"Angelo's Wild Vacation" (2023)

Originally I drew these illustrations after I had a nice daydream of going away to some vacation island where clothes were not allowed. Just pure blissful freedom & enjoying the serenity of the location. ❤️‍

It was only meant to be just one illustration but I kept having more scenario ideas and thus it became a sequential piece. I came up with 8 scenarios in total but these are the only 4 that I've actually finished. The rest have been stuck as WIPs for like 2 years. Who knows tho, I might go back to finishing the rest when I have the itch and free time for it.

NOT OKAY TODAY / WORTHY

The comic I wanted to post was the last art of 2024, but because of a sudden power outage, it is now a hybrid that started the "past year" and finished on New Year's Day. The text is not mine! This beautiful poem belongs to the author Jarod K. Anderson, who writes about themes such as mental illness and how one can cope with the aid of nature's lessons. I found this poem on Pinterest when I was trying to distract myself from recent awful moments, and it resonated with me deeply. It reminded me how GOOD I felt when helping people I care about by listening to their doubts, when I treated them well, or when we shared ideas together etc. And it became MORE meaningful when I was the one in need of that help... and these people reached without hesitation 💝. You really get what you give! This poem reminded me my kindness is always worthy to be shared. I wished to portray it in the form of art for everyone who needed to read it too!

I hope this New Year brings more kindness to everyone 💞

Shortly after my dad passed away and we were cleaning some items out, my mom told me this cute story from 2010 when she was sorting out some bags. She came across my dad’s wallet and found a scrap piece of paper with her old number written on it from when they had just started dating in 1995 back in the Philippines. Along with a little photograph of her, he had kept it in his wallet all those years! I thought that was really sweet and wanted to illustrate it. It’s easy to forget sometimes, because they’re my parents, that at one point, they were just a shy boy asking a pretty girl for her number.
