life  was  never  sweet  on  tatum  ramos.    the  only  thing  she’s  ever  known  was  chaos  and  instability.    her  father  was  never  in  the  picture,    mother  a  somewhat  functioning  alcoholic  and  seemingly  two  different  people  depending  on  who  she  was  around.    then  there  was  her  brother    …    the  only  shining  light  in  all  the  darkness  they  were  forced  to  live  with.    throughout  the  years,    he’d  been  the  one  keeping  an  eye  out  on  tatum.    looking  after  her,    making  sure  she  ate,    getting  to  school  on  time  and  everything  else  their  mother  should’ve  done,    but  didn’t  care  enough  to  do.    all  responsibilities  seeming  to  fall  on  ricardo  even  when  he  was  a  child.   it  was  ricardo  who’d  been  the  creator  of  her  dreams.    the  only  who  showed  tatum  that  she  was  allowed  to  dream.    to  want  something  better  for  herself  than  what  she  was  working  with.    the  only  thing  she’s  ever  wanted  was  to  get  out  of  this  town.    to  see  the  world  for  what  it  had  to  offer.    to  not  be  tied  down  to  a  single  place.    it  was  also  ricardo  who  encouraged  her  to  do  it.    promised  that  he’d  make  it  happen.    that  as  soon  as  he  was  able,    he’d  take  her  away  from  westhaven  and  they’d  go  where  she  wanted  to  go.    it  was  going  to  be  just  the  two  of  them  taking  on  the  world  together.    the  kind  of  hope  that  pushed  tatum  to  believing  it’ll  all  be  okay.   until  the  age  of  sixteen.  

to  make  a  very  long  story  short,    her  brother  had  managed  to  snag  himself  a  full  ride  to  college  and  during  one  of  his  very  first  trips  back  home,    he  passed  away  after  a  night  of  celebrating.    a  drunk  driver,    probably  from  one  of  the  parties,    crashing straight into the car.    no  one  survived.   it  was  the  beginning  of  the  end  for  tatum.    all  hopes  and  aspirations  seemed  to  die  the  night  ricardo  did.    it  was  just  her.    she  was  all  alone.    left  to  deal  with  her  mother  and  all  the  horror  that  came  with  that.    three  years  after  ricardo  died,    tatum  had  turned  into  a  shell  of  herself.    she  wore  her  mask  well    –    pretending  like  she  didn’t  want  to  be  anywhere  but  there.    like  things  weren’t  getting  worse  by  the  day.    pretend  as  if  she  were  okay. but  deep  down,    tate  knew  she  was  far  from  that.    she  didn’t  know  who  she  was  anymore.      and  life  with  her  mother?    that  didn’t  get  better.    didn’t  get  easier.    no  ..  it,    too,    only  got  worse.    tatum  had  become  a  target  of  verbal  (and  unprovoked)  lashings  that  felt  like  it  happened  nearly  every  day  until  she  finally  stopped.

she  was  nineteen  when  she  felt  herself  exploded.    remembers  the  day  like  it  were  only  yesterday  and  not  seven  years  ago.    another  night  of  her  mother  yelling  at  her  about  something  senseless,    but  it  was  also  the  night  that  tatum  finally  stood  up  for  herself.    didn’t  bite  her  tongue,    saying  pretty  awful  things  until  her  felt  her  head  forced  to  the  side.    the  sting  of  a  slap  burning  the  side  of  her  cheek.    the  final  straw  for  tatum.    in  the  midst  of  a  meltdown,    all  happening  within  her  brother’s  untouched  room,    tatum  spotted  something  green  pouring  from  the  inside  of  a  shoebox  that  had  gotten  knocked  over  the  process.    money.      money  her  brother  had  been  saving  up.    though,    it  didn’t  say  for  what,    tatum  had  a  clue. it  was  for  them.     for  that  silly  little  dream  that  tate  had.   a  dream  turned  reality  that  night  because  not  even  a  few  hours  after  finding  the  money,    tatum  was  on  the  first  bus  out  of  westhaven.    feeling  like  it  was  a  sign  to  stop  holding  herself  back  and  live  the  life  she’d  always  wanted.    if  not  for  herself,    but  for  ricardo.    that  night  seven  years  ago  was  the  last  time  anyone  from  westhaven  had  seen  or  heard  from  tatum  ramos    –    traveling  across  the  states  in  the  ways  she’s  always  dreamed  up.    feeling  a  new  sense  of  self  taking  over  her  with  every  place  she’d  gone  to.    her  life  back  home  being  pushed  in  the  furthest  part  of  her  mind    –    locked  away  and  never  spoken  about  again. the  only  reason  she’d  come  back  to  town  was  to  bury  her  mother.    she  didn’t  want  to  go.    her  mother  being  dead  and  mourned  ages  ago,    but  despite  it  all,    tatum  can’t  bring  herself  to  be  that  cruel.    even  if  she  hated  her  mother,    she  also  loved  her.    but,  of  course,    coming  back  home  didn’t  come  without  it’s  issues    —    a  house  that  she  wants  nothing  to  do  with.    it’s  the  only  thing  keeping  her  here  for  now.    building  up  the  courage  to  get  rid  of  the  very  last  thing  keeping  her  brother’s  memory  alive.

biography.

i. growing up was difficult for luka, an absent father and an alcoholic mother. he was forced to grow up fast, forced to deal with hardships no kid should. he was the oldest sibling of four and their only caretaker. luka tried his best to make a brighter life for his younger siblings and for the most part he succeeded. making food out of nothing, teaching them self reliance and the ability to enjoy life with little to nothing. despite being the parental figure, his younger siblings taught him as well. they taught him what it meant to love and be loved. taught him what it meant to care for someone with nothing in return. ii. highschool was as easy as it could be with a mother who was always brough chaos and little siblings who relied on him. he had learned how to balance his school life with his home life. cover up any messes and avoid losing his siblings to the system. luka found an outlet through boxing, a way to cope with the cards dealt to him. he joined the football team as a cornerback and while that came with some popularity, he tried his best to keep to himself. while luka did do nefarious things in his teen years, it was all a matter of survival. for the most part, he kept his head down and focused on his real goal. being a positive role model for his siblings and graduating high school. iii. now and days, luka’s siblings are older and don’t need him as much. he’s gone no contact with his mother and after years of quitting various jobs because nothing feels right to him, he’s found being a freelance carpenter at the very least decent. luka’s childhood was an awful time for him but his experiences made him who he is. some days are harder than others, he wakes up angry and frustrated. he’s been through a lot and that’s dulled his spark in life. luka still finds himself going back to his old ways and is still someone who can be easily influenced by money. he will do most things if it means he never has to know what it feels like to have nothing again. some days, he thinks it would be easier to move out of westhaven. other days, he’s coming up with business plans. the next day, he thinks it would just be easier to live the fast life. however, he does know what matters most to him and that’s the people closest to him.

BACKGROUND

the second youngest of the durmaz family, kaan always felt a bit lost among the chaos of his family life

he was always fiercely loyal to his siblings, but butted heads with his dad often

a westhaven bay's own, ana-luiza was born to a big family - two girls and two boys to be exact. a full lively and loud household. her childhood was good, overflowing with memories of her family she cherishes to this day. but that was until she was around thirteen and their perfect family wasn't so perfect anymore. the children were able to notice the change in their parents, and soon enough they were seated in their living room trying to make sense of the news about a divorce and their mother's decision to relocate back to brazil. their once close-knit and happy family was never going to be the same again.

with the news came hard decisions. both parents let their children decide if they want to follow after their mother or stay with their father. it wasn't easy to decide, none of them wanted to see the family separate, but the eldest silva sibling and analu followed after their mother.

then came junior year of high school and analu came back, but things were different now. her father took her in with open arms, meanwhile her siblings gave her the cold shoulder, angry and disappointed they left them. she tried her best to fix what's broken, but it was impossible when they didn't even give her a chance. so she waited... and waited until she graduated high school, around that time she decided she was done getting pushed aside and left again. ever since she's been coming and going, though she's been back for a couple of months now that her father has gotten sick and needs more help then he'd like to admit.
