Mother's day drawings! Yay!

I know this is a day late, but I was a bit too sleepy to post yesterday...sooo today's the day!

Starting off with Kouka, Kamui, and Kagura because no one can stop me from drawing them as rabbits...it was also probably because I was tired.

As a bonus, here's the drawing I made for my own mother yesterday!

i'll send ya something i'm curious about -- in all of the manga you have read and the anime you have watched, who are your top 5 characters?

Oh boy... let me see... in no particular order:

Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan): do I need to explain? Hahaha

Yona (Akatsuki no Yona): I am a sucker for her growth as a character throughout the story. She went from being an overly spoilt castle princess to a resilient selfless leader on the field in a particularly horrid context, never forgetting the folks that helped her evolve and helping Kouka's people more than her father ever could.

Askeladd (Vinland Saga): he's such a complex character, with intricate (often buried) emotions and even more complex motivations behind his actions. The message he leaves Thorfinn is as powerful as a punch to the gut.

Yato and Yukine (Noragami): I'm gonna cheat on this one. I love them as individual characters but their dynamic is even more precious. Noragami is a wonderful story, and this pair stole my heart. Father and son, brothers, protector and protegé (but who is who? It fluctuates!). They both teach each other the meaning of true family -the one you choose, knowingly or not-, and help each other come out of the cycle of abuse they both had to endure. It wasn't always easy to get along for them, but the love, respect, guidance, and empathy they show each other as the story progresses is unparalleled.

Aaaand Ms Anna Hanyu (Buddy Daddies): she's a side character with little screen time. But I want to include her because of the way she treats the Kazuki-Suwa-Unasaka family in her role as kindergarden teacher. Non judgemental, caring, looking at 4 yo Miri in the eyes when she speaks, asking her what she thinks, valueing Miri's dads' role in her life, helping them adapt to their new life as parents. All in all, being a decent and loving human being in a very special context.

I could add more, for instance I left Hange out?! (Ok, they can go side with Levi on this one)

( Nghhh the way this is worded kind of bothers me. You're someone who's unfamiliar with Gintama I'm guessing. Okay, I'm not saying anything of what he does is okay, but Kamui is NOT sexist and doesn't target women specifically. He's awful to everyone. Also he DOES respect his little sister btw, even if he is a jerk. He respects someone who's strong. What their gender is doesn't matter. He cares about skill y'know. Also he's a Yato they're really different from how normal people are. Fighting being the first thing they think to do is in their blood.

Anyway to answer your question, Kouka would be really upset to see Kamui act like that obviously. But she'd also blame herself I feel given that her death is what made him become such a fucked up person loll.

She already felt guilty Kamui had so much responsibility and struggles while she was sick and dying, so knowing he became THAT way because of her dying will just make her feel awful :^) yeah. )

Muse #4- Kamui

Age 18-20 ( manga and anime )

Kamui is a member of the Yato Tribe. He is the son of Umibouzu and Kouka, and the elder brother of Kagura. He was a major antagonist of Yoshiwara and later after his alliance with Takasugi, became for a time one of the main antagonists of the series. Later on, he joins as an anti-hero.

Kamui lived with his parents and his younger sister on Rakuyou when he was young. As a child, he took over his mother Kouka's responsibilities in doing the house chores and taking care of the then infant Kagura when Kouka fell ill. He was often bullied by other residents, but he would usually beat them up and be scolded by his father, Umibouzu for this. He also took up the responsibility to protect his mother and younger sister in the absence of his father Umibouzu, who was seldom around as he was travelling around the universe searching for a cure to Kouka's illness.

As Kamui grew up, like a Yato clan member in general, Kamui is a battle-loving individual, always looking forward to fighting strong people. He has a belief that the Yato members need to always stay on the battlefield, and this is why he disagrees with Housen staying in Yoshiwara as its ruler. He has no interest to romance viewing fights with more importance. After fighting against Kagura and the others at Rakuyou, Kamui was finally able to reconcile with his past and his bond with his family.

Kamui is ranked as the biggest eater in the series. He is the same age and height as Okita Sougo. This similarity might have been intentional as in Lesson 505 the two are revealed to be equally blood thirsty and appear to form a rivalry. As such, this fact might have been some form of foreshadowing. Kamui is interested in the samurai, since they seem very strong to him. Though he barely appears, Kamui is shown to be quite popular that he was ranked 7th in the Popularity Poll just after his first official appearance, beating Shinpachi who is one of the main protagonists of Gintama.

mutsu, kagura, kamui, umibozu and also abuto (because i actually love him a lot omg) would be one hell of a line up.

i was soooo hyped on the little quick scenes of kagura, kamui, and umibozu fighting utsuro and the naraku together !! so imagine an entire show or at least even just a movie with all the yato ???? omg it'll be soooo gooood !!

just give them some overpowered villain(s), like maybe back at their home planet too just so it could be more satisfying (and add a flashback with kouka ??? i'll cry).

as much as i love gintoki and the shinsengumi, the yato also deserves an arc of their own! everytime they show up you know shit's about to get so chaotic and i love it every time! i really hope we get more of them some day in the future! fingers crossed!

I promise I'll get back to drawing canon characters soon. But woo- took me three days to finish. But my boi Kaiba is complete! This is probably the most cluttered ref I've ever made haha.

Potential Rakuyou arc spoilers ahead so be warned:

Originally he was inspired by a post where someone mentioned the artist phenomenon of a canon character basically turning into their OC after awhile.

And it all started with well, I love Kamui. And I love his first official appearance with the bandages obscuring his face - maybe I could work with that. But then I shoved so many of my AU things and other ideas I enjoy into this character that he's mutated so much that he barely has any trace of Kamui left in his character. Definitely not story wise, nor personally, maybe a few elements design wise still along with the fact of being a Yato. Kaiba actually ended up being much more like Kouka story wise than I intended though (*cough* probably because Kaiba was mainly based on my AU of Kamui being the sole Altana mutant on Kouan instead of Kouka *cough*) but eh, I'll live with that.

Despite being a yato and Altana mutant...I may have taken a few creative liberties design wise. But I have my excuses! One thing is, I absolutely love Yato- but wish they had a few more I guess inhuman traits. Like please give them larger canine teeth and reflective pupils please🙏🥺. I thought the reflective pupils for Yato would be really cool, or funny, if Kagura had em too. So I tossed those traits into there. And I know Yato are supposed to be fair skinned- but I had an idea! Since Yato seem to be able to build up a slight tolerance to sunlight, like with Kagura being able to be out in broad daylight, while Housen who hasn't been exposed in a long time immediately started dying. I figured what if during Yato disopra, one of the groups of survivors who had fled Kouan ended up on this sunny desert dwarf planet... probably not by choice. Though there, the survivors perhaps started to build up a higher tolerance to the sunlight. But yet they're still not immune to it. And could have been the downfall of the few generations that had managed to survive for long enough. Kaiba was from this specific clan of Yato that had settled on the dwarf planet. With a slightly higher tolerance to sunlight than the typical Yato, and with the combo of being an altana mutant. Kaiba was free to enjoy the sunlight for much longer before feeling the effects of it, allowing him to gain more of his tanned complexion. Also just shares the same reptile brain as me, with the desire to just lay out in the sun on warm rocks. Though if he's an altana mutant, how come he has a scar? That should just heal right? ... Well, I have absolutely no excuse for that for now! I just wanted to reuse a scar design from one of my older characters because I thought it'd look nice on Kaiba 👉👈.

Now to get a little more into his story and such. It starts off similarly to Kouka's. As again Kaiba is the last member of his clan surviving alone on his birth planet due to him being a mutant. The forgotten dwarf planet, which I've named Ardoros, is covered in reddish orange sands, stone, and a whole bunch of space junk wich collects on its surface. With so much metal and scrap around, Kaiba developed a skill in metal working. And even managed to find a junked ship one day. This was obviously very exciting as he managed to get it to function- just barely. With many days having spent wandering Ardoros previously, he had already discovered one of its altana crystals. Albeit small, he fashioned it into an earring to serve as a battery in a way before he finally left. But being the absolute hunk of junk it was, Kaiba's ship broke down when he managed to land on another planet. And with no money or anything to fix it, he's began relying on hitchhiking. Traveling all over the universe with the aid of strangers. This got to go on for years, exploring new planets, trying new food etc- he absolutely loved it. But, the crystal he wears is almost depleted along with his own altana energy. He continues to hitchhike, yes. But now determined to find his way back to Ardoros before it's too late. Thing is - he's never been skilled at navigating, always leaving that up to whoever he was traveling with. He has also encountered no one else who's even heard of Adoros, no one else knows it's location either. And currently his latest stop during his attempts to get home, is on earth.
