I was having a weird thought about how shocking it must have been for Gillion or Finn to come to the surface for the first time in their lives and just...start breathing through a respiratory system they literally NEVER used before in their life. Think abt it. Gill was 22 yrs old, and in these 22 yrs of his life he probably didn't even spare a thought that he has lungs. Which is wild. Triton lungs must be in some sort of dormant state until the point of them breaching the surface of the water, kinda like the infant in the womb. Cause when a baby is being born, their lungs are filled with fluid and are partially collapsed since they are not needed, oxygen being supplied through the connection to the mother. And Tritons kinda have the same, with the gills doing the lungs' work. So what happens next to the newborn, is that the organism has to make major adjustments to their entire ass body, including changing parts of the cardiovascular system, getting rid of the fluid in the lungs immediately and expanding them within seconds to encourage that first dramatic breath. And dare I say that it all seems pretty stressful. I imagine similar thing happening to Tritons too. Maybe not the same way as the baby, but there has to be excess water for example that would fill their unused lungs, so I imagine their first breach involving coughing it all out and making efforts to stimulate breathing from an entirely new apparatus. Oh, and another thing is that newborn humans are very poorly asjusted to the change in temperature of the enviornment compared to the womb, with very few ways to combat that, and I kinda visualize the same for Tritons. Did you ever have this thing that when you swim in a pool or the sea for too long, you get used to the water's temperature so much that it feels like the surface air is much colder than the water around? Tritons might experience a similar feeling. Finn probably came prepared, if not with the means to help the process, than at least the knowledge of what's happening, but Gill? I imagine him spending the first few hours in the oversea chocking on air and struggling to wheeze out first breaths in panic, just laying there on the water's surface trying to adjust. The conclusions to this I guess, would be that changing your enviornment in such a drastic way takes a lot of bravery and I applaud Finn for it, and wish that Gillion had the chance to make the same choice on better terms, instead of being forced into the unknown like that, in hopes that it would kill him, or whatever the Elders' thought process might have been. Truthfully there was not much more point to this post than my genuine curiosity about how could that whole thing work, and my attempt to imagine it.

Well boys, time for a new Theory after episode 115 dropped
This one is gonna focus on Chip and a bit of the original version of the Prophecy
Warning of spoilers and unhinged thought process, read at your own risk
For this post imma be focusing on a line from the Prophecy. Which would be:
"The seal remains locked by a Key of Divinity"
So I ask you:
How does Chip know Celestial?
Why was he Welcomed Home in that place?
What is the secret of himself that not even he knows?
He is the key. It's why in the one shot, Chip being grabbed was specifically mentioned. Why Niklaus felt the need to make a deal with Chip that would land him directly in the Hole in the Sea.
Now, fair warning, I do believe that Niklous would be fully aware of such a moment and set the board for this eventually. The why is the only thing I am uncertain about, I have my thoughts but that's a theory for another time.
He was Welcomed Home because that was where he would always end up, it was the place he would always find his way to. You could even say, it was the place he was Destined to be.
Now, here is where it all gets a bit more nuanced...
I believe there to always have been someone who was a Key of Divinity. When the last dies, a new one is born. (Basically an Avatar situation)
However the reason it is only just now happening is because it's only now that the stars have aligned to allow whatever has been locked away to be unleashed.
The key has always been born on a different plane, whatever was locked away was not strong enough in it's prison to reach out for the key, and it hadn't been arms reach.
Until Chip.
Chip has been the first to meet all the qualifications. And Niklous nudged Captain Rose to head that way for their last Journey, for Chip to get grabbed. However there was unexpected interruptions, in the form of Arlin, Drey, and Finn.
So Niklous would have to rearrange the board to get Chip once again where he needed to be.
And now he is.
And it may be too late.

my favorite dumb personal headcanon is that finn tidestrider and specifically the elder triton have beef. none of the elders like him very much-- he's one of the most intelligent and widely recognized/respected names in the entire undersea, and he:
isn't religious in any way, shape, or form (alongside the rest of his family)
never married, but had a son later in life, that many people believe was the result of some kind of affair (of course, nothing was ever PROVEN)
had a blatant disregard for not only societal norms, but all the supposed "dangers" life outside of the capital had-- and frequently poked holes in their logic, especially in regards to the oversea
AND finn and his bastard son are the grandfather and father of the fucking chosen one. because of course they are. so yeah. the elders don't like him. but finn and the elder triton, for whatever fucking reason, have BEEF. why? no one knows. they hate finn's autistic swag.
