Albums of the Week! We need to talk about the new Lamp of Murmuur album, Saturnian Bloodstorm, which takes the top spot. This thing is outstanding, and you’re going to love it if you enjoy classic Immortal material. In addition to several repeats from last week, I also tried the new drops from The Crooked Whispers and Sól án varma (a side project of Misþyrming). Finally, Houston-based Saviorskin also made a debut on my list. ☠️

Albums of the Week! Iron Maiden takes the top spot by a mile with the newly issued Number of the Beast Over Hammersmith vinyl. ALBUMS OF THE WEEK! This week was flush with some new releases. The top spot goes to Vitriolic’s Renegade Ascension, a wonderful blackened speed metal album from a Finnish band I’d never heard of until I got the tape in a Metalhead Box. Hot on its heels was Wraith’s fantastic new drop, Undo The Chains (also blackened speed metal…I guess that’s my thing now?). Lamp of Murmuur and Unto Others also released new albums this year, and I gave each an initial field test. I balanced all of this new stuff with some classic Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, along with some fine quality death metal from Cerebral Rot and Cryptopsy. This weekend will take some time to process but @roadburnfest 2022 was incredible. So much good music, a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful weather and even better people. The final day was soundtracked by @terzijdehorde // @ggulldoom, Solar Temple x @deadneanderthals, @whollydoomedblackmetal, @lampofmurmuur, @greyaura3, @alkerdeel and ended with @thou_band_official doing a Black Sabbath tribute set.
