Here's a post with tips for writing your own image descriptions.

If you have Flatland OCs you regularly post art of, and would like to help me at least tag them properly, here are the tags I use for this blog, saved to a notepad for easy copying and pasting as needed.

If you want to help, you can go through these and create a specific tag cluster for your different OCs for me to copy and paste.

Just pick out whatever here is relevant to your OCs, and put it in a paragraph, separated by commas. It should include their name, anything you think people would want to search for (like Queer characters), and if applicable, the title of any stories they appear in.

I have been considering adding tags for the shapes of each characters, so you can add that in as well. (Ie: Rectangle, Cube, Straight Line, Kite, ect)

Then you can send me the results in an ask, and I'll be able to save those to a document, so all I have to do when I reblog your OCs is copy it in and all the right tags will show up.

You can have each character's tags separated by a paragraph.

IE:

Billie: [paragraph of tags separated by commas]

Bomb: [paragraph]

Joe: [paragraph]

I'm not sure what the character limit is for asks these days, but feel free to send as many at a time as you can fit in an ask.

Including the names of the characters in your art whenever you post them will also help.

Know: How well does your OC know themself—their wants, their goals, their motivations? Do they engage in any sort of self-reflection? Is there anything about themself they willfully ignore?

DAICHI — dai engages in a lot of self reflection (largely through the letters he wrote to his dad) and he's pretty clear about what drives him and how he's feeling about things. what he wants is a lot harder. for him, goals have always been about Fulfilling The Needs Of Others. he was just reaching a point where he felt that maybe he was getting a handle on his own wants, but that nascent desire wasn't nearly enough to stop him from sacrificing himself to seal the abyssal portal, so. bummer.

VESPER — she knows herself pretty well! she's been her own closest companion for years, and that really begets knowing. her time spent with the inquisition only deepens that understanding

ANTICLEA — clea knows herself quite well. one of those things that comes with age and grief and time. gardener that she is, she spends a great deal of time working with her hands and letting her mind wander, and she's come to know herself—and understand herself, and forgive herself—in that way

Meet Strange: What's the most memorable way your OC has ever met a new person? Was it a good experience? Bad experience? Just plain weird? How's their relationship with that person now?

DAICHI — oh man. there have been a lot of weird first meetings what with the whole void-hopping thing. I'm inclined to say Prixoff or one of the other first meetings in wiztopia for the sheer "oh god we're on another planet" novelty. on the other hand, running into the king of Asdor while actively breaking his son out of prison was also pretty memorable and had the bonus of ozy doing whatever the fuck he was doing. daichi meeting the prince of the former regime back home when the guy stabbed him in the void, a place they definitely both should not have ever ended up? most of daichi's weirder introductions are with people he no longer interacts with, so. it's fine. (personally I'm looking forward to seeing the prince again)

VESPER — waking up in prison???? to leliana and cassandra's interrogation?????? there have been some other strange meetings with the Inquisition's inner circle but that one really takes the cake. (also the first time she met her aunt lucille at one of those summer fêtes. she was about eight or so and never saw anything so grand)

ANTICLEA — much like daichi, she's had a lot of weird first encounters while traveling around between worlds, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that her first meeting with Mil (her party's wizard) was the strangest way she's ever met anyone, and she once talked to a demon prince of the abyss. they're good friends and she loves him dearly but she worries about him. she really does.

Past: Does your OC have any past partners? How did the relationship(s) end? Are any of their exes still in their life, and if so, do they get along?

DAICHI — nope, no past partners. zaref's his first everything. dai hadn't ever been interested in anyone before, so zaref was incredibly unexpected. dai wanted to take him home to meet his dad :[

VESPER — answered! (yes, there was a bit of a situationship with another mage in the ostwick circle; he was sent away unexpectedly; she isn't sure what happened to him)

ANTICLEA — she had a few callers back in her day, many of whom still live in the town she grew up in. she's on amicable terms with most of them, but she's also been happily married for a century or so to a lovely halfling man named Tolla so that's all long past. she and her husband have lived apart since the death of their son—him in monrha, taking care of their grandson, and she in Selto, keeping an eye on their great grandson—but she's a circle of dreams druid, so they visit each other every night in their dreams

Future: Is there anyone your OC is looking forward to meeting or to seeing again? Who? What might that meeting or reunion look like?

DAICHI — his dad! his dad!!!!! he wanted to see his dad again so bad!! the worst thing he could imagine was leaving his dad without any word of what happened to him, which is why he was so meticulous about writing his letters—he kind of had a sense he would never make it home, but he was determined to let his dad know what happened. idk what that reunion would look like—he's gotta get out of the abyss and resurrected first—but I know there will be tears. probably from me.

VESPER — she was so excited to see her eldest brother again. he was her best friend growing up and she hadn't seen him since she was sent to the circle—had barely even heard from him, even. she was also so glad to see solas again in trespasser, even given the circumstances—he was one of her dearest friends and she loves him, and she's determined to save him from himself. post-game, she's looking forward to seeing dorian again, who is her best friend, and even if they talk daily it's not the same as having him a few stories up in the library. there will be lots of wine and gossip when that happens, and probably just as much magic nerd-dom. she's got to show him her rift magic arm!

ANTICLEA — she'd give anything to see her son again, but his soul was destroyed (she did it herself, to save him from being bound to servitude to some demon prince when he died during their escape from the abyss) so even after death, there's no chance she'll ever meet him again. she'd like to see her husband, I think—in the flesh, not just in dreams. to go home and be at peace. but she and her grandson are forever estranged (for the aforementioned sundering of her son's soul) so that's never gonna happen.

24. Are there any easter eggs in [insert fic], and if so, what are they?

I'm gonna answer this for Looking Through Glass, since it's my only fic of any significant length. I'm not sure there are any easter eggs, per se. There are a few things I included as tiny details, like Cottle's death and Ishay planning to name her son after him, or the wedding ceremony being the same between the Colonial settlers and their descendants, the OCs. I don't think it counts as an easter egg, but I did also hint that Lee and Layne were the direct ancestors of my OC characters.

I guess one thing that might be a true easter egg is that I directly modeled the characters of Bal, Asa, and Bran after Bill, Kara, and Lee. I didn't intend to suggest that they're reincarnated, exactly, but just that all this has happened before and will happen again. Asa flies a kite made to look like a hawk, which is a type of raptor. And then, the character of Mai was modeled after Laura, and I made a very explicit effort not to suggest that she and Bal would have a romantic relationship. But in the final chapter when Bal thinks of his wife, in my headcanon, it's Mai that he was married to.

26. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue?

Neither lol! That's a tough question. I think writing a fic with only dialogue would be much harder, but ultimately it would be my choice because it would feel much more dynamic. A fic with no dialogue would feel too slow and dull for me, I think. But my OTP, particularly Laura Roslin, are the type who say so much with the things they hold back. I'm not sure a dialogue-only fic for them would even be possible!

Ooh, fun. Okay, so one thing I love to do in my writing is draw inspiration from the natural landscape where I live, in the Great Plains. I don't get to do this often in general BSG fic, but in LTG I got to do it a lot, so you may notice that all my characters tend to live on a yellow prairie full of towering skies and white thunderheads, chest-high waving tallgrass, constant wind, and storms rolling away into the east.
