If there’s one thing anyone can count on the universe for, it’s Juno talking down to you for one thing or another. Having grown up hovering around the poverty line for her entire life, she feels like she has something to prove to everyone, and she goes about this by desperately attempting to assert her superiority over people as much as she can. Snide remarks, undermining people's accomplishments, and snapping at people for doing little more than breathe at her the wrong way are common tactics in her arsenal. Everything she says is said from behind a condescending snarl. You never leave a conversation with Juno feeling better about yourself.

It’s all a prickly front, though. She folds surprisingly easily given her condescending attitude and stands down pretty quickly if someone talks back to her. This is because she’s extremely insecure in her own authority and has spent so long internalising the rhetoric of being seen and not heard as a child that any small amount of pushback is enough for her façade to come crumbling down. Behind her bared teeth is a wounded animal licking her wounds; behind her attitude is someone who's deeply hurt and is lashing out in order to protect herself.

Despite her bitey disposition, she has some good traits, the first being she's incredibly dependable. A Juno promise is worth its weight in gold. She always keeps up her end of the bargain, and if she says she'll do something, it's a guarantee that it'll get done. On top of this, she's also very level-headed and not liable to panic. She'll make you feel like absolute shit first, but if you have an emergency, she's one of the best people you could call to sort things out.

something your muse struggles with: Juno's constant need to prove herself as superior to those around her is also the thing that drags her down below everyone else. Her bitter, condescending attitude makes her hard to work with and hard to get along with.

your muse’s greatest strength: For all her faults, Juno's greatest strength is that she will never break a promise she makes. She's reliable and dependable if she doesn't bite your head off first.

history / background:

The world Juno was born into was cruel and indifferent. Many years ago, a company named Arctis eventually brought out the rights to everything on Earth, including the government. With the invention of near-lightspeed travel, Arctis set their sights far beyond Earth and on the entire universe. They begun their mission of colonising the entirety of space. They’ve gotten pretty damn close since then, too; they’ve colonised not only the closest habitable planets to Earth, known as the Inner Rim, but they’ve also colonised habitable planets beyond that, known as the Mid Rim, and planets even further than that with non-human inhabitants, known as the Outer Rim.

Having been anonymously given up for adoption very soon after xyr birth, Juno knows nothing about xyr beginnings. All xe knows is that xe grew up in the foster care system of the run-down planet of Breuchilles 760 in the Mid Rim. Xyr childhood was spent moving around different foster homes, and xe was constantly told to look after xemself to lessen the strain on the system and not to cause trouble for xyr guardians.

So that’s exactly what xe did. As soon as xe was old enough, at age 13, Juno got a job on xyr home planet in a factory manufacturing fuel tanks for ships. Things were going pretty well for xem until xe started presenting with  psychotic symptoms at age 15 and a psychotic break at work lead to xem getting fired. Xe then landed xemself a job on Vethea’s Outpost, a refuelling station for ships and moon of xyr home planet, that xe remained in until adulthood.

At 18, Juno was unceremoniously kicked out of the foster care system and left to fend for xemself again. One slight problem, though; Vethea’s Outpost functioned as a giant intergalactic gas station that wasn’t meant to house human life in the long-term, and xe couldn’t afford the journey to xyr job. So xe lived xyr life out of cheap, shitty motels around Verthea’s Outpost because xe couldn’t afford any better. But motel prices steadily increased, and Juno began having to make sacrifices. One such sacrifice was xyr beloved dog, a Dobermann named Satsumaimo. Xe was left unable to afford to take care of him and had to give him up. Xe’s still devastated about it.

A sacrifice xe refused to make was the medication used to treat xyr psychosis. Xe was pushed to steal money from xyr job to afford treatment, but paid dearly for it later as xe was eventually caught for stealing money from xyr employer and swiftly trialled and sentenced to do community service on a ship. The ship in question was Theseus 08085, a research ship headed to an uncharted region beyond the Outer Rim. Xe was assigned the role of Fuel Technician due to xyr past experience. Here’s hoping xe makes it out alive, eh?

BIOCYBERNETIC ENHANCEMENT - As is common practice, Juno has a biocybernetic enhancement. The particular one she has is one that increases her muscle strength. As with all biocybernetic enhancements, this also increases her lifespan slightly.

items / weapons:

GUN - A handheld gun with technology developed by Arctis. It shoots powerful beams of electricity that instantly cauterise any wound they cause as to avoid a messy cleanup.

SATSUMAIMO - Juno's beloved dog that she had to surrender. An elderly but fiercely loyal Dobermann.
