Come hear and talk with some of the artists and curators who make up The Exhibition Project! The moderated conversation will take place on Wednesday, August 20th, from 6:30-8:00 pm. "In conjunction with Chicago-based curatorial group, The Exhibition Project , and their current exhibition, New Landscapes, curator Sarah Jamison leads a community discussion with participating artists Allison Grant and Anastasia Samoylova at LATITUDE! The conversation will focus on the interdependent role of photography and technology and the dynamic ways in which we perceive and understand the landscape around us. This evolution has expanded and reshaped how we consume and see the external environment.  New Landscapes highlights the work of Allison Grant, Anastasia Samoylova and Mark Dorf. The exhibition runs from Aug. 1 - 31, 2014, at Gallery 19, 1967 ½ W. Montrose."

LECTURES AT LATITUDE: THE THING AND ITS STUFF
Please join us tonight to hear Nicole White attempt to deconstruct photography’s constantly fluctuating position through an exploration of her recent works. She will pull a few themes from Heidegger’s 1935 essay, “The Origin of the Work of Art,” with a particular emphasis on the concept of “thing-ness.” These ideas will act as the starting point for a longer discussion around her practice and the photographic materiality. Nicole White is an artist, historian, curator, and writer. She holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art (2002), a MA in Art History from the University of Connecticut (2010), and a MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2012). Currently, White is the Assistant Director of Schneider Gallery, an equal operator of the project space 3433, and Adjunct Photography Faculty at Wilber Wright College.
