EEE thank you @l3o-lion !! To answer your question, most of the animations I post on here are tweening, specifically with Live2D.

I like using it for gentle looping animations & backdrops. (Character animations are a whole different beast? I usually only keep them to a couple functions like 'HandMove' or 'HairGoWoosh'" but this is the VTuber-making software so it's totally possible to make more complex characters. )

I made a tutorial for how I animate with L2D below the cut, if you'd like to see the details! :D

This is the file for that Artfight attack. (quick disclaimer for anyone reading out of context: THIS IS NOT MY CHARACTER DESIGN, they belong to Finchstick over on Artfight!)

I drew the image itself in Krita - for this one I tried to go for more of a fuzzy, painterly style because I wanted to make it look like a muppet. L2D can handle fuzzy textures and gradients without too much trouble most of the time which is something I really like about animating with it.

So! Each different moving piece has to be its own layer. Naming and organizing them into folders helps a lot once I export it into L2D. The finished image needs to be saved as a .PSD file.

After it's done, I'll open the .PSD file in L2D and it'll look something like this:

Once the file is open I find the moving pieces of my character and select them. (I also lock the static layers before doing anything )

Once I have my piece selected, I open the automatic mesh generator ( located above the image, to the left ) and automatic mesh it.

(Keep the mesh generator window open and select / apply mesh to each moving object.)

______ D E F O R M E R S _______

Once the pieces have a mesh on them I apply warp deformers for each part. (I try to apply the deformer for each body part to the largest piece making up that part. For example, the part being used for the head deformer here is the upper part of the head.)

Each part of the face also gets a deformer - each eye, the mouth, etc - and those get shoved into the parent "head" warp deformer.

The deformers allow for parts of the face to move with the head, but they also allow for you to set more parameters per part and make your model look more dynamic. (There's a 3 parameter limit in the free version but if I need to make another parameter work I'll just brute force it and make a 'head deformer deformer' etc)

Once the deformers are set up, I start setting the parameters.

The program opens with these default parameters which are all intended for rigging a face, you can make your own custom parameters at the bottom of the window.

As for the green dots here, they represent points of extremes on the parameter! You can change what these are by moving the slider over the green dot, and moving the mesh on the selected object.

This can be a bit tedious, but it's fun to watch the model look more alive the more parameters you finish.

______ A N I M A T I N G _______

After I save my model as a .CMO3 file I open a new animation file in L2D, and drag and drop the .CMO3 into the window.

The model shows up much larger than the window. You can resize the window in the bottom left, (third and fourth fields from the top,) and shrink the model to fit inside.

(The free version has a limitation on how big your image can be in order to be exported. It usually takes me a bit of trial and error to get the right size for the image.)

The window below your image shows your tracks. You can have multiple models per animation, I usually just use one. The purple track represents the model while the orange represents the duration of the animation.

With that out of the way, it's time to set the keyframes! Under the purple model track there's a green drop-down window called 'Live2D Parameters'. Here, you can adjust your parameters in order to move your model to the right position.

(In order to make a looping animation, you can copy all parameter values in the first keyframe by left RIGHT clicking the dot on the green Parameters track, and then paste them to the last rendered keyframe.)

I adjust the parameters and keyframes until I feel satisfied with the result. Once I'm done, I just go to File > Export Image/Video > GIF animation or Video.

I make sure my image is sized correctly, and save! And that's about it. ( For this specific animation I also put some effects over it in Clipchamp. )

“No problem,” Warriors said, taking a step further into the tent. “I’m happy to help-” He stopped in his tracks as he finally saw just who the patient was.

He identified that small frame instantly, those red and green tunics with nothing but boots beneath them, the blond hair sporting a streak of pink. The patient was Legend, visibly wounded and painfully scared. The teen’s ears were nearly pressed flat against his head, his eyes wide as he stared at Warriors like he didn’t believe that the man was there in front of him. Just as notable were the soldiers from earlier, physically restraining Legend as they looked almost bored to do so.

White-hot rage flared through Warriors but he gained enough control to say in his best Captain Voice, “Release him. Now.”

The soldiers blinked in confusion and one of them dared to argue. “B-but sir, he’s highly dangerous and violent.”

Warriors practically growled, “So am I. Hands. Off.”

TRUSTWORTHY LESGOOOO

Without even looking up, the medic said, “Just a stubborn patient. He rendered my partner unconscious so it would be helpful if you could attend to them while I handle him.”

Writing this medic absolutely made my skin crawl. They represent everything bad about how treatment can go: they’re more focused on the injury than their patient’s well being and physical restraint is their first resort. Which can be helpful when you’re a battlefield medic! Just not as good for dealing with a trypanophobic, traumatized teen who's Not Actually Dying Right This Second.

I love wattpad-style character descriptions, as my creative writing teacher so ‘lovingly’ called them. I just get self-conscious and guilty actually using them…

Gods, how am I supposed to think about this fic without the vivid mental image of l3o's comic playing in my mind? Answer: I don't, and I love it >:D I could say this about just about every panel, but this is one of my favorites. He's just so scared ;;-;; Also yes emoting ears supremacy forever and ever.

Warriors is Absolutely relying on his Captain Instincts to keep him stable. He doesn't want to blow up in front of Legend, but he needs those soldiers gone and Now.

The soldiers blinked in confusion and one of them dared to argue. “B-but sir, he’s highly dangerous and violent.”

These soldiers aren't actually under Warriors' command, but they know a higher-up when they see him. They really are just trying to follow orders, and aren't really aware that they're doing the wrong thing in regards to Legend. Later, when Legend is recovered, Time will track them down and send them to apologize. They mean it, and Legend is still wary of them but grateful for it. This will hopefully happen in a later fic if I have the opportunity.

HFHDHHF :DDDDDD YEEEE ART RAMBLE TIME! (Most of this is recent stuff for Recalled and all but ye)

My first two are my designs for Hylia and the Fierce Deity! I don't think I've posted them here before, but I'm super happy with how they both turned out!

For the Fierce Deity, I personally describe him as being the Hero's Spirit, and so whoever puts on the mask gains the knowledge, skills, and strength of the heros who came before! (Each person has a different FD appearance that I've been working on designing, but the one here is just the general base for FD)

For Hylia, I wanted to sort of dip into that Biblically accurate Angel look, making her seem more otherworldly and elegant. I also wanted to add on a bit more color to her, so I tried to give her a sort of pearly sheen.

Next is a little doodle I did of Captain and Twilight just chilling! I was practicing my more realistic style, and I figured I should be nice to them for once XD

I also just really like that Twilight has wolf ears on his hood. It amuses me to no end XD

Next I have a page from a comic that I'm working on, called Blind Faith, Blind Rage, which is a comic I'm doing about the First Hero, and one of his encounters with Ghirahim (in which Hero gets royally beat up)

This page in particular I'm very proud of, just because backgrounds yeeeee

And finally, I have the portrait I did of Malon a few months ago!

I'm still absolutely in love with how she turned out, with all the colors and bdhdjfhhfjs she pretty! I had so much fun drawing and coloring her, that it didn't feel like it took 2 hours XD

Is Shadow gonna be a thing in the comic? Is he HERE?? Are the actual colors voices in his head or is he just himself? Does Colors go by He/him or anything else?

SO, for Shadow, yes, they do exist, though they go by the name 'Obsidian' now, cause ye. I have some doodles of them cause they're crazy and great and I like their design XD

I wanted to have more of a focus on like... Broken stained glass for their design, instead of shadows because they've changed quite a bit but ye

As for how I write Colors in general, I have them as a System, so all the individual colors have their own voices, and when they're combined, they use plural pronouns (we/our/us for first person, and they/them for third person). Also, since they're a system, the main four colors+Obsidian are kinda the ones who mainly front/host, but they have a lot of other alters that will occasionally pop in throughout the story :3
