SpaceX Launching Satellite to Display Billboard Ads in Space

Orbital Billboards

SpaceX is partnering with a Canadian tech startup to launch a digital billboard into orbit. 

Samuel Reid, CEO and co-founder of Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC), said that his company is partnering with SpaceX to launch an advertisement satellite, called a CubeSat, into space, according to Insider. The satellite would have a massive screen on one side where people can bid to have their logos and advertisements displayed. 

“There might be companies which want to depict their logo … or it might end up being a bit more personal and artistic,” Reid said to Insider. “Maybe Coca-Cola and Pepsi will fight over their logo and reclaim over each other.”

The process of purchasing advertising space on the satellite is a bit complex but fairly interesting. For one, anyone will be able to purchase digital advertising space so long as you pay more than someone else bidding. 

“I’m trying to achieve something that can democratize access to space and allow for decentralized participation,” Reid said to Insider. “Hopefully, people don’t waste money on something inappropriate, insulting or offensive.”

Yeah, we wouldn’t hold our breath for that. 

You’ll also have to purchase tokens in order to stake pixel space on the satellite. There are five tokens you’ll be able to buy: Gamma, which determines the brightness of the display; Kappa, which determines the color; Beta, which determines the X coordinate; Rhoe, which determines the Y coordinate; and Xi, which determines the time your ad will be displayed. 

Folks will also be able to purchase tokens using cryptocurrencies. Reid said that he wants to eventually have Dogecoin be an acceptable form of payment. 

Lucrative Partnership

SpaceX has yet to comment on this partnership — so there’s a chance that it might not even come to fruition. 

However, Reid said that GEC had been vying for the aeronautics company’s attention since 2018. It wasn’t until Reid taught a few of Musk’s kids at the Ad Astra school that the company heard his proposal, according to Insider. 

So take this all with a grain of salt. However, if it goes through, it’ll mark a rather foreboding milestone. After all, not even the stars and galaxies we all gaze at will be safe from the dark maw of capitalism.

Joeseph DiGenova and Roger Stone: separated at birth?

Joe DiGenova is an American attorney who served as the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1983 to 1988. He ran the persecution of Marion Barry for being Mayor while negro because the MAGA hat crowd that came to town with Reagan in 1981 really resented Home Rule because it got in the way of the corruption they wanted to import from Miami and Los Angeles (the Wall Street corruption was already part of the anti-Barry white DC establishment that found Barry inconvenient and included Donald T. Reagan of Merrill Lynch and his son-in-law, David A. Lefeve, who ran Merrill Lynch's International Desk from his offices at 1100 Connecticul Avenue overlooking Duke Zeibert's patio).

DiGenova claimed to be zeroing in on corruption in Barry's administration when, what was actually going on was a great deal of chaos from the Barry people fighting their way into an administrative construct owned and operated by the white southern Congressmen on the House Committee on the District and for their convenience and benefit. A lot of this goes back to my cousin, "Woody" Wilson, who brought his rancid self-righteous southern Presbyteran bigotry to DC as "original intent" Jim Crow laws that continue to shape DC's relationship with itself.

Very smart, WEB DuBose Kappa Alpha Psi kinda of determined Black Power political activists who made AOC possible. And DiGenova couldn't get actionable material on him because he was so obviously bought and paid for by the DC white establishment that he was Teflon.

Eventually, DiGenova gave up and got out of public service to collect his reward in private practice for services rendered like John Kasich and David Stockman, but, as part of the Roger Stone element of the GOP Deep State, he and his wife, another career femi-Nazi, kept their hand in the game as political activists and colluded with Jay Stevens and crypto-Nazis in the FBI to engineer a Soviet-style honey trap to compromise Barry for smoking crack.

Barry was betrayed by a black women with a murky relationship with the crypto-Nazi elements in DOJ. He went up to the woman's room for a quicky and if a little dope was an improtant element of the woman's foreplay, well, he wasn't one to be rude, if you see my drift.

And this is exactly the cultural incubator that created the Brett Kavanaugh generation of white male privilege inside the Beltway and have coalesced at the core of the Tea Party/MAGA coalition in the GOP Deep State that has common cause with Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, Mick Mulvaney, Bill Browder and the friends of the Russian Kleptarchy that sent the tanks to crush democracy that Yeltsin faced down and are enemies of Putin.

So, at some pretty blatant level, DiGenova has supplied an example of the sort of Fascst sophistry that defines all things associated with William F. Buckley, Jr., Newt Gingrich and, of course, Donald Duck Ass. This is the sort of logic that informed Jefferson Davis's theory of States Rights, the anti-Planned Parenthood business model of the Pro-Life business model and the Tory Socialism and class warfare of Reaganomics.

Are we going to turn this into a random drabble challenge? Let’s turn it into a random drabble challenge. I’ll pick the ship depending on the generator’s prompts.

Prompt: “There was a strange wailing sound coming from the next room”

(Warning: crypto-creepiness/horror????)

There’s a strange wailing sound coming from the next room.

Not again…he thinks blearily, glancing over at his phone on its stand. As always, it was a little past eleven. This had been happening to him for years now, going all the way back to his high school days. Not too long after…

He shakes his head and rolls over, bringing his pillow up to cover his ears. It doesn’t stop the wailing completely, but it muffles it enough for him to drown it out by breathing deeply.

Inhale…

Exhale…

Normally, he would stay out well past this hour and wouldn’t return until the apartment was silent and he was able to go to sleep uninterrupted, but there’s a game tomorrow and he can’t afford to be sleep deprived for it.

Another deep breath and he can just about convince himself that the sound isn’t there.

In his mind, he goes over the plays and imagines how he’ll score and all the points he’ll rack up. He imagines the crowd cheering, cameras flashing, reporters and recruiters all frantically scribbling in their notebooks to the side. All that noise will drown everything out and despite that, the only thing he’ll be able to hear is the blood rushing through his veins and the pounding of his heart in his ears.

Inhale…

And he finally drifts off to sleep.

The sound is back again and he wishes he didn’t leave the party early.

Briefly, he considers moving, but that didn’t help the last two times and he doubts a third time will work any kind of charm, no matter what anybody says.

The wailing is coming from the next room.

It always comes from the next room.

It was almost as if it was beckoning him to investigate but he has a sinking feeling that he’ll never recover from whatever happens, and so, he stays in bed and forces his eyes shut. Through his deep breaths, he convinces himself that everything’s fine—never mind that the wails sound just a little bit familiar and a little bit too frightened for his comfort.

Inhale…

The wailing stops.

The time has passed and the night is filled with silence once again.

Exhaling in relief, he lets himself relax and almost immediately succumbs to unconsciousness.

The strange wailing starts up again, but this time, he’s expecting it.

The day’s been hard and everything feels a little too raw. All he can do is pace around in his room restlessly, fighting the impulse to put an end to this once and for all and the desire to leave things be. He’s curious, but the fear and apprehension are stronger, but more than anything, he just wants to put a stop to the pain.

It’s been years but the feeling hasn’t eased up in the slightest.

Sighing, he stops and leans against the wall, ready to call it a night—ready to bid goodbye to yet another anniversary of that day—but then there’s a brief break in the cries.

He stops.

He holds his breath and wills his heart to stop pounding so loudly in his ears.

In the next room, there are hitched breaths and a faint, frightened whisper,

“Ao…i…Aomi…chi…”

Eyes widening, he bolts out of his room without a second thought and races into the next room. Through the slits of light streaming through the blinds, he can make out looming shadows of piled up boxes he never bothered to unpack after the move. Nothing seems out of place but then he smells it.

Stagnant water and decaying flesh.

The wailing starts again, disembodied and coming from every direction.

He spots a familiar figure huddled in the corner, unmoving except for their shoulders, shaking from silent cries.

With adrenaline coursing through his veins, he runs up and grabs the figure by the arm, the flesh ice cold and clammy to the touch. All he has to do is get them out of the room and they’d be safe, but the figure doesn’t budge.

The air is getting thicker and it’s getting harder to breathe.

He pulls harder to no avail.

The wailing gets louder.

His brain is telling him to flee but he refuses to let go—not again.

Taking a shaky breath, he starts coughing at the sensation of fluid entering his throat. Reluctantly, he releases the other to retreat to safety when an arm suddenly shoots out and pulls him back by the wrist.

Struggling to pull his hand free, he turns around to get better purchase for his feet when sees the other standing up. He lets out a surprised breath only to have his mouth filled with stale water. Out of reflex, he coughs again, but that only makes things worse and the world around him begins to blur, the wailing swollen and distorted.

As his vision fades, the last thing he sees is the figure turning around and that wide, empty smile.

Then in the darkness, he hears a voice in his ear, dripping honey-sweetness laced with ice-cold laughter, “Where are you going? You finally found me again, didn’t you? I’ve missed you. Don’t worry, we’ll be together for good this time, A~o~mi~ne~cchi.”

The wailing finally stops.

Vigenère Cipher - Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

The cipher disguises plaintext letter frequency

Like most other poly alphabetic substitution ciphers the main idea was to create a cipher that will disguise letter frequency which greatly interfered frequency analysis methods

Largely uncrackable without knowledge of methods

Without knowing the Kasiski method or the Friedman test it is incredibly difficult to find the key other than through brute force methods

Literally unbroken for 300 years

Large key space

The key space is 26k where k is the length of the key

With just a key of length 10 you would reach 141167095653376 different keys

Weaknesses

Repeating nature of the key (largest weakness that leads to other weaknesses)

Because the key repeats it makes it much easier to guess the length of the key. Using Kasiski examination and the Friedman test the length of the key can be found much faster than brute force methods

One could just go a bit more and use a one time pad or a running key cipher (basically a Vigenère cipher however the key is longer than the message, usually a sentence from a book or something similar)

Kasiski Examination

This is a method of attacking poly alphabetic substitution ciphers

Published by Friedrich Kasiski in 1863 however also independently discovered by Charles Babbage in 1846

This method involves looking for strings of characters that are repeated in the ciphertext. The distance between these repeated strings will likely give you a multiple of the length of the key.

Finding more of these repeated strings will narrow down the range of the possible lengths of the key as we can find the grates common divisor of the distances

Once you find out the length of the key you can now just split the ciphertext into the lengths of the key and place them in a column each column of the ciphertext can be treated as a monoalphabetic substitution cipher which you can solve through frequency analysis.

Friedman Test

Friedman test (also known as the kappa test) uses the fact that the unevenness of letter distribution due to the polyalphabetic substitution cipher will create a different index of coincidence from what is to be expected from normal English (other languages work as well)

This above will give you the approx. key length

Where k­­p is probability of 2 randomly chosen letters are the same (0.067 for English)

Where kr is the probability of a coincidence for a uniform random selection from the alphabet (1/26 in English)

Snapchat Story Styles

As part of social media platforms to visit for possibly a deliverable, I came past Snapchat stories which are widely used and watched by younger generations which would be a great place to instigate as using this platform for our idea would help us reach an audience.

For this idea, I wanted to look at some of the styling and imagery that other businesses have used to forward their stories or products to their specific Snapchat audience.

The Sun

The sun’s Snapchat story appears to be very image based but also we large text which is coloured in a way to be bold and to stand out so that it's easily readable to the eye.

Some of the imagery has a small amount of graphics like in the above example there is a target graphic illustration in the background that mimics the story therefor making it relatable to what the person is reading.

Stay Tuned

Stay tuned I've noticed to be very video moving image orientated rather than still image photographs, the images are displayed with a title rather than I small index meaning that if you wanted to read more you had to scroll up to read about the story more.

What I like a lot about this style is how they use multiple images on one slide giving you a full look at what's going on in the story.

Kappa Crypto

Kappa Crypto has more of a graphical and experience approach rather then a continue reading article, like the other examples I've used so far, they still use image pictures in the background but with large and bold titles that tell a story while the slides continue to move across.

I really like this approach more than the others because it tells a story as you watch the Snapchat feed rather than having to scroll up, opening another page and finding out the story that way, using Snapchat the experience of that story, 

Daily Mail

One of my favourites of all of the Snapchat stories I came across, the use of the imagery and the imagery text works incredibly well against each other. The use of the bold and bright colours against the images really makes it stand and pop out ad the viewer.

As well as the colouring of the boxes against the images the text in contrast either white or black works really well against the boldly coloured background making the readability of the text well received by their younger audiences.
