Six Sentence Sunday (2022/10/09)

Shura lingered by the bar counter and ordered a beer, but after the first sip he had not touched it again. It was the bare minimum of a disguise, but it seemed plenty to mask his presence. None of the children who frequented the club afforded him more than a glance, and those that did were either drunk or trying to judge if he would vacate his seat any time soon.

The air in the room was thick with smoke and blinking lights, and the resident DJ had the music thumping at an uncomfortably high volume. Shura had to focus in order to endure it. From the reflection he could see of his young goddess in the diagonal of the cracked mirror behind the counter, Saori was facing the same problem.

Best to worst art style? Manga and CGI movie included! P.S. take care of yourself, it's fine if you need to leave every once in a while!

Hades Chapter art style (Heaven Chapter: Overture included)

The classic style but taken up a notch, cleaner and better. But then again, I’m generally in love with Shingo Araki’s drawing style, so there’s that. 

Classic art style (movies included)

In second place just because it’s less clean than Hades, there’s no other reasons.

Saintia Sho art style

A revamped classic style, not in first because it feels too modern at times and some faces seem weird. I especially love the rendition of the Gold Cloths, it gives the idea of how “gold” they are more than the classic. 

Soul of Gold art style

Not bad, but it strayed away from the classic just enough for me to question it. The Cloths are divine (pun intended) and the God Warriors look amazing, but the goldies look a bit weird to me. 

Legend of Sanctuary art style

Despite all the complains I have, the 3D style used in this movie is mind-blowing, and the visuals if offers are nothing short than amazing. This is how you do CGI for Saint Seiya. 

The Lost Canvas art style

The series has a great animation and a beautiful drawing style, but it’s so far from the classic rendition I love that it looks too weird for me to have it higher. I don’t particularly like the Gold Cloths in this style because of them being so monochromatic, but aside from that it’s pretty amazing. 

Saintia Sho manga art style

Hands down, the best drawings are in this. Not my favorite manga of the bunch, but the art style is on point. 

The Lost Canvas manga art style 

Despite how weird it looks to me, the drawings of this manga are pretty damn amazing if I say so myself. Good job.

Classic manga style (all the ones by Kurumada himself)

Eh... I don’t really like the drawings in this. The big panels are stunning, but the characters are too weird looking in my opinion, especially compared to most of the art styles i enjoy to look at. The colors, especially, are something I don’t like too much, even if I still appreciate them; too many people rocking the same ones. The drawings got a bit better over time, but they look way too bizarre for me to put the original style higher on the list. 

Saint Seiya Omega art style

It’s one of the worst downgrades I’ve ever seen, and I saw the same exact thing happen to another anime (if you ever watched Pretty Cure or are still following the franchise, you know about the Heartcatch art style). It’s bad, the Cloths are awful, and the characters are way too weird for my liking. 

Who gets the bottom of the barrel? Oh, you know. 

Netfliz KOTZ art style

No.  Just no. Throw it in the trash and never talk about it again. 

Honorable mentions

Saint Seiya Awakening art style

The characters are well designed, the Cloths are incredibly detailed despite this being a free mobile game (microtransactions notwithstanding), and the scenery is beautiful, with no lazy designs and very creative. 

Saint Seiya Soldiers Soul art style

Same as above, minus the “free mobile game” thing. Still want to play it, too broke to buy it. The graphics are incredible, and the entire style follows the classic almost perfectly. Characters and scenery, even with different renditions from each other, deserve to be loved.

RIP Shining Soldiers, the style was good.

May I ask what are your thoughts on the new KotZ CGi series?

hi! I haven't watched and I don't plan on doing so. from what I've seen here, it lacks the visual charm I love about the og series, and if they don't really create anything new, I'm not interested in it!
