I decided to do video game fandoms, just to change things up a bit. In alphabetical order by fandom just 'cause. 😉

Now, I already knew that Neil Newbon was the voice and motion capture actor for Heisenberg (Resident Evil Village) and Astarion (Baldur's Gate 3) but I had nooooo idea he was the motion capture actor for my beloved Nyx Ulric (Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV)! The utter sound I made when I saw him acting out Nyx's part was just...

Yeah, it was something, lol!

Ahem. Anyway, Aaron Paul is Nyx's voice actor for the English version and Neil does voice a separate character, Petra Fortis (4th row down, right side), so I suppose that's why I never realized that connection.

Kingsglaive Timeline

We all know the timeline for FFXV is a little fuzzy at the best of times, but we thought we would go over what we know of the timeline of the movie. Unfortunately, there are only a few indications of hard dates in Kingsglaive, but we can make some educated guesses at the order of things, at least.

Unknown - Drautos gives briefing to Regis, Ardyn arrives with ultimatum

Unknown - Kingsglaive finds out about the treaty, Crowe is given her mission

Unknown - Crowe leaves on her mission, Chocobros leave on their road trip

May 14th - Luna arrives in Insomnia, Libertus and Nyx find out about Crowe, Libertus leaves

May 15th - Nyx gives Luna Crowe’s hairpin at the party, Luna is kidnapped by Glauca

May 16th - The day of the treaty and fall of Insomnia

First the hard dates we know. The treaty is signed on May 16th, with the attack happening that evening and into the night, with the movie ending at dawn on May 17th. The party on the roof, where Nyx passes Luna Crowe’s hairpin, is the evening before, so that makes it May 15th. Luna mentions meeting Nyx the day before, so that makes May 14th the day Nyx escorts Luna to Regis, Crowe’s death is revealed and Libertus leaves the Kingsglaive. A busy day!

That gives Libertus one day, May 15th, to get with the resistance and help them plant bombs, which seems quick, but maybe he knew them beforehand. 

Beyond those dates, we have educated guesses that we’ll go through in order. 

We see Drautos give a briefing to Regis, and perhaps the rest of the Council, in the throne room just before Ardyn shows up with the ultimatum about Noctis’ engagement. When we see Nyx meet up with the others at Yamachang’s, Luche seems to know about Ardyn’s visit and terms though the others don’t, so presumably this takes place the same day Ardyn visits or very shortly after.

How much time do you think they got between coming back from the opening battle and Drautos’ briefing/Ardyn’s arrival?

The rest of the Kingsglaive find out about the treaty when it gets announced on the news, Drautos gives them their briefing and sends Crowe on her mission. Whether this is the day after Arydn shows up or a few days later is anyone’s guess.

In Parting Ways, the audio drama prologue, the treaty date has not yet been set, but Libertus does know the terms of the treaty, so this sometime after the briefing. Unfortunately, there’s not any more clues to definitively place the audio drama as anywhere but after the Kingsglaive briefing but before Luna shows up on May 14th.

Sometime before May 14th, Crowe leaves on her mission and is killed. How many days did she get to prepare? How long does Drautos give her to get to Tenebrae and reach Luna? When her body is discovered and transported to the Citadel, how long has she been dead? Given that her body appears to still be in rigor when she’s found, that implies she hasn’t been dead more than 24 hours, which would put her death sometime on May 13th at the earliest. 

How long does it take to get to Tenebrae, anyway?

There are so many questions about the timeline of events that the movie just doesn’t answer. Fortunately, that’s what fanon is for. Please let us know your thoughts!
