Alleppey Boathouse

We stayed in a luxury alleppey houseboat for 1 day with my family & it was truly an amazing experience. We have been in Kerala for about two weeks and tried a lot of dishes from many restaurants but the food in houseboat was really fresh and tasted like heaven, the fish served was too fresh that we could resist ourselves from ordering more. We had a great time fishing and site seeing, they arranged an evening boat ride around the narrow canals which was amazing. My trip Alleppey backwaters

Corona has hit us hardly. I been wanting to experience house boat ride in Alleppey since Dec 2019. But alas look what happened in 2020. The pandemic just swept away all the hopes and dreams for the year 2020.Now that a year turns to history with most of us doing nothing but sitting at home either studying or working, with no outdoor fun, not even seeing friends and no shopping. Though only thing thankful was to be with the family for pretty good number of days and home cooked meals by mom.

Now that most of the tourist attractions are open. My wish to explore the Alleppey boat house came back. Finally after careful research I booked my trip through a tour operator at a very reasonable price. 

Houseboats in Alleppey are one of a kind unique travel experience to discover. The boat with thatched roof and wooden hull takes your back to the by gone years. These were used in olden days to transport the rice and other commodities and also a means of transport for people living along the cost. Also there is history of royal families spending quality time in these houseboats and travelling to different cities.

We had an awesome overnight stay in a 2 bedrooms houseboat. The cleanliness of the boat didn’t disappointed us. The houseboats were sanitized in frequent intervals. The food served by the onboard crew was lip smacking good. The stay just relaxed our mind and body, also gave us a everlasting memory of a family holiday.

📍STAY RECOMMENDATION IN KERALA - ALLEPPEY 📍 📍Private Houseboat Amongst the options of hiring a Shikara boat for 3 hours and stay at a hotel in Alleppey or book a houseboat for the ride as well as for stay, you know which one would be the obvious! 💸We booked this double storey AC 2-bedroom, 2-bath houseboat for 6 people costing us ₹2000/- pp (including lunch, dinner and breakfast with onboard cook) ⏰The houseboat ride starts at around 12-1 pm from Alleppey and continues in the backwater lake. After a short break for lunch onboard, ride continues till 5.30 pm (as post-5.30 pm cruising isn't allowed in Alleppey) and is anchored at a place where you can hop out to explore the place (only till the sunset). You can ask for Todi, a local drink, which we got for around ₹60/- for a litre. 📺Onboard entertainment included few local movie CDs and music system on the lower deck which had no AC but we ended up watching Netflix on the upper AC deck in the evening. 🥗With a view like that and the authentic local food served, you bet we were having the best time in Kerala!!
