“Who Is The Holy Spirit?” Devotional. Day 3 - “Jesus Promised to Give You the Holy Spirit” By Switch (Life.Church):
“Can you imagine trying to send a group text using pen, paper, and the post office? Imagine writing out letters by hand to your five closest friends, buying stamps, stuffing envelopes, and mailing them to five different addresses. After waiting for two or three days, the letters would start arriving at your friends’ houses. Then, each would respond with a letter of their own, making copies for each person in the group and waiting a few more days for each reply. Whew! I’m exhausted just thinking about it. It seems silly since you can accomplish the same thing in a few seconds using your smartphone.
The Holy Spirit works sort of like that. He makes it possible for Jesus to communicate with every single one of His followers in real time across the globe. Jesus could only be in one place at a time. His first disciples didn’t know much about the Holy Spirit or His purpose. That’s why Jesus spent His last days on earth preparing them for His death. They didn’t know He was about to die, and they certainly didn’t understand why. So, instead of trying to dump His entire plan on them all at once, He made them a promise.
He said that when He left He’d send someone else in His place—the Holy Spirit. Jesus wasn’t saying that they would be trading their relationship with Him in exchange for the Spirit. Instead, the Holy Spirit would come alongside them and help them understand everything Jesus had taught. Plus, the Holy Spirit could teach them new things as they learned to hear His voice.
When the Holy Spirit came, He would lead them to the truth. He wouldn’t have His own agenda, but He would be totally committed to completing Jesus’ mission on earth. In fact, the Holy Spirit would do everything to bring honor to Jesus. He would relay messages straight from Jesus into the hearts and minds of all His followers. But, here’s the best news of all: That promise wasn’t just for the disciples who were sitting around that night. It was also for you!
Think about how that changed the game. Before Jesus gave us access to the Holy Spirit, Jesus was the single source of information, and He was limited to physically being in one place at a time. He had to spread His message one crowd at a time. But, when the Holy Spirit made His home in the heart of every believer, Jesus’ message was engraved into our hearts.
Now, without cell towers or smartphones, the Holy Spirit can speak directly into our hearts and minds. Tomorrow, we’ll begin to explore His amazing power that’s available to us any time or place.”

Despite the ungodliness of this wicked world I hope that I live to die old. I have no tolerance for corruption especially when I see and know that it's going on and I can take myself away from it. I'm the type that's gone speak against it. I guess you can say that I'm bold. That's like my Savior who flipped over tables when these religious folks were disrespecting his Father's house (John 2:13-17).
I want to get put out of any assembly that's called by God's name but doesn't truly dessire God's word (John 16:2). I want to be found in the scriptures. I want to be found holy in God's word (John 15:18-19).
They say that the good dies young, so I wonder currently if I'll grow old. I'm glad that I'm saved, but I'm also glad that I have a safe soul. 🙏
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.- Luke 12:4‭-‬5

The difference between happiness and the joy of the Lord
Jesus never promised us happiness, on the contrary, He said:
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
John 16:33 ampc
Happiness is a feeling based on circumstances. Feelings are fleeting and never remain on the same level. The joy which surpass human understanding we are promised is a deep seated joy that is never affected by circumstances.
But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].

Joy is a gift of the Holy Spirit. To get this joy we must let the Holy Spirit transform us and submit to God by obeying the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ and dwell in Him:
Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:56‭-‬57 NIV

We are overcomers cos Jesus himself has overcome death! Through faith in Him we also have the victory. Help us, my dear Lord! We cannot save ourselves.
Journeying with Jesus 40 days lent devotional
All circumstances pointed to the fact that the death of Jesus was imminent. Even Jesus himself said so! Judas feared for his future and he feared for his life. The new kingdom that he was expecting Jesus to usher in was disintegrating. He focused on the power of the rulers, instead of dwelling on the power of the One who delineated authority to those rulers. He allowed the tangible to edge out the eternal.
Where is my focus today? What motivates my actions? Is it fear of man or faith in God? Am I willing to put everything on the line for Jesus or am I towing the line for earthly authorities?

“What does it mean to choose joy, no matter the circumstances?”
“On the night before He died, Jesus shared a final meal and conversation with His disciples. What was Jesus concerned about as He prepared to leave those He loved?
In John 14–16 we read that Jesus comforted His disciples and encouraged them to not be troubled. He also taught them to abide. Apart from Jesus they could do nothing.
And then Jesus explained why He was telling them all these things. He said, “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).
Jesus was concerned about our joy.
As I write these words right now, my eyes brim with tears. Love so amazing, so divine! At the height of His own agony, Jesus desired my joy and yours. It’s unbelievable, isn’t it? For the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2).
And Jesus wasn’t hoping for us to have a little bit of happiness. He wants us to have fullness of joy—overflowing, abundant. Our joy matters to Jesus.
Jesus is the source of our joy, and He’s the sustainer of it. Apart from Him, our lives are made up of empty, meaningless attempts to find satisfaction. We wander, desperately thirsty until we drink from Him. He’s the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. Every good gift is from His hand, and nothing good exists apart from Him. Our desire for joy is ultimately a desire for Jesus.
In Philippians, we see genuine joy. Joy begins with salvation and increases as we experience true fellowship, understand Christ’s lordship, partake in Christ’s humility, and obey God’s Word. As we grow in faith, our desires change. We long to know Jesus. We place our hope in heavenly joys rather than earthly circumstances. We pray with thanksgiving rather than fret with anxiety. We give generously to further the work of the gospel.
Just as Paul learned the secret of being content in plenty and in need, as we grow in our dependence on God, we bloom into women of joy.
My final words to you reflect my deepest desire for you: Don’t stop studying God’s Word. Abide in God, pray to Him, seek Him continually.
May His joy be in you, and may it be full.”

“He Chose Us” By Maryann Lorts:
“God chose us. From the foundation of the earth, His created beings were chosen in love. We are made in His image.
In our own will, we choose to break the family ties. In our ways, we walk the easy path out the front door towards worldly treasures and feelings.

The joy that He brought us forth in doesn’t seem to rope us in. What is joy without comfort, popularity, and material possessions? Him just loving us doesn’t always seem enough. It hasn’t appeared to ever have been with so many people turning their backs to faith. The world binds us in and we lean into a love affair with it.
“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” —John 15:19 (NIV)
The Lord is committed to us. He has been so before we even took our first breath. When He adopted us into His family He stood in faithfulness to the care of His loved ones. We are to be blameless and walk as royalty reflecting an eternal kingdom. Instead, we scoff and mock. We want ease.
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will…” —Ephesians 1:4‭-‬5 (NIV)
He has so much in store for us. Grand opportunities that we could never imagine are waiting in the wings. A life of ease may never see us to a path of righteousness, but a life of hope in faith will point us the one who will be our guide
Deeds without the Lord will never grant us eternal favors. Instead, choosing to commit to the truth will bring us back home. We can bear fruit that lasts forever. He will bless us in abundance.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” —John 15:16 (NIV)
There are rewards lying ahead. They await us in eternity. Rely on the truth of our faith knowing that we are chosen for more than what this world offers. We would do well to attach to the truth of the gospel than to what the world projects as favor.”
