Spirit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
word count: 2232
synopsis: in which you can’t find a costume for a Halloweekend party, and the cute employee at Spirit Halloween, Wong Yukhei, is all too glad to help you.
warning[s]: flirting, mentions of alcohol, a single profanity, and a kiss.
a/n: another cute one! i was sitting in my cog. psych class this morning writing little notes on what i wanted to write for this fic and i think my professor saw me getting a little excited over it because she gave me a ? look and i was like dfghjkl i need to not think about fanfic during my one class on MWF
Tumblr media
Every year, come late autumn, the mall pitches a large tent in the parking lot and fill it with all sorts of cobwebs and costumes. Atop it all, the grim reaper logo flies on a pumpkin orange banner bearing the name of the store, Spirit Halloween, and its catchphase, So much fun it’s scary!
“Y/n, are you ready to find yourself a costume for this Halloweekend?” Mina asks, gripping your elbow. “I can’t believe you’re actually coming along to the party this year.”
“I can’t believe my dad’s letting me,” you sigh as she drags you through the open door. Immediately your nose is flooded with the strange, zesty smell of dry ice as white smoke pools around your feet, and you cough.
A honey-haired, tall boy looks over from the cash register to your left. He waves at the two of you, with the brightest, most honest smile you’ve ever seen. “Welcome to Spirit!”
“Hello,” you reply, dipping your head in greeting.
“He’s cute,” Mina murmurs, eyes flicking from top to bottom as she appraises him. “Too bad I have a boyfriend.”
You snort. “You say that every time we come across someone remotely attractive, like you’re not whipped for Kazumi.”
“I can appreciate handsome boys.” She rolls her eyes, then gasps, spotting something at the other end of the store, pointing excitedly. “Y/n, look, there’s couple costumes! Should I force Kazu to wear one with me?”
“Hell yeah.”
“Oh my god. I think I see a honey and bee set! Meet me at the register in 30?”
“Got it. I’ll go… look for a costume.”
“Text me if you find anything exciting!”
Tumblr media
Half-heartedly, you examine a simple witch costume, one with a long, flowing black skirt and a pointed felt hat. You’ve been a witch before, more than twice, at least, and you don’t mind the low cut neckline if it means you’re not going to spend another day looking in vain for another costume that won’t have your father up in arms.
“Finding everything okay?”
You glance at the speaker; it’s the cute boy from the register grinning down at you. He towers over you a little, and he notices when you flinch at his presence and takes an amiable step backwards, chuckling.
“I think I’m good,” is your automatic response, staring down at the plastic bag containing the witch costume.
Meekly, you add, “...If I change my mind, I’ll come find you.”
“Of course. Anything you need, you come to me, doll.” He grins, giggling a little at his own audacity, and then heads off to talk to a couple of girls in the next aisle poring over little devilish pieces and pairing lipsticks with their outfits.
Mina holds up the witch costume next to you, screwing up her nose in focus. “I don’t know, girl. I know you don’t wanna look too slutty, but you know, it’s Halloweekend. Go crazy. Go stupid.”
“I know, I know.” You take the costume back from her, and place it back on the hooks. “I just, I don’t know. I haven’t felt super excited about Halloween in a while.”
“That’s okay~” she reassures you, patting your cheeks. “Take your time, you still have one more day!”
“Yeah” you sigh. “Did you find what you wanted, at least?”
She lights up immediately, and holds up an Adult Avocado and Toast couples’ costume. “He’s going to hate this so much, but what do you think?”
“It’s very… Californian of you.”
She laughs. “That settles it. I’m getting it. Are you going to buy any makeup or anything?”
“No, I asked Lisa to do my makeup.” As you talk, the two of you navigate through the aisles towards the cash registers at the front. “That’s another reason I want to find a costume fast; she told me it would be nice if I told her as soon as possible so she could come up with a look.”
“Hello!” the cashier greets you. “Did any employees help you today?”
“Ah, yes,” Mina taps her lip with her debit card. “I think his name was Yukhei.”
The cashier smiles fondly at the name as she rings up the purchase. “That’ll be 49.99.”
Mina swipes her card, and turns to you as the transaction loads. “Are you gonna come back tomorrow?”
“Do I have a choice?”
“Other than skipping the party? None.”
Tumblr media
The next day you show up at Spirit alone. You’d tried to get Lisa to come with you, but she'd had refused in favor of studying for the Physics midterm, and Mina’s shift was going to run long past Spirit’s closing time of 9pm.
You hold your breath when you pass through the fumes of the fog machine this time, striding through it so quickly you miss a certain someone waving at you.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” he calls after you, his voice reeling you back. “Why in such a rush?”
Biting your lip, you backtrack to the register. “There’s a party this weekend…”
“And you’re in desperate need of a costume,” he finishes, eyes gleaming. “Well, you’ve come to the right guy.”
He offers you his hand to shake and introduces himself. “Wong Yukhei. You can call me Yukhei, or Lucas, my English name.”
You take his hand and shake. His palm is warm and callused against yours. “Y/n.”
“Well, y/n, what are you in the market for?” he asks, rounding the register to walk side by side with you down the aisle of trick or treat bowls, the ones that have little gimmicky skulls and bony hands that react whenever you reach into them. “Cute? Sexy? Spooky?”
“I don’t know,” you say, picking up a Scream mask attached to a pump meant to push a red liquid faintly resembling blood into its plastic chamber and turning it over in your hands just to do something with them as you approach the Adult Costumes section in the back. “There’s a party this weekend, and I don’t know what I want to be.”
“What costumes have you worn before?”
“I’ve been a black cat and witch more times than I can count. I was a fairy when I was a kid, once.” You replace the mask on a shelf with similar pieces.
He laughs. “Those aren’t bad. I’m sure you looked great.”
“Yeah, but they’re safe choices.”
Yukhei reaches up to grab a costume from the top row of hooks, but pauses before he grabs it, looking you square in the eye to say, “Nothing wrong with safe, doll.”
He says that, but with the smell of cedar and vanilla radiating from him as he leans down to hand it to you, you think, maybe safe is a little too boring for you.
Tumblr media
Lisa gently pulls the hair back from your face and draws it into a loose plait. “You found a costume, huh?”
“Yeah.” Your fingers twitch as you remember how you’d taken it home and torn the plastic bag apart to really try it on for the first time, and looked in the mirror. You’d spun and marveled at yourself until you grew dizzy, and then you’d laid on your bed and laughed.
“And what else did you find?” she prods, pinching your cheek. “Cuz I heard from Mina…”
You roll your eyes. “What did she tell you?”
She pats primer on your face, and you wince at the feel of the cold cream. “That you had goo-goo eyes for a tall and tan hottie.”
“I did not!”
She snickers as she looks through her foundations to match your skin color. “Did you get his number?”
“Why would I ask for that? He was just helping me out. You know, like a normal retail employee would.” “Well, sweetie, when two people are physically attracted to each other, it’s only natural that they want to get to know each other in a more intimate way. Whether you want to hold his hand or hop on that dick, I’m not judging.”
You splutter. “I’m not going to do that!”
“Alright, alright,” she relents, spinning a brush between her fingers with a giggle, “but if anything happens, I wanna hear all the details.”
Tumblr media
At ten past nine, you show up to the party with Mina on your right. Kazumi trails behind the two of you, tugging at the green felt avocado costume on his frame and grumbling.
The house belongs to one of Kazumi’s friends, whose parents are gone for the weekend on a business trip. It’s a lovely little villa in the midst of nowhere, with a chic, modern inside, and a wooden deck complete with a firepit, where most of the invitees sit, soaking up the autumn breeze and firelight.
“We’re going to go get some drinks,” Mina announces, turning to take her boyfriend’s hand. She looks you up and down with a grin. “Go get em, tigress.”
“You’re ditching me already?” You cling to her sleeve; while you love your costume, you don’t love the idea of walking around the party by yourself no matter what you’re wearing.
“No, I’m letting you free. Find a corner and wait for the boys to come to you, darling.” She blows you a kiss and plucks your fingers from her costume to head into the kitchen. “You’ve always been beautiful. Now unleash your inner hoe.”
Tumblr media
The jungle juice is way too strong for you.
Still, you take sips from your half-filled cup every now and then to keep your hands from shielding your body, letting the sharp heat of the liquid sear the hesitation from your fingertips. The tight black lycra material of the SWAT catsuit on your body makes you feel like you’re exposed, every curve, every bump, every out-of-place spot on your body on display for everyone to see.
The firelight doesn’t quite reach you in this corner, though, on the cushioned wooden bench just to the right of the screen doors, so you’re not all that worried.
The polished wood of the deck creaks as a tall silhouette approaches you, and you curl your legs under your body to let them squeeze past you and the group of frat boys cheering loudly for their friend chugging the contents of a vodka bottle.
But the person sits by you instead.
“I thought I recognized you,” a familiar voice purrs. “What are the odds, though?”
You meet Yukhei’s glittering chocolate eyes with a gasp. In a leather jacket, distressed blue jeans and a pair of aviators clipped onto his shirt, and with his hair slicked back over his forehead, even in the faint light, he looks more attractive than he has any right to be.
“Greaser?” is all you can manage to say.
“Guilty as charged.” He holds his hands up in mock surrender, touching the rings in his earlobes when he says, “You look good.”
“Thanks.” Blood rushes to your cheeks, and you fiddle with with the plastic cuffs on the belt hanging low on your hips. It feels strange to be talking to him as a person and not as a customer, though his easy, goofy grin is still the same. “You’re not too bad yourself.”
Yukhei laughs, fiddling with the dozen rings on his fingers. “You should have a little more confidence, babe.”
You choke on your punch. Doll had been a safe nickname, but babe? “I’m… what?”
He shakes his head, gesturing to all of you. “Come on. You don’t think you look good?”
When you open your mouth, ready to deflect his compliment, he covers your mouth with a hand. In the firelight, the edges of his face are outlined in amber and carnelian, and heat floods your cheeks when you notice that he’s not smiling, for once, and instead looks entirely serious when he tells you, “You’re beautiful.”
He sits back, taking his hand from your skin as if the brief moment of contact has burned him. He turns his head towards the firepit, and you can see that he’s scrunching his face up awkwardly, cheeks red with embarrassment.
“Thank you,” you murmur.
He scoots closer to you, so close that your legs touch from knee to hip. “Sorry, I don’t want to invade your personal space, but I really can’t hear you.”
“No, it’s okay.” It really isn’t; his sweet, woody cologne envelops you, washing over you like the heat of the fire, and you unconsciously lean into him, cheek brushing his shoulder as you repeat your thanks.
Yukhei chuckles, and you take a deep swig of your drink in the hopes that it’ll keep you from drowning in his smile.
He doesn’t say anything for a while. And eventually, you give in and rest your head on his shoulder, watching the embers dance in the firepit and the rowdy group of boys begin to wind down for the night, sitting on the edge of the deck and pointing up drunkenly at the constellations in the sky.
It’s a little uncomfortable, resting on his collarbone, but when his arm sneaks around to wrap around your shoulders, you don’t mind at all.
And when his eyes meet yours and crinkle in a smile, and one of his hands comes up to cup your face gently, you close your eyes and lean into the kiss.
You leave that night with the taste of chocolate on your lips and his hand in yours.

vampire! Mingyu
Anon requested: “ WOOOO requests are open?? I'd like to request a mingyu vampire au lol idk this just came to my mind... “
Genre: fluff
Word Count: 1973
A/N: not too sure yet, but this may sound the tiniest bit of graphic to some, you’ve been warned :’)
few humans know of vampires
and the ones that do, or did, are dead
what kind of dead, that’s up to them and the vampire
vampires aren’t evil, they still have their personalities
and like humans can be good and evil, vampires can be too
like humans can have armies, groups, organizations
vampires can have them too
one of the more well known ones, Seventeen, actually extremely hard to get into
to this day, only thirteen male members, and some rumors of their girlfriends
meanwhile, getting his face smashed against the tree, Mingyu takes deep breaths
hands holding onto the tree, he grins at the sound behind him
“is that all you got?”
Mingyu glances back at Seungcheol and mirrors the smirk the latter is flashing
“not even close”
and there goes the two again, racing to the top of the mountain
not afraid to let a little wrestling in on the way
“i win” Seungcheol grins, patting him on the back
chuckling, Mingyu waves casually, “i’m going to find food”
after standing on top of the mountain for the millionth time,
the view does get old lol
running care-freely, he goes all the way down past the huge new house
vampires must move around after all
and here’s the thing
the means to get human blood is pretty morbid
though it’s their means of survival, the rule in Seventeen is blood bags and animals only
can’t having anyone forgetting to change a human’s memory or heal them yikes
standing openly in the forest, Mingyu stays silent, looking around for the smallest of movements
then drawing his fangs out he runs
teeth sinking into the live, innocent animal, bloodshot eyes burning in satisfaction
he drains the blood quickly, having not eaten the whole day
the limp deer drops to the ground with a slight thud as Mingyu grimaces in his smile
“sorry,” he whispers before turning and leisurely walking out the forest
it was either the hot animal blood or the cold blood bag
while the truth was nothing could ever beat a human’s
going back to the house, he grabs his bag and attempts to leave the door
before Minghao flashes in front of him leaning against the wood smirking
“i can’t believe your voluntarily going back to that hellhole.”
with a bit of effort, Mingyu opens the door, grinning back at his friend
“college isn’t a hellhole”
Minghao shrugs, “your dead and going to college so, yeah, it is.”
he shortly gives a fist bump before going back inside
yes this is the twenty-second time Mingyu has been gone to college
imagine the things he knows though oh lord
while alive, he had always stressed over what to major in
now he could easily take anything he had the slightest interest in
so he sits in his psychology class, head resting on his head, smiling slightly at the board
or maybe at something else
or someone
“i don’t know how you can be so happy for a psych class,” you chuckle
the boy turns, his smile practically radiating
“i can’t just be happy?” he laughs at your expression
“your allowed to have one bad day Kim Mingyu.”
patting his arm, you settle into your seat, next to him
‘how can i when i get to see you...’
alas, that’s not the words coming out of his mouth
sadly the conversation couldn’t continue, as the professor starts class
an hour later during class, running his hand through his hair, tugging at the roots
anyone would think he just woke up from a nap and freaking out because he just missed an hour of notes
but nope that’s not it, it’s what happened a few minutes prior
okay vampires don’t sleep really
it’s more like closing your eyes peacefully, while listening to the prof
“Mingyu-ah~”
your soft voice sends shivers through him
and as he opens his eyes, all his senses rise as he stares deeply into your eyes, so close to him
“i’ll text you the notes,” you wink, leaning away acting as if nothing has happened
Mingyu never felt more disrespected
your scent still lingers around him
it’s torture
and taking all his might to not pounce on you right now
now after letting his mind wander, he’s at his current state
stressing himself out because, what the actual fuck is he going to do
it’s not like he can easily start a relationship with you
how could he possibly start something where only broken hearts might come out of
that’s not what your thinking
“do you have a class after this?”
“huh, oh um no i don’t”
you smile nervously, “want to get lunch with me”
not letting his thoughts peak through, other than ‘fuck it’ he answers
“let’s go”
his hands latch onto his book bag straps desperately, nails almost digging into his palms
“what do you want to eat?” he asks
your arms swing back and forth, unintentionally drawing his attention to them
but dammit does he want to hold your hand
“that little cafe shop down the road?”
“uhhh sure”
you smile at him, realizing the expression he has
he’s tilting his head slightly, grinning widely to try to hide the confusion in his eyes
“you’ve never been there have you?”
sheepishly, he shakes his head shyly
“what the heck,”
you shock him by grabbing his wrist
“let’s go then!”
myth: vampires only drink blood
nah, it’s just they can’t get nutrients from it, hence blood
what’s much more appetizing though, cough
you lick your lips, after taking a spoonful, “take a bite Mingyu~”
how ironic
“it’s really good” he smiles immediately, and not because of the food
your pretty face, eating simple pasta, smiling like it was the best thing in the world
ignorance is bliss
“are you finally having that bad day?” you ask curiously
Mingyu’s been quiet today
i mean you do only normally see him in class, and he did smile a bit
but even then, he’s twirling his pencil, making origami with notebook paper
you didn’t add to your collection of mini swans today
but today nothing, nada
and it worried you more than you would admit
strangely, you’ve grown fond of him, without even knowing him
“does it seem that way,” he smiles apologetically, “got a bit on my mind”
“care to tell?”
he hesitates, before leaning back
“there’s a girl I like, but i’ll never work out”
you lean forward, your lips twitching, “and what makes you think it won’t”
he stays silent and you take this as your cue to continue
“do you know why I asked you to lunch?”
he shakes his head
“i like you, Mingyu, and I rather face rejection than regretting I never did something”
you force yourself to not look away from his eyes, trying to read every single emotion that goes through
“not a lot of people can be like that” he says finally
“history” you state simply
“for the record, you were the girl I was talking about”
you smile at him, happy enough to get that
swinging your bag back over your shoulder, you stand
“i think we can make it work, when you think so too,”
his lips are parted slightly, showing there’s something he’s going to say
judging from his face, it’s not what you want to hear,
besides that fact, you wink,
“call me”
he watches you pass through the door, cross the street, meet up with one of your girl friends while walking back to campus, he sighs
he looks at the ring on his pinky, the one so graciously giving him the ability to not burn on the spot
“if only she knew”
one whole week
that’s how long Mingyu had until he saw you again
that’s also how long the others had to get it out of him
even if it means bother him the kitchen
“Mingyuuuuu, who’s this girl i hear them talk of?”
Jeonghan smirks, trying to make eyecontact
“hyung is there no subtly?” he laughs, unamused
“who said there’s a girl?” Mingyu continues stirring his food for their dinner
how did they know??
“i know there is”
Wonwoo pops of out of no where, head in a book
“you’re acting weird”
if Vampires could blush, Mingyu would be past that
“get out, get out if you wanna eat”
and he avoids that conversation for about a day
but on that last day, he really cant take it anymore
it’s 1:00 in the morning when he grabs his phone, and speeds to that little cafe
“are you awake?”
“you have the audacity to call me at 1:00 am?”
he smiles to himself, swinging his long legs back and forth on the cafe roof
“i’m sorry”
“i don’t need an apology for that”
he’s speechless for a moment, mouth suddenly feeling dry
on the other side, you bite your lip nervously, all the confidence you show outside gone
you can hear his breathe through the phone
“can you meet me?”
you tap your pencil on your desk, surprised at his words
“i only give one chance Kim Mingyu” you say softly, grabbing your coat and leaving
you find him quickly, tilting your head up “how am I supposed to get up there??”
“climb!!”
he motions excessively to the tree beside him
taking a deep breathe, you latch onto the first branch, starting to climb
there’s a comfortable silence when you get up there, and you break it, sitting closely next to him
“making the girl do all the dirty work on the first date, what a man”
you joke smiling,
he grins, the grin you’ve been thinking about all week
“is this a date now?”
you pout, “i’m leaving if this isn’t”
without his eyes leaving yours, he takes his hand, tangling it in yours
it’s feels a little cool
“stay, please”
you nod, leaning your head on his shoulder
he gives your hand a quick squeeze, “i think we can make this work”
you feel a but coming
“but there’s something you need to know first”
the sky is dark but you can still see his eyes glistening
“i’m a vampire”
your mind goes blank
the words that come out your mouth are automatic
“is that why your hand is cold”
he chuckles, obviously not expecting your reaction
“definitely didn’t think I was going to be hearing that”
you burst into laughter
“don’t worry i’ll be freaking out when i go home”
“this...” you pause, “it doesn’t change how I feel about you”
“seriously?” Mingyu bites his lip
your eyes haze over, possibly from the lack of sleep, or not
“don’t get me wrong, it changes a lot”
your words come out a bit breathless, as you tilt your head up slightly,
leaning in, just a bit
but instead, his hand lets go of yours as it moves to cup your cheek
he whispers, “you always make the first move”
before closing the gap
it was something completely different than what he’s ever felt
ever since becoming a vampire, he gave up the thought the love
but maybe he’s found it
his hands find themselves resting on your waist, before pulling away
“it’s going to be complicated”
you can’t help the smile that forms on your face, looking at his worried expression
running your thumb over his cheek, you chuckle, “we can think about that another time”
your hands intertwine again, you head leaning on his shoulder
just simply discussing trivial non-important things
‘it’s going to work out just fine’ you think, smiling
“what’s that smile for?”
you grin, “nothing~”
tapping on the roof, you huff
“you better help me down”
he smirks, “on it”
faster than you can see, he stands up on the roof
holding you in his arms bridal style
his eyes are sparkling again
“hold on tightly.”

Haikyuu: Reporter/First year/Newbie
Chapter 1: Introduction                Chapter 2
You didn’t know what it was about this new school and the love they obviously felt towards their Boys’ Volleyball team, but seeing as you had only been attending for less than a week and your first assignment as a member of the School Newspaper Club was to get an exclusive with one of its members, there was only one thought going through your head…
“I hope they’ll make this easier for me.”
You should not have been as nervous as you were, standing in front of the doors to the gymnasium. You were a great reporter. The clubs you had been a part of at your old school always prioritized your pieces. Your writing teachers always gave you high marks, even when you bull sh**ed your way through your assignments. This piece would be no different...or so you hoped.
It was hard being asked to write about something you didn’t know anything about. Which is why you spent all of lunch that day looking up as many volleyball terms that popped into any national articles you read.
You avoided reading any news about Karasuno’s team because you were afraid it would give you a bias opinion. Which was the reason the editor gave you this assignment over your seniors in the club.
“Unfortunately for me…” You found yourself thinking before you could stop it. “Whelp! It’s now or never,” You verbally psyched yourself up and pushed open the doors in front of you.
You heard the quick squeaking of sneakers against the floors, before realizing you had opened the door with your eyes shut. In fear of accidentally being hit with a flying ball. You slowly opened one of your eyes and let out a sigh of relief when you saw that a completely full ball bag stood on the opposite side of the gym from where the team had stopped running.
Bowing your head, you introduced yourself, “Sorry for the interruption! I’m (L/N) (F/N), from the School Newspaper Club.” You stood up straight with a smile on your face, hoping beyond all hopes that at least one of your seniors had kept their word and informed someone on the team you’d be dropping by today.
No one moved. It was almost quiet enough to hear a pin drop.
“Uh...I-I’m sor--” You started but was cut off by someone slamming their hands on the doors behind you.
Panting, and trying to catch his breath, someone you could only assume was the academic advisor slowly straightened his posture. “Boys! Sometime tonight, the Newspaper Club is going to send someone over to interview our team! Isn’t that exciting?!” The teacher practically yelled.
Giggling at his antics, and drawing his attention to you, you smiled nervously at him and waved. Bowing again, you reintroduced yourself.
The boys on the other side of the room began laughing at their instructor and walked towards the pair of you by the gym doors.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t tell them before you got here!” The professor explained he had a faculty meeting and lost track of time. “I’m the team’s advisor, please call me Takeda-sensei.”
Respectfully bowing, you managed to comfort the teacher in front of you. Claiming that it was your own fault for not being patient enough to wait later into the evening.
Takeda faced his team with a warm smile, but his eyes danced with a warning to the boys, “This is a wonderful thing for the volleyball team. Make sure you all are on your best behavior, and show our school exactly why they should keep cheering us on.”
You thanked the professor for his time as he explained to you and the team how he wanted the night to run. Giving ample time for you to conduct personal interviews, group ones, and to see the team in action.
With one last look to the team of boys, Takeda excused himself to grading, and closed the gym doors behind himself.
“Well, before you begin asking us all whatever you need to, could we maybe get to know you a bit better?” A tall, short-black-haired individual began, “I’m positive it would put some of our more timid members at ease.” He added.
You felt like giggling, and hid a smile behind the back of your hand. Pulling your favorite pencil from behind your ear, you nodded consent towards him, “What would you like to know?”
A shorter, orange haired boy quickly jumped in front of you, “What year are you? Have you always been here? What class are you in? How’d you get into-”
“Hinata-kun, that’s enough. Try two at a time?” A silver haired individual said, cutting off the shorter one and seemingly asking you if his suggestion was okay. You nodded again, and he smiled an ear-splitting grin. The beauty mark under his eye being emphasized.
“Sorry, (L/N)-san.” The orange haired boy, Hinata-kun, said sheepishly, “What class are you in?”
You smiled at him, “I’m in class 1-5, but that’s mostly because of my work in writing and English.”
He nodded his thanks and stepped back to talk to someone else in the group.
“Did you just move here?” A larger...man...asked. His haired was pulled back, but you could tell it was long. His size sort of intimidated you, but the way he spoke made you think he was like a giant teddy bear.
This time when you smiled, you head tilted to the side. “Yes, this past week actually!”
When seemingly the whole team started throwing questions at you, you became startled. Not used to being this much the center of attention, your smile faltered and you took a cautious step back.
“Shut up, morons.” You heard someone say. Looking up, you noticed everyone had listened and were all looking at a tall blond boy who wore a nice pair of sport-glasses. “It’s so uncool to scare someone who is trying to make you look cool to the idiots at this school.”
You thought the boy’s tone was harsh, but appreciated that the screaming in your direction was put to an end. “Thank you.” You whispered in his direction. The boy only tsk’d in response, before turning away from you.
“W-Where did you move here fro-rom?” A timid looking boy covered in freckles stuttered.
“(Hometown/place you wish was your ht). It was really great at times, but I’m having fun here at Karasuno so far!” You clapped your hands together, twirling your pencil out of the way, between the fingers on one hand. “Anything else?”
Two boys, one with practically a buzz-cut and the other with spiky-hair and a blonde patch smiled at one another, “You got a boyfriend?”
You turned beat-red at the question, and stuttered over responding in the negative.
While you were going to another side of the gym to set up a small interview area, the boy’s team crowded around one another.
“You heard her boys,” Tanaka began, “She’s a free agent.”
Nishinoya winked at his friend’s comment, “And, hopefully that’ll change after tonight.”
A couple member groaned at their obnoxiousness, but didn’t disagree with the team libero.
“What should we do captain?” Ennoshita asked, turning all the boy’s attention to Daichi.
The third year mumbled about how is he supposed to know, and asked, “Are all of us seriously about to be after the same girl? If anyone is not going to try to get her number tonight, please SLIGHTLY raise your hand now.”
When no one made any indication to move, the captain released a heavy sigh and dropped his head. “Okay,” He took a deep breath, “Okay. We will not make her uncomfortable. That is the first and foremost important matter.”
Looking to his co-captain, Daichi pleaded with his eyes for Sugawara to add more. Luckily, his friend conceded, “Tonight is about helping her write this article for the school paper. Not about getting her to possibly choose one of us. That is important to keep focused on as well.”
Suga looked towards the other third year in the group, hoping he would have another piece of information for the group. Another regulation to hopefully keep their rambunctious kouhais in check. Asahi nodded, drawing attention to himself.
“Don’t try to make her choose tonight. Let her get to know us, maybe she’ll ask for our numbers maybe she won’t. Don’t force her to take them. Don’t force her to give hers. She’s in charge.” He said, before relaxing at his own tentious-ness.
The whole team agreed to what their seniors declared. Straightened their postures and silently challenging each other. All thinking the exact same thought…
“Let the best man win!”
