Atlanta’s Deathcore prodigies Left To Suffer have been making quite the name for themselves in such a short space of time! This only being their second album, they’ve already shown they can throw a damn strong punch. I’m excited to see what they’ve done with this one.
Title track “Feral” sets the bar extraordinarily high, with that creepy eerie Korn sounding synth sounds teeing them up for those crushing screams and growls backed with a crisp crunchy clean backing, the chorus has group clean but solemn vocals making way for Taylor Barber to come through with a sermon of aggression. They have Kim Dracula join them for “Artificial Anatomy”, that bass tone alone is cause for celebration nevermind the fact vocals sound like a toxic lava demon melting it’s way up from hell, makes for some interesting faces. The minute I saw Fit For An Autopsy’s vocalist Joe Badolato’s name against “Primative Urge”, I knew it would be a reaaaally brutal song, and what do you know it is, but it’s also very methodical in its approach to eerie atmospheric sounds to back it up. Whilst they’re absolute brutal and skull crushing, it’s the little symphonic elements and twisted evil story telling through suspenseful build ups that really takes them to the next level, try “Illusion of Sleep” if you don’t believe me. Closer “Consistent Suffering” makes more great use of the group vocals and had this clangy funky interlude before a thunderous breakdown which really does add a layer of excitement and intrigue to the track. I’m sorry but it’s “Dissappint Me” that takes the gold for me, absolute carnage in its purist form, spot on crisp and sharp growls and screams, barrage of heavy riffs and beats, lyrics spitting like venom, one whopper of a sleazy drop giving it a strong groove, I can almost feel the dopamine trying to get out of my skull.
This is one ridiculously heavy album, I’m beyond impressed. The way they’ve stuck to what they do best at heart but have been able to experiment and play around with it, it has paid off. I am now exponentially more excited now for Impericon Never Say Die Tour this month!!

Kristala is a dark fantasy, souls-like, action RPG being developed in Unreal Engine 5 that takes place in the world of Ailur. Five hundred years ago, six crystals collided with the planet, introducing strange magic unknown to the numerous animal denizens of the world. The creatures of Ailur grew larger, smarter, and with time formed unique and complex cultures. With this new mysterious power and sapience came conflict as well. It is at this intersection of two species, the Anagativa and the Kotakaya, and their struggle for survival, that the story of Kristala begins.
We couldn’t be more excited to feature such powerful people as the monstrous voices of our carefully crafted creatures. Keep a look out for sneak peaks of their work, character design, and much more as we continue to develop Kristala. Stay metal!

Fit for an Autopsy - The Sea of Tragic Beasts
Tumblr media
Fit for an Autopsy’s gradual melodic sophistication of their otherwise standard, yet convincing, brand of deathcore has been a smart revelation for the band and came to a head two years ago when the genre’s biggest figure (Suicide Silence) made a far more ill-fated attempt to integrate melodic, clean vocals into their sound, with Fit for an Autopsy providing the excellent and well-thought-out The Great Collapse as stark contrast. I’m not here to shit on Suicide Silence two years after their hardest year though. Fit for an Autopsy took evident cues from Gojira’s Magma on their 2017 effort, and songs like “Black Mammoth” and “Heads Will Hang” we’re all the better for it, but on The Sea of Tragic Beasts, Fit for an Autopsy are finding their own way with melody as it relates to deathcore.
The band’s soaring new approach to clean vocal melody makes its grand entrance on the glorious chorus of the opening title track as vocalist Joe Badolato laments the impending environmental collapse in bold, raw, heartfelt sorrow, inviting all to “fall in the fire with me” with clearly, powerfully mournful passion. And and the band is certainly not taking the day off during the verses or breakdown either as they do all their can to inject palpable hardcore gusto into the more traditional deathcore section of their performance. The groovy double-bass-laden deathcore banger “No Man Is Without Fear” keeps the energy, and while the band don’t lean on as cathartic of a vocal melody on this track, the djent-influenced eight-stringed groove provides plenty of vibrant energy to sustain the album’s strong early momentum, which is carried onto the faster, thrashy “Shepherd”, on which Badolato lashes out at the class elites’ negligence toward the world that future generations will have to inhabit. It’s a good start for the band, and they showcase plenty of versatility with their newfound melodic tendencies without exhausting all their creativity too early.
The band reach for heavy, ethereal heights through soaring cleans again on “Your Pain Is Mine”, with not quite as much success as the title track. The band go for a slower, more brooding build on the song “Mirrors”, which sees their Gojira influences sticking out a bit again during the intro and it’s reprise as Badolato injects some melodicism into his low deathcore growls as the band cruise through thick, Magma-esque atmosphere until the speedy deathcore kicks in. The modern metallic hardcore influence on “Unloved” produces probably the most intense breakdown in the entire album before the band return to their melodic dabbling on the very alternative-metal-influenced “Mourn”, which the band still manages to pack plenty of impassioned deathcore heaviness into around in within the open-armed mourning. The level of intensity Fit for an Autopsy are able to maintain deep into the album (with “Your Pain Is Mine” being an arguable breather) is impressive, and their integration of melody is clearly purposeful and beneficial rather than simply gimmicky or imitative.
The band clock in a more standard, traditional deathcore ripper with “Warfare” before dropping the mammoth sludge of “Birds of Prey”, on which Badolato again uses some melody on his low growl to provide a menacing and golliathian roar to lift his bandmates’ pulverizing instrumentation to more grandiose heights. While the band at this point on the album have kind of shown all the cards in their hand, it doesn’t negate the pure impact of the aggression of their performances and the proficiency they’ve developed with both their more old-school and their more modern melodic variations on deathcore.
The band go for an emotive closer driven by the cleanly sung “Eden is a funeral pyre” and “All I wanted was a way out” on the bleak and desperate prayers for change on the heavy, yet contemplative fade-out of “Napalm Dreams”. It’s definitely not as high-octane as the majority of what precedes it, serving as more of a meditative conclusion than another of several punchy deathcore bangers.
From the very start of the album, Fit for an Autopsy looked keen to outdo themselves in elegant fashion, and they certainly followed through with the most evolved album of their career, and one of the most emotive and urgent deathcore records to date. I do think there is still room for improvement, as the band could still work on more consistently applying the wild hardcore edge that shows itself occasionally on this album, or even developing more unique ways to approach deathcore heaviness, as this album’s more traditional sections are mostly carried solely by the sheer power of the band’s performances. The Sea of Tragic Beasts is certainly a leaping stride forward for a band already quite ahead of the pack behind them, and I hope Fit for an Autopsy can keep their creative form strong and continue to build on the indeed firm, elevated foundation they’ve set for themselves on this album.

Last week we unfortunately missed the deadline to add a new post to the segment “Track of the Day Tuesday”.  So today, in order to make up for last week, we have two tracks that you absolutely need to check out!
The first track you should give a listen to today is Fit For An Autopsy’s “Black Mammoth”.  Fit For An Autopsy is a band that I have recognized for years as one of the greatest modern deathcore bands.  Their profound lyricism and bone-crushing riffs and breakdowns have separated Fit For An Autopsy (FFAA) from the average modern deathcore band.  That being said, my standards for any material released by FFAA is extremely high, especially after their third full length record, “Absolute Hope, Absolute Hell”, was a very subpar follow up to one of greatest deathcore albums ever to be released, “Hellbound”.  So, when Fit For An Autopsy released “The Great Collapse” last Friday, my skepticism for whether or not FFAA will be able to redeem themselves was very high.  To my surprise, however, they greatly surpassed these expectations, and the track, “Black Mammoth”, was one of the leading factors that influenced this positive impression.
“Black Mammoth” is a track that discusses the vast negative impact of the Dakota Access Pipeline and how the destruction of the environment for various, insignificant reasons in situations similar to the Dakota Access Pipeline case study are not only drastic and inhumane towards those who live in these areas, but they also directly result in negative and irreversible consequences that affect all humans and inhabitants of this planet.  Even though FFAA is known for their remarkable lyricism, I was still pleasantly shocked to see them discuss such a significant topic in one of their tracks.  Not only is it rare that Fit For An Autopsy will discuss environmental issues in their music, but it is also extremely rare for environmental issues to be mentioned in metal music period!  Using their platform and limited space on their fourth full length album to discuss this prominent issue that we face today on a daily basis has caused my respect for Fit For An Autopsy to grow immensely.  Lyricism and lyrical message set aside, the instrumentation heard on “Black Mammoth” is easily the best performance on the entire record.  The melodic, yet still heavy riffs intertwine perfectly with Joe Badolato’s great vocal delivery, resulting in both a successful track and a record that surpasses its predecessor greatly.  Today you need to give this New Jersey based deathcore band a listen starting with the music video for “Black Mammoth” attached below.
The only thing more polarizing than extreme metal is ambient and soothing, soundscape filled electronic music.  After you have listened to the brutally heavy track that is “Black Mammoth” you should listen to the simply relaxing track “Morning” by TREEREFLECTION.  TREEREFLECTION is yet another fantastic artist represented by the successful Chilean vaporwave label, No Problema Tapes.  TREEREFLECTION, like the other well known artists on No Problema Tapes, writes primarily in atmospheric ambient music that heavily relies on the use of soundscapes and various pads.  What makes TREEREFLECTION stand out amongst the other No Problema artists is the incorporation of samples of sounds heard in nature and even slight but noticeable beats that help give “Morning” an electronic music vibe.  This style of songwriting is soothing, relaxing, stress relieving, and in my opinion, helps greatly with focusing on work.  I unfortunately could not find a stream of the song “Morning” individually, so instead I’ve attached the entire album, “Overcast” below.  Without a doubt, “Morning”, along with any other track heard on “Overcast”, is something you need to listen to today.
Even though “Morning” and “Black Mammoth” are two completely different songs, they are both “The Track of the Day Tuesday” and you absolutely need to give them a listen.  Whether it’s the genre defining song writing or even the impactful lyrical content on “Black Mammoth”, or the relaxing, blissfulness of “Morning”, it’s fair to say that these tracks are phenomenal and easily the two songs you should listen to today.  Check our past “Track of the Day Tuesday” installments to see what other songs we recommend you listen to, and of course, let us know what tracks you think should be featured on future “Track of the Day Tuesday” posts!
