Tagged by @gritkitty. Rules: pick any 10 of your fics, scroll somewhere to the mid point, pick a line (or three), and share it! then tag 10 people.
My takeaway from this exercise is that I write a fuckton of h/c and a fuckton of dialogue, but it’s fun to write bantery h/c, dammit!
Tagging @angryonabus @chocolatepot @cinnaluminum @clarasteam @glassmirrormask @leupagus @likerealpeopledo-on-ao3 @missgeevious @newnewyorker93 @whetherwoman and anyone else who wants to play!
Cabin Pressure, “Contents May Have Shifted”
There was a very squashed moment or two of silence.
"Arthur," Martin said. "Why have you stuffed me into the locker?"
Doctor Who, “Afterburn”
Jack laughed. "Hello yourself," he managed, and then he couldn't help it, he ran at the Doctor and swept him up in a violent, crushing hug, his Doctor after all this time, all this time, all this time.
Generation Kill, “Feel Like I’m Fixin to Die”
“Hey, I’ve had plenty of visions that don’t involve my own dick,” Ray says. “I’m having one right now about Sixta’s dick, plowing you hard up the ass, and you are loving it, too.” He throws a leg over Espera’s and starts humping him. “Comply with this grooming standard, bitch.”
John Finnemore’s Double Acts, “A Friend in Need”
“Oh, no,” said Bunning, shocked into sincerity. “My dear fellow. You mustn’t think I minded that. I’m a poor enough nursemaid, but even so. Glad to help out. Really I am.” He’d felt, in fact, an aching tenderness toward Søndergaard in his vulnerability—he felt it still, a knot of swelling tension in his chest that didn’t seem to belong anywhere but that he didn’t know how to put down. It would wear off, he supposed, in time.
Life on Mars, “Shot”
He couldn't unsee it, try as he might: the way Sam's face at rest had looked almost pretty, the smoothness of his skin laid out over hard muscle and bone. How could you see something like that and not want to touch it? He'd wanted to curl himself around the damaged body of Sam Tyler, like a hard shell over something soft.
Love and Rockets, “Hopeless”
Every now and then, though, not always, there’s a way Maggie has of making her feel all liquidy and achy-tender at the core. There’s no telling what might set it off: the sound of her laugh, or the way she sticks her tongue out a little when she’s working with her hands, fixing something, or the stupid open trusting expression on her face when she looks up at Hopey all of a sudden. It makes Hopey want to grab her hand and just run somewhere with her, anywhere, everywhere.
Our Flag Means Death, “Happily Ever After”
“Black Beard,” said Stede, thoughtfully. “No, I’ve not heard of him. Fierce fellow?”
“Really desperate character, yeah,” said Lucius. “Such an asshole. Throw you overboard soon as look at you, for no reason whatsoever.”
“And he’ll never quit paying for it, will he,” Ed muttered. “God help the poor soul.”
Schitt’s Creek, “Strange Brew”
“But you’re really hot,” David said, surprised. “You wouldn’t want to fuck yourself? I’d totally fuck me if I weren’t me.”
“Uh huh,” Patrick said, in an and there you go tone of voice.
The Watchmaker of Filigree Street, “Fetish” [NB the tentacles in question are NOT KATSU’S I would never]
It felt like being gently and cleverly rearranged at the circuit level, as if he were one of Mori’s creations, responding helplessly to the watchmaker’s intimate manipulations. The tentacles pulsed, thickened and thinned, curled and twisted and delved; there were so many of them now, so relentless, so deep— Thaniel sobbed out a cry of wordless ecstasy, and shook, and shook, and shook.
What We Do in the Shadows (2014), “Thirst Aid”
Not that he wanted a relationship with a werewolf. Not even a very kind and funny one with freckled eyelids and warm, strong arms and the most enticing little dimple when he smiled. Yuck. Disgusting.

Sixta: So this mission would be-
Sixta, sees Pappy and suddenly bellows at the top of his lungs: PATRICK
Everyone in a 50 meter radius, flinches violently. Ray stumbles into a random ranger grave, Brad chokes on his tooth brush, Q-tip and Christeson climb onto their humvee, while Captain America falls backwards out of his humvee.
Sixta, deadly calm: Just shave your mustache off, okay sergeant.
Pappy, shocked: Okay...

Omg tho but imagine the pacific and bob boys let loose in a gen kill situation? Like the same characters from TP and bob together with gen kill just setting fire on everything is making me lose my mind... who's gonna take one for the team and write crossover headcanons
There are two ways this can go and ooh boy am I here for both or what?! I don’t want to write a whole crossover but I can start y’all off no problem before I go back to my actual writing for today, haha.
Option One: Time Travel Shenanigans
This is like, the option that would produce the maximum amount of fuckery? None of these guys are used to modern warfare (night vision goggles! satellite maps! endless spying possibilities! Nixon is probably crying with relief) and that’d be the biggest hurdle there. I feel so bad for the BoB guys in this scenario because they’re army and TP/GK guys do not have time for the army in any way (unless they have batteries/better food, which is usually the case? lol) and so there’d be Constant Complaining about the BoB dudes. Then again, the GK dudes are always getting hammered for their lack of grooming standards and lemme tell ya? The TP guys have never heard of grooming standards a day in their lives (not you, Hillbilly, we’re thrilled to have you here and you’re the only one who’d pass inspection) and I can just imagine the little rage-twitch Sixta would have every time he passed H Company.
I’m also just filled with so much joy/schadenfreude at the possibility of putting Sobel in the vicinity of Brad and Ray, you have no idea. I mean, they’ve got Captain America screaming down their comms already and adding Sobel’s panic factor into that would be comedic gold. Also, Doc Bryan’s very unfiltered commentary is just everything Lip needs in his life. I’m also just imagining Nate with Winters and Haldane, like goddamn the sheer amount of competence would be overwhelming?? (Do not put Snafu and Sledge anywhere near Trombley. First mention of shooting a dog and Sledge is gonna Lose It while Snaf, for once in his life, lowkey tries to prevent a murder.)
Option Two: TP/BoB Fellas In Modern Setting
This will provide less culture clashes than the first option but oh my, just imagining a universe in which the BoB/TP guys grew up in our time and probably enlisted straight out of high school and/or post-9/11 is sending me into a spiral of feelings. I mean, putting these guys in a modern setting is tricky because they are partially a product of the time they lived in but it’s fascinating to think about how they would be if they’d grown up in the here and now..
You’ve got uprooted might-as-well-not-have-a-family kids like Leckie and Nix joining up and finding a home in the chaotic arms of their company. You’ve got videogame-addicted kids like, hm, Skip and Runner maybe, joining up with more cynical high-school dropouts like Hoos and Liebgott. You’ve got Roe and Snafu hailing from the same patchwork family and to mess with one of them is to mess with the other. You’ve got Ray running his mouth at a nodding Talbert all day long while Jay de l’Eau is spelling out his name to Reporter for the fifteenth time, Chuckler is joining forces with Q-Tip and Christeson, Malarkey is finding mentorship in Brad, and John “I will fuck your shit up don’t try me” Basilone is now under the protective wing of one Gunny Wynn without even knowing it following a rather disastrous encounter with Encino Man.

Gen Kill Reactions: Hannah is a Walking Sin
So I found out today that @ghostyroses has NEVER SEEN GEN KILL which, in my humble opinion, is a national travesty. So, naturally, I sent her pictures of the boys and let her guess who the hell they are. I’m impressed.
Title courtesy of Hannah
Me: Lololol I love it! If you're free now I can send you pics of all the characters I can remember.
Hannah: *rubbing hands together* LET'S DO IT
Me: Oh my god okay, here we go. Let me get my arsenal of pictures ready.
Hannah: *puts military helmet on*
Brad Colbert
Hannah: He's cute, I really like his eyes.
Okay, he looks like a Charles or even a "Charlie". I also like his lips, they look kissable
Me: He is very kissable, haha
Ray Person
Hannah: Okay, I know that's Ray Persons from all the gifsets I've seen on Tumblr.
He looks like trouble though
Like illegal trouble
Me: Yay!!!!! He is my sinnamon roll
Gabe Garza
Hannah: He looks like the kind of guy that makes sarcastic jokes. He also looks like trouble but not illegal trouble lol
I'm gonna guess his name is James????
He has James vibes
Me: Hes a baby and I love him 😁
Definitely not James lol
1/3 so far
James Trombley
Hannah: Aw, he looks cute. Like Burgin kind of cute
Is he like a really sweet guy cause that's what I'm getting
At least I know his name is Trombley from his uniform 😂
His first name looks like a Tom
Me: Oh boy
Hannah: Oh no
Me: Alright moving on
Evan Wright
Hannah: He looks like he's a dad
Like he already has kids
Wait, is he a reporter or something??? Like I think I've seen him on Tumblr too
He looks like a Mark
Me: Ooooooo like half a point for Hannah 😆
Hannah: Yay! At least that's something
Me: Exactly
Tony “Poke” Espera
Hannah: He. Looks. Intense.
Like Joe Toye intense
I can't think of a name because his face is only telling "danger"
He's a Rambo
Me: Lolololololololol I'm dyinggggg
That is the most accurate description you've given
Jason Lilley
Hannah: He looks like a Brit
Like he could fit in with the royal family
Um, I'm guessing his name is like Will or something
Me: That's fair
Hannah: Also those lips are juicy
Walt Hasser
Hannah: Oh gosh I love his jaw
He looks like a cinnamon roll
Um... His name is Bryan????
Im just staring at his jaw. Just wow
Me: Hes too pure for this world. He could bring peace to everyone
Rudy Reyes
Hannah: Hm... He looks bland... Like the guy who doesn't like pepperoni on his pizza
Um... His name is David???
Or Bruce
He's a Bruce
He's got Bruce vibes
Me: Oh my god I should've put a shirtless pic
Hold on
Hannah: Shirtless pic 👀👀👀
I like a guy with abs
Me: Well that's good for the both of us because this guy is only abs
Hannah: HOLY SHIT
Me: Same guy in both pics hahaha
Hes a BABE
Hannah: I can't think of a name because HIS PECKS ARE GOING PLACES
His arms are also heavenly
Me: AMEN
He really is perfect
Alright next guy
Anthony “Manimal” Jacks
Hannah: He looks like the kind of guy who would step in front of a car in a New York accent "im WaLkInG hErE!" Or he's a cowboy
Me: Hahahaha, I love how theres no in between
One of those is right
Mike “Gunny” Wynn
Hannah: I can hear his voice say "what the fuck" like all the time
He looks like a decent guy
Me: That's pretty accurate
Hannah: His name is Zack
Me: Not so accurate lolol but I love it
Hannah: Or Johnathan
Evan “Q-Tip” Stafford
Hannah: He's giving me Talbert vibes
Me: It's the lip pulling thing right
Hannah: Again, decent yet funny guy
Me: Hes my idiot husband and I love him
Hannah: Ok, I guess you called dibs on him I see
Tim “Doc” Bryan
Me: YUP
This one too
Hannah: He looks like my dad but younger
I'm not joking, he looks like my dad if he was 30 and buff
So his name is David, cause that's my dad's name
Me: Oh my god 🙃 hahahaahaha
Craig “Encino Man” Schwetje
Hannah: Again, a tense guy. Looks like he wants to deck someone
His name is Austin
I knew an Austin that reminds me of his dude
Me: I feel like Austin would be a good name for him. That's an apt description
Hannah: Well that's good I guess lol
Dave “Captain America” McGraw
Hannah: He's a toehead
He also looks sad
Like he needs more friends
Me:
Toe head is a perfect nickname for him
Hannah: I got that right?!
I'm not going to guess his name bc I don't want to screw up 😂
Me: You got it fairly right. He is a definite toehead
John Sixta
Hannah: He looks like a high school gym teacher that everyone is scared of
Me: Accurate af
Hannah: 😂🤣
He would be like "it's dodgeball time! time to die!"
And everyone is trying to run away from him
Because he is hella scary
Me: That's perfect
Stephen “Godfather” Ferrando
Hannah: He has no lips
not juicy enough
He's not Gucci gang
He seems like a nice white guy though
He probably has some Starbucks girlfriend or something
Me: Oh my god Hannah 😂
Hannah: What I'm just telling my truth🤣
Me: I just, I can't hahahaha

Hannah: You better post this on Tumblr because this was so much fun
And I will!!!
Round of applause for Hannah everyone. She actually did pretty good!!!

Horror Literature from Gothic to Post-Modern: Critical Essays, edited by Michele Brittany and Nicholas Diak, McFarland, 2020. Cover image by Shutterstock, info: mcfarlandbooks.com.
From shambling zombies to Gothic ghosts, horror has entertained thrill-seeking readers for centuries. A versatile literary genre, it offers commentary on societal issues, fresh insight into the everyday and moral tales disguised in haunting tropes and grotesque acts, with many stories worthy of critical appraisal. This collection of new essays takes in a range of topics, focusing on historic works such as Ann Radcliffe’s Gaston de Blondeville (1826) and modern novels including Max Brooks’ World War Z. Other contributions examine weird fiction, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Indigenous Australian monster mythology and horror in picture books for young children.
