to: kate @blizzardfluffykpop req: sunwoo x reader | but i like you by boynextdoor summary: sunwoo has a crush and it’s driving him crazy. genre: college au | campus crush, strangers to lovers, fluff (no gendered pronouns but there is one mention of ‘girlfriend’) warnings: none wc: 1.6k words an: the draft was longer than this drabble but i actually held back from posting it all this time because this officially became a wip (help i have three sunwoo wips right now damn it).. who knows how fast i’ll get them out while working throughout the week, but writing your requests are truly the highlight of week! thank you soo much kate for requesting <3 stars: @blizzardfluffykpop @hyungseos-cafe @from-izzy @winterchimez @carrotsworld @jaehunnyy masterlist | @deoboyznet taking in your requests!!! — send a tbz member + song that reminds you of spring <3
sunwoo hardly believed in fairytales, but he was convinced you walked out of one.
trying to catch your breath from running, you swung open the lecture hall door a little stronger than you expected, assuming the huge handle was as heavy as it looked.
in contrast to the dim room, the sunlight coming up from behind was shining at you like a spotlight.
your hair was disheveled from your dire attempt to attend class on time. but in his eyes, it fell in a graceful yet effortless manner, simply complementing your beauty rather than demanding to be noticed. your flowy outfit and light steps brought back spring in the middle of august. or maybe it was your eyes that sparked so much life in this early morning.
sunwoo’s heart started racing, not able to figure out whether it was because of you or the caffeine from half-empty latte in his hand.
he suddenly caught your gaze, and your embarrassed smile nearly threw him in a loop.
‘definitely not the coffee,’ he thought.
you searched for an empty seat in the room, disappointed at the chance of needing to walk all the way to the front, where most students have avoided taking. sunwoo slowly takes his bag off the seat next to him.
'please sit next to me,' he whispered to himself like a mantra.
“you at the back,” the professor, dr. love, called out.
you looked around the general area before you processed who she was talking about. pointing at yourself like a lost little duck, you gathered how awkward the situation had become with 200 students looking straight at you.
“yes, you! stop looking around and take a seat,” dr. love said, “sit next to that boy with his mouth open staring at you-”
the whole room erupts in hollers and laughter. sunwoo quickly looked away. he knew everyone was looking at him, yet continued to deny any claim that he was the one dr. love was talking about.
fortunately, you were too occupied to clearly make out what the professor said. apologizing, you picked the next available seat nearest you and started unpacking your bag. sunwoo’s cheeks burned the moment he sensed shuffling beside him, too nervous to look and check you had chosen to sit next to him after all.
the professor moved past everything once everyone settled in to continue the lecture.
when he finally gained the courage to look around him, sunwoo steals another glance at you. he could have sworn you locked eyes once again. he stopped listening to what dr. love was saying about the syllabus for the rest of class after that.
maybe, waking up for this class five days a week will be worth it.
“did someone kidnap sunwoo and replaced him without us knowing?” eric asked.
the whole crew—eric, hyunjae, haknyeon, chanhee, changmin—were walking downtown after his game, opting for a dinner out while it's still warm out past 5 PM. sunwoo heard his name out of context when he caught up with them, dismissed from his debrief with his cohort at the clinic.
haknyeon and changmin looked at each other and suppressed a chuckle. sunwoo squeezed between the two and put his arms around them.
“say something and i’ll seriously ki-”
“-sunwoo found himself a lil’ girlfriend!” chanhee chirped, shrugging as changmin slapped his arm.
“argh!!! how could you-”
“i didn’t say anything!” changmin insisted.
eric throws his head back, shocked to his core, “oh my god- he’s not denying it.”
“no- of course not- it’s not, i mean… of course it’s not true,” sunwoo stumbled upon his words.
it wasn’t a surprise that his friends would question what he was up to, seemingly becoming a changed person overnight.
haknyeon knew something was up when he no longer needed to turn off his roommate’s alarm for once. initially dreading the fact that he was stuck in the infamous 8 AM attendance-required lecture across campus, sunwoo’s enthusiasm now was undeniable. at times, he even had the time to buy coffee from changmin during his opening shift at the library cafe.
“eric, you saw something?” hyunjae asked, pouting, but unable to contain his excitement. nobody catches him up about matters like this anymore, neck deep in his coursework and part-time fellowship with his professor as a fourth-year.
“i wish,” eric shook his head, “i see him everyday coming into class early- our team passes that building on our morning runs every wednesday and friday.”
defeated, sunwoo stayed silent, careful not to give anything away.
he couldn’t come clean about his silly crush, and if he was being honest, it would be more accurate to say it’s a crushing infatuation. on the rare occasions he sat anywhere remotely close to you, he was only able to gather these three things: you were a freshman, a psychology major, and your name was y/n.
“that’s all you know?” haknyeon asked, almost shouting from surprise.
“he probably didn’t even get all that by actually talking to y/n-”
sunwoo was going to open his mouth to defend himself, but closed it back after accepting changmin was right.
“classes started a month ago,” haknyeon furrowed his eyebrows, half- disappointed and half-frustrated from this realization.
“he’s a helpless case,” chanhee sighed, before walking into the restaurant first and checking their table in.
sunwoo was too stunned to move another step. he didn’t realize a whole month had passed, but could barely count the times he shared a couple of words with you in one hand.
the rest of the guys tap sunwoo in the back, whispering a series of good luck and you can do it before walking in. somehow, the gesture still managed to feel like a pitiful mockfest to the poor guy. he was beginning to think he was helpless himself.
eric stayed to offer his friend some help, “hm- you know that name sounds familiar. tell you what- i have this friend, kevin, he’s also a psych major and works at the student center by the dorms-”
“are you telling me to spy and stalk my crush?” sunwoo asked, terrified.
“if you knew what others do to know more about their crush” eric started, but decided not to finish his sentence. he shook his head and sighed exactly like chanhee did and whispered something under his breath.
 “trust, you’ll thank me later.”
thursday, 6:30 PM
bennett hall, room 305
sunwoo stares at the note eric left him. even after insisting he would never accept his help without knowing how he got his intel…his legs ended up bringing him in front of the building.
i have ten minutes to turn back and walk away, he thinks while staring at a small flyer pinned to the wall that advertised the university’s film club meetings, confirming he was at the right place.
“sunwoo, right?”
his heart dropped to his stomach when he heard your voice. sunwoo hesitates before moving from his stance, already recognizing your voice before his eyes fell on you.
“sunwoo, from dr. love’s class?”
“y/n,” he grinned like a fool, only calling out your name instead of answering you properly.
sunwoo looked at your surprised expression, holding back any indication that the reason he’s here has finally showed up. you switched back and forth from looking at him and the poster on the wall, connecting the dots.
“are you here for the film club?” you smiled.
sunwoo mindlessly fidgeted with the note on his hand and quickly crumpled it back to his pocket, “i- i am.”
“i’m in it too! this is great- we’re always looking for new members. is it your first time?”
sunwoo nodded. he couldn’t believe you remembered his name, much less recognize him outside of class.
while trying to get it together as he freaks out on the inside, he listens to your lengthy intro of the club. you went on and on and on, not knowing he was still trying to get over the fact that you were exchanging more than five words to one another.
a leaf falls on your head as you were talking when sunwoo reaches out to take it off.
his hand moved faster than his thoughts, stricken by his nerves when he finally realized what he was doing. you stopped talking for a second, looking at what was on his hand.
“sorry- there was a leaf.”
“oh- okay.”
he coughed to break the awkward tension, sensing you had lost your train of thought. sunwoo took a step back, putting a small distance between you. he pressed his lips together and smiled with his eyes, ready to beat himself up later for losing his cool in front of you (again).
“anyway- did anyone invite you?” you went back to what you were saying.
sunwoo had long forgotten what eric explained when he was handed the note. he lies and told you no one invited him.
“okay..” you smirked, closing the distance he just put between you and urged him to lean a little closer, “then, can you tell the club, i invited you?”
you explained that you get a referral perk for bringing in new members, increasing your chance to win a collectible item at the end of the month.
sunwoo didn’t think you could become even more adorable until that moment.
he was already devising a plan to force his friends to join the club in his head if it meant you would smile at him like that again.
'you could ask me to tell everyone you saved me from a burning building and i would do it,' he thought.
lost in your bubble, you didn’t pay attention to the time until you glanced at your phone.
“-we’re gonna be late!” you jumped.
sunwoo follows you in without a word and walks up the stairs. you turned the hallway to the left and found the projector room like its routine. you reached for the door before pausing and turning to sunwoo.
“i'm really glad you came today,” you whispered before opening the door, giving him no time to respond.
sunwoo had a feeling he’ll remember this exact moment long after today.

to: izzy @from-izzy req: sunwoo x female reader | spring snow by 10CM summary: when pretending to be your sister during a blind date fails successfully genre: non-idol au | blind date, fake identity, childhood friends to lovers wc: 2.6k words an: izzy… i promised to give this to you over the weekend. i’m so sorry it was late :’) so, i made it longer than usual. heeeheee, i know it’s a little tame from my sweet fluffy ones, but i lowkey held back in case i write a longer version because oh my god the backstory i made for this drabble is kinda loaded??? it was so much fun to plan so i got carried away??? (if i pause see me in a crown, catch me writing this sunwoo fic fr, just give me the word!!!) stars: @from-izzy @winterchimez @hyungseos-cafe @carrotsworld
masterlist | @deoboyznet taking in your requests!!! — send a tbz member + song that reminds you of spring <3
a couple of hours have passed.
you can’t remember the last time you ate something and your studio started resembling a makeshift obstacle course made for children.
you hardly work with a tight deadline anymore since that one nightmare of a commission, but today felt different.
the sun is out and the flowers are in full spring. the breeze was strong but you opened your sliding doors by the balcony overlooking a small park, hoping to air out the smell of paint at the end of the day.
every corner of your wide and airy space was filled with light for the first time in weeks and you knew it was time to take advantage of it.
you kept your eyes on the landscape, not needing to look at your sister to recognize her walking through the front door.
kari was one of those people you can hear before you see. you smiled, knowing exactly why she was here.
“i know you saw my text.”
“a little occupied here, if you didn’t notice? ah- watch out! i forgot i put down an opened package somewhere near the door!”
kari’s expression does not change as she moves the bubble wrap with her foot to make a clear path towards you.
“i’ve been dodging your landmines since the dawn of time, y/n. -thought you’d be more organized now after moving out.”
“kari, it’s been a decade. if i were to change, i would have ages ago.”
you added some finishing touches on a bench before putting your brush down. after hanging your apron, you joined your sister on the couch. kari laid out a selection of your favorite pastries from the bakery around the corner, your hand automatically reaching out for one.
“i knew asking when you last ate would have been useless, so i brought food before you even asked-”
“are you… bribing me?” you asked mid-bite.
you looked at your sister who was already greeting you with puppy eyes.
“is it working?”
after pausing for a few seconds, you shrugged and continued chewing.
“what’s in it for me?”
kari groaned in frustration as if your four-hour-long conversation over the phone last week and spontaneous sleepover last month were not enough, both preceded by horrible blind dates that her parents forcibly set.
clearly, today was not the first time your sister explained the problem.
knowing that kari was not one to ask for favors, you caved in and agreed to meet her in person and hear her ridiculous idea: you show up to the next blind date pretending to be her.
despite only sharing one parent, your dad’s genes worked overtime. even you wouldn’t deny the fact you looked alike. of course, it helps to be the same age as your half-sister.
her idea was nothing short of genius, really.
“what’s wrong with going to a third one? you survived the last two dates-”
“-two too many dates, that’s what it was,” she sulked, “y/n, i swear if i go to another one…”
“okay- okay,” you surrendered, putting your hands up.
“besides…” she hesitates, “i already have a boyfriend.”
you dropped your croissant, jaw on the floor.
kari read your mind before you were able to make out the words to say. she pulls out her phone to show you a photo, introducing the mystery guy.
kim younghoon.
“so, you have a death wish?” you asked, point blank.
kari smiled sheepishly. your sister was not asking for a death wish but dating the son of her father’s nemesis was definitely pushing it.
she puts her phone down on the table and melts into the couch. the affairs, problems, and now, intermarriage of the rich were matters you thought you escaped when you moved out of your father’s house, but you loved your sister too much not to get involved.
you brushed away the crumbs on your fingers and pulled her in for a hug.
“mom’s getting suspicious. you know i can’t tell them about him yet…”
“so you think that if the next blind date goes decently well, she’ll get off your back?”
“yup- see!” kari smiled, “you’re the only one that gets me.”
you playfully tap her on the head, “getting you only gets me in situations like this.”
you looked at your reflection and fussed with your outfit for the fourth time this morning.
cussing under your breath, you thought that looking like your sister should be good enough.
you said the moment these people asked for identification, your little gimmick would be over. she said judging by the meeting place, they wouldn’t need to if you were dressed accordingly.
in the end, you lost the argument—you had no choice but to wear kari’s clothes for the blind date.
the elevator arrives at your floor and the host greets you by the entrance, clearly expecting every patron as they enter the establishment.
the restaurant’s minimalistic interior maintained the restaurant’s low profile design, but this place's real worth could not escape your experienced eye. watching your sister in these spaces for years taught you a thing or two.
“reservation’s under kari,” you say calmly.
with his top-notch professionalism with a polite smile, the host promptly showed you the way to a private booth. you looked at the view in front of the table, then noticed a man was already sitting there with only the back of his head facing you.
before reaching his earshot, the host mentions that mr. kim was waiting for you.
hm, mr. kim… at least you know his last name, right?
the host gives you a slight bow before excusing himself.
now left alone, your footsteps caught the man’s attention. he turned his head and stood up as you reached to look at him face to face. he greets you with a smile and introduces himself without missing a beat.
“nice to meet you, my name is-”
“-sunwoo.”
you finished his sentence, not knowing whether you meant it as a question or a statement.
the man in front of you looks different from the way you remember him—out on the field playing football, running late to class wearing his uniform, falling asleep on his desk, walking you home.
you seem to recognize that smile as if no time has passed.
but it’s been twelve years.
twelve long years since you called out his name. a name so familiar, it just rolled off your tongue before you could even catch what you had done.
“do we know.. each other?”
his reply brought you back down to earth, once again reminding you why kim sunwoo is standing right in front of you.
“oh- uh, no.”
“you know my name.”
“the host mentioned it-” you lied, “my name is kari.”
you quickly sat down and took a sip of the water prepared on your table.
once the coast was clear, it didn’t take long for things to start processing in your head. the person you’ve longed to find after losing contact for ten years is now your blind date while you’re pretending to be someone else.
that meant kari should have been the one to meet sunwoo.
son of the famous musician, kim jongkook, who founded one of the top entertainment agencies in the nation, it wasn’t a surprise that sunwoo would be among the pool of eligible bachelors that could potentially cross your sister’s path.
you waited to see if he showed any signs of remembering you, though you highly doubt it. it’s been a long time since your school days—when you used to live two blocks away from the boy who stole your heart.
you can hardly remember your closest friends during middle school now, but sunwoo, you’ll never forget.
refusing to meet his eyes, you silently prayed he would just accept your lame excuse. you opened the menu and pretended to search for something good to eat. thankfully, he doesn’t press any further and follows what you do.
instead, he starts looking around the room suspiciously. you squint at his strange behavior.
“what are you looking for-” you asked before he interrupted you with a hush.
sunwoo leans in, hiding his mouth with the menu in his hands, “do you really want to stay here?”
confused, you gave him a look.
“what do you mean?”
he continued whispering but with urgency, his volume increased ever so slightly.
“i know my mom sent some guards to keep an eye on us- i think we should go.”
“why?”
sunwoo grinned. your heart leaped at the fact he never grew out of his cheeky and mischievous nature. he will always have fun answering the question why?
“i have a car out front waiting,” he stood up from his seat, holding out his hand.
“already? wait- were you planning to ditch me?” you gasped, messing with him.
sunwoo’s eyes widened. a guilty look flashed across his face while he held up a hand to gesture an apology.
“well, now i’ve decided to take you with me so.. let’s go!”
the moment you took his hand, you two started running towards the exit and down the stairs.
you reminded yourself to tell kari ‘thank you’ for making you wear flats instead of heels. in hindsight, she probably planned this for the possibility that you may need to run away from your date.
only this time, you were running away with your date.
once you reached the ground floor exit, you saw a man leaning against the wall. he called sunwoo’s attention and threw him a set of keys.
“you owe me.”
sunwoo caught them with one hand, the other still holding your hand.
“jacob hyung, thank you!”
then, sunwoo looked at you and nodded.
you got into the passenger seat and turned your head back at the exit. two guys dressed casually were running frantically on their phones.
you looked at each other as sunwoo started the car and drove. tension breaks as you two burst out laughing. you’d say it was as if you were caught sneaking out by your parents but that wasn’t too far off.
you brushed your hair out of your face and collected yourself.
“you do that often?” you asked, wondering how many times sunwoo has ran away from his guards to be this good.
“occasionally.”
by occasionally, he meant every single time.
sunwoo was pleased with himself. he looked the same as he always looked like everytime he pulled you in all of his antics.
memories start flooding in like he just opened a box. and it might sound crazy to say you got on your blind date’s getaway car after mere minutes of meeting him, but this was only possible because of the person beside you.
if anyone was able to convince you of anything, of course, it would be sunwoo.
you took advantage of the fact he couldn’t take his eyes off the road and finally get a good look of his face without getting caught.
that stupid smile made your heart soar again.
“so… kari? i’m still calling this a date-” he shoots you a quick look.
you snapped your head the other way, taken aback by what he said.
“-’course. still a date,” you could barely get out a small squeak in agreement.
while you were trying to play it cool, you missed sunwoo’s smirk when he looked at you.
“cute,” he said quietly to himself, still trying to sneak a glance at you.
“where are we going?”
“it’s a surprise. impromptu date course just for you.”
you looked concerned, trying to figure out where you are in the city. sunwoo drives without navigation, but he doesn’t hesitate when taking the necessary turns. he knows this neighborhood well.
“what do you do?” sunwoo asked.
you pause for a moment. distracted, you almost forgot who you were pretending to be and carelessly thought of how you usually introduced yourself.
sunwoo catches on and takes back what he asked.
“nevermind- work is boring. i want to know what you like to do in your spare time.”
you looked at him suspiciously. it’s not new for sunwoo to be extremely perceptive. he used to always see through your walls, whether you liked it or not. you start to worry if you’ve been convincing enough to even keep up with the act.
still, you answer as if nothing’s wrong.
“i like to paint. i deal with multiple mediums but oil and watercolor are usually what i work with.”
sunwoo nodded like this wasn’t news to him. you don’t expect anyone to be surprised when you tell them you paint, but the look on his face made it look like he was expecting it. you brushed off that thought.
“what about you?”
“i make music.”
knowing that wasn’t news to you either, but you waited for him to say more. he realized why you were still quiet.
“that guy who helped us earlier- he’s one of our producers.”
sunwoo answered, focused on the last turn he needed to take to arrive at your destination.
“i also run a business.”
now, that genuinely surprised you.
sunwoo never talked about wanting to be a businessman like his father. you held back your tongue even though you were dying to know how that came to be.
it wasn’t your place to be curious. not anymore.
“i thought you said talking about work was boring,” you joked.
“it is, but were here.”
sunwoo parks in front of a restaurant. he gets out of the car and opens the door for you. speechless, you sat there unmoving.
sunwoo? owning a restaurant?
“is it that surprising?” he chuckled.
“you just didn’t seem like the type,” you mention thoughtlessly.
“i didn’t think so either,” sunwoo smiled.
again, you weren’t supposed to know what he was like. but, sunwoo didn’t question that either.
“i co-own the place with my friend, haknyeon. his family supplies our black pork all the way from jeju.”
you enter through the side entrance, seeing the place empty before business hours. the kitchen at the back was already busy preparing for the day. sunwoo leads the way to the main floor.
he hasn’t said a word since you walked in. you can tell he was nervous but you didn't know why. reaching the end of the hallway, you stepped inside and almost forgot how to breathe.
every single piece of art hanging on the walls was made by you.
“these paintings…” you froze on the spot.
“seem familiar?”
“they- they’re mine.”
sunwoo smiled, reaching over to hold your hand.
he looks at you fondly, memorizing every detail of your amazement. he loves that you can’t hide your expression. perhaps, he was the one who never failed to see right through it.
“yes, y/n. these are your paintings.”
you locked eyes with sunwoo, giving you the final confirmation that you heard his words correctly. he called out your name knowing exactly who you are.
“how? i- i..” you were too stunned to find the right words.
“last year. bought them under the name berry,” he explained, “i heard from the dealer my commission was a nightmare to finish.”
you playfully slapped sunwoo on the arm, slipping right back into the comforting familiarity with the one you’ve longed to see.
painting under an alias, you always kept a distance from your buyers. now, you regret ever selling your art that way, wondering how long you would have gone on without meeting sunwoo again.
“i didn’t know where they were gonna be displayed,” you mumbled, “what about the last painting? there were seven…”
“at home. i wanted to keep that one for myself.”
“this morning, you knew it was me.”
it wasn’t a question, you simply stated. sunwoo nodded in reply.
“ever since you said my name.”
