Oh My God, Your Child’s Tooth Has Been Knocked Out
As a parent, it is really cute when your child tooth falls out on its own, but it’s not so cute when it gets knocked out!  A knocked out tooth can be really sore for the child, and can also result in long term dental problems if not quickly seen to by a professional dentist.
If you are in the UAE and ask a dentist what to do about a knocked out tooth, the response will be ‘Come in immediately.’ It is important to assess the child’s mouth and make sure everything is okay and it is important to ensure that the injury is not going to result in an infection. While crooked teeth may be a result, so can an infection, and a pediatric dentist in Dubai may well recommend a set of antibiotics or just tell you how to care for the mouth to ensure that infection does not set in.
Tumblr media
While accidents do happen, which is why they are called accidents, a dentist in Dubai will also tell you to do your best to prevent accidents. If you are a mother or father you are probably rolling your eyes because it’s impossible to stop kids from being kids. But there are certain precautions you can take, such as wearing a mouth guard while playing contact sports. Apart from that, you just have to tell your child to have fun and be careful!
Let’s get back to what happens when the tooth gets knocked out!  There will be a lot of blood because mouth injuries always result in blood. Don’t panic. Wash out the mouth, or get the child to rinse and spit and repeat until there is very little blood left. Obviously, if the injury keeps bleeding, get to casualty or call your dentist Dubai as soon as you can.
Once you have settled your child and assured yourself that he does not need to go to casualty, make a dentist appointment for fairly soon.
Tumblr media
Teeth that are prematurely knocked out, especially if they are second teeth, will need to be fixed. A pediatric dentist in Dubai will tell you what has to be done as there are several options. If it is a first tooth that is knocked out it may not be as serious, but a dentist in Dubai will still need to do an assessment. Make an appointment with your dentist at the American Medical and Dental Centre, if you feel it is an emergency then ask for an emergency appointment, and get your child’s teeth seen to.
Kids with missing teeth are cute and look cute, no matter if the tooth has fallen out naturally on its own, or if it has been knocked out. But - a missing tooth, especially when caused by an accident, can result in future oral problems. This is why you don’t just rinse out the mouth and get on with life, but ensure you see the right dentist. If your child is young, you want to see a pediatric dentist who has an excellent understanding of children’s mouths, behaviour and emotions.
Tumblr media
As we know, children need to see dentists on a routine basis to ensure good oral care. We also know how important it is they see the right dentist. You want the first appointment, any further appointments, and emergency appointments, to go smoothly and without any drama. This way, your child will look forward to their next dental appointment and will take care of their teeth through to adulthood, and more!
There are various stages in your child’s tooth development. Most babies start getting their first teeth around six months or so, although it can be earlier and it can be much later.  Even before first teeth pop out, it’s a good idea to keep your baby’s mouth clean and their gums clean, by using a warm but sterile and soft cloth. As teeth start coming through, keep doing this and ensure it is a lovely bonding process. As and when you are ready, make an appointment for your children to have their dental checkup. Your dentist will probably suggest six monthly routine checkups. You are going to see first teeth come and first teeth go. You are going to see teeth getting knocked out. You are probably going to go through an orthodontic process. And hopefully you won’t see cavities, if your oral care is good, but you may!
Tumblr media
A good dentist will see you through all these stages in a kind, gentle and professional manner.  Any time you feel anxious about our child’s oral development, ask for professional advice from your dentist Dubai. The American Medical and Dental Centre have an excellent team of dentists that include pediatric dentists, oral hygienists, dental specialists, orthodontists and cosmetic dental surgeons. The team is highly trained and professional, efficient and excellent at their work, their communication skills and their treatment plans. They also all have an excellent manner with their clients, putting them at ease.  Pediatric dentists in particular must have an excellent bedside manner and you will find this, and more, at the American Medical and Dental Centre in Dubai.
So!  If your child comes running off the sports field with a tooth that has been knocked out, or falls off the jungle gym, gets into a fight although you hope not, or falls off his bike and loses his tooth, you know what to do.  Rinse, clean, stop the blood flow and get to the hospital if you cannot, or get to your dentist for the best treatment plan!

Best Dubai iftar options for Ramadan 2019
Where to break the fast this year – from traditional buffet to set menus.
Tumblr media
During Ramadan, iftar is the meal that breaks the fast after sunset each day – and there are hundreds to choose from across the city.
While many offer traditional Middle Eastern buffets, others feature contemporary set menus to be shared with family and friends.
The fast is usually broken with dates and a small drink of water, juice or Arabic coffee. Prayers are then undertaken and iftar is served – usually starting with soup, followed by rice, salads, grilled meats and more.
While many restaurants serve iftar, Emirati families often put on big evening – and you’ll even see tents popping up outside big villas.
As a reminder, the Ramadan 2019 dates are expected to start on Sunday May 5 and go on until Tuesday June 4 – although that’s subject to change because the dates are determined by the sighting of a new moon.

COVID-19: Doctors urge residents to have their Vitamin D levels checked
Vitamin D deficiency is estimated to be current in round 90 per cent of the UAE inhabitants Picture Credit score: Pixabay
Abu Dhabi: Since residents in he UAE have been staying indoors for nearly 60 days now due to motion restrictions within the nation in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to negligible publicity to daylight, they might effectively undergo from Vitamin D deficiency, medical practitioners have warned.
The worldwide coronavirus outbreak has seen fewer individuals go to hospitals and clinics for illnesses aside from these associated to COVID-19. Consequently, hospitals and clinics have registered a major drop in individuals searching for consultations for Vitamin D deficiency.
Analysis exhibits that 90 per cent of the inhabitants in UAE suffers from Vitamin D deficiency. Physicians within the nation have suggested residents to preserve the consumption of supplementary dosages for Vitamin D, whereas staying indoors, and telecommunicate with their docs as and when required.
Talking to DailyKhaleej, Dr Satish Chandra Kini, specialist Inside Drugs at NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain, stated: “We routinely receive patients with Vitamin D deficiency. But lately, the numbers are lesser as many patients refrain from visiting hospitals due to restrictions over COVID-19. We try to be in touch with patients through our teleconsultation services and advise them favourable treatment modules.”
He additional stated: “Definitely, the incidence of Vitamin D deficiency will increase amongst the residents while staying indoors for a long duration, coupled with lack of enough physical activity and a wrong dietary regime.”
Dr Kini added: “This will increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, asthma, cancer and weakened bones. Vitamin D could also play a role in the prevention and treatment of a number of conditions, including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, glucose intolerance and multiple sclerosis.”
Dr Ayesha Khaled, marketing consultant, Household Drugs, from Burjeel Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi, stated: “Our body can’t produce Vitamin D if we merely sit indoors by a sunny window because ultraviolet B (UVB) rays (needed by the body to produce Vitamin D) can’t get through the glass window pane.”
She stated: “It is not something that patients actively enquire about. A lot of patient focus has shifted towards coronavirus and how to prevent their family and themselves from contracting it. But we should also look after our general health.”
Dr Manoj Kumar Jangid, specialist, paediatrics at NMC Royal Hospital in Dubai, stated: “With the current situation, we all are forced to stay indoors for our safety, but poor exposure to sunlight increases the risk of Vitamin D deficiency, which may lead to poor mental health including anxiety, depression and problems with immunity besides weaker bones.”
Vitamin D deficiency signs amongst kids
Many individuals with low Vitamin D don’t have signs, however kids with low Vitamin D can get bone and muscle ache, he cautioned. “Low Vitamin D can lead to soft bones, causing rickets in children and osteomalacia in adolescents and adults. In rickets, bones can bend and cause ‘bow legs’ or ‘knock knees’. Low Vitamin D can also lead to low calcium levels, which can cause muscle cramps in children and even seizures (convulsions), particularly in babies,” Dr Jangid defined.
Individuals in houses with balconies or people who obtain direct daylight ought to spend between 30 minutes and an hour to accumulate this vitamin. If one is susceptible to sunburn, go for a shorter publicity interval, Dr Jangid suggested.
Vitamin D deficiency is estimated to be current in round 90 per cent of the UAE inhabitants, in accordance to research carried out by Dubai Well being Authority (DHA) in 2017. That is anticipated to worsen throughout lengthy days of staying indoors, he stated.
Dr Yasser Nakhlawi, marketing consultant in paediatrics and director of Scientific Affairs at Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai: “If left untreated over time, Vitamin D deficiency can lead to critical bone issues. For instance, extreme and long-term Vitamin D deficiency could lead to rickets or osteomalacia.
The really helpful every day consumption of Vitamin D is between 400 worldwide items (IU) and 600 IU for many wholesome people. These within the high-risk class for Vitamin D deficiency might have to take a complement, he stated.
Dr Igbal Mubarak Sirag, specialist, inner drugs, at Bareen Worldwide Hospital in Abu Dhabi, stated: “Staying indoors for 60 days may result in a significant decrease in a person’s exposure to sunlight. Accordingly, this may result in a significant reduction in the synthesis of Vitamin D in the body.”

Signs range from particular person to particular person. Most are asymptomatic. Nevertheless, a couple of could have signs like physique ache, bone and joint ache, again ache. Extreme instances could lead to osteoporosis, osteomalacia. Vitamin D deficiency happens when the physique doesn’t have sufficient Vitamin D to correctly soak up the required levels of calcium and phosphate. Gentle to reasonable Vitamin D deficiency can lead to bone ache and weakening of the bones (osteoporosis). This might make you extra susceptible to fractures in case of a fall. Extra extreme levels of deficiency can lead to the event of rickets in kids and osteomalacia in adults.
How to preserve optimum degree of Vitamin D
Vitamin D is just not simply present in all meals objects. It’s largely present in animal, dairy merchandise, oily fish akin to salmon, mackerel, sword fish, herring, tuna and sardines, in addition to in purple meat, egg yolk, mushrooms and cod liver oil.
To make sure that the physique generates sufficient Vitamin D, a minimum of two-thirds of the human physique ought to be uncovered to daylight for two-to-three hours every day.
