real ship, and I still love its heartbreakingness. Itās bittersweet...like dark coffee with just a hint of sugar.

Dear Guquis,
It has indeed.Ā Thank you for joining me on it!
Iād love it if I could stay a little longer, but itās time to shift my gaze elsewhere for awhile.Ā My plan, as stated before, is to be gone for around 6 months, but thatās a definite maybe...which, as it turns out, is a contradiction.
Thank you very much for the well wishes!Ā I wish you success as well.Ā That goes for all of you, by the way.
Dear Anthony,
Right you are, but this might be the next best thing to heaven (for me, at least).Ā Thanks!
Dear skibot99,
Thank you!Ā *Trucy grin*Ā Iām definitely going to miss answering everyoneās letters here, but hopefully Iāll be a bit fresher whenever I return.
The idea of an eternally continuing blog is a little bit of both, actually -- cool because it would mean people could talk to their favorite Ace Attorney characters for generations, and creepy because theyād eventually be as old as they pyramids are today.Ā Come to think of it, thatās true about pretty much everything.Ā Eternity is a bizarre topic, isnāt it?
(Previous Letter)
Dear Candance,
Thatās why they say never to meet your heroes.
Dear jnv11,
I just decided to wish her a happy birthday, as you already saw.Ā Just seven more years, and sheāll be bopping lawyers on the head with her staff.
Dear Keya Aghaei,
I never got into the Dragonball series, so Iāll just have to take your word for it on this one.Ā I could point out that Gaāran never went so far as to destroy a planet, but she might if she had the means to, for all we know.Ā And if byĀ āpretty niceā you mean utterly catastrophic, then Iād have to agree.
Dear asexual-deesasters,
Thatās the beauty of Ace Attorney sprites -- the charactersā expressions can be reused to mean different things.Ā In this case, Phoenix could be feeling tired, sly, flirty, or just reading something printed on your shirt.Ā You canāt really tell without context.
Dear John,
Yep, you wrote it.Ā I decided not to answer it because it involves a subject that Iāve placed in the ālargely tabooā category (namely, same-sex attraction).Ā Itās nothing personal, itās just a bit too risky of a topic for this blog.Ā Sorry about that.
(Previous Letter)
Dear bluedragoncody,
Iām glad we agree there.
Thatās...all I had to say about that, actually.
Iām doing okay myself -- thank God for that, too.Ā The biggest struggle Iāve been facing is keeping my head on straight with so many things going on at once lately (Iām sure I donāt even need to get specific there), but I'm taking it all in stride somehow.Ā I hope the rest of you have been able to do so as well.
The other mods are also doing well, as far as I can tell.Ā We donāt discuss our real-life situations very often, but we do look out for each otherās wellbeing.
And yes, theyāre all still around, in case youāre wondering.Ā Theyāve just been a lot busier than me.

Dear youngbounty,
Guess I spoke too soon, huh?Ā I might take a look at your story if I can find the time, but just the idea of Manfred having no choice but to hire the lawyer who ruined his perfect record and got him sent to prison to defend his wife in court intrigues me.Ā I hope you can make something good out of it.
And youāre welcome!Ā Thank you for sending us letters.Ā We canāt answer them if we donāt get any, after all.

Dear mungeondaster,
I just made that pun on the fly, so Iām glad you liked it.

Here we go:
Thank you sincerely for sharing your appreciation and understanding.Ā Like I said before, Iād make this a lifelong project if I could get paid for it, but sadly, thatās not the way it is.Ā Itās been great being able to keep it going this long, though.Ā The fact that we could pull it off for three years is all the proof I need that miracles exist.Ā Thank you for enjoying and taking part in it!
I wish the very same things for you and everyone reading this: the best of luck, joy, and health for this year and on beyond it.

Dear jnv11,
Pearly never got a proper education, huh?Ā She obviously turned out okay, but I still canāt help feeling sorry for her.Ā Thereās so much to learn out there!
Knowledge is power!
I guess thatās not as bad as going to university and dating a black widow, though.Ā I wouldnāt be surprised if that event still affected Mr. Wrightās love life, but I doubt itās related to the toilet-cleaning obsession.Ā Thatās probably just his experiences with his roommate talking to him.
His reluctance to let Trucy date probably stems from things that have happened to people he cares about, on the other hand -- his boss being murdered, his friends being accused of murder...Ā Not to mention Trucy being in the defendantās chair, on top of being kidnapped once.Ā Stuff like that can make even perfectly sane people overprotective.Ā Weāll just have to give him some time with it.
Iām not sure how much help the Mood Matrix would be, though.Ā If finding potential murderers was that easy, Iād be a zillionaire by now.

Dear Alex Cornejo,
My guess is that she at least visited Phoenix every now and then.Ā The Mod once made a picture of her looking sadly at the spot on his suit where his badge used to be, but I was unable to find it.Ā And I think it should be obvious why she returned in the newest game: fan service because sheās awesome!
Dear springtime562 and Springtrap,
Thanks!Ā Weāll have a fight over which one of us you were referring to now.
(Previous Letters)
Dear bluedragoncody,
They were made by The Mod, and he hasnāt been around for a long time now, so...I believe we can apply the doctrine of laches here.Ā In other words, go right ahead!
Dear mungeondaster,
Hey, there are no dumb ideas when it comes to new Ace Attorney content, as far as Iām concerned.Ā The visual novel with Pearl and spinoff with Franziska von Karma stuck out the most to me as things the fanbase would enjoy the most.Ā You could even give players the option to use her whip on whomever they please for fun (much like Link does with his weapons).Ā The other ideas sound like Flash games youād find on an Ace Attorney website, but I'd still love to see them fleshed out.Ā Rhythm action games are my jam.
(Previous Letter)
Dear jnv11,
You know, I never realized the similarity between those two organizations before now.Ā I imagine NASA still exists as a separate entity, though, so Iām leaving the letter as it is.
Dear Anonymous,
I wasnāt aware that Holmsieās name had been changed to something else in the (supposedly) upcoming American release, but Iāll probably keep his and every other characterās name the same.Ā For one thing, changing their names would cause confusion for anyone searching for them by their hashtags, plus, like you said, weāre all familiar with the fan translation names by now.Ā Itās your own fault, Capcom.
Dear Fortune Cookie,
(Previous Post)
Dear Modthorne,
Thank youuuuuu!!!
Iād love to have you back, especially now that Iām taking a leave of absence.Ā It just hasnāt been the same here without...
...
...
...
...
...
Um...Ā Can you all give us a moment?
Dear Anonymous,
Our Christmas ideaās already in motion (*wink, wink*), but that sounds like a fun idea.Ā If Matthew Taranto made it work with Mario, then why not Edgeworth?Ā Gumshoe could easily play Bob Cratchit, and Manfred von Karma would make a good ghost of Jacob Marley, but who would the three spirits be?Ā Iāll leave that up to you.
Say, would it be going too far to include Professor Layton characters?Ā I canāt think of anyone who could pull off Tiny Tim better than Luke Triton.
Dear skibot99,
We donāt usually start working on holiday ideas until a month in advance (at most), but Iām always open to suggestions, so thank you for those ones.Ā If Iām still around next April Foolsā Day, I might just try one of them out.
Dear Palbert (Sorry, I couldnāt resist),
Youāve got that right, Palbert.Ā Iām amazed weāve been able to keep it going this long as well.Ā I repeat myself, but itās thanks to submitters like you that weāre able to!

Whether we end up getting another installment in the series or not, Iām just glad we have the current games to enjoy and re-enjoy.Ā I played through the first case again with my parents recently, and it was a fun time for all of us.
Dear mungeondaster again,
I imagine Franziskaās older sibling being a sister who competes with her to be their Papaās favorite child, as well as the most perfect prosecutor in the von Karma family (similar to her rivalry with Edgeworth).Ā In terms of personality, I see her behaving somewhat more refined than Franziska, while insisting that she grow up in her own subtle way (which is also a lot like Edgeworth).
Franziskaās niece has actually been a subject on this blog for a while now.Ā I love the idea of her being aĀ āperfect little nieceā to whom Franziska talks sweetly, and for whom she attempts to provide better coaching than her sister does.Ā Her being calledĀ āAunt Franzyā and getting thoroughly irritated by it is also too much fun to imagine.
Dear Matt,
Iām honestly not sure what to say to that, except thanks!Ā I majored in computer science, but all the research Iāve done for Emaās responses has come from the internet, not any scientific studying on my part.Ā I donāt know how I pulled off sounding so smart, but Iām glad it worked out that way.
With that in mind, thank you for trusting us, but donāt be afraid to check another source for anything we (or the characters) say.Ā Thatās what the experts do, after all.Ā ...I think.
Dear snowthefirst,
Co-Mod: Unfortunately, I checked the inbox and my stash of deleted letters and didnāt see that letter among them, which either means it was deleted by accident or Tumblr ate it.Ā Feel free to resubmit it, and Iāll answer it and stick it in the queue.
