im becoming the designated sunday craft person which i like bc i love being paid to just do crafts for 2 hours AND i like doing crafts AND its making me get better at interacting with kids. im still awkward but im also just an awkward person in general so i feel like im becoming less Uniquely Awkward Around Children because of this

#it is kinda like. wah #bc sometimes the parenfs butt in and are like. hey My Child why dont you do your painting like this instead #which is like. what my #job is supposed to be ?? so like #i feel bad bc theyre doing my #job for me im just sitting there in silencd then #BUT ALSO LIKE - i just feel lke i dont have theright to dictate how the kids do their crafts #i’ll give them pointers on basic techniques like. dont wet your brush as much if you want the paint to go on thicker!#but im not gonna be like. WHY ARE YOU PAINTING THE PUMPKIN RED #like idk. they can paint whatever they want i dont care #who am i to stifle a kid’s Creative Vision …#i also help out directly if theres something challenging they cant rlly do on their own like cutting out precise shapes or tracing a cutout #for some reason the kids are also tentative about pouring paint themselves so they often ask me to do it for them #but once im done with that i hand the reigns back over #brot posts #this one kid today saw my rock and said it looked like some monster out of a kids cartoon #who would say EY IM WALKIN HERE and i was like. does my rock also have a new york accent?#and he was like YEAH #like sorry its so funny 😭
