Kartarpur Sahib Corridor On India-Pakistan Border Reopens For Pilgrims; Here’s Why The Gurudwara Is An Abode Of Peace Near the India-Pakistan border, lies an abode of peace that almost blurs the differences between the two nations. Known as Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, this is believed to be the last home of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev and lies in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. The gurudwara is so close to the border and it is even visible from India. The rare aspect about this Gurudwara is that it allows Indians to cross the zero line without a visa. One however needs to convert the currencies after crossing the border to purchase anything from the market near the gurudwara. A Celebration Of Peace And Harmony According to folklore, the Kartarpur town was founded by Guru Nanak in 1515 and also a community kitchen, or langer was set up. He had lived for 18 years in the town until his demise on September 22, 1539. Thus, the Kartarpur Gurudwara bears a special significance among Sikhs. It is around 5 kilometres away from the India-Pakistan border. The idea of the Kartarpur corridor was proposed by the governments of the two nations in 1999. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had inaugurated the Kartarpur corridor in November 2019 on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. Indians Need To Register On Government Portal For Visiting The Gurudwara Those visiting the gurudwara from India might forget for some time that they are in a different country. As the people of the two nations look alike and they also speak the same language. The only thing that is different here for the visitors of the two counties is the colour of their cards. Indians are given yellow cards, and Pakistanis receive red cards. Pilgrims visiting the gurudwara from India now can register themselves on the online portal of the Government of India, prakashpurb550.mha.gov.in. They will get the confirmation via e-mail and SMS three to four days before the date of travelling. An Electronic Travel Authorisation will also be created.. . . . History Of The Key Pilgrim Passage Between India and Pakistan
History Of The Key Pilgrim Passage Between India and Pakistan
New Delhi: More than 20 months after the Kartarpur corridor was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a jatha of Sikh pilgrims from India crossed over to Pakistan on Wednesday ahead of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. Pakistan had issued around 3000 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims on the eve of the 552nd Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev from November 17-26. “They [the jatha] will visit…

Kashmir should be returned to India challenge
Tumblr media
It is hard to disagree with UN Secretary-General António Guterres’s assertion that Pakistan and India must discuss the Kashmir issue and that any military confrontation between the two South Asian states will result in “a disaster of unmitigated proportions”.
Pakistans Unreasonable occupation, multiple wars, state sponsored terrorism has to stop
Pakistan has no claims on Kashmir on any grounds. India has claim on Pakistan, being a part of India taken from it at its weakest moment using British Divide and Rule Tactics
Any Land or Deal done by China with Pakistan, should also get approval from India. As Pakistan is a Temporary Tenant squatting on Land that belongs to the Indian Sub- Continent. Which is a geographical entity Pakistan is currently running all over the world pillar to post asking for people’s good graces to talk to India which has absolutely no value.
Pakistan continues to be a Buffer State and has performed her job admirably against Russia and Now sucking up the Chinese Invasion of the Indian Sub-Continent. Using her Radicalized population as a Poison Pill.
Replying to a question during a press conference in New York, the UN chief added that “our good offices are always available” in case the parties wanted to avail themselves the option to discuss the problem. However, the issue here is that Mr. Guterres’s offer can only bring results when both parties are interested in a negotiated settlement to the dispute. When one side — India — keeps harping on the same tune, insisting Kashmir is an ‘internal’ matter, which is true there is little that third parties can do. The discussion should be about the return of Land occupied under the name of Pakistan
Without doubt, the lack of progress on the Kashmir dispute has poisoned the atmosphere in South Asia since independence. Tensions in the disputed region have resulted in several wars and numerous skirmishes. Pakistan, for its part, has always offered to negotiate a solution that is acceptable to the Kashmiris. Since all other methods like War and State-sponsored terrorism has failed. but has mostly been rebuffed. The present federal government has also offered to take steps towards peace if India reciprocates, while Islamabad has tried to improve relations through people-to-people contacts.
The opening of the Kartarpur Corridor is a case in point. In the use of Divide and Rule tactics – against the Hindu Sikhs and Hindu India. However, the Indian response, particularly under the BJP’s watch or any other watch, to these overtures has been less than enthusiastic. There have been consistent attacks along the LoC against Pakistani Infiltrators, leading to a high number of civilian casualties, while the Indian misadventure of 2019 in which New Delhi’s jets (one of which was shot down) violated Pakistani airspace, is a prime example of the brinkmanship this country’s eastern neighbor has indulged in ever since the BJP took the reins of power. And of course, matters in India-owned Kashmir have been further complicated after India annulled the region’s unjust special constitutional status in August 2019, in effect to crush the Kashmiris’ aspirations for freedom and dignity. In such a situation, India has clearly shown that it is not ready to give up its Lands.
However, Pakistan should continue its efforts to resolve the issue peacefully because a military confrontation in this region has not worked and would be devastating, as the UN chief has observed. But for peace to succeed, the UN, as well as global powers, must realize that India needs to challenge its belligerent neighbor.
It is not only Pakistan that has been having trouble along its border with India; the recent clashes on the India-Chinese frontier show that New Delhi is in an aggressive mood and wants to defends its lands and keeps standing up to its neighbors.
There is still a chance to bring peace to South Asia if Pakistan responds positively to the return of Pakistani occupied Kashmir.
However, if the politicians and generals in Pakistan can keep making warlike noises and threatening India, they should understand that India can and will defend itself.

Pak arbitrarily transferred management of Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara, violated UNGA resolution: India
Tumblr media
UNITED NATIONS: India has strongly hit out against Pakistan for arbitrarily transferring the management of the Sikh holy shrine Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara and violating an UN General Assembly resolution, saying Islamabad’s move goes against Sikh religion and its preservation and protection. In November, Pakistan transferred the management and maintenance of the Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara from the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to the administrative control of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, a non-Sikh body. “Pakistan has already violated the earlier resolution on Culture of Peace passed last year by this very assembly. Last month, Pakistan arbitrarily transferred the management of the Sikh holy shrine, Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara, from Sikh Community body to the administrative control of a non-Sikh body,” First Secretary in India’s Permanent Mission to the UN Ashish Sharma said in the UN General Assembly on Wednesday. Sharma said this act goes against Sikh religion and its preservation and protection. Sharma said the General Assembly would recall that the holy Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara finds mention in its resolution of December 2019. “That resolution stands violated by Pakistan,” he said. The UNGA resolution ‘Promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace’ adopted in December last year “welcomes the initiative to open up the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in the spirit of interfaith harmony and peaceful neighbourhood, and appreciates the agreement between the Governments of India and Pakistan to allow visa-free access to pilgrims of all faiths, especially ‘Nanak Naam Levas’ and the Sikh community from across the world, as a landmark initiative for interreligious and intercultural cooperation for peace.” India in November called Pakistan’s decision as “highly condemnable”, saying it runs against the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. “This unilateral decision by Pakistan is highly condemnable and runs against the spirit of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor as also the religious sentiments of the Sikh community at large,” India had said.

Kartarpur Corridor- Opening the Doors to The Heaven of Sikhs
Tumblr media
A historical day which is going to be one of the biggest achievements of Imran Khan; the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the moment which will be remembered forever. If you belong to any specific religion & not been able to visit that holy worship place and dying to go, but then it partially located at the other side of the country or sub-continent, and you are not allowed to go because of the conflicts, hate, differences between the two nations, how would you feel? well, the community of Sikhs from all over the world & especially from India had an emotional connection with this country because of Gurudwara; A place for Sikhs to worship.
Tumblr media
Guru Nanak (1469-1539) who was the founder of Sikhism, not only developed his own culture but studied Islam & Hinduism for deep understanding. This place located at Narowal District, in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. It is not just about the religion, it is about faith, about love, about peace & better built-in relationships. Further we will discuss its consequences, pros & cons, effects on nations, on people and much more but before that let’s discuss about how a one-step can change a whole game with dignity and faithfulness, The leader is meant to show the way, brighten up the way, making life easier for every religion and to accept the opinions for betterment. In Islam, humanity is first and then the rest, 10 months ago prime minister promised to Sikh community that they will open the borders for Sikhs to visit their worship place, and as per commitment, this promise has been fulfilled within 10 months. The inauguration ceremony for the Kartarpur corridor took place on 9th Novem
Tumblr media
ber 2019. It will allow pilgrims a rare-visa free visit. Pretty fascinating and emotional, right? It’s just like we Muslims get a chance to visit Medina for free for the rest of our lives. Covering the event: Many people including Former Prime Minister of India, Mr. Man Mohan Singh, famous celebrity Sunny Deol, former cricketer and current politician of India, and a very close friend of Imran Khan, Navjot Singh Sidhu came along with important dedicated people from Sikh community. Many of them addressed to the people while the ceremony was hosted by Faisal Javed and minister of foreign, Shah Mehmood Qureshi started it off with his dynamic speech where he delivers very strong words, and a message to Prime Minister of India, Modi to reconsider the problems of the innocent people of Kashmir that are fighting for their lives, for their rights. Navjot Singh’s speech was a mic drop moment, explained every point pretty well, completely focused to make the economy, political ideologies, human rights on the same path to utilize goodwill for better progress. Prime Minister of Pakistan seems to be very happy over his emotional speech where he not only praise his friendship with him but his leadership too.
Tumblr media
He said that Imran Khan won his heart today. While he finished his words Imran khan cheerfully clapped for his dear friend, seriously they set an example today we must say. Let’s come to the legendary speech of Imran Khan & the points that he has discussed; Wishes: First, He congratulated the Sikh community on this historic day of the inauguration, as it was a significant event because of the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Nanak Dev Ji. Emotional debate: He said that the feeling can be understood when you cannot visit your holy places. Probation for government: This inauguration is a testimony of commitments towards peace of the sub-continent. He believes that these two nations would come up together one day to work, to bring the prosperity back, and to make an economic system well enough to beat other systems. The message of Brotherhood: Though it was not a suitable occasion and was the happiest moment for every Hindu & Sikh community and every individual who has a strong faith and belief for Nanak Ji. But He manages somehow to deliver some words being a fighter. He again mentioned about the curfew from those innocent lives of The Heaven Kashmir and let them be the free birds. Since we are born as a nation, as a country. KASHMIR is said to be heaven which turns out to be the biggest nightmare for many of us. While India has failed. Failed to feel, failed to optimize, and failed to realize their state, the speech that MR IMRAN KHAN had delivered in United Nations Council was tremendous which got covered by so many famous top-rated magazines and news channels, but still, the resolution is unsolved. Curfew has not been lifted yet. Love & prayers: He thanked the government for their efforts that worked very hard to make this happen in reality, it was just a dream and now a complete reality. No one has even taken any action any responsibility regarding this case, we as a nation hold the power that we can fight for human rights that that is what we do, we not only support but also encourages such decisions. As discussed earlier, every historical decision has its own pros & cons; PROS: 1. Import and export would be better 2. Both nations can collectively think about the issues & can find the solutions too. 3. The message of love & peace. CONS: 1. It might create more differences for Sikhs in their own country. 2. Decisions might be taken against Muslims. Conclusion: In the end, we all know the debate that has been there for past 27 years for Babri Masjid. See there is the difference between our theory & the other theory, this is what Two Nation Theory is, and we are grateful to be the part of a country where love, preaching, equality is more important than anything. View: Modi’s move to engage SAARC on Covid-19 shows his capacity to surprise

View: Modi’s move to engage SAARC on Covid-19 shows his capacity to surprise
Tumblr media
By Kanwak Biswal, Former Foreign Secretary
Prime Minister Modi’s initiative to organise a videoconference of Saarc leaders to develop together a roadmap to fight the challenge of Covid-19 shows once again his capacity to surprise. Just when India was seen as downgrading the Saarc platform for stronger regional cooperation and promoting Bimstec, he has jolted Saarc back into life a bit. Sensing the need of the situation, he has again asserted India’s leadership role in the region by inviting other Saarc leaders to join him in addressing collectively the mounting threat of coronavirus.
Modi’s initiative had a delicate diplomatic aspect. An initiative with the framework of Saarc could not exclude Pakistan without inviting criticism at home and abroad for allowing narrow bilateral political differences to over-ride collective humanitarian concerns in the face of a pandemic. Inviting Pakistan, however, risked speculation that India might have been looking for an opening to re-engage Pakistan, which the Covid-19 threat provided, prompting the pro-dialogue lobbies in India to push for resuming political contact with Pakistan.
Tumblr media
One could well argue that the Covid-19 initiative was in the health context what the Kartarpur Corridor was in the religious context, which even saw two Indian ministers visit Pakistan without affecting India’s basic position that terrorism and dialogue cannot coexist. Modi’s initiative no doubt put Imran Khan in a spot. If he accepted it he would open himself to domestic criticism that after reviling Modi so brutally and taking an inflexible position on India’s recent decisions on Kashmir he was compromising, but if he rejected it, he would put himself in the false position internationally for rejecting an opportunity to engage with India, and that on a humanitarian issue that has implications for Pakistan’s own population. As one expected, he has fielded a health official to participate in the conference.
Its political dimension aside, Modi’s move is pragmatic. India has an open border with Nepal, visa-free arrangements with Bhutan, considerable movement across the India-Bangladesh border, easy movement between India and its southern Saarc neighbours like Sri Lanka and Maldives, as well as some traffic with Afghanistan. With Pakistan there is virtually no contact at present. Although the cases of coronavirus are very few in Saarc countries, for India to take the lead in devising cooperative strategies at this stage itself to contain the spread of the virus was essential. The Saarc countries can take steps of the kind India has taken externally and internally to contain the entry of the virus in Saarc territory, with exchange of information, avoidance of unilateral steps, and close cooperation at the level of health authorities.
Modi’s initiative fits in with UN Secretary General’s belated call for “unprecedented personal, national and international action” to control the pandemic. He was quiet when China inflicted this virus on the world and has reacted when the virus has got transmitted to Europe and the US.
The WHO could be accused of playing down the coronavirus threat under presumed Chinese pressure, not categorising it as a pandemic until the focus shifted away from China to Europe as its epicentre. China’s role in unleashing two pandemics in a generation needs highlighting. Pressure must be put on China for making its political system more transparent and ending some unhealthy habits of its society, given the country’s massive role today in the international system. We now have the WHO’s Ethiopian Director General lauding, ironically, the experience of China — the source of the pandemic — as an example of countries which have successfully prevented infections and saved lives through aggressive testing, contact tracing, social distancing and community mobilisation.

Sukhbir Badal urges PM Modi to take up transfer of Kartarpur shrine management to trust with Pak
Tumblr media
CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR: SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up with Pakistan the transfer of Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara’s management from a Sikh body to a separate trust and ensure restoration of status quo. The Pakistan government’s decision to establish a project management unit consisting of non-Sikhs has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community worldwide, Badal said in a statement. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president sought Modi’s intervention in the matter. He urged Modi to take up the issue with his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan and that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) be tasked with ensuring status quo is restored at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur at the earliest. “This is also against the ‘maryada’ (code of conduct) associated with Sikh shrines,” Badal said. He said the Sikh community views this decision as a direct attack on the religious rights of its members in Punjab. It is the first time that the management of a Sikh shrine has been taken out of the purview of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) and handed over to the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), he added. Badal also dismissed the Pakistan government’s reasoning that this decision was needed to rake in financial returns from the “project”. He said the Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara and adjoining land, which was tilled by Sri Guru Nanak Dev, are revered by millions as a sacred pilgrimage site. “The Pakistan government should not run it like a money-making project. It should also ensure the PSGPC manages the shrine to ensure prescribed ‘rehat maryada’ is absorbed,” he said. Badal also issued a personal appeal to Imran Khan, asking him to direct Punjab’s religious affairs ministry to scrap the nine-member project management unit and handover the shrine to the PSGPC. “Due financial and infrastructure aid should be given to the PSGPC to manage and maintain the holy shrine,” he added. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages gurdwaras of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, and the BJP also hit out at Pakistan over the decision. SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said the Pakistan government should review its decision, keeping in view the emotions of the Sikh community. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said this decision not only hurts the religious sentiments of Punjabis but also raises doubts about Pakistan’s motives as its army has always closely monitored the management of the gurdwara. “It is highly reprehensible that the new management committee constituted to run the gurdwara has no member from the Sikh community and is instead packed with Muslims,” he said. Earlier in the day, the MEA described as “highly condemnable” Pakistan’s decision to transfer the management of the Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara to the trust, saying it runs against the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara is located in Pakistan’s Narowal district across river Ravi, about four kilometres from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab. It is the final resting place of Sikh faith’s founder Guru Nanak Dev, who had spent the last 18 years of his life in Kartarpur. The Kartarpur corridor was thrown open last year in the midst of heightened tension between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue. The two sides had agreed on visa-free travel for Indian pilgrims to the shrine. The corridor was shut in March this year in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

Thank You Pakistan 🇵🇰!
Dal Khalsa launches Nanakshahi calendar of original version dedicated to Kartarpur corridor at Akal Takhat. Revert to original Nankshahi calendar, which is identity marker for the Sikh community : Dal Khalsa tells SGPC
Tumblr media
Amritsar, March 6, 2020: In a concerted attempt to step up its campaign to restore the original Nanakshahi Calendar, Sikh political party Dal Khalsa launched the year 552 calendar in its original form accepted by the SGPC general house and ratified by the Akal Takht Sahib in March-April 2003 but debunked by the SGPC executive in 2010.
The organization believes Kartarpur corridor as a landmark achievement for Sikhs hence it dedicated the calendar to it. Having the image of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurating the corridor on it, the Sikh organization availed the opportunity to thank the Pakistan for the same. Without mincing words, the leaders of the pro-freedom Sikh group said this calendar is a befitting reply to all those, who not only nurture bad-feelings about the corridor but also hatred against Sikh-Muslim bonds.
After performing ardaas at a simple ceremony at the Akal Takht Sahib, the Dal Khalsa leadership released the calendar of current year from Akal Takhat secretariat. During the release Dal Khalsa activists faced mild resistance from SGPC task force, who objected to the release of calendar from the secretariat premises. However, Dal Khalsa members stick to their stand and there were heated arguments between both sides. Later on, incharge of the Takhat secretariat intervened and expressed regret over misbehaviour of task force members and allowed the Dal Khalsa members to release the calendar from there.

“We are determined to restore the Nanakshahi calendar in its originality and to its pristine glory.” Dal khalsa believed that having a unique and separate calendar was vital for the integrity of the Sikh religion.
Party president Harpal Singh Cheema said the Nanakshahi calendar was the identity marker for the Sikh community and reverting back to Bikrami has triggered confusion. He asked the SGPC to revert to original Nanakshahi calendar to bridge the gulf within the Sikh community.
All faiths and communities have their own calendar as a mark of their distinct cultural identity. Under the garb of amendments, the SGPC executive in 2010 has killed the spirit and uniqueness of the almanac said
Cheema said the Akali Badal Dal, under the influence of a section of the Sant Samaj tactfully reverted to Bikrami calendar but deceitfully retained Nanakshahi its name.
Party senior leader H S Dhami said in 2003, the then Jathedar of Akal Takhat Joginder Singh Vedanti in consultation with SGPC general house and Sikh organizations implemented the Nanakshahi calendar. His successor Gaini Gurbachan Singh, who's remembered as disgraced jathedar reverted the calendar to Bikrami one under the dictates of Badals family. “As of now, the ball is in the court of the present incumbent Gaini Harpreet Singh to undo the damage done by his immediate predecessor”. "The SGPC and its appointed Jathedar must realize their role and responsibility to end the discord on calendar issue within the Panth" and added that till then they will stick to original version.

Taking to the media at press conference, spokesperson, Kanwar Pal Singh said, “Nanakshahi Calendar is a manifestation of distinct identity and a clear symbol of the “Sikhs as a separate people”, set up and nurtured by the great Gurus. We view the SGPC made amendments as “abject surrender in the face of the expansionist designs of RSS/BJP leaders aiming to subsume the Sikh religion.
The calendar released today not only has Gurpurab related holidays but also dates relating to the contemporary Sikh struggle.
Terming it a symbol of faith and bonds, the calendar carried a brief background of the corridor under the title from Ardaas to hug to becoming reality. "The long journey for Kartarpur corridor, which started with prayers passed through hopes and promises, despair and scepticism from time to time. The famous hug between Pak army General Bajwa and ex-Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu set the ball rolling. Pak PM Imran Khan’s googly ensured reluctant India agreeing to fulfill long cherished desire of Sikh Nation. With corridor becoming a reality on 9 Nov 2019, all designs and moves by the people in power that nurture hatred against Sikh-Muslim bonds stand defeated".
