There were a lot of people, everyone blending together and she’s watching quietly- barely getting out of the way as another body ran practically through her. It was like a mad house, and she can’t expect that it was only the alcohol they were serving. “Is it—“ She’s biting at her thumb now, dark irises glancing around at all the new faces, new smells.. “Are they always like this?” She had only snuck off to a town event once or twice, though grateful after skipping the Gala— she took her father’s word for it. Bad things happened in crowded places like this. And still, she longs to feel as free as they looked. @exitiumstarters

[ ashley moore | she/her ] Another face is seeking safety in New Orleans. Make sure to welcome DUCHESS O'HARA to the home of the resilient. Rumor has it that they are an TWENTY SIX year old FAIRY, who is one of the SURVIVORS but we’ll keep that a secret. They are said to be SHELTERED, but that’s all a façade to cover up their BENEVOLENT nature. We’ve heard that they can be found listening to SWEET CREATURE by HARRY STYLES, which sums them up pretty well. Let’s hope that they can find a way to survive this harsh new world.

Duchess was born on May 5th, on a rainy summer afternoon. Her mother was once convinced that was good luck. Born the daughter of Allora O'Hara and Douglas White. She doesn't remember much from that time. Only plains of grass and a field of wild flowers her mother would lay out under the sun and tell stories to. Their happy life, was disrupted when her mother was killed by hunters. She's unsure if they were part of the organization, or if they were only cruel on their own. Her father had been at work, when he returned to their home turned upside down- and his young daughter, hiding in the fireplace.

Something inside him snapped that day. Something inside him broke. Douglas had spent a majority of his adult life, keeping his family away from the one he'd grown out of. As far as he was concerned, he'd rarely allowed his sister to visit, his younger brother not at all. It wasn't until his wife's passing, had he returned back to New Orleans-- a place where the outside world couldn't find them. In doing so, his carefulness had created a shelter around his daughter. Afraid of what they might find out, he'd changed her name to the maiden of her mother's and in an attempt to keep her existence, what she was hidden by those who would want to harm her, he'd taught her that binding her wings- and pretending to be human, was the safest thing for her. And so, she'd live her life in secret.

Fun facts

She still binds her wings. Though she has mastered the element of earth. It's the only power she retained from her mother. Her father owned a local book shop. It's a small hole in the wall place, and they've lived in the apartment above it, her entire life.

Her father passed away two months ago, and she now takes ownership of the bookstore. Every shelf is lined with plants, decorating the walls. And at the top of the apartment on the roof, she has an greenhouse that she never quite got the city's approval for.

Duchess went to public school for two years of primary, but was quickly taken out when she was receiving too much attention for "talking to the plants." She was then homeschooled by her father.

She is kind. And observant. She's watched from the inside looking out, for most of life. And while she yearns for experience, she has been thrusted into a life her father had kept her from, instilling a curious nature and fear of the world.

Her mother was of noble blood, serving as a lady to the fairy queen for many years. Though, upon her passing they respected her father's wishes to keep her separate from their world. The plans they once had, drifting away with it.

Her father loved her so dearly, he kept the only flower he'd had left in a cage made of glass. But his passing was hard on her, they had been close her whole life, and now the only family she ever knew had passed.

Upon his passing, is when his sister Gia came back into the picture long after the falling out she had with her brother. Paying for the costs of the service, and introducing her to the family she has left. She's only just recently learned of Billie.
