Had so much fun making this short story.
It's about the comforts of reading a comic book after a hard day at work.
And yes, for the first time ever--gasp!--I wrote in Tagalog. It's quite refreshing to see Tagalog words on top of Seth Fisher-inspired art.
Played with a new kind of color scheme here, one that evokes indie graphic novels from the early 2000s.
It's obvious too that I got some inspiration from Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye series.
Make more Pinoy comics, friends!

Last July I was given the chance to table at PICOF2024, the first in-person philippine international comics festival and it was such a fun and busy event for me and my tablemates!! I made this comic inspired of the submissions in the Kometverse anthology where each artist had 2 pages to work on with either the Komiket or PICOF mascot.
I didn't actually get in Kometverse because we were invited on short notice and way past the deadline for the anthology lmao. I thought to make this anyway for my appreciation!!
The wips!

First Ever Book Haul from the Philippine International Comics Festival 2024!
Feeling like an exhibitor myself with all the comics I purchased! I wasn't planning on buying this much, but how can you resist in an environment brimming with so much passion and artistry for Filipino comics? It's impossible not to be moved, intrigued, and enticed to support.
This is only the second book festival I've attended, and I'm beyond elated. I feel incredibly lucky to live in a time where I can luxuriate in reading local narratives.
Special thanks to Sir Paolo Herras and Komiket for inviting me to the event. It's my first invitation as Pinoy Page Turners to such an event—what a milestone! A heartfelt thank you to Talk Bookish To Me PH for making the experience extra fun. Attending a book event with book club mates for the first time was a joy! Making friends in your mid-twenties is hard, let alone finding people who share your passion. And how can I forget my good friend and event champion, Daniella, for helping document my experience here at #PICOF2024?
A massive thank you to all the organizers, creators, writers, artists, artisans, patrons, and readers who made this event possible. Thank you for bringing PICOF to us. May more Filipinos and even more people from around the world discover these Filipino narratives.
I'll create a reel/video of my book haul soon, but for now, here's what I got from PICOF 2024:

Despite the gloomy weather, I went to Podium to check out Komiket Day 2. Once I figured out where Podium Hall was, I set out to locate the Tuttle Publishing/NBS booth. Found it right away and was able to get myself a copy of Mythology Class, which was signed and on sale. Woohoo! Also happy I got a free copy of the Kometverse anthology since I was there early. Went around the hall a number of times and saw lots of interesting stuff. All the artists were really nice too. ☺️
