Sometimes I find myself meticulously analysing and watching peoples pronouns on their email sign-offs, or in their intro cards, bios, etc. Not because I expect it to change, but because it’s been a while and idk if they got a software update while I wasn’t paying attention.
#the pronouns are the software update#for clarity#that was how I came out to one of my friends was just by saying ‘oh! software update; it’s they/them now’#and that has stuck for ever minor change in my life#just a little tweak. a patch in the coding for where needed changing#I don’t know anything about computers#but I like the metaphor and it’s stuck
