F3: Aron takes maiden F3 win in Spielberg as he fights back in the Sprint
Paul Aron made up for the disappointment of losing pole to track limits by winning his first FIA Formula 3 race in the Spielberg Sprint Race. The PREMA Racing and Mercedes Junior Team driver fought back from eighth on the reverse grid to come through and take victory late on. Aron made a strong start, climbing up the order on an action-filled first lap in very wet conditions. He was up to third by the end of the opening lap and after several prior attempts, cleared ART Grand Prix’s Kaylen Frederick to move up to P2 and set up the fight for victory. F2: Alpine junior Martins untouchable in Spielberg qualifying Reverse grid pole sitter Josep María Martí had led every lap of the race until a mid-race Safety Car for a crash between Rodin Carlin’s Oliver Gray and Van Amersfoort Racing’s Rafael Villagómez. It set up a battle between Martí and Aron for victory. The Estonian made the move at Turn 3 on Lap 18, going three-wide with Martí and Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Gabriele Minì. The Alpine Academy junior then made his own move on Martí to secure P2. F3: Saucy on pole after Aron loses fastest lap in Spielberg Caio Collet was on the podium for the first time since Round 1, beating Martí and Zak O’Sullivan to the final podium place with a pass on the Campos Racing driver at the final corner on the penultimate lap. Things that make me fall in love with Kaylen Frederick
FIRST RACING MEMORY
"I can't remember how old I was, but my parents were watching an F1 race and they were big FERRARI fans, so they were trying to explain who Ferrari were to me. I just remember watching the cars go around. My parents were also into motorbike racing and they liked DUCATI. So to me, Ferrari and Ducati were the two best teams ever in racing. That’s my first real memory. I couldn’t tell you who was driving at the time because I’m not sure how old I was."

RACING HERO
“If I had to say someone, then it would be SEBASTIAN VETTEL. When I was really getting into karting, Vettel was at Red Bull and was always winning. My dad is German as well, so it makes sense. I also speak German, so that connection was there. I went to a German school for almost 10 years, from Kindergarten up until seventh grade. It was a private German school, and I went because my dad wanted me to learn German.”

FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BEING A RACING DRIVER
“When you have a bit of downtime, then you have the freedom to do a lot of things that a lot of people your age would not be able to do, if they were in university, in school, or working. You get to travel a lot and go to all of these cool cities. There are times when your schedule gets hectic and busy, but the travelling is cool, as is being a part of a team where you are constantly growing this relationship, surrounded by people who you get on with so well.”

F3: Saucy on pole after Aron loses fastest lap in Spielberg
ART Grand Prix driver Gregoire Saucy claimed his first Formula 3 pole position in a busy qualifying session at the Red Bull Ring. PREMA Racing and Mercedes Junior Team driver Paul Aron had been set to start from the top spot but lost his provisional pole time for exceeding track limits. Aron battled with PREMA team mate and Ferrari Academy Driver Dino Beganovic for the top spot for much of the session and looked like he had managed to win with his final flying lap. With the chequered flag waving, it appeared to be sealed until Aron was dropped down the timing screens to fourth, with several drivers penalised for various track limits violations. NEED TO KNOW: The most important facts, stats and trivia ahead of the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix Instead, a maiden F3 pole went the way of Saucy, who set his best time late on, going second quickest in the final seconds of a busy session. Aron’s demotion moved Beganovic onto the front row, with the Swedish driver missing out on pole by just 0.044s himself. Championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto also benefitted, moving up to third on the grid for the Feature Race. Further back, Caio Collet ended fifth for Van Amersfoort Racing after another track limits deletion, this time for Nikita Bedrin, who fell from P5 to P22. PREMA driver Zak O’Sullivan followed in sixth ahead of Williams Academy stablemate and MP Motorsport man Franco Colapinto. Oliver Goethe, Kaylen Frederick and Christian Mansell rounded out the top 10. FORMULA WHY: How important is the relationship between a driver and their race engineer? Fernando Alonso protege and latest F3 Feature Race winner Josep Maria Marti will start the Sprint Race from reverse grid pole for Campos Racing.
