"Night", acrylic, ink, collage, and oil on canvas board, round, 30cm diameter. It was one of my contributions to the Month of Fear challenge and I came up with the idea of showing a city's glowing silhouette from orbit, and chose Kairo as my inspiration because it follows the Nile so wonderfully that the effect of an artery leading to a thriving heart was obvious. The city is created by collaging tiny snippets of brass foil onto the canvas. Other details are spirograph shapes drawn with ink pens to suggest the complexity of dark and light.
