ok not to derail the I Play Up for the Attention and I Give Him All of My Attention thing going on between them but
the beauty in their symmetry of opposites sometimes just absolutely kicks me hard. Lando's all compact and warm-blooded with big animated features and wild, wild curls. but he's had a small village of support since he was fourteen years old (or younger) and he self-admittedly doesn't like silence and books himself busy at least two years in advance.
then there's Oscar with his pale skin and fair coloring with his body still going through growing pains and the only way to read him is through his intense brown eyes. but his dad returned to the other side of the globe to the rest of his family and Oscar lived his life and career on his own from the age of fourteen and is self-admittedly shy and would prefer spending time quietly at home to going out.
Oscar's been watching and been a fan of Lando since at least moving to the UK and we know just how much (sometimes being one of just two likes on a post about him). Lando often forgets who is on the current grid if they're not his own personal friend. he even technically knew of Oscar through Max F but considering he forgets forgetting Max's birthday that fact won't have stuck.
then they're thrown together as rookie and established F1 star yet somehow Oscar already has the upper hand because he's followed Lando for so long and already likes him so much. he's definitely bashful at times and forgets to not watch Lando like his own personal ipad streaming service but he's settled into what he thinks of Lando. Lando's spent the past 4 years being a fanboy of his older teammates and probably assumed that Oscar would be like getting a buddy his own age by comparison. and it clearly unsettled him a little that Oscar wasn't an easily known entity but that he already liked Lando so much.
and idk I apparently cannot write enough about how these two don't seem to have anything besides driving for McLaren as an easy point of connection but they orbit around each other's space in this special way that makes me <3

It’s not a great year for Charles but mostly not because of his skills. He does great during races, it’s his car that is not there (dirty air)
When he can put the car upfront he manages a podium (when a wire does not give up and it ends up in a dnf the a grid penalty)
It’s easy to look at results and say he doesn’t drive well but data is there. The only thing he was bad in was mixed conditions (with that car because the lasts years he was great) and we’ve seen in silverstone he overcame that. Even silverstone he was great but strategy was bad and he had no FP2 (which caused the shitty strategy from Ferrari as they only had Carlos data where he destroyed his tyres… so no proper data).
I think the media and Twitter saying he is only good on one lap is getting to some people heads sometimes. But we have to look at the bigger picture.
The car, strategy. And of course the few times he pushed too hard when then car was not pole or podium worthy.
I just hope things can click with Ferrari really soon because his talent is wasted right now.
Well, there is no denying Charles is in another league as far as Qualifying goes:
Tumblr media
Source: Wikipedia
A lone non-WDC amongst champions there. Twice!
And this year, with the Red Bull absolutely dominant on every track, there has only been 1 driver who does not drive for Red Bull, who has been able to put it on pole. Twice (1 GP, 1 Sprint).
I think everyone then expects amazing things from Charles during the race, because he is able to just put these incredible laps together in Quali. He doesn't get pole because of a unexpected rain or a crash red-flagging the session, or some other lucky break. He gets pole because he is able to pull the absolute maximum out of the car over that one lap.
Unfortunately our car cannot do this over the length of an entire race. And it's easy to then put the blame on the driver, but as you pointed out, and I have already discussed on here before, there are a lot of other factors at play.
All in all, I feel like a lot of journalists, and fans alike, want more for Charles, because they see how talented he is. Peter Windsor said in his podcast, "Charles does have Max's raw talent. He's got tremendous compactness about his driving. He is very good under pressure, because he's a very good short corner driver who can think in systematic ways." And so it's frustrating not to see more race success come his way. Charles is not alone in this though. Drivers like Alex, Lando, George, even Lewis we saw last year, can often only be as good as their cars allow them to be.

Hi! So if this not too much of a bother, may I ask how do you imagine the kids looking like? Their physical features, I mean. Who is taller? Their hair/skin/eyes color, eyes shape and lashes, hair type and thickness, freckles, dimples, you know, those stuff :) Also thank you so much for building this wonderful universe <3
!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Charlie is the tallest. I think he's pushing 6ft. He looks just like Carlos, a Sainz man to boot, it's uncanny, except he's a little lankier and not quite as built as his papá because he doesn't have to be. So he has Carlos' kind of naturally lean frame and shaggy dark hair. He's very much heartthrob material. He's not quite as tanned as his papá, and he adopted a lot of Lando's more nervous mannerisms like playing with his lips, the neck of his shirt, etc. He's also quite a serious young man, so he carries himself in a way that makes him seem a bit taller than he already is. I think people assume he's quite intimidating and standoffish, but when he smiles you see his entire demeanor change. And he's always smiling around his family and siblings.
Allegra is pretty compact, actually. She's 5'3 and the shortest of her siblings, but she has a POWERFUL frame, all muscle and strength. She trains with Carlos every single day (Lando is a lot mushier about her exercising) and has a remarkable work ethic - though she frequently complains about how hard Carlos works her, only because Lando will spoil her on cheat days lmao. She looks like Lando's sister (see picture below!) but with curly light brown hair that she keeps braided back or in a ponytail. She's got a freckly face, eyes that crinkle when she laughs, and a gap tooth like her father that made Carlos cry the first time he noticed it. While her and Charlie may not look a lot alike, they have similar quirks from being so close - and they both share a fondness for immense mischief that is plain in their faces.
Tumblr media
Lan is about 5'7 with medium-brown fluffy hair that they wear up in a bun, slightly olive skin, and an extremely pleasant demeanor. Their hair textures tends to change based on the day, further proving their paternity elusive. They're always quick to smile (and they have a BEAUTIFUL smile, with deep dimples) but they have really shrewd eyes that are belied by slightly wide-set, doe eyes. Carlos and Lando have no idea whose features they inherited, though Carlos secretly thinks Lan's broad shoulders might be from him - then Lan smiles and Carlos is lost again. When they're younger, Carlos and Lando think Lan's going to grow up to be quite short, but that's actually not the case. Lan spends a lot of time in the sun so they have a nice tan going and freckles.
Aurelia was adopted, so she's completely different from the rest of the family, but she's as much a Norris-Sainz as anyone. She's their golden child: golden-brown hair, golden-brown skin, golden-brown eyes. She's a remarkable beauty, actually, brought down to earth by a big braying laugh that she adopted from both her fathers and the fact that about a third of her left eyebrow is nonexistent because Allegra tried to teach her how to shave her eyebrows and, uh, it didn't go great. She's about 5'5, curvy, and has dense curls (all the kids have fluffy/curly hair!) that she wears no longer than her chin usually. She has big, sleepy eyes that she only opens fully when she's either thrilled or upset. She's quite an old soul, I think probably because of the age gap between her and her siblings, and you can see it in her face.
I can't stress enough how obsessed their fathers are with all of them. Each is more perfect than the next as far as they're concerned. And they're really a tight-knit family, partially because of how they all end up living a little far from one another when they're older. But they'll always try to go to Allegra's races, and they always visit home several times a year (and get visited by the others besides). A beautiful, loving family.

Hi. This is a little thing for all the people who don't like themselves or who don't like a small part of their body. To remind them that it is only a matter of point of view. That there will always be someone who will love you more than you love yourself. It's a reminder for me too, because I should stop criticizing myself for anything wrong I do and look at the good things I have managed to achieve. It is not beta readed so there could be errors, I ask forgiveness from the beginning, but it is something I wrote in one go thanks to @renatasthings (to whom I dedicate this) and I did not have time to pass the fanfic under the watchful eyes of @loveyouhomex (sorryyyyy).
Before leaving you to read I wanted to warn you that there are elements of hurt / comfort and a small part of selfhate at the beginning. I'll add the tags below, but in case you haven't filtered them out but this is a topic that can be a trigger for you, don't read and know I love you all the same (or skip the first part until after the first few dashes).
POINTS OF VIEW
Lando doesn't like his body.
He's too small for his age and people often mistake him for someone younger. His arms are too scrawny, and even after all the exercises Jon makes him do they are always the same. But the part of his body he hates the most are his legs. Too light, too skinny, when he was younger some of his friends even made fun of him because of his legs not being hairy enough.
This is the reason why he's always wearing long pants or jeans.
Truth be told, he's kind of a really cold person. If a window is slightly open and he's in the room, most of the time he starts to shiver and needs his hoodie.
What people are starting to notice though, is that he's never wearing shorts even when all the other drivers are and even when the temperatures are too warm to be actually comfortable with long pants and long sleeves.
---
Carlos loves Lando's body.
He's small and compact.. He can fit in his arms really easily when they cuddle. He's exactly the right size to rest his chin on his shoulder when they are at home and Carlos is trying to cook. Trying because, when Lando is in a mood, the chin on his shoulder becomes a hand on his ass or under his t-shirt and these are the times when dinner is delayed.
Rest assured that this is actually an occurrence in the house because Lando finds cook-Carlos really hot and since the older one knows he tries to make homemade meals whenever it's possible.
Carlos loves Lando's eyes.
They are an ever changing colour. From blue to green and grey, but always full of strong emotions. They can be stormy or happy, scared or joyful. Carlos can spend his life just gazing into them. Who needs to compete in Formula 1 when you can do that for a living?
Carlos loves Lando's tummy.
He knows that his boyfriend doesn't like it. Always putting a hand in front of his stomach when they have their cheat meals, trying to mask something that's just natural and that makes him a little bit softer and cute.
Carlos takes him into his arms and, when possible, kisses the frown off of his boyfriend's beautiful face. If it's not appropriate for the place they are in, he just takes Lando hands in his and rubs shooting circles on the back of it, until he can feel his boyfriend getting more comfortable.
Carlos loves Lando's arms.
His boyfriend doesn't realize it but he's getting fitter by the minute and the older one sometimes gets lost in his head when they do exercises together or just by watching his boyfriend doing mundane activities like helping the mechanics dismantling the cars and pushing the boxes around.
Carlos loves Lando's hands.
They are smaller than his and they fit perfectly when they hold hands. He loves them in every situation. When Lando's licking them clean after some chips. When they trace light patterns on his back. When Lando pinches his nipple and makes him moan with them. When Lando takes Carlos' hands in his because he's always cold while his boyfriend's always too warm and he cherishes every time they spend with their hands interwoven.
Carlos loves Landon's back.
It's not too broad but he can't stop himself in admiring the milky expanse constellated with moles. He'd love to spend hours kissing every single one of them.. and sometimes, when they have nowhere to be, he does exactly that.
But most of all Carlos loves Lando legs.
They are light but muscular and they fit him really well. He knows that his boyfriend doesn't like them very much but Carlos doesn't understand. Or better, he always listens to and tries to understand what Lando tells him, he loves to listen to the Brit's accent, his way of pronouncing the letters always rolling on his tongues, but sometimes Lando doesn't listen to him.
This is the reason why Carlos is always trying to have at least one of his hands on his boyfriend's legs.
Truth be told, Carlos can't keep his hands from his boyfriend in any situation and no one can blame him.
The older one keeps reminding Lando that they are beautiful, that he's beautiful.
When Lando is tired and Carlos is rubbing his feet while they watch something on Netflix, Carlos never forgets to leave small kisses from his boyfriend's calves to his knees. If the time is right, those kisses can travel to a higher place. But this is neither the time nor the place to discuss this.
Even when Carlos is inside of Lando, he never forgets to spend some time worshipping his legs, massaging his thighs or keeping them next to his face and leaving random kisses on the soft flash there.
Carlos is simply in love with his men and every part of his body and mind.
---
Carlos can't help but feel so proud of his little Muppet when, during the usual track walk, he notices a glimpse of Lando confidently walking with those beautiful legs in the open and wearing some really short shorts.
No one can really blame him if, when they get back to their drivers' room, Lando's shorts are quickly removed, only to be immediately replaced by Carlos' hands.
But the best thing is to see his boyfriend who, when asked for explanations about the change of styles, responds with a dazzling smile and kiss.
A "thank you" and "I love you" murmured between their lips.

Oh look. Bottas & Tiffany also at an event with no masks on. Are we going to morally judge them too 🙄 I mean Bottas could infect Lewis and then what 😱 ///
I also think bottas is being an idiot. It’s not as tightly compact as a club like Lando was in but it’s still not great. Are you really that hurt over people calling out Lando for going clubbing without taking precautions? He’s had covid once already, you’d think he’d make sure to take precautions instead of taking risks. And are you really ignoring the multiple posts of people being pissed with other drivers about it too? Lando isn’t the only one that’s been called out, but there are multiple pictures from a few days ago that show him with fans and no mask so he rightfully should be called out 🙄

After My Father’s Funeral Chapter 3
Summary: Funerals can be stressful, but so can weddings–especially with a family as effed up as theirs. Unfortunately for Leia, she has both to attend in one go. So much for repression. Modern AU
Pairings: Leia/Han, Mara/Luke, Jyn/Cassian, Leia&Han&Luke&Mara&Cassian&Jyn, Uncle Owen/Aunt Beru
Chapter summary: Leia and Han continue to butt heads. How many times does she have to meet this prick?
Chapter Pairings: Mara/Luke, Jyn/Cassian, Mara&Leia, Han/Leia
A/N: Thanks for all the support, please check out the FFN and Ao3 versions for full author’s notes.
The wedding was going to take place on Uncle Owen's farm, and Mara wanted to show Leia where everything was going to be. Leia wasn't too perturbed by the tour taking place quite early on a Friday morning, she was an early riser anyway. Every morning at 6:30 she got up for a run, got her breakfast, and headed to work. The latter was replaced on her vacation with either lounging around the Lars' residence or working on the small amount of work she'd been able to bring with her. She'd found early on that a steadfast routine—while monotonous to some—was one of her only anchors in a turbulent world. She'd found very little in the way of permanent closure, but dammit if she couldn't get through a day.
That day she'd gotten a bit of a late start, but it didn't matter; she didn't have anything else to do but wish she was spending her (probably only) vacation someplace with beaches and hotter guys—at least ones that don't race. Mara was waiting for her when she got back from her run, along with Luke and someone she had hoped to file away under "bad encounters." She wasn't sure what Han Solo was doing here, but she knew it wasn't good.
"Leia, care for some eggs?" Aunt Beru asked her, and she politely declined.
That smirk was back as Solo eyed her up and down. "Couldn't help but notice you're driving a 2017 TIE, not bad."
Leia set her hands on her hips and stared at him for a second, at a loss for words. "Its a rental. I don't have a car."
Solo seemed shocked by this. "Really, how do you get around in that big city then?"
Leia shrugged. "Walk, take the bus. Sometimes Uber or I carpool."
Solo shook his head. "You should get a car. Now, I know a guy selling-"
"If I wanted a car, I would go to my local dealership and buy one, not buy some junker off of a random." Leia was not in the mood for this, her routine was off and she had not anticipated this encounter.
Solo shook his head. "This car is not a junker, far from it. I admit it might need some work done, but-"
"Let me guess, you know a guy."
"Yeah, me. I'd help you with any of your car troubles, sweetheart." His grin was back.
Leia winced at the nickname. "This is the problem with you Naboo guys, you're obsessed. You only look at girls because your cars don't have tits. I'm surprised some sucker hasn't done that yet, or maybe he's just worried you'll stick it in the tailpipe!" A noise made her glance over and she realized that Mara and Luke were barely holding back their laughter.
"What's so funny‽" She demanded.
"You two," Mara said, wiping her eyes. "C'mon, Leia."
"Why is he even here?" Leia demanded.
Luke cleared his throat. "He's- he's my best man."
Leia's whole body went rigid as she stared incredulously at her brother, already dreading every single encounter she was going to have with this man.
"You've rendered her speechless, kid," Solo said, still smirking, causing her to redirect her icy gaze to him. He didn't even flinch.
"C'mon, Leia," Mara said again, and Leia turned to follow her.
"Oh, princess, before you go." Leia stopped but refused to look back. "You may be right about 'Naboo guys'-"
"Hey!" Luke protested.
"-but I'm from Corellia. Nice to see you again." He sounded like this small distinction meant a world of difference, but it did little to sway her opinion. Leia stormed out after Mara, catching up with her just outside of the house.
"He's always been like that, ever since I've known him," Mara said, catching Leia's look.
"How do you stand him?"
"He's better once you get to know him. He can be a real great guy." Mara chuckled at her groan. "Just don't let him know he's getting to you, he'll only pick on you if it bothers you."
Mara showed her the place where the pavilion where they'd be having the ceremony as well as where they'd have the reception. "The old barn is the rain plan, but we're hoping it won't come to that. You can only get those places so clean. And sorry again for not having you as a bridesmaid, we decided simpler was better and I figured you'd want to be on Luke's side anyway."
"Don't worry about it. So long as I'm sitting by someone nice, I'll be fine." When Mara didn't say anything, Leia groaned. "Not him, anyone but him."
"Sorry, but we want the same number of people on both sides, for pictures, you know? And Han doesn't have a date and Jyn is sitting with Cassian."
"Is there an open bar at least?"
Mara laughed, and nodded. "It was Luke's one request for the reception. He said he didn't care where it would be or how many people would be there, he just wanted you to be there and an open bar." The two walked side by side back to the house. Leia was dreading another encounter with Solo, but she hoped that maybe he'd left.
"You're back," Luke commented from the couch. He and Solo seemed to be drinking coffee and watching a race.
Leia avoided Solo's gaze, and made to go back to her room.
"The offer for that car still stands, sweetheart," Solo called to her, and she stopped in her tracks.
Don't let me know he's getting to you. She let out a breath and turned around.
"What is it?" she asked.
He smirked and sat up. "An old 1974 Tantive, the 4th in its series."
She crossed her arms. "I thought you said it wasn't a junker."
He chuckled. "It isn't. Its from my pal Lando, he doesn't buy junkers."
Mara scoffed. "He's right, Leia. But Lando also wouldn't tell you about any fatal flaws in the cars either."
Solo assured them that he'd checked out the car himself. That it maybe need some bodywork and a fresh coat of paint, but was, overall, a good buy.
"Isn't that car huge?" Leia asked. "I'd need something more compact. No, I think I'll be fine, thank you anyway, Mr. Solo."
He looked amused. "Mr. Solo is my deadbeat dad, Ms. Skywalker-"
She flinched and snapped. "Organa, my name is Organa, not Skywalker."
He blinked, but barely missed a beat. "My apologies, call me Han."
"Alright, Han. You may call me Leia."
"Oh, may I?"
"Can you two give it a rest?" Mara asked, rubbing her temples.
Leia slipped away to her room, intending to call the office. Maybe they'd had some work they could send over.
She was on the phone with Mothma when Mara poked her head into her room.
"Hold on one second, yeah?" She said to Montha.
"Would you like to go out tonight?" Mara whispered.
"With who? Where?"
"The six of us, you, me, Luke, Jyn, Cassian, and Han. To Jabba's."
Leia sighed. "Yeah, yeah."
"Ok, sorry to bother you." Mara ducked out.
Leia sighed inwardly and went back to talking on the phone.
Leia had remembered the first time she'd gone to Jabba's Hut when she was 19. It had seemed so cool to get past the bouncer with a fake ID Cassian had gotten for her. She'd gotten drunk for the first time there, and had puked in Cassian's car when he brought her home. Things had definitely changed since then. What was once a 21-up bar that sometimes had shows was now a full on club with a DJ, dance floor, and laser light show. Nearly as soon as they had ordered drinks and sat down, the two couples had paired off to go dancing, leaving the two singles behind. Leia expected S- Han to ditch her and start hitting on the locals, which she told him. He shook his head.
"I don't mess around at Jabba's anymore. I'm lucky I was able to get in," he shouted over the music.
"What? Why?" Surprising, to be honest. She straightened her dress over her legs. It wasn't necessarily like what she would've worn to a club in Coruscant, but she had limited options living out of her suitcase. Besides, who was she trying to impress in this town.
"Jabba and I had a- let's say a disagreement awhile back over a sponsorship. It's all smoothed out now, but at the time it was pretty serious." He wasn't looking at her, but staring out at the dance floor. She wasn't sure if he was scouting out potential trouble.
"I didn't even know there was a 'Jabba.'"
"Well of course there's a Jabba, who else would come up with that name?" Leia shrugged at him and sipped her drink. "I'm surprised you're not dancing or looking for a date yourself," Han said.
Leia shook her head. "I thought I made it clear what I thought about Naboo guys. I grew up with some of these people, as far as I'm concerned, they're lucky I even showed up."
Han seemed to laugh. "You graduated with Luke?"
She nodded. "Yeah, I went to Alderaan High up until my junior year, and moved to Tattooine when I was a senior."
Han shook his head. "Alderaan, wow, that's a name I haven't heard of in a while. Tore it down, didn't they?"
She nodded. "Yeah, they claimed structural flaws, but I'm convinced it was bullshit. They just wanted to build that strip mall."
"Must've been hard, moving in your senior year."
She shrugged. "Everyone had to, so I wasn't alone. And after-…well, the Ruling, there wasn't much worse that could be done." She took another sip of her drink. "Besides, I met Cassian, and we dated for a while. Got to spend my senior year with Luke, wasn't all bad."
"You dated Cassian?"
"Yeah, for maybe four or five years."
Han looked shocked. "I never would've thought- huh."
She narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms across her chest. "What?"
"Nothing, I just-"
"Never would've thought a princess like me would be willing to date someone who relies on DACA?"
"Well, when you say it like that-"
She shook her head. "I might have been like that when I was younger, but things have changed. People change. Now I want to make the world better. Make sure people get their just desserts, might run for DA someday, even."
"Alright, alright, no need to convince me, I might just be some lowly tailpipe fucker, but I wasn't born yesterday." Leia laughed.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here, you two getting along?" Luke shouted as he and Mara slid into the booth next to the two of them.
"A moment of weakness, I assure you," Leia said, not looking at Han.
"C'mon Leia, dance with me," Mara said. "Luke's pussying out."
"Not surprising," Leia said as she moved to get out. "I was shocked he was even willing to come here, it cuts into his usual time of reflection and contemplation."
Luke scoffed, drinking, and she laughed. The two of them danced and even ran into Jyn and Cassian. Cassian went to go get another drink so the three women all danced together. Leia conceded that this was indeed a good time, if it wasn't for the lights flashing and the loud music beginning to give her a migraine. She tried to muscle through it and focus on how Jyn—for the first time since she'd met her—looked like she was having the time of her life. After a few songs, Leia was hot and exhausted. She got some water from the bar and was just about to head back when she felt a strong arm around her.
"Fuck off," she said without thinking.
The intruder laughed. "Maybe, if you buy me a drink first, but how 'bout a dance instead?" She turned to see Han, one arm draped over her shoulder.
"You drunk?" She asked.
He shook his head. "I told you I don't mess around at Jabba's."
"Dancing counts as 'messing around.'"
He shrugged. "I'm not good at following rules, even my own."
"Why is that not surprising? I'd really rather sit down, I'm starting to get a headache."
He followed her back to the booth where Mara and Luke were swaying to the rhythm in their seats. The song playing was one of the slower songs that night.
"Oh, Leia, Han, will you sit with the table so we can dance? Its our song," Mara asked emphatically.
"Yeah of course." The two of them sat down as the couple got up to dance.
Han and Leia sat in relative silence until the song was over, and there was a small reprieve from the music.
"I should show you my car," Han said.
"What?" Leia asked, even though she'd heard what he'd said. He took out his phone, an older smartphone with a screen cracked nearly beyond repair. He showed her some pictures flipping through some before and afters, and telling her about the history of the '63 Falcon. It was hard to tell what Leia was looking at exactly with the cracked screen, and it was hard to hear over the music and her pounding head. She merely nodded and said "yeah" whenever seemed necessary, hoping this conversation wouldn't go on forever.
"So you'll come tomorrow?" He asked and she blinked.
Leia had no idea what he was talking about. "Sure, where at? What time?"
He gave her the address and she put it into her calendar under "Solo Thing" at 8 am. She could barely think of Han getting up before 11, but she could barely think at all at this moment.
"You weren't kidding about that headache, you look awful," Han said.
"I bet you say that to all the girls."
"Only the cute ones." Leia was pretty sure he winked, but she couldn't tell at this point.
"I think I need to go home." She rubbed her temples, not sure if she should surrender her fate into the hands of a man who she'd only recently become on speaking terms with.
"Say no more, sweetheart." He stood and made his way over to the dance floor, hopefully to find Luke so he could take her home. She felt bad to ruin her brother's good time, but she was beginning to feel sick.
It was Jyn and Cassian who came to the table, not Luke.
"Sorry you're not feeling well." Cassian sounded about as remorseful as he could over the music, which was quite a bit considering. "Do you need a ride home?"
"Taken care of," Han said. "I already texted Luke, but I couldn't find him. Tell him I'm taking her home."
"Ok, but make sure it's her own, ok?" Cassian asked. "I don't think you want to know what'll happen if its not."
"Guys, I'm having a migraine, he didn't roofie me," Leia protested. Cassian held up both his hands in surrender
Han led her out of the building and over to the parking lot where an old black sedan sat.
"Is this the Falcon?" Leia asked.
Han gave her a look, but didn't call her out for not paying attention to his small spiel. "No, this is a 2005 TIE, a commercial car, alegally drivable on the roads. The Falcon is for racing."
"Oh, that's disappointing." Leia got into the passenger seat, curling up under her seatbelt.
"Don't worry, you'll see the Falcon tomorrow. That is, if you're feeling up to it." He got into the driver's seat, turning on the car and turning down the radio to a soft hum.
Leia waved it off. "I'll be fine. I'll be there." As they headed towards Uncle Owen's farm, Leia added the note to the event in her calendar: "See the Falcon?"

Russell and Norris are set for the drives of their lives in Melbourne
They laughed and joshed like two kids preparing for a gap year job Melbourne pub, but behind the easy smiles lay nerves and excitement the [
For George Russell and Lando Norris are not off to Australia to meet the locals towards 100 million.
A week today at the Albert Park circuit, Russell, who is 21, and Norris, 19, will join Lewis Hamilton as British Formula One racers, there on merit and the most exciting newcomers produced in this country since the five-time world champion made his scintillating debut on the same Tarmac 12 years ago.
George Russell and Lando Norris will make their F1 debuts at the Melbourne Grand Prix
Russell will drive for Williams and Norris for McLaren, two teams who have recently seasons rubbed along the they had to fire it
That reality should limit expectations but, naturally, the pair of them were full of joy at the prospect of realizing their lives' dreams as they sat down at a London hotel for their only national newspaper interview together.
'It's a bizarre feeling to be on the brink of F1 because I've been busy since I was handed the seat last year,' said Russell, who beat Norris into second place in the 2018 Formula Two championship. You do not get time to think about it. But when you mention F1, it feels pretty awesome. "
A few hours after the interview, they have to go to Melbourne separately, wearing a pair of glasses, not to conceal them. but to help get accustomed to an 11-hour time difference
Russell, from King's Lynn, adjusted his sleep pattern back a few hours while still in England. The night before he got out he went to bed at 2am. Norris, from Glastonbury, moved his bedtime forwards.
The rookies have known each other through the years in karts and junior categories
'I wear sunglasses at airports, not to look cool or anything,' said Russell, a stringy 6ft 2in to Norris's more compact 5ft 8in. "It is a way to dim the light so you are getting in the right routine. I always wear my sunnies on the flight. "
Norris said: 'My glasses are slightly different. I have to wear a contraption. They have blue lights to help me wake up when I am on a plane and there is no proper sunlight. They can then block the light as well. They are not sunglasses – I am not that cool. "
Nothing can really prepare the duo for this week. Their families will be in the background, but they will have their own homes and their lives, and they will have their lives on their way through the ranks.
Russell has traveled with his own pillows – thin ones – to help him sleep. Norris used to pack his own mattress but, this being F1, team sponsors Hilton will cater for his every nocturnal requirement.
'F1 teams spend a fortune on getting an extra tenth or a second,' said Russell, ' so why not make sure everything is 100 per cent right with your sleep? '
Both men have been inspired by Lewis Hamilton while competing in the junior categories
The rookies have known each other through the years in karts and junior categories. Norris 'brother Oli was a contemporary of Russell, with Lando only belatedly pushing his nose on the scene.
' We are not friends as such – I have never been a sleepover at George's – but we talk sometimes and we get on OK, I think, do not we? ' asked Norris. They seem to, at times quite touchingly. How long is the last day
Both have been schooled by garlanded teams, Russell was under Mercedes' umbrella and Norris at McLaren, just as Hamilton was. Which brings up the subject of the world champion and his impact on them both.
Russell, who will race a substandard car that arrived late and Williams' technical director Paddy Lowe his job, said "I have been in a fortunate position being around Lewis at Mercedes. I have seen him in debriefs and we had a couple of flights together, when we could speak on a personal basis. I have seen how he makes it all work for him – an important lesson.
'He works so hard instead of relying on natural talent. There is no right way of doing it. You can not say that you can make it a five-time world champion. You have to find a way that works for you.
'Lewis works 24/7. There is so much glory but there are tough times to achieve your goals, to make it work. "
Norris, whose template is Fernando Alonso, the double world champion who vacated the race seat at McLaren last year, said "I once shook Lewis 'hand at the press conference at Abu Dhabi in November, but I am not sure he said anything.
' I do not really expect anything more. He's at Mercedes so he'll help George more than me. " Williams are powered by Mercedes, McLaren by Renault.
The debutants are similar but different. Norris, the supreme millennial, does his training indoors and uses a cycling app. Russell, who likes the gym more, runs and cycles outside, enjoying getting himself dirty.
Neither has a fancy car or a great hobby away from the track. Russell shops at Asda. Both do their own washing. Russell is more attuned to F1 history, even his fellow new boy.
So what of next Sunday's Grand Prix? 'There are nerves,' admitted Norris. 'A clean race, with no great mistakes, to act as a springboard,' they agree is the aim. That will do nicely for now, and will take care of the rest
