"Nance," Margaret called, a slightly teasing tone in her voice as she continued, "someone's here for you."

Nancy came out to greet her mysterious visitor and was surprised to see Lady Repton awaiting her. Margaret excused herself around the corner, still close enough to be within earshot, and let the two women talk. "I came to ask you something," Lady Repton began. Nancy looked at her quizzically. "Would you let me be your keeper?"

"I haven’t had a keeper since I was young," Nancy said.

"That’s not what I asked," Lady Repton pointed out.

"Say yes, Nance," Margaret encouraged, only loud enough for Nancy to have heard.

"Alright," Nance agreed.
