Cannot emphasize enough how much I, as a fan artist and fan-designer/crafter, appreciate it when authors give characters convenient symbols to represent them by. It opens up vastly broader avenues of craft and art making.
#fantasy with heraldry is particularly good for this#Alanna’s lioness rampant and Kel’s owl over crossed glaives are a good example#but any symbol will do#like#gen’s hook or Irene’s hephestial crown#katniss’s bird pin is an in-universe example that also worked out-of universe
