I wanna preface this by saying that I really love your art and AUs and this isn't meant to be an attack in any way

I just wanted to ask why none of the characters in your lineup are fat?

in my mind, i see most of them as skinny little teenagers, because that's what they look like in Hero Mode.

a few of them are stockier or chubbier, but none of them are very fat to me. i do acknowledge that it's kind of hard to see, since they are wearing either baggy clothing or compression garments like corsets (in the case of jane).

this is not to say anyone else's interpretations are wrong, this is just my own. it would be boring if everyone saw them the same as i did.

i rarely, if ever, draw the alpha kids, so this was fun.

i love it when people talk about the complexity of moiraillegiance in alternia! like meowrails is the EXCEPTION to moirails existing entirely to stop someone (mostly the one in the higher blood caste) from being an active danger to others. that is not a healthy dynamic! and basically every single time those dynamics are doomed to fail, because highbloods have zero incentive to reign in their violence once they reach adulthood, and in the cases of erifef, gamkar, and (pre-retcon) vrisrezi, it doesn’t even work.

in that sense, meowrails is very wholesome when compared to every other canon moiraillegiance, so it makes sense that the sadstuck they do get mostly revolves around their deaths. but god is it interesting thinking about how they’d likely fall apart if they didn’t play sgrub and end the world. in a way, it’s mostly thanks to the hell that is alternia forcing them into roles that would destroy their friendship by default, especially since equius is a rigid believer in the hemocaste system- so much so that he didn’t even TRY to kill gamzee. it was only something he regretted after he died and had time to deconstruct his beliefs, mainly driven by the fact that he DID love nepeta a great deal. and every time i think about the scenes where equius thinks about how much he missed nepeta in act 6 i fucking bawl it is so sad and sweet

i think there’s a lot to be said about how the lord english loop might’ve required equius to hold those beliefs to stop him from resisting gamzee, and how therefore meowrails was so much more important to the plot than we give it credit for, but… yeah. equius just wouldn’t have changed if it wasn’t for sgrub, and nepeta would’ve been very right to break their moiraillegiance in that hypothetical world because honestly i am a RIDE OR DIE for nepeta she deserves the world!!

nepeta and equius still having such a strong friendship despite the difficulties of their situation really does just go to show how amazing their bond is. they have complications in their relationship due to differing views but they dont hate each other for it, they just slowly learn to accept each other for who they are and they dont let it ruin them

obviously as i mentioned before i think had they stayed on alternia this could have taken a much worse route and i have been cooking up an au about that in my head that i do need to draw soon XD

but yeah i love thinking about moirails, especially the meowrails

im like super tempted to go into my classpect based analysis of them both coz i didnt expect my lil yap about them to pop off like this XDDD i know its probably been talked about to death but i loveeeee talking about characters in relation to their classpect

happy 612! in honor of the occasion, i managed to finally finish a homestuck lineup…

it’s my humanstuck, but i put them each into different distinct eras/niches of semi-recent american history. i felt like it. they're all 16/17 here, as they are usually.

i took most of their outfits straight out of media from each respective era (tweaking a few colors here and there), so i hope they’re accurate enough. let me know if they are, and whether or not you can tell what everyone’s supposed to be.

this was really fun, and i do really want to do the humans next. i’ve already given most of them their assignments, so it’s just a matter of drawing and coloring them…

nah, there are a lot of arlingtons in the usa. (off the top of my head, i think there are some in minnesota, illinois, and california? and probably more)

they are in a (fictional) vague midwestern suburb sort of area.

i really think equius and nepeta works so much better as a dynamic if you acknowledge the more flawed aspects of their relationship in the beginning of their screentime. like obviously i've got nothing against anyone who sees them as perfect besties from start to end lol this is just my reading of their in canon interactions

they start of the story being a little more against each other. like not in a negative way, just in a way of not really understanding each other's interests. their moirallegiance is slightly more on the "we're doing this because this is what we have to do" side, nepeta describes it as a job (which yeah moirallegiance is a job as such a big role in troll society), speaks about how she's scared of equius and how nobody else will put up with him and he's happily willing to order her around as if she's below him. but they're still best friends, there's something deeper then these issues that draws them to each other.

we see basically every moirallegiance fall apart over the course of the story at one point or another except for theirs. they have issues and flaws and lowkey kinda toxic traits (heavy on equius for that) just like the other moirail havers but they're willing to grow and change for each other. they become more accepting of each other's quirks and you can just see how much they care about each other right from their introduction and up until they have their final conversation as stridersprite fusions.

i think them just being a bit more distant at the beginning and then learning to really understand each other just shows what it takes to have a successful moirallegiance. they could have easily fallen into their more negative ways with equius truly belittling her or nepeta continuing to talk negatively about him but they instead decided to be epic besties and have the most amazing feelings jam sessions known to troll kind. now if everyone else had busted their ass in the friendship department like these two, we might be down a few less trolls /j

no really though equius is the only high blood who doesnt go off his shits despite them all having moirails or ex moirails with them on the meteor (except for feferi but like she gets murdered before she can lose her shit. gone too soon)
