Kids Summer Movies Begin Tomorrow Morning at Marquee Cinemas at The Highlands

For the next eight weeks, a pair of family films will be showing free of charge to the public at the Marquee Cinemas at The Highlands. The first two movies, “Minions” and “Despicable Me,” will play at 9:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and those films will be followed by two new ones each week through July. “The family films are something our company has done for a few years for local parents and their children, and I can tell you it’s very appreciated here at The Highlands,” explained manager Mary Jo Dominquez. “The family films also is a reminder of all of the great movies we play here through the week and on the weekends, too, and the cinema experience is not something that can copied at home. “We have been upgrading our equipment to get everything ready for the summer months,” she reported. “There are 14 speakers in every theatre we have here, so the sound for every movie is exactly the way the directors and the producers intended it to be. And that makes all the difference, really, because you can really feel what’s taking place in the film.” At tis time, the Marquee Cinema at The Highlands is playing “Deadpool & Wolverine,” In a Violent Nature,” “Summer Camp,” “The Dead Don’t Hurt,” “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” “Sight,” “If,” “The Strangers: Chapter 1,” “Tarot,” “The Fall Guy,” “Unsung Hero,” Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire,” “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” and “The Garfield Movie.” “Our theatres always offer a little something for everyone, and we’ve started the month fo June that way for sure,” Dominquez insisted. “And more and more new movies have been coming out because we’re still recovering from the pandemic and that whole situation. But there are a lot fo great films out there right now. “The kids love coming here and they really have a lot of fun with he movies that are selected,” she said. “These two movies – ‘Minions’ and Despicable Me’ – are films kids can watch over and over and they are going to love it every single time,” she added. “The free movies are our way of giving back to the community, and of course, all of the snacks and beverages will be available, too, so the kids can have the full movie experience here at The Highlands.” Read the full article
