Genetically she couldn't be all brown, so she’s a calico, which I think makes her look more like an autumn leaf

ok i swear im not trying to do this but i just — i am NOT happy with the mothpool children (jay, holly, and lion, if you’re unfamiliar with my rewrite). so, i designed moth and leaf. Theyre my base point as they shouldve been from the fucking beginning idk why this was so hard for me.

Also im going to be basing the three off different kinds of moths. Holly will be based on a cinnabar moth, Lion will be based on the Io moth (same moth as mothwing), and jay will be based on the “long blue tiger moth” (or the blue day moth).

but yaeh knowing that theyre both dead, i can only imagine that them being face to face together was tough

although squirrelflight was hollyleafs mother figure by more of peer pressure or ig god pressure lol, leafpool getting to actually be with her daughter is cool

hollyleaf is a very special character for me, she holds a very special place in my heart because of relating to her on certain levels but i really think she's a great character regardless of my bias and i think the fandom can agree too

with how much anger and hate she held, even the guilt she pushed onto herself for her parents and what they did, i think her holding those strong emotions didn't give her the right opportunity to really share herself with others after finding out about it, aside from her siblings mainly! even then, with them holding special powers there's a bit of a barrier between them.

it gives them time to actually talk, to really enjoy each others time rather than to live in fear with leafpool's secret, and hollyleaf now unable to run away from those she pushed away!!! i think them actually getting a chance to talk to each other, with no worries and no responsibilities now that they're in their resting spots really gives them such a good opportunity to bond together for all the missing time they never got to!!!

this is no hate to sqiurrelflight being a bad mom or anything, i just think leafpool and hollyleaf really needed a one on one time with each other. yknw... after one of them threatened the other.../LH

Bonus happy Leaf bec I felt bad about only drawing her sad.

There are only a few very slight changes to this design, I just wanted to tweak it a bit! After rereading Po3 I was reminded how after TNP Leaf actually becomes a lot more jaded and combative. She lost her kits, her life is being absolutely wrecked by dead cats and she's exhausted. I really enjoy older Leaf, and her more emotional and angry outbursts, she can actually be very mean lol. Sooo I wanted to draw her older, at more of a Po3 age, she's got tired eyes now.
