Learning Empathy: With 14 Sleep Strategies
I use to keep myself up at night rehashing the good, bad, and what I should have done better. Now I have a list of 14 techniques (1. tea/warm milk\water 2. bath\heating pad 3. read 4. write what is keeping me up 5. stretch 6. change into pjs 7. deep breathing, extending the time for inhales/exhales 8. Counting 1 on inhale, 2 on exhale 9. change my direction on the bed 9. Auto-erotica 10. Melatonin (the mint chocolate strips that melt on your tongue in one tiny square) 11. Do the same thing every night 12. Dim the lights during the hour before bed 13. Flexing muscle groups for ten seconds and releasing from toes to forehead 14. Listening to classical music before getting into bed.)
Maybe that last one should have been at the start, oops! You get it though, you can rearrange the list as you see fit. It is my go to list when I have trouble sleeping. Something on that list works every time. See how you can implement some of these strategies when you have difficulty. There’s me going off on a tangent! Back to learning empathy: It is impossible for us to do everything; or be everything for anyone - including ourselves. Especially during the pandemic, when we are pushed to the brink, being pulled in too many directions, with too many challenges.
