lara could feel their eyes burning on her, could spot them from the corner of her eye even though she was primarily focused on picking a drink from the refrigerator in the too brightly lit convenience store. it accentuated the clench of her jaw more than she would have liked, especially with someone watching her unashamedly when she was so obviously in a bad mood. "you're not getting a picture today, so don't even think about asking me for one."

With her face flush pink from wine, Rachel laid back on the bed, glancing over at the other, it was ill-advised of course, her husband was downstairs at the party while she had snuck up to a near-stranger's hotel room. "i'm going to go with honey if it matches my overall energy," he can be decisive when in the right mood and it's safe to say this sleepover had lifted his spirits immensely. whilst he wasn't new to sleepover, often spending time with his best friend's kian and archie, it's safe to say it hadn't happened recently and it certainly hadn't ever included a pretty woman. he doubts he'd get any sleep if that had been the case, far too petrified that he'd embarrass himself by talking in his sleep. that fear hadn't dissolved, he was just trying to take a leap of faith, for once in his miserably boring existence. "it doesn't have to be the only time you paint my nails, either - blue can be the next sleepover's colour." he adds on, teetering over that line that dictated whether they were mere friends having a one-time sleepover, or if it would become a regular occurance, with their friendship growing and potentially (hopefully) becoming something else entirely. something more.
