Chapter 8

Summary: For Kagome Higurashi, the winds of change blew fast and hard, leaving her tossed about and her world upside down. They were best avoided. But sometimes change comes on the gentle currents of a warm breeze, and before you know it you’ve gone too far down stream to turn back. She should have known; She’d always associated Koga with wind.

Note: HOOOOOOO BOY. Listen. I never ever ever intended to drop this fic like this. I have lots of chapters written and waiting but Life got real intense for a while And sometimes that’s just how the cookie has to crumble. But we’re back in action.

“The hell you are!” Inuyasha shouted, hand gripping tessaiga’s hilt, ready to draw it at a moment’s notice.

“You’re damn right I am! If you’re gonna be protecting that miko, then someone needs to be around to protect this one.” Koga replied, pointing at Kagome.

“Koga I can take care of myself.”

“Absolutely not!” He yelled, and Kagome felt her ire bloom. “The monk and Taija have each other’s backs. Inuyasha and his Miko have each other’s… but who’s gonna have you’re back, Kagome?”

She looked at the ground and considered.

That made a lot more sense than an insistence that she needed a baby sitter, even Inuyasha had trouble refuting such a claim.

“I can protect them both!” He tried, but Sango and Miroku both jumped to counter that Koga’s claim had a lot of merit, and the Inuhanyo’s eyes widened in both shock and rage.

“Now wait just a damn-“

“Alright!” She cut into the maelstrom, “alright Koga, you can come. And Ginta and Hakkaku, too, when they catch up. I think it’s a good idea.

Sango and Miroku shared a look she couldn’t decipher.

Kikyo barely blinked.

Inuyasha’s face went so red he rivaled fire rat, but Koga…

Koga glowed.

KogKag Week Day 2-human//demon (Ah i’m out of order)

So I haven’t ever uploaded a composition like this before, but celebrating my favorite human/demon couple seemed like a good call for the first time to be brave.

I could only get it uploaded through Google Drive (whoops 2:30 was too long of a file for finale)

So I hope you guys enjoy? I don’t normally share this kind of stuff, but I’m hoping it’s enjoyable at least :)

This is my composition. Feel free to share, but please credit me as you would any other artist.

Short explanation: We start slowly with a theme exploring Kagome, our cute little human new to the world around her. Her theme grows as her confidence does in the story. Quickly Kouga, our quick-footed demon, makes an appearance and crashes into her life. Before long, Kagome’s melody joins in with Kouga’s in almost a rush (the rush of falling in love, the rush of adventure, the rush of meeting each other and fitting together like puzzle pieces) and they mix together until finally we end with the sudden peace and calm of just being together and being in love-their themes (tenderly? Hopefully?) played together once more.

also i love dissonance and resolution, so there'a lots of that in here :)

FINALLY finished chapter Four of Mate!!!! Chapter is definitely longer than any of the previous, old and new, which makes me very happy but god, was it difficult!

So this is still just a brain thought, have not had a chance to flesh anything out really at all aha but, I was thinking of KogaxKagome for this, I feel like he would be an incredible contemporary/modern dancer and paired with Kagome. Probably like a 3 chapter story? No more than 5 for sure though. Not sure yet. Plot holes be strong in this one atm haha

I’d be pulling a lot of my own contemporary dance background for this. Might go into a bit of the toxicity rampant in the dance world and how they navigate it? Or how they’ve overcome it? So many questions lol

KogKag Week Day 4 (Past/Future)

Paralleling Day 3 (Kouga’s playlist/pov/feelings), we now have Kagome’s. I picked past/future for her because she’s pulled between both. This explores songs she might find catchy and subconsciously link to our handsome wolf demon, songs that I feel express feels connected to her, or songs that show her point of view in whatever time she is in. Some show her being lost in the future after the final battle (before Kouga finds her because he will) and either longing for Kouga or realizing her feelings, her stuck in the past and between Kouga and her feelings for InuYasha, as well as feelings to come in the future for her when she realizes she’s in love.

I tried to pick some that are not as common. List/some explanations below. Some I didn’t feel needed explanation. I definitely can say words about any if you ask though :) “Read more” not showing up on my blog, but definitely is on dashes. Sorry about that, guys! Not sure why!

1. Cut to The Feeling (Carly Rae Jepsen)

    It’s probably because I link this song with the fanfic “When Memories Fade” by lavenderswirl (check it out on ffn-i’ve found it to be a unique take on the characters as well as a new way to tell their story and explore a darker Kouga who doesn’t know why he suddenly likes this tiny human, after he’s been eating them for so long) (it also skips by a lot of tropes and problematic plots that come with “dark Kouga” which I’m thankful for).

2. Rather Be (Clean Bandit)

    Ah the first of a few songs I will echo or parallel over from Kouga’s playlist. This is fun, upbeat, and where would she rather be than with her man?

3. Elephant Love Medley (Moulin Rouge)

   (I am realizing a lot of Moulin Rouge ended up on these playlists)

    Just the process of Kouga convincing Kagome they should be together or maybe Kagome is watching the movie one day and thinks of her guy or their situation and is like “well shit. I kind of...want to try this out and date him hard.”

5. Wherever You Will Go (cover by Charlene Soraia)

    a female sung version of this. Also on the Kouga playlist.

6. Lightning (The Wanted)

    The first time they make out. Hardcore.

    (I am realizing a lot of this band made it on the playlists too. hope you enjoy?)

7. Somewhere Only We Know (cover by Darren Criss)

    Apologies for it being a glee version. I just feel Darren and the a cappella aspect add a lot of charm to this song. Kagome being lost and wishing for her people from the past.

8. Iris (cover by The Wanted)

    I link a lot of different parts of this song to a lot of different parts of “Unforseen” by @maddieson-san where Kagome’s feeling lost and needs somewhere to go (if you haven’t read it PLZ DO). She finds Kouga and he becomes a safe place for her. He helps her find a way to be happy.

9. Beauty and the Beast (BATB Original Movie)

    Ok so neither is a beast, but technically he’s a demon and Kagome would love this movie. He might have loved her immediately, but it took her some time. It also took some adjustments on both sides (ugh I’m just remembering the back half of the manga that the anime skipped and their relationship just had matured so much by that pointttttt) until finally they reached the point they could both come together.

10. Accidentally in Love (Counting Crows)

    Cause in some versions of how their story could go, Kagome’s gonna be like “well shit. I think I fell in love with him? How did this happen? What?”

11. Because You Loved Me (Celine Dion)

   Kagome’s love is her strength, but also the love given to her (by many, but Kouga in this case cause it’s KogKag week) gives her strength.

12. Right Hand Man (Something Rotten)

      Ok so old habits die hard and you know that occasionally Kouga’s trying to “be the man” and take care of everything and Kagome’s just like “sit DOWN YOU. We are MARRIED and this is a PARTNERSHIP. LET ME HELP.”.

13. Fight for Me (The Heathers)

    Look she can fight her own battles, ok. But when I see the pic from their first adventure (during the fight with the birds of paradise) where basically he’s telling off InuYasha about how great she is and Kagome’s just standing there all starry eyed, this is what comes to mind (I cannot find the pic, but I also didn’t have time to search real hard-sorry guys). Sometimes it helps to have someone who cares about you able to step in and help you.

    You can pry this song from my cold, dead hands.

   (I really did try to not put it on a playlist. I tried for approximately 30 seconds. But there is no escaping Everytime We Touch in shipping playlists)

    I ALMOST FORGOT THIS ONE HOW COULD I

    So I don’t super love the original mixing of this song by Emmy Rossum, but I feel like it really applies to Kagome when she gets dumped back into the future. So here is a recording I never give out-it’s my arrangement and my old a cappella group. I’m also the soloist, and I never really like performing as a soloist-just the writing of music, so this is a rarity for me to be brave enough to tell people to listen to it cause self conscious and all that DX. Please don’t mind us going sharp and I hope it’s aesthetically pleasing.

I know Inuyasha has been over and done with for some time now, but why isn't KougaxKagome not that much of a big ship? This pairing goes hard to me.
