Crystal Abscess Saga [Part 2/2]

•I listen to the doctor’s advice. Maybe I am wrong and the lump will go away on its own. I take the antibiotics and allergy medicine. Sometimes it feels like my eyelid is burning, maybe that’s the antibiotics fighting the bacteria? •A few days later I am in public and my face starts leaking. I touch it with a napkin and it is…the nastiest of what can come out of your body. Just pus and infected blood of every color. My abscess had ruptured on its own. The burning sensation I felt? It was the layers of eyelid skin breaking through to get ready for the rupture. I run to the restroom •I’ve had an abscess before and I know you need to drain it. I soaked the one napkin I had and when I was trying to figure out what to do next, these three women came in running after me. They said, “We saw you run in here, so we followed you. Do you need help?” Typically strong independent me would say no, but this time considering the situation, I said “Yes, I think so.” After they said, “We’re nurses. One of us works with an eye doctor, she knows exactly what to do.” •What are the chances? For the next 30 minutes as I was going through shock and physically shaking, they helped me drain the nasty out of my face, gave me new napkins, took my soaked yucky ones away and didn’t act disgusted, told me I was brave, to keep going, and at the very end when there was the most solid white chunk of pus as big as two of my front teeth, I was too disgusted to pull it out of my face. One of them gently said, “Can I do it for you?” •I closed my eyes and didn’t feel anything as she pulled it out with her bare hands. After they disinfected my eyelid, my eye, bandaged me up properly, they tried to leave •I asked what were their names and if I could take a photo with them. I thanked them and gave them my sticker as that’s all I had to show appreciation. They said, “Ahh, we have nothing to give you.” I thought, what? Y’all saved me •She takes out her sunglasses and gives them to me. I say “I can’t take this.” She then says, “What? You don’t have eyes?” Yes ma’m, I do now 🤐
