Do you ever think about how painfully alone Saiki must have felt when he transferred after the Akechi incident?

This was like the confirmation that he couldn't even hope to be normal, that he couldn't hope to live a normal life with a friend who knew him completely and liked him anyway. The confirmation that he was a "monster", that he couldn't even afford to care for others lest his emotions explode and end up hurting others.

Do you ever think about how badly he must have wanted someone to help him, or at the very least understand him? His parents may love him but they don't get the difficult parts of his powers, and Kusuke is the one who called him a monster. That's not what he needed. He was a child, he needed someone to rely on, to make him feel it wasn't all on him, like he didn't have to hide and push everyone away because he was dangerous.

But he didn't have that.

And until his second year of highschool came along, bringing Nendo and Kaido, he was just... alone. He just accepted that's how it had to be and he convinced himself that's what he wanted.

He went from a little kid wanting so bad to show off his powers to do little tricks in order to make friends to a boy who can't even acknowledge to himself that he likes someone's company. Because it's not right, he can't live a normal life unless he isolates himself from everybody.

At that point he doesn't even consider himself part of humanity. It's just heartbreaking.

#thinking about the similarities between mob and the ritsu incident and saiki with the akechi incident #except mob was scared but he got to walk into reigen's office and get someone to help him a little. saiki didn't have anything like that #bc the thing is... obviously reigen is no esper but what he said and what he did helped mob a lot. not completely. but a lot #saiki didn't even meet another esper until toritsuka. he was just completely alone in that sense #saiki kusuo #tdlosk #saiki k
