Floral Pavilion, New Brighton. Lomo LC-A. Konica Chrome R-100 (shot at 50iso. Developed at 100.)

The original Floral Pavilion was opened in 1913 as an open air theatre. An iron and glass roof was installed in 1925 and a permanent metal roof was fitted in the mid 1960's.

The old theatre was closed and demolished at the beginning of the 21st Century and reopened in 2008. The views over the River Mersey estuary are stunning.

The Ricoh GR1V doesn't offer an in camera multiple exposure option, so I had to opt to reloading the film in the same camera after I exhausted all 24 frames in the first round for my doubles above.  It takes me quite some time to go through 24 frames these days, that by the time I reloaded the film for a second spin, I had forgotten what and 'where' I had captured. It was quite a pleasant surprise to develop the roll and see that the camera had traveled further than I could remember. Images shot in Cabo da Roca and Alfama were overlapped with those from Berlin and as far as Malibu from the end of summer 2018. I no longer recall where I picked up that old roll of Konica Chrome film but it did bring fond memories of cross processing the Kodak Elitechrome or Agfa CT Precisa way back in the day! The color pop is quite a welcomed characteristic of older slide film and works well in both bright and low light situations. Except for the last few precious rolls hidden in the depth of our film fridges, they're almost impossible to find these days. Ludlum Model 2221 Scaler/Ratemeter, with Ludlum 44-10 "high energy" gamma scintillation probe (2" x 2" NaI) Settings: High Voltage = 850V (middle of 500v-1200v range), Threshold (discriminator) = 10mV. These settings gave a background reading of about 4400 CPM, which is near the minimum that this probe is supposed to read for the background. I wonder if the NaI crystal is degraded? Method: The probe was placed horizontally on a table, with a small amount of lead shielding near the crystal. This reduced the background reading to about 1500cpm. The lens being measured was placed with the "hotter" end (front or back) downward, at the same level as the bottom of the probe. The lens was wide open (if possible), focused at infinity (if possible), and had both front and rear caps on (correct caps, when available). A 10 minute run with the 2221 scaler was done, and compared to 10 minute runs with no lens (background). In the table, the "xxx CPM", value is xxx = (C-B)/10, where C is the 10-minute count 100mm away from the lens, and B is the 10-minute (shielded) background count. The "[ppp%] is the xxx value for this lens compared to the xxx value for the 50mm f/1.4 S-M-C Takumar, computed as a percent. . Cains Brewery Village. Lomo LC-A. Konica Chrome R-100 (shot at 50 iso. Developed at 100.)

When plans to revive the Cains Brewery site on Stanhope Street where first mooted they included an "arthouse" cinema and a hotel. Nowadays it is mainly bars and food outlets.

In the early days there were some small bars with character and charm. These were quickly crowded out by bigger bars designed to get full of drunken revellers.

When I visited Blackpool a few months ago I was blessed with some rather bright weather. However, my LC-A began to malfunction. I am still not sure if I should get it repaired when I could sell it for spares and buy another one.

Aside from The Beatles Liverpool is also famous for football. back in May Liverpool FC where due to play in the Champions League final at the Stade De France. As a result there where more popup stores selling merchandise than usual.

Situated in a vacant lot on Jamaica Street the New Bird Skate Park was built and is maintained by local skaters. It has survived despite attempts to sell the land. Long may it remain.

Camera malfunctions are an unavoidable quirk of vintage photography. It was only when I was halfway through this roll that I realised it was not winding. I am not sure if the film came loose or if there is a problem with my Lomo LC-A. I hope it is NOT the latter as I am very fond of that particular camera.

Shooting on expired film is like a lottery. Results are not guaranteed and can vary wildly.

As I had a feeling it had not been stored in a fridge I set the iso meter on my Lomo LC-A to 50 iso but had the roll developed at 100.
