#leca balls for cactus

About a month ago I split up a big old snake plant of my mom’s because it was looking overcrowded. I cut off some of the pups and put them in diy nursery pots (32oz yogurt containers I drilled drainage holes into).
The main snake plant seems fine, (other than being rather top heavy), but the separated pups have got some mushy leaves :(. I think the problem is too much water retention (I used Miracle Grow Potting Mix with some leca balls mixed in), so I just bought some Miracle Grow Cactus, Palm & Citrus Potting Mix for a soil replacement (I think something like Sol Soils Succulent Gritty Mix would be optimal, but I don’t really care for this particular plant enough to spend money on expensive potting mix lol).
I like doing my repotting outside, but it’s dark now, so I’ll have to do it tomorrow. I think I’ll pick out the leca balls to save when I do the soil replacement, because I’m also trying to propagate the good part of one of the mushy leaves I cut off, and I want to use leca balls instead of raw dogging the cutting in straight water.
