LEFTWING & KODY - DEEP IN

Mal wieder was neues auf Anjunadeep, dem eigentlich eher für progressiven Trance bekannten Label, welches Ende 2011 das Debütalbum von Dusky herausbrachte. In eine ganz ähnliche Kerbe schlagen nun auch Leftwing & Kody, denn - ohne den beiden hier einen Vorwurf machen zu wollen - der Vergleich zu den beiden UK-Produzenten und ihren markanten Basslines ist kaum von der Hand zu weisen. Ist ja aber auch nichts verwerfliches dabei, sich anderswo etwas Inspiration zu holen wenn dann dabei solche von Garage inspirierten Banger wie "Deep In" herauskommen. War man ja so von den Exploited-Veteraten Leftwing & Kody in der Form auch eher nicht gewohnt, also ruhig weiter so. "Deep In" soll noch im Juli im Rahmen der "Anjunadeep 05" Compilation-CD erscheinen, und wer sich jetzt fragt, was eine CD eigentlich ist: Keine Sorge, den Track gibts auch auf Beatport.

Brand new US based house label Silence in Metropolis launches with a superb single from Dale Howard backed with remixes from Leftwing & Kody and JMF… Liverpool’s Dale Howard has become synonymous with quality house music since bursting on to the scene four years ago with releases on Neurotraxx, Starlight and Sleaze Records. Since then he has become a ‘go to’ man for standout productions with his music finding a home with respected labels such as Morris Audio, OFF Recordings and Noir. Now this much-lauded producer is joining forces with new kid on the block Silence in Metropolis, a brand new label coming from Washington DC with its sights set firmly on releasing the best in House music.

The ‘Give Me EP’ opens with the original version of the title track, a bumpin’ deep house affair that marries rolling house rhythms with classic garage elements to provide an instantly hooky cut. Howard’s production skills shine with tightly edited vocals, skittering beats and subtle keys, quality stuff. The original version of ‘Give Me’ is backed with a remix from OFF and ALiVE artists Leftwing & Kody who deliver a garage flavoured killer complete with high strings, percussive organ stabs and old school bassline.

The second of the two originals, ‘Get You’, again journeys into deep house / garage crossover territory with a Nineties feel fuelled by soulful vocal parts, shuffling drums and classic hooks. The remix duties this time fall to JMF, a producer who is working with labels such as Holic Trax and Static Audio, here he twisted ‘Get You’ into a chunky and raw house workout that is a perfect closer for this superb package.
