the problem with those nuclear semiotics proposals, ways to stop far-future societies from digging up nuclear waste, is that a LANDSCAPE OF THORNS and MENACING EARTHWORKS covered in warnings like BEWARE EVIL ENERGY and DO NOT UNLEASH THE CURSE in languages older than time is one way to absolutely guarantee that future humans will go the fuck there and dig it up just to see what the deal is. they're streisand effecting their own demise.

you know what would be fun?
A puzzle game where you're given a bunch of different objects, magazines, books, food labels, et cetera, all with a made up language on them. Then, with just the objects you're given, you have to decipher how to read the conlang your only clues come from the pictures and contents of the items
say for example, the game gives you two cans they're different brands, but two of the words on the front of them match the game lets you open the cans, and inside you find that both are filled with tomato soup ergo, you can conclude that the shared words mean "tomato soup"
then you can take another can, this one only shares one word and is filled with vegetable soup. Therefore, that single word that all three cans share must mean "soup" and by process of elimination the other word means "tomato"
and the idea is you keep doing this with different words till you can fully translate everything

I just saw a Facebook post with a dog still in ear tapes, wearing a matching muzzle. The owner was posting about their "reactivity journey".
My dude. That's a puppy. You don't have a reactivity issue. You have a Doberman puppy. Labeling it and reacting to it like that is just looking at the spider so it will bite you.
I'm all for support for reactivity trains-- reactivity is the better chunk of my bread and butter. I'm all for muzzled dogs are good dogs. But if your puppy young enough to be in ear tapes is being muzzled for reactivity, you're either overreacting and making the problem worse or have a SERIOUS temperamental aggression issue.

@hylianengineer sorry I had to make a new post, the answer got too long for replies :D
Ah, the dreaded "but wool is itchy!". Not something I can relate to (I really like it when yarn/fabric has a bit of grip and structure to it, I'm not one for the ultra-soft, fluffy wools) but let's see if I can say smth useful.
First, you're definitely not alone in finding wool scratchy! A lot of people have sensory issues regarding it. Whether it can be helped at all will depend on how sensitive you are; some people can't even handle unspun 17 mic chubut merino and at that point, wool just isn't for them. Which is fine, not everything is for everyone.
Rule of thumb: the higher quality your fibre, the softer the finished garment will be. If it's just listed as "wool", it might contain recycled fibre, wool from sheep breeds that don't have a super fine fleece, or even wool from dead animals, all of which lowers the quality.
Virgin wool (I think) refers to wool that is spun for the first time, so a yarn that has no recycled fibres in it. Lambswool is a sheep's first wool. It is finer and smoother than adult wool.
Another big impact is breed of sheep and origin of the fibre. Merinos are the go-to for high quality items, but are also kept all over the world, so look to where your wool comes from. Aotearoa and South America are well known for their high quality merino wools. Sheep that live in colder, harsher climates produce a sturdy, tougher fleece, especially if they're not merino breeds. Depending on where you are, regional wool might not be what you're looking for. Britain is famous for their wool, but Shetland wool won't be super soft. Try some BFL (Bluefaced Leicester) if you can get it; it is smoother than merino and not as springy.
Wool can be superwash treated by coating the individual fibres, so the scales on the hairs are covered. This means it won't felt and can be machine washed; it also makes it less scratchy. This process is very energy- and water-intensive. The fibres are coated in silicone, I think, which makes the finished yarn feel kinda plastic-y, and it also lowers the insulating and water-repelling qualities of the wool. (All in all, you might as well buy acrylic)
You can also try looking for sheep's wool mixed with other animal fibres. Cashmere, alpaca, and mohair are probably the most common and all have their own qualities (cashmere is shiny and drapey; alpaca is smooth and kind of dense; mohair is light, extremely fluffy and super warm). All are softer than sheep's wool and nicer to the skin.
Anyway, all that to say: Look for virgin wool, look at the breed you're getting if it's specified, look for mixes with softer fibres, look at the origin of the wool. Unfortunately, when you're sensitive, navigating the world of natural fibres can be a bit of a minefield, I know. If wool isn't for you, that's not a moral failing!

i'm applying for a fellowship that required my faculty supervisor to write me a letter of support and yesterday he very shyly emailed to say he was nearly done but wanted to confirm my pronouns. i'm a cis woman who is just very very tall (before you ask: 6'2") and uses a nickname bc my given name is too Dutch for most folks (apparently) but i have just discovered that for the last two-ish months i've been in the program, everyone has been dancing around my pronouns and substituting my name more than is normal bc no one wanted to misgender me and were apparently just waiting for someone to either use pronouns in front of me or for me to use them myself and i think i have truly reached my final queer form
#this is kind of wild tho right bc like. usually no one used pronouns in your presence bc they are designed to be used to replace a name#so like yeah. it's true. you're not really around when people are using your pronouns. lol#and i never thought much about people stumbling over my name/how they reference me in seminar bc. well. i'm used to that#my given name usually makes people just blue screen with panic when they have to say it out loud so i didn't think anything of it#turns out they were about to use a pronoun and switched to saying avery last second. and i am tickled about it.#people also knew i was bisexual wayyyyy before i ever said the words out loud myself#like a tonne of people's reactions were that they thought i'd been out for a while#and talking to an old coworker about a weird conversation i had with my old boss asking me if queer employees felt okay being “out” at work#and i was like “pfft. he didn't even know he was talking to a closeted queer employee!”#and she looked at me like i was so so naive and said “i think he knew exactly what he was doing when he chose to ask you that”#and turns out he was probably just baiting me to out myself bc that's the kind of place that was and yeah queer ppl don't feel safe JAMES#but anyway.#i know i'm not cis in the way most people consider themselves cis#i use they/them when i'm being self-referential - mostly by accident - but i prefer everyone else use she/her#at least for now#but i don't feel like i'm not cis either? bc i am the gender i was born with - which is... none? maybe?#and i know that's not how everyone interacts with the cis/trans labels. and that's fine. you do you and i'll do me yk?#but i don't wanna be seen as agender/non-binary by using they/them or even she/they#if people sense gender tomfoolery themselves then i actually feel much better about that than if i identified with she/they tbh lol#actually i want that as an option when selecting gender now#sex? female. gender? tomfoolery.

an assortment of AC furniture ideas
fossil themed furniture set. everything is made out of dino bones
ghost themed set. everything is kind of floaty and translucent. maybe you can walk through some pieces
kitty themed set. the couch is definitely scratched up. maybe a paper screen with holes in it. scratched curtains to hang from the wall. a sleeping cat with breathing animation that purrs and mrrps when you interact & it can be placed on top of other things
gingerbread set. can be recoloured to christmas, halloween, fruity and pastel colours. includes a lollipop fence
WALL. MOUNTED. MIRRORS I'll be saying this forever until they add at least one
set made entirely of glass
just a bowl of snacks. there is so much food in NH but there is still no like bowl of chips or bowl of popcorn
air fryer
oversized flowers, weeds and trees to give the impression that you are actually small
sequins furniture. has two customization slots, a colour and an image (image can be replaced with custom design). when you interact it flips the sequins over from the colour to the image
new years themed furniture with customizable year
path edges. they can be walked over & recoloured and they line up perfectly with the edges of terraformed paths. they work sort of like fences in how you place them and will automatically orient themselves with the edge of a path if there is an edge on that tile
big beach umbrella with no chairs attached
y2k-looking inflatable furniture
set made entirely out of topiaries
glow in the dark furniture. idk what it looks like normally but it'd glow in the dark
leather with spikes furniture
go back to sets typically having 11 pieces total + add a 12th & 13th piece which is a rug and fence

gender is so fuck like I’m cisn’t and I’m not a man or a woman entirely but at the same time I’m kind of both but I don’t vibe with calling myself nonbinary I just don’t think it fits me even though that’s technically what I am and I don’t like they/them pronouns being used for me but you can’t say that without ppl being like “what you got against nb ppl and they/them pronouns 😡😡” literally nothing I think those are so rad they’re just not for me. that’s not me I’m something else but there’s not a word for the something else. Idk what I’m saying is we should invent a new gender just for me
